i dont understand how they tour so much. i went to one concert and was tired. Also working on new material and a new album is more important than touring. Does touring make them alot of money?

Hey I for one am willing to wait a year or two for album five if it means getting to see the Viva tour live again. ;)

Yes, it's true touring makes them way way more money than selling albums, but I sincerely don't think the guys are touring again just for the money. They wouldn't have bothered with this second round if they didn't have the energy and enthusiasm to perform live. Come on, it's obvious they love it. :)

also because you already saw them, it doesn't mean we don't want to see them either! :P

We should be grateful that they even tour. Plenty of musicians don't.

what they should have done is instead of going to places they already went to on this leg....they should have just gone to places they havent been and then stoped and worked on the new album......like going to LATIN AMERICA AND SOME OTHER CITIES THEY HAVENT BEEN TO AND THAT IT...instead of touring usa all over again

Cause i wouldnt want to see them twice if there gonna have the same setlist like their doing

Touring nowadays makes every band more money then releasing albums, but I also don't think that they don't tour just for the money.
They working also on new material as they tour and I for one don't actually want to have a new album out yet....nothing worst then artist who throwing an album out every year...overkill!

To RUSH OF VIDA - It's like your taking crazy pills! :D The first time I went to see them, I was so in awe of the whole thing that I felt like it ended before it even started. I can't WAIT to see them again! I could listen to their music OVER and OVER and OVER........so a similar set list doesn't matter to me. Plus, I got WAY better seats this time.

Well, it helps fans like me, who couldn't see them the first time around, and are able to see them this time.

For me, getting the chance to see them live again far outweighs the release of new material, so I'm happy for them to remain touring for as long as possible.:D

^That may be true, but not every country gets a second leg. I just dont want them to ruin LP5 by rushing it. They are making shitloads from the live shows, which they love. Ticket and merchandise sales eclipse album sales and also generate positive press about the band.

Why??? The best thing for them is being on tour.
And I´m so happy to see them again in august!!!!:D

I think they're working on new material on tour. A lot of bands do that. I'd hate to see them rush LP5 too, but just because they're touring a lot doesn't mean that they can't put out a kickass album.

The Beatles toured back in the 60s, and put out two albums a year in the early days. Yeah, I know the music industry isn't the same, but that doesn't mean that releasing material in a short period of time will be bad.

agreed! I've always said this about Coldplay... they are a band that thrive on the road and performances... (as do a lot of bands) so naturally, I think they would be working on new material on the road, dare I even say 'testing' new songs on the road... and once the gigs are over, and they take a few months off... they'll back at The Bakery making wonderful things! :nice: Too much a break I think hinders their creative process...

exactly!

some of us haven't get even a 1st tour leg, and it's not a city, it's a whole sub continent... a big big one

I don't care about a new album yet, it's not like they haven't released anything new since viva (prospekts and LRLRL)

I'm surprised they haven't announced any South or Latin American dates... :/ And its not like they are touring the same cities 2x... they haven't been to NYC since the free gig back when VLV was first released... they're going to NJ this time around and upstate NY which is still a trek from NYC :( But I understand where you guys are coming from... maybe if you voice it enough they'll listen?

Lore

we're almost sure that they'll come in november, probably we'll be the last part of the tour and after that they'll start to record new stuff... we are waiting for official news though

I think the question is.. WHY ARE THEY TOURING SO MUCH IN OTHER PLACES AND NOT IN LATIN AMERICA??! :bomb:

KissesBirds

They are only under contract until they release one more album, yes? Perhaps the company keeps them busy touring to delay this last album and get the most money out of them before the end of their contract. And, they love touring. :D:D:D

I'm quite sure the reason they're touring so much is so they can make as much money as possible. They're not doing it for the good of their health.

You're probably right, I'm sure a big reason why they are touring a lot is to please fans. After all they have a lot of demand to satisfy.

Coldplay has two vacuums attached to me. One is attached to my wallet, and the other is attached to my life force. And they just won't stop sucking out of them. It's all part of an evil plot, I can tell. :sneaky:

Because recording in the studio sucks and playing live owns.

They have said before that recording in the studio and working on albums is the work they have to put in in order to allow them to perform live. Touring is fun for everybody. Playing live, and performing is the best feeling. They were working on viva for a few years, so they definitely have deserved the right to perform live, and go on a big tour. Plus, we all love it. Its giving back to the fans. If they really cared about the money as much, they wouldn't have given out a free album that would have made them 20 million pounds.

I wish they would tour more of Britain though :)
Not easy for a young'un at the moment to get to these dates in Wembley or Old Trafford.

Unless I pass my driving test at the start of July, and there are still tickets available for Old Trafford, I may have a chance! :D
