View Full Version : Important information for overseas Coldplayers with tickets to the Summer Stadium Gigs

Hi guys,
I know a fair few of you from overseas are coming to England to see the Coldplay stadium gigs and I just wanted to share some information with you.
There was an email sent from Ticketmaster to customers stating that the tickets would not be sent out until 5 days prior to the gig, which obviously might be a problem for those of you who are having tickets delivered outside of the UK.
I have just spoken to them about the possibility of tickets being sent out earlier and was told this was not possible. He also said that at a huge event such as this the tickets would most likely not be sent out until the very last minute.
He said the only way around this was to phone Ticketmaster cancel the delivery (the delivery charge will be refunded) and pick the tickets up from the venue's Box Office on the day.
Just thought I'd let you guys know in case some of you wish to call your respective ticket agents and do the same. :)

Hmmmm... Thanks for the heads up Mich.
I have been concerned about my tickets for a while already... However, wouldn't picking it up from the box office mean I'll lose my place in line?

:nice: Thanks :D
The only show I'm worried about is the Wembley one on the 19th because my ticket was bought by a friend who might not be queueing up with us... so if she too collects her tickets from the box office I'll have to go in search for her before the show :worried:
But I reckon everything will work out in the end... I hope!

I'm wondering why I didn't get this email as well :(
But thanks so much for the info Mich :)
Anyone know when the ticket office at the venue will open up to collect the tickets?
I'm really torn what to do now :(

On the ticketmaster website, it clearly states that an overseas delivery will arrive no later than 7 days before the gig, and the email I got from ticketmaster UK said that my ticket would arrive in Australia 7-10 days before the gig (which is just before I leave).
When an overseas person goes through the ticket buying process on ticketmaster there is an overseas delivery option, the only one you can do, which says minimum 7 days.
In theory everyone buying tickets should have known this before they bought them cos it says this when they booked ;).

What it says on the site, AS YOU ARE BOOKING, to your overseas address.
Guaranteed delivery with tracking facility by FedEx to addresses outside of the European Union (as well as Switzerland) and the USA. Signature required. You will receive your tickets no later than 7 days before the event. Not available to PO Box addresses.

I read the part about receiving the tickets 7 days before the gig when I was booking.
It's just the news now that tickets will only be sent out 5 days prior that confuses me.
So I reckon they mean the tickets to UK addresses will be sent out 5 days before.

All I know is what I was told Chris, I've just spoken to someone directly that said the tickets would be sent out last minute due to the size of the event and the risk of scalping. He advised me that the tickets should be picked up at the box office. I was calling for someone in America, not myself.
Plus some people might be leaving their own country more than 5 days before.

Ah yeah course, course :nice:. I was also advised about box office pick up.
All I meant was, it said on the site to people about delivery times, so if anyone is overseas area they should have known all this already and planned accordingly ;). But luckily now if they screwed up for whatever reason they know they can just pick up at the box office :D!

Well if it is 5 or 7 days then there's no problem :D
It's just that he said that this event would be sent out later due to the size, that's all. Thought it was worth mentioning in case it did indeed happen :)

Just to let you know I am going to see Take That at Wembley on 5th July and the tickets haven't arrived as yet, checked seetickets and they won't starting to send them out before week commencing 22nd June.
So, personally esp. if you are overseas I would collect them from the boxoffice. I am sure people hold places in the queue if you just nip to the box office and pick up the ticket.
Normally you do need the Credit Card which was used to buy the ticket.

Why must Ticketbastard UK be so fucked up? Yes it is a big show, that's why you shouldn't leave it to the last fucking minute to send out tickets! Why the hell didn't they just offer box office pick up to people outside the UK to begin with!
So this is the email I got from them. Some things to note are :
Dear Ticketmaster Customer,
This is a courtesy email from Ticketmaster regarding your purchase of tickets for the Coldplay event that is due to take place at Wembley Stadium.
Your tickets will be dispatched closer to the event date.
Whilst Ticketmaster aims to dispatch tickets as soon as possible we are not able to be specific with exact dates of dispatch. Please allow as much time as possible for your tickets to arrive. If your tickets have not arrived five days before the show, or if you are travelling, five days before you leave, please contact us (http://smr.mm.ticketmaster.co.uk/track?type=click&enid=bWFpbGluZ2lkPTM2MjIwNDQ3Jm1lc3NhZ2VpZD0zNjE4N zA5NyZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPURBVEFCQVNFSUQmc2VyaWFsPTEyMTQ 1OTQyODgmZW1haWxpZD1hbmdpZTA0MDQwNEBob3RtYWlsLmNvb SZ1c2VyaWQ9MTIwMDg0NzA1NyZleHRyYT0mJiZodHRwOi8vd3d 3LnRpY2tldG1hc3Rlci5jby51ay9oL2N1c3RvbWVyX3NlcnZlL mh0bWw=). Please include your reference number and the name and postcode the booking is under. Ticketmaster only posts tickets to the billing address of a credit card. If the address in your booking does not correspond to that held by your credit card company, we may cancel your tickets.
The tickets will be dispatched to the address given at the time of purchase. If you have changed address, please contact our Customer Support Team on 08444 999 999 or by clicking here (http://smr.mm.ticketmaster.co.uk/track?type=click&enid=bWFpbGluZ2lkPTM2MjIwNDQ3Jm1lc3NhZ2VpZD0zNjE4N zA5NyZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPURBVEFCQVNFSUQmc2VyaWFsPTEyMTQ 1OTQyODgmZW1haWxpZD1hbmdpZTA0MDQwNEBob3RtYWlsLmNvb SZ1c2VyaWQ9MTIwMDg0NzA1NyZleHRyYT0mJiZodHRwOi8vd3d 3LnRpY2tldG1hc3Rlci5jby51ay9oL2hlbHAuaHRtbA==) and searching for 'Change of Address' within the Frequently Asked Questions field.
Please note that due to the dispatch process on these tickets any changes to your address needs to be made at least 4 weeks before the event date.
The event organiser will not allow Ticketmaster to duplicate lost or undelivered tickets on many events so it is very important that you receive your tickets in order for you to gain entry into the event. In these circumstances your tickets will be delivered by secure post.
Our secure post method means that on certain events, due to the time constraints, if you are not at home when the courier attempts delivery, the courier will assess the property to determine whether the address is a secure, low-risk location. In these circumstances the courier may post your tickets without obtaining a signature.
This method aims to ensure that you receive your tickets securely and with the added convenience of you not having to re-arrange a delivery.
Thank you for using Ticketmaster!
You have to change your delivery address 4 weeks before the show, but the delivery address must match your credit card address. :dozey:
So now after they have had my money for a year drawing interest I get to spend god only knows how much money on overseas calls to be put on hold for a hour to do something that should have been offered to fucking begin with!

i actually called up Ticketmaster in UK to try & see if i could do the opposite. :P
& i got the follow up email from them too about the delivery.
cos i'm coming in from Malaysia where post has been known to go missing & i'll be in London by 11 Sep. i thought i'd get them to deliver it to me instead if it can be sent out earlier than the stated 5-7 days before the gig.
as Mimixxx has already pointed out, this isn't possible.
the girl i spoke to even recommended that i leave my ticket to be picked up at the box office, particularly cos of 1 significant detail also - GA (standing/level 1) tickets will not be reissued in the case that they somehow get lost, be it cos you lost it or the postal/courier service screwed up.
the other thing i'm now left wondering is whether the GA tickets issued will have specific gates printed in which case i wouldn't know if where i'm queueing is the right gate/area. i was told i can only pick up the ticket from 12pm onwards on the actual day & i was planning to go in the morning. :\

We will start to despatch tickets for this event on approximately 29/08/2009 and we expect to have all tickets despatched by 12/09/2009.
They didn't mention the picking up at box of the stadium thing...:/

There won't be much debs or any from Coldplay can do about that - as this is totally a promoter/ticket agent issue and the issue is not just for the coldplay gigs.

Ok so I contacted ticketline, asking about delivery to US, and being worried about the tix getting to my house when I'm already in London. This is the reply I got:
Tickets can arrive any time up to 7 days before the event depending on when we receive them from the promoters. If it helps we can send your tickets to an address in the UK such as to a friend here or to your hotel. If you would like to do this, please reply to your original confirmation email (including the original email) and stating the address you would like the tickets to be posted to and also the last 4 numbers of your credit card you booked with for security.
Umm, so I still don't know where I stand. They didn't give the option of picking up at box office, or a faster delivery.:\ It says they will deliver "up to 7 days before," but will that mean they will arrive 7days before???:uhoh: And I don't even have a hotel booked yet to give that as an address. This is all I need, to get to London and end up not going to the shows!:bomb::bigcry::wreck: I'm going to be a wreck until I have those tickets in my hands!!!
but a dream
02-06-2009, 11:34 AM
 At least Ticketline gives you the option of delivering your tickets to another address. Ticketmaster seems adamant that they can't send anywhere but to the credit card address.
Do you know someone in the UK well? You can ask Ticketline to send your tickets to him/her, and possibly pick them up a few days before the gig when you are in London. Also, I would presume they mean the tickets ought to reach you 7 days before the gig, but I'm not too sure :inquisitive:

By the time her ticket was at the box office, it was already too late for that. She would probably have had to go the back of the queue, which would have been awful!!:stunned:

Well we've got our tickets for the second gig to be sent to a friend of our in London so there shouldn't be any problem about it, but for the first gig I need to trust FedEx, I'm leaving only the day before, I hope there won't be issues and I'll have them in my hands two days before the show, I mean WTF it was 13.50£ for using FedEx, I want them in a golden envelope as well for that price

There won't be much debs or any from Coldplay can do about that - as this is totally a promoter/ticket agent issue and the issue is not just for the coldplay gigs.

I know it's not at all a Coldplay problem, but as Coldplay contracted this enterprise to develope their tickets they can also help us and force the developer and organizer to develope tickets earlier. That's what I mean. :)

Well, even if they would say something I am sure as the ticket agent in the UK never get is sorted in time it won't help much.
Just as I said before I will see TT in the stadium in 4 weeks and don't have tickets for it yet and they won't arrive like 2-1 week prior. So that is not an isolated issue which coldplay could actually solve.

Only the card holder can change the order and pick up the tickets. They did refund the Fed Ex charges , but do charge a small fee for box office pickup.

Tickets can only be picked up at the box office by the card holder. This person would have to get them shipped to their address then ship them to you, either in the US or at your hotel or something.
Thanks for clearing this up. Yikes---That means that I can only buy from someone living in England; otherwise its cutting it real close.

gawds...that sounds like just the type of situation i dread finding myself in on that day! :shocked2:
which was why i made the IDD call just to ask about getting the ticket earlier. else i admittedly would never really have been arsed to make that call. oh, & Ticketmaster's FAQs & Help site were of no use for me...all that clicking around just to get a phone number to call cos they never replied to my email enquiry. grrr arggg.
Has anyone already call to make the change and have the guarantee that the box office will work??
i didn't actually get a guarantee from Ticketmaster. it was more like an advice, imo, from the girl attending to me over the phone that box office collection is my best bet to make sure i have a ticket physically on the day cos the ticket's "already there" (her own words).
I changed my tickets to box office pick up. They said tickets would be there by 4pm. Hello! eh...seems like different customer service reps give different answers? :inquisitive:
i was told by the lady i spoke to (& in a rather confident tone too, i might add) that i could pick the ticket up from 12pm onwards on the actual day.
in any case, i plan to give Ticketmaster another call when i'm in London to double check on the collection time/day again. i don't really wanna incur any more IDD call charges (they're a pocket killer!) just to call them about this issue. if possible.

E-tickets are probably the easiest way. You just print out your ticket pretty much immediately after you buy them. My Sound Relief tickets were e-tickets, so they're good in situations where you've got a large-scale event, but sounds like Ticketbastard are being Ticketbastards again.

Is a pain that this wasn't an option...I guess they do it to stop reproduction, but a simple ID check would have solved that.
Would have been far easier for overseas attendees.

Whats an E-Ticket??
Instead of getting the tickers sent to you via the post, you get provided with a link to tickets online where you have to print them off, they use the same tech as the old-style tickets where they have a bar-code and the man at the gate scans the bar-code to give you access.
However like the normal tickets, once the bar-code has been zapped into the system nobody else can enter using a ticket with the same bar-code on, and e-tickets are generally harder to sell on due to them normally having personal details on.
The problem with e-tickets is that you don't have a ticket stub to put on your wall

Unfortunately as we rely on third parties sending tickets on to our office we cannot guarantee an exact dispatch for these tickets."

Ok, so like Angie, I called seetickets to change my order and pick up the tickets directly at the venue!
I was very surprise cause I had someone directly and I had not have to wait!! I had a lovely woman who told me that of course, I could pick up my tickets at the venue and she changed my order. I asked her if she could send me a email confirmation that I'll be picking them up and she did. Now on my tracker, it's said that I will pick the tickets.
I asked her when the box office will be open and she told me 3 PM...:/ Not too happy about this but I go the gig with a friend so I hope he could cue for me while I'll be picking the ticks....
She said that I will need my reference number and my credit card number to pick the ticks.
Now I'm kinda relieve cause I won't be stressing out in september waiting in front of my mail box!!!

Standing means standing...!! The rule is: the earlier you get at the gate, the better you have a chance to get close to the stage!
But a little advice: take good shoes cause you'll have to queue all a day and at the opening of the gates, you'll have to run...fast!!

to be honest, i find that the opening time for the box office has been rather inconsistent so far - i was told by the TicketMaster staff it'll be open at 12PM instead (& i think some others have been told the standard "1hr before gates open").
i'd say the best bet would be either to just show up as early as you can manage or call them up again a day or two before the gig day to double confirm on the opening time.

Knowing ticketmaster you will get the tickets a good couple days before they send an email out saying they have been posted :P
At least Seetickets have reduced their use of SMS delivery instead using royal mail special delivery, so instead of waiting in all day for the man in a car to drop by, cos their depot is a closely guarded secret, you get the regular postman to sign for them or if it's an irregular postman who drops a "when you were out card" get your neighbour to pick them up on his way out of work.

But Ticketmaster has started delivering the Manchester tickets to the UK addresses while mine (as stated on the TM website) has still not been dispatched
Is it always like this w/ ticket delivery?!!?:inquisitive: Is it supposed to thwart scalping & does it work???'Cause here in the US, you order tix and sometimes in a week(via LiveNation) or a few wks(via ticketmaster) you get it in the mail, no matter how far away the event. My problem is usually making sure I don't lose the tickets I've received months in advance, rather than panicking I might not get it in time for the show!!!!
I know it allll be worth it, and I'm sure it will all work out fine for all of us (ColdplayKarmaColdplayKarmaColdplayKarma) but this shit is so stressful:bomb:, and only one tiny step in the whole process! Once we've got our tix, then we gotta worry about which entrance we'll be told to go through, and hope whoever we want to queue with happens to have the same gate assignment:stunned::wreck: So our dreams of queuing together might be messed up:bigcry:
(I'm sorry for adding all this negativity:shame:, just venting:(. I really AM excited and know it'll work out, just the lead up to it is hell.)
I know how you feel Cooky... Ugh this whole ticketing thing is crap. First they say they only deliver to your billing address then they say you'll get it only 5 days before the concert. Wtf? The very knowledge that we are TRAVELLING to an overseas country for a concert should give an indication that most likely we might not be home 5 days before the gig.
When I bought tickets to watch Coldplay in Australia, I got all my tickets a week after I ordered, airmailed from Sydney, 3 months before the shows!

I've bought tickets for the Manchester gig and I was a bit worried as well about the delivery.
Last week I wrote an email to Ticketline about my new adress (because I've moved since I ordered the tickets) and also asked when I could expect to get my tickets.. Got an email back about they would sent my tickets as soon as possibly. Today I got to the post office and picked up my lovely tickets, wuhuu!
My advice for you will therefore be to write to your provider and ask them to send your tickets. Maybe you are as lucky as I were.
Can't wait to see Coldplay live again.

Yeah! I was actually told be See Tickets that they don't send the tickets by the mail to overseas countries anymore and that I should pick them up at the venue when I asked about getting the tickets in the mail a little bit earlier... Here's the mail I got: "Thank you for your e-mail.
Please note that you are required to collect your tickets for COLDPLAY
at Wembley Stadium, London on 19/09/2009 at the venue on the
night of the show.
Recently many orders to overseas addresses, although sent via secure mail,
have been lost in the post. We are unable to track items through the
Royal Mail system once they have left the UK. Therefore, lost tickets cannot
be replaced.
To minimise risk of loss we require that you collect your tickets at the
venue of the show." So I'm now very stressed about picking up those tickets at the box office too... I later got another email with some updates: "Your tickets for the above event are for collection at the venue box
office on the date of the show from 1600hrs.*
You will need to quote reference and provide the
credit/debit
card used to place the order as identification and a copy of this E-mail." That means I need to pick them up when the doors opens??? And the box office is not the same place as where you get in to the stadium or?? But do I really need to bring with me the actual credit card or just the number? It's my mum's so I can't just take it with me to london..

And I don't know what the rules are concerning credit cards as I always had mine with me in the past but at the theatres I went to for example they always wanted to see the card and I had to sign a receipt when I picked up tickets at the box office...
Can't you just take it with you to be on the safe side?

I don't see how tickets get lost in the mail frequently if the ticketing companies use a reliable courier. Ticketmaster just sent me my LCCC ticket via FedEx and it arrived safely.
Now just send me my Wembley ticket too!
Denise

The reason why none of the ticket companies is sending Wembley tickets is because they still don't have the tickets. They are not the usual Ticketmaster or whatever tickets and they're waiting to receive them from the promoter (LiveNation+Wembley Stadium).
For my U2 ticket on the second night I had to collect it at the box office (I chose it as I knew I would be travelling more than five days before the event). The box office opened at 11, they need the order number and yes, they ask for the credit card, I had to go to the west wing box office as the eastern one was only for Club Wembley tickets.
The bad thing about this is that if someone wants to queue up for the pit before collecting the ticket, s/he might end up being in the wrong queue since there are two entrances.

Tickets for the Wembley concerts are expected to be dispatched from ticketing agencies on the 28th of August, and delivery by the 11th of September.

That is just to clarify, tickets are expected to be dispatched by the end of next week, with delivery in the UK by the following week (the date that the Manchester is taking place).
International delivery takes longer as stated on ticket agency websites, and Ticketmaster has a policy of changing tickets from delivery to pick up of no later than 4 weeks before the event (that is, you must ring them before they dispatch tickets obviously :P).
If you want to change tickets from international delivery to pick up I'd hazard a guess that you will only have a couple of days .

actually, i think they were referring to "mail" as in the standard postal service, rather than FedEx, since that's a (much) cheaper option available to int'l buyers. those don't have tracking & some countries' local postal service, e.g. Malaysia  , are notorious for delayed/lost mail.

But isn't the option for international delivery usually registered, signature-on-delivery mail? For the extra amount we pay, they had better not use normal mail :\

no idea how they determine what kind of delivery we're entitled to for those outside of the UK, but there was definitely a Standard Mail option at about just under £4 extra for some gigs' tickets. that's the cheapest option aside from Will Call which is just under £3...but isn't always available as an option, i've noticed. :dozey:

Also my problem with bringing the credit card (which belongs to my mother) used to pay the tickets when collecting the tickets is now solved! My mum needs to write a letter, a power of attorney, that says that I am allowed to get the tickets under her name and with a copy of the card. They also will pay back the transaction money we payed extra for getting the tickets sent to us:) Ok, now I finally can breath again... When I first bought the ticket back in november, I got confirmation of purchase on e-mail.
And on 31th july, I got another confirmationpurchase, but not dispatched I guess.
So I sent an email to Ticketline asking about it (did this yesterday 1/9), and they said:
Thank you for your email. These tickets have not been processed yet. Tickets can be received any time up until 7 days before the event depending on when we receive them from the promoters. If you have not received them by then, please contact us.
I'm supposed to pick them up at a hotel i'm staying at 17/9, lets just hope the hotel gets the tickets and don't loose them..:p

Normally Seetickets will send the tickets out using royal mail special delivery, which requires a signature, they don't normally ask for ID on delivery.

E is a seated entrance. My theory is that because level 1 for coldplay is unreserved (where for U2 it was reserved) they can allow people into the stadium at the stage side.

What does it means?, I have or not to collect my tickets at wembley? Will they send them to me?
First I had to receive the tickets at home, then I had to collect them at the venues office, and now this. ż?
Does anybody knows what the h**l are they telling me with that order status?
Any help please?

Its trange because they email me telling me they wouldn't send me my tickets. But still can read this in my ticket tracker:
Order Details 2 x STANDING & LEVEL 1 UNRESERVED at £49.50 (including £4.50 booking fee)
And I know they discount that booking fee if they don't finally send your tickets.

I have been answered from TICKET LINE that have NOT RECEIVED any TICKETS from the organizer of the event, so they haven't delivered a ticket yet, as they're considering to make all their clients to pick up their tickets at venue 2 hours before doors opening....
ż?
what??? they told me they where experiencing problems delivering tickets overseas...
I think they told you the correct answer, or maybe they dodn't receive enough tickets at time to deliver them overseas.

ticketline replied to my e-mail that they couldn't send the tickets to me and they'd have to be picked up at the box office. Might be the case with all the GA tickets for people outside the UK.

^Oh shit. Then why do they say that they are sent on their website? Why make difference between the GA and seated tickets? I don't get it! :whaaat:

me either... they could have told us before they were despatching or when they actually have despatched the other ones. Why do we have to ask for our tickets first? Also I could have found an address in the UK...
Some other useful information:
"The box office will open at 11am the gates are opening at 4pm.
The gates are printed on the tickets however as they are locked in our secure room I am unable to provide these details.
The box office is located in the West Stand underneath the Bobby Moore Statue."
I'd suggest to just swap tickets then if we'd like to have other entrances because some people want to queue together

I need some help!
I have to collect my tickets booked at Ticketline at the box office at midday (now changed to 11 am) the 19th.
In an email from them, they say:
"Please see the link to the seating plan on the Wembley Stadium website. The grey letters are turnstile entrances which you will be able to use. When you collect your tickets from the box office, the gates will be stated on the physical ticket which I unfortunately do not have access to, however the member of staff at the box office will be able to direct you to the closest gate.
The West Stand box office is now opening from 11am. Normally around this time you do not get large queues at the gates, due to there being so many gates. You can collect your tickets from 11am, then get to a gate in plenty of time for the gates opening, and before the queues get too big.
Alternatively, as you have purchased 2 tickets you could find a place in the queue at a gate close to the box office with the person you have the other ticket for, then go to the box office to collect the ticket, while your friend holds the place in the queue.
Apologies if this email is not sufficient, if you have any other queries please let me know and I will try my best to help you."
This is the link she gave me http://www.wembleystadium.com/NR/rdo...WS_L1_2008.pdf
She makes it sound like it doesn't matter what entrance I wait at. Can this possibly be true?
I have booked GA standing tickets by the way.
I am just afraid of being rejected at the gate by the ticket checker when they open at 4 pm because it is not the gate stated on my tickets!
On the list of Coldplayers entering this concert, are all the people where it says which gate is stated on their tickets - do they all have GA standing tickets?
I can understand that at least H, J, M, N, B and C leads to the GA field. Am I right?

I see! That sounds a little too good to be true... I hope it is though, since I'm picking up my tickets there too:P Maybe those who have general admission tickets can go to whatever gate they want:inquisitive: That would be nice!
