I'm a newbie as well hailing from down under. Man coldplay are getting massive down here Rush of Blood has been keeping on getting up to the top of the charts even recently. :D I first heard Coldplay back when Yellow came out and I've been a massive fan ever since.
Fav coldplay songs would be... erm lets think
-Brothers and sisters
-I Ran Away
well thats just a few!
Other bands I like ... Radiohead, Powderfinger, U2, The Strokes, Pink Floyd, Delirious, Idlewild, Red Hot Chilli Peppers ... just to name a few
In the time when Im not working or studying you'll probably find me doing stuff with my band (yes I am another tryhard muso ;) ) . Chris Martin has the most soulful voice around, is a big inspiration for me.
Anyway thats me! :)
brothers and sisters unite, its the time of your lives

Hey peoples thanks for the welcome! :)
Girlstar did you see them when they came for Splendour??? I didnt get the chance but one of my mates went and saw them in Melbourne and said they were brilliant
10-10-2003, 12:03 PM
You can call me Julia :D
Nah I didn't get to see them either...I would of really liked to though. :(
10-10-2003, 12:12 PM
You can call me Gareth ;)
Yeah I missed them when they came through Adelaide in 2001 the tix sold out just when i decided I would go
We'll have to do a petition to get them back to Australia as soon as possible hey? :D
Talking of bands touring Australia, I'm going to see Black Rebel Motorcycle Club on monday night. And I got my ticket for Powderfinger (Im a big fan! :smug: )
So where are you from in Melbourne?
10-10-2003, 12:20 PM
Hey Gareth! Nice to meet you. :D
Haha yeah we should get a petition going!
Oooh so you like Powderfinger ey? I'm not their hugest fan, but I do respect them because they are very talented!
With the Melbourne thing....Do you know where Frankston is? I live down that way.
How's everyone in Adelaide going lately? :)
10-10-2003, 01:05 PM
Yeah Im a bit of a fan of the Finger, although as with Coldplay, it is tragic coz every time they have played in Adelaide I havent been able to go. So Im counting the days to when Im seeing them like a kid at Christmas!
Are you a fan of any Aussie bands?
mmm Frankston... nope I dont have a clue! My cousin used to be a Melbournite but I havent been there in years.
Do you know Adelaide at all? well Adelaide is cool... like LITERALLY!!!! Its been absolutely freezing - where has the warm spring sunshine gone? Apart from that its same as usual... nice place to live but nothing much exciting going on! :) and besides Im a bit busy at uni at the moment so probably wouldnt notice even if anything did happen (which is unlikely in Adelaide anyway!!!! ;) )
10-10-2003, 01:15 PM
Umm I'm not really a fan of that many Aussies bands. I mean some bands like Powderfinger do produce great music and that, but no Aussie bands are in my top 5 or anything. :embarrased:
I've never been to Adelaide before! Hopefully I'll get to go sometime in the future! Yeah the weathers been strange down here! Changing from wet and windy to warm and sunny...in the same day! It's actually quite frustrating because you never know what to wear!
So...do you watch any Aussie sports like AFL? If so, who do you go for? I must say, i was soooo happy Brisbane won the Grandfinal!
10-10-2003, 01:53 PM
I know what you mean about changing weather, I go to uni in a t-shirt coz its all sunny and then I come home drenched! arrgh!
AFL is cool! I'm realy only a half-hearted supporter tho... I'll go for either the Power or the Crows. And yes I was happy Collingwood went down as well! :smug: Who do you go for?
You dont like the cricket I hope... god I think its like watching grass grow!!! A mate of mine loves it and says the other day 'yeah I watched a whole day of cricket' and I'm like 'ok so how many brain cells did that kill?' (now i guess I can expect abuse if you DO like cricket hey? :P )
Have you heard of Speedstar before? They are a band from up Brissy way, I saw them last year they were absolutely brilliant they were better than MotorAce who they were supporting. They are a bit Coldplay/U2/Radiohead in sound, and admittedly are big Colplay fans.
10-10-2003, 02:08 PM
Oh my god, don't get me started on cricket! Trust me, you won't be getting abuse from me, cause I agree with you totally! It's soooo boring! I don't get how people can like it. We had to play it in sport at school this week and I got in trouble cause I ended up sitting on the floor, picking at the grass instead of fielding lol! Aaanyways, yeah I go for Brisbane! Woooo!!! I'm so happy they won!! :D :D But I basically go for Sydney too, just because my whole entire family go for them!
No sorry, I haven't heard of Speedstar...but I'll check em out! ;)
It's been nice chatting to ya Gareth! :D
10-10-2003, 02:12 PM
Oh thats nice a fellow cricket hater! Well you will always have a friend in me! ;)
