The Coldplaying Awards 2009!

Roll Up, Roll Up, it is that time of year again when the annual coldplaying awards roll round, after 4 years of running the awards, Rick has handed over control of running the 7th awards to me.

This thread is going to be used for ideas and the like before the main event kicks off :)

The Timings will be:
26th September to 29th October - 1st stage voting
Weekend of 31st October/1st November - Shortlists get announced
1st November to 2nd December - 2nd stage voting
Around the 5th December - Awards given out!

The Voting:
Due to low turnouts in the past couple years, this year I shall be trying something different for some of the award areas, something similar to other awards, such as the Q awards, where the 1st stage is voting for whoever you like, and the 2nd stage is voting from the shortlist of 5 (or so).

Missing in Action (for the member whom is no-longer posting)
Best Social Group: (do I need to explain this?)

But the floor is open to suggestions on changes to the award areas, by adding new awards, removing some of the current awards etc.

(For the short-list voting, I'm planning to have 2 awards for each area, a normal award voted for by anybody and a Staff award voted for by the admin&mods)

I also suggest Best Live Act that isn't coldplay.

The idea is that for the 2nd round of voting with the shortlists, there will be 2 awards, the first voted for by everybody including forum staff, the 2nd voted for by the forum staff only.

Last year the best live act had the fewest votes of any of the awards, hence why it got dropped (I think the winner ended up with 3 votes to win the award).

Basically I was thinking of making it entirely 2 stage, so the 1st part is that you nominate for anybody in a particular award area, then the top 5 (or so) will go into the 2nd stage where you vote again, but from that list of 5 (or so) [I'm saying 'or so' because owing to the votes in the first round it could be fewer or it could be more]
