Since TuBoleta is being a real pain in the ass and isn't announcing those prices I went ahead and converted the prices of the tickets already on sale in Mexico and Argentina to Colombian pesos just to have an idea of the ticket prices here...
Mexico - (Foro Sol) 1,150.00 (VIP) equals 165.000 Colombian pesos
-1,350.00 (Great seats) equals 193.000 Colombian pesos
-650.00 (Good seats) equals 93.300 Colombian pesos
-598.00 (Good seats next to acoustic set) equals 85.900 Colombian pesos
(Est. 3 de Marzo) 1,450.00 (VIP) equals 208.000 Colombian pesos
-750.00 (Great seats) equals 107.700 Colombian pesos (same price for acoustic sec.)
(Est. Universitario Monterrey) 1,500.00 (VIP) equals 215.000 Colombian pesos
-1,050.00 (Great seats) equals 150.800 Colombian pesos
-750.00 (Good seats next to acoustic set) equals 107.700 Colombian pesos
Argentina (River Plate) - 605.00 (VIP) equals 294.300 Colombian pesos
-420.00 (Great seats) equals 204.300 Colombian pesos
-155.00 (Good seats next to acoustic set) equals 75.400 Colombian pesos
EDIT: And because I've got so much time on my hands.. I also calculated the average price for a VIP (or best) ticket:
So.. 1900.4 divided by 12 equals..
158.36666666....
but 158.400 looks prettier :P

So I have decided to fly down to Colombia from Winnipeg to see Coldplay one last time on their Viva tour - ON MY BIRTHDAY, MARCH 4! As a ridiculously fantastic 25th birthday gift to myself, I'm going to splurge!
One thing - when I try to register for TuBoleta with a username and password, it won't accept my password! I have tried several times with different passwords, no capital lock, no numbers, etc... and nothing works! Any idea why??
Also, does anyone know if it'll be an assigned seating concert, or will there be general admission floor?
Any info is appreciated!!

I haven't tried signing up yet so I don't know about the password thing but I do know that there aren't any seats so it'll probably be like a 2 section thing.. one for people who want to stand near the stage and another one for people who don't mind standing further away.
If you need any help let me know :)
Btw it's great that you chose to come to the Colombian show.. it'll be awesome! :D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sim%C3%B3n_Bol%C3%ADvar_Park
"Simón Bolívar Park is located in Bogotá, Colombia. The "Central Simón Bolívar Park" is part of a larger group of surrounding park areas, named the "Metropolitan Simón Bolívar Park". This includes El Lago Park, several sport complexes, a museum, two theme parks and a botanical garden. The Bogotá Palacio de los Deportes, hosting many concerts and events annually, is also part of the Metropolitan Park.
The Central Park has a lake in which paddle boats can be rented. Furthermore, there is a large space designed for concerts, holding up to 140,000 people at one time.
The extension of the Metropolitan Park is greater than that of Central Park in New York, totaling around 400 hectares. Currently, both the Central and Metropolitan Parks host diverse cultural and sporting events including Latin America's largest free music festival Rock al parque. On February 28, 2008, it held the most important concert ever in Colombia. The British heavy-metal band Iron Maiden, played there in their first time they went to the country. Although the Park is big, a lot of people thinks that Bogotá deserves another arena for big concerts. The park also hosted a KISS concert on April 11, 2009 before a crowd of over 35,000 people. Also Gwen Stefani performed here as part of her Sweet Escape Tour before a crowd of more than 30,000 people."
Si algo me dices y te ayudo en todo lo que pueda :)

How come VIP is more expensive than Great seats in Foro Sol?
more than 100???? that's a lot!!!
I know. :inquisitive: We may pay insanely expensive tickets here for international artists concerts. Some people think it's worth the money but many others don't because that is a lot of money here!! I remember when Björk came, the most expensive ticket was about € 125 !!! ... I payed less than that but still it was a lot of money for me and I would pay that again if she came back. :D
For example, according to aleja conversions 294.300 Colombian pesos which you would pay for VIP tickets (the most expensive ones) in Argentina , in the River Plate Stadium are about € 103... And actually I am afraid that the tickets here will be a little more expensive than in the other countries.
So I have decided to fly down to Colombia from Winnipeg to see Coldplay one last time on their Viva tour - ON MY BIRTHDAY, MARCH 4! As a ridiculously fantastic 25th birthday gift to myself, I'm going to splurge!

Also, does anyone know if it'll be an assigned seating concert, or will there be general admission floor?
Any info is appreciated!!
I don't think there will be sits there... there will be general zones I think, and where they are presenting is a very big space, so you've got to be early if you want a good position in your zone!

How come VIP is more expensive than Great seats in Foro Sol?
I've seen a few places where they charge more for seats near the stage than standing tickets. It's probably because if you've got a seat you don't have to worry about getting there early to be near the band, since it's already reserved :)

I would love to know the answer to this question too! I am from Canada and am planning on purchasing 2 tickets this Friday, but cannot read the Tuboleta website in Spanish, and have read on previous posts that you have to call a number to get tickets?
If anyone has any information, it'd be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

The tickets are no longer on sale on tuboleta.com, they've changed it to www.ticketexpress.com.co ( http://www.ticketexpress.com.co/conciertos/219-coldplay.html )
You can indeed buy the tickets online and I think you can buy them from anywhere in the world cos if you try to create a new account on the site you'll see a huge list of countries so I'm pretty sure you buy them from wherever you are :)

Thank you so much for the info Aleluvscp! Very informative, I really appreciate it!!!
I do have some more questions though:
What currency are these tickets in? Does anyone else think the prices are ridiculously high? I can justify spending $120CDN on a ticket in a reasonably close seat, but $305? That's quite high! When I went to the Osheaga Festival in Montreal, I managed to get front row, and only for $87CDN! So if anyone knows what currency the tickets are selling in, that would be lovely to know!
Do you think the three different sections are divided by some sort of fence or blockade? I am contemplating sneaking through the crowd during the concert to get to the front, but if there are blockades, no point. :(
Aleluvscp
29-10-2009, 10:23 PM
You're welcome :)
The currency is Colombian Pesos. It's actually 162.75 Canadian Dollars ...which I do agree is ridiculously high
I'm already looking for a full time job
This is the place where they'll be playing... the pic is from a concert by Soda Stereo a few years ago
http://www.col.ops-oms.org/desastres/docs/Bogota/img/22.jpg
If you look closely you'll see the platinum section in front. I'm not sure what's dividing it but it looks hard to sneak in to the section ahead.
BTW here's a conversion of all the ticket prices:
Platinum $305.000 = 162.75
$355.000 = 189.43
$395.000 = 210.77
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
V.I.P. $172.000 = 91.78
$197.000 = 105.12
$232.000 = 123.80
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preferencia $75.000 = 40.02
$98.000 = 52.29
$120.000 = 64.03
See you soon :)

I was online 10AM my time to buy tickets, and it said tickets wouldn't go on sale until noon my time. So I get on the computer at 5 minutes to noon, and the $305.000 platinum tickets are already sold out! So I had to pay an extra $50.000 for the same tickets! All because they started selling tickets earlier than stated. Grrrrrrrr.

I feel your pain. This is quite tragic for a lot of people. Including me because I didn't have enough time to buy my boyfriend's platinum ticket and now we'll have to be in different sections :confused:
I'm hoping that the company saved some tickets for later. Some ticket companies do that sometimes, they say the tickets are sold out and a couple months later they say they have some more left.
If that doesn't happen then yea.. this is pretty tragic :\

Hi peeps.. ok um.. a meet-up is exactly what we need. Gena (coldplayzmahlife) came up with a very cool idea for those who plan to be in the first row... each person will have a balloon with a letter and all of them combined will say YOUFIXEDUS :nice:
We'll be there at around 5:30 I think. I think you guys can come in sometime later.. we're just paranoid

Is anyone else not too excited about the local acts?? :\ I think Bat for Lashes is just fine.. another act is pretty unnecessary if you ask me.

Bat For Lashes is awesome!
Don't know the Colombian band, but I guess it is positive to have a local act and support national talent.
Can't wait to March 4!
And indeed, you're crazy for getting there at 5:30 AM!

Flowers, fruit and wine: Coldplay's demands for Colombian stay
http://colombiareports.com/pics/2010/02/cold_play.jpg
Only a few days remain before British rockers Coldplay make their Colombian debut in the country's capital and they're expected to draw huge crowds. But what have the group demanded during their stay? Here's the band's rider, according to website estereofonica (http://www.estereofonica.com/coldplay-da-a-conocer-sus-exigencias-para-el-concierto-en-bogota/).
Members Chris Martin (piano, vocals), Jon Buckland (guitar), Will Champion (drums) and Guy Berriman (bass), will allegedly be arriving in Colombia in a fleet of 12 ultramodern tour buses and flanked by an entourage of 75, which will go directly to a undisclosed hotel in the north of Bogota. There the group will occupy an entire floor of establishment.
At the hotel they will be presented with twenty bottles of specially imported French and New Zealand wine, as well as some of the best local produce that Colombia has to offer in terms of tropical fruit and cut flowers.
However, they're not all extravagant demands - each band member will also be given a postcard to send their families at home, a tradition that the band goes through in every new location that they visit.
Coldplay will perform on March 4 in Bogota's Simon Bolivar Park as part of the South American leg of their Viva La Vida tour.

"sounds.... not like the coldplay i know and love"
How so exactly? It's really only logical that they'd be traveling with a large touring crew, and that they'd stay somewhere top flight with all the amenties and whatnot. I would'nt worry about them "changing for the worse" based on an article that says they want some vintage wine and organic fruit.
I mean, really, the guys are HUGE stars now (as well as being hugely wealthy now.), it's reasonable to assume they're tastes have upgraded a bit. Doesn't mean they're somehow worse people than before. (Although, since I assume no one here actually knows them personally, it seems a bit silly to act like we "know" anything about what they're actually like to begin with...)
Personally, I could care less what they do as far as things like this goes, they make good music, and seem to work hard to give their fans a good show (which sadly, is a lot more than I can say for a lot of popular bands I've seen lately.)
Just my two cents...:)

the guy from a show in mtvla Gabo, maybe you know him and saw the 10+ today. He was being stupid as always (I don't like him) and said that coldplay demanded a postcard, flowers, energetic drinks and diapers cause according to him coldplay shows are not very energic so chris needs a power up and the diapers in case he drinks too much ¬¬

Seems like our humble Coldplay likes the taste of the fancy life. But seriously i think its because Columbia is shocked at Coldplay's amazingness and theyre not willing to accept it. :laugh3:

Coldplay show at this time in Bogotá Parque Simón Bolívar
In an attitude never before seen in the great concerts of international groups, the members of Coldplay stepped off the podium, walked through a corridor that was leaving the public in two and interacted with the audience.
In the warm public response, the British have responded by saying, "bacano, bacano" at the end of each of their songs.

According to twitter a television interview with Coldplay was just aired. It sounds like the interviewer didn't know what she was doing, and the whole thing was a bit ridiculous.
Really?I hope we can see it.although if the interviewer didn't know what she was doing it must be kind of crap. It's just ridiculous.Don't wasted their time if you can't do your job

Coldplay over Bogotá
http://colombiapassport.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Coldplay_Viva_La_Vida_Tour_in_Hannover_August_25th _2009.jpg
More than 32 thousand persons participated in the concert of the British alternative rock band Coldplay in the Simon Bolívar Square of Bogotá the night of March 4. Buenas noches parceros! was the greeting of vocalist Chris Martin, and it was enough to gain the appreciation of their Colombian fans. The Londoners created an alternative rock band in 1997 made by Chris Martin, the lead vocals, keyboards and guitar; Jonny Buckland, the lead guitar; Guy Berryman, the bas guitar and Will Champion, drums, backing vocals and other instruments. They became popular in Colombia with albums like Viva la Vida (Long Life Live) or Death and All His Friends of 2008, a production of Brian Eno.
Other is LeftRightLeftRightLeft, a collection of their live concerts in already 25 countries. It was the first time that the popular band performs in Colombia and the night was a success either for the British artists or for the big group of fans that follows the lyrics of songs like Viva la Vida when Martin signs I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing, Roman Calvary choirs are singing, Be a mirror, my sword and shield, My missionaries in a foreign field…
The visitors were accompanied by the Paisa rock band Estados Alterados that made also a great night of acclamations and the also British Bat For Lashes (her real name is Natasha Khan, 29 years old), who debuted in Colombia with her album Two Suns (2006).

----
The British Coldplay optimism spread to Bogota after a chaotic strike
The British band Coldplay won, passing through Bogota, contagious optimism with its "Live life to citizens who have forgotten the capital for nearly two hours Concert chaos in the city caused by the transit strike.
The London quartet came to the Colombian capital in full collapse after four days of riots and traffic jams caused by a transport strike, which did not stop thousands of people were displaced to Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park. The rock intimate rendezvous with increasingly pompous and the group took about fifteen minutes, but enlivened the local band hopes Medellin Altered States and Britain and opening act on the tour, "Viva la vida" in Latin America, Bat for Lashes. Coldplay, for the first time in Colombia after thirteen years of musical history, pulled together with a slight rain that was dispelled as the band plays the instrumental "Life in Technicolor." Frontman Chris Martin made a show his usual empathy with the audience with, "Good night parceros (partners)!" who led a series of winks to colloquial speech in Colombia as "Is everything cool back there?" or "Bacano! (good)." interaction with the audience was not there, but, as has become tradition on its tour of at least 25 countries, Martin danced, jumped and even starred in number of leaks to disappear from the main stage to resurface later in the center of a platform with the rest of the band and new instruments.
He highlighted yellow balloons rain when the band played the theme "Yellow" from their debut album "Parachutes", one of the most chanted and held by the public along with "Fix You", the third album called "X & Y", which also included a bunch of fireworks behind the scenes. Later, and are the classic "Singing in the rain", the quartet paraded around the room until you reach another platform closest yet to the public, where he played the song "Shiver". The story of the night came when Martin sat at the piano and an oversight prevented him to complete the solo song "Postcards from far away", so he apologized, tried again and finally went to the next song. With "Viva la vida" Coldplay reached its highest point with the choruses sublime gust hearing , almost in unison raised their cameras and mobile phones to immortalize the moment. Coldplay closed its nearly two hour concert with an encore of "The Scientist" and "Life in Technicolor II", during which he covered much of concert hall Simón Bolívar park with a blanket of paper butterflies. The band, who in recent days he played in Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo will travel after its passage through Bogota to Mexico City, Guadalajara and will and Monterrey (Mexico).

ColdPlay rattled to 40 thousand Bogota
The Attendees enjoyed the great successes of Londoners who showed a large-scale spectacle, typical of the best bands in the world.
Huge balloons suspended in the air and illuminated with inscriptions of "Viva la Vida 'and references to the album cover were the gadgets that the band use in tarimadel Parque Simón Bolívar.
Although the concert started at 8:45 pm, from early morning a group of young people flocked to the gates of the Park Event Square, despite the transport strike that plunged the ciudfad.
Speaking to Radio Santa Fe, several of the followers of this London group stated their excitement at the spectacle for which they paid tickets ranging between 120 and 305 thousand dollars or so.
"I live nearby and so arrive early, I came walking up here, because a band Coldplay is very important," said one fan of the group.
The asitentes are able to enjoy the songs that are already considered classics, like Lost ',' Death and All of His Friends' and almost start when the concert came the song 'Viva la vida' which sparked the euphoria and began to vibrate the floor of the park.
The English quartet led by Chris Martin, also played some of their more memorable, chorused by the public as 'The Scientist', 'Fix You', 'Clocks' or 'Yellow'.
The best of the show were the many surprises and special effects that enlivened the concert and with the band gained a hearing for a week endured a city without public transportation, but patiently waited until the final hour.

Q. Hey dear Oracle!!
I was just wondering how the band felt playing here in Bogota. Speaking for myself it was the best night ever, I had never felt such a rush and such excitement! Please answer me, I hope they felt as if they were at home.
Ps: Sorry for my english :)
Thank you!!
The Oracle replies:
The general opinion amongst the touring party is that the crowd in Bogota was the best yet with their manager even saying it was one of the best shows he has ever seen. The atmosphere was amazing with a deafening response to every song; it made the hairs on the back of my arm stand on end (which is a good thing to say by the way).
I can also share with you that a couple of people admitted to feeling very emotional with tears welling up because of the atmosphere you all created. Well done Bogota, you gave Rio a run for its money!
CONGRATS COLOMBIA PEOPLE :D

Fingerprints needed
[Notepad-typed notes on the flight to Mexico City]
Two days since my last post from Brazil and we’ve already been to Colombia and gone. So here we are, on a plane to Mexico right now and Mexico City is in some way what everyone in the crew has been looking forward to: we’re half-way through the tour and also this is the only place where Coldplay will play twice in the same venue so it means a bit more time for everyone.
Last night show in Bogotà was in the huge (how many times will I use this word again? Place your bet) Simon Bolivar park from where you could see the green mountains surrounding the capital. We’ve also been blessed with sunshine all day long, except some drizzle just when Coldplay went on stage. As usual. It was the first time in Colombia for Coldplay. 32,000 people made it to the show despite a quite impressive public transport strike; they were all there, screaming their lungs out when Chris successfully attempted some local slang in Spanish!
Maybe some of them are still wearing one of the three wristbands that Oxfam volunteers have been giving out yesterday. Three wristbands - three messages, because Oxfam Colombia is full of energy and wants to involve as much young people as possible with initiatives that they can feel close to:
DIGNA: a collective movement for recovering dignity in the Colombian society affected by years of conflict. Leave your fingerprint here: www.vozdigna.org (http://www.vozdigna.org) (English and Spanish version)
Violence against women: Colombian women have suffered and still suffer sexual abuse and violence in the conflict.
Mercados Campesinos (farmers’ markets): a great community project that helps small farmers to connect directly with Bogotà’s consumers. I’ve never been good with numbers, but apparently only by cutting the chain of intermediaries, local farmers can get up to 65% more profit and consumers get a price that is 30% cheaper than standard (thanks Paul for explaining!). It’s a win-win: less poverty in farmers communities and more food security for consumers.
Thanks Damaris and thanks to all of you lovely Colombian volunteers, you’ve been working so hard: I was panting most of the time since Bogotà is quite high-up. I had such a good time!
Besides my Oxfam-duty, I’ve also been upgraded to advanced confetti-shooter: I now sit all on my own below one of the delay towers and even have to use a radio. Amazing progress eh? Who knows what I could be doing next.
