What is Facebook Connect?
Facebook Connect allows you to login to Coldplaying.com using your existing Facebook account and update your friends & wall based on your Coldplaying activity. Guests will be able to register for Coldplaying without going directly through the registration process.
How do I use it?
New to Coldplaying? Use your existing Facebook account on Coldplaying:
1) Click on the http://www.coldplaying.com/images/connect_light_medium_long.gif icon;
2) Enter your existing Facebook email and password and click Connect;
3) Enter a new nickname you wish to use on Coldplaying.
Already a Coldplaying member? Connect your existing Facebook and Coldplaying accounts:
1) Log out;
2) Click on the http://www.coldplaying.com/images/connect_light_medium_long.gif icon;
3) Enter your existing Facebook email and password and click Connect;
4) Do not enter a new nickname - instead click on the link entitled "Want to use your existing username?"
5) Enter your existing Coldplaying forum account details
6) Your Facebook and Coldplay accounts are now connected.
You are then able to log in either via Facebook Connect or using the normal vBulletin format. However, your username/password will need to match those you use on either Facebook or Coldplaying. If you do not wish to use Facebook Connect, you can skip the Facebook entry by logging in using the normal vBulletin form at any time.
Features and benefits:
Facebook users will be able to receive Facebook notifications when:
There is a reply to their thread or a thread that they're subscribing to;
They receive a new PM;
News-feeds will be published on your Facebook wall, at your discretion, when you:
Log into Coldplay for the first time via Facebook Connect;
Reply to a thread;
Create new threads;
Automatically befriend user's friends
If any of your Facebook friends are also registered on the forum, they will automatically be friends on Coldplaying!

i have almost 150 subscribing threads :confused:
I have to admit, it took me about 30 seconds to hide the application from my home page.

no thanks, I prefer that people I know on Facebook operate under the assumption that I have a life.

I know, I actually spend more time on Coldplaying than on Facebook.
And I'm not on Coldplaying that often, usually come when I'm wathcing a TV show or a movie, so I post during breaks.
ok, you get the idea.
Oh, and I like to keep all my online presence separate (Facebook, Twitter, school email, LinkedIn, and Coldplaying)

Hmm... nice idea. Though I personally don't want my Facebook friends viewing my activity on here, or any forum really.
Impressive that you've set this up for the forum though!

I honestly have absolutely no idea as to why anyone would want to do this.1) Because people can be lazy - they don't want to register for something they might only need once in a while;
2) You might have more people to talk interact with here considering Facebook has 200 million active users worldwide; it will open up a whole host of opportunities for growth on Coldplaying;
3) Facebook is the best social networking site, vBulletin is the most sophisticated bulletinboard software, its a good platform combination.
Not everyone will make use of it. It may benefit guests more than registered members, only time will tell, but for now you can choose to use it or not, doesn't bother me one bit :)

i have to say that i agree :P. if i wasn't paranoid about all my friends realizing i spend most of my life on a coldplay forum, i'd probably add this :P. and even despite what my friends may think, i like to operate under the assumption that i have what is commonly defined as a life :lol:.

busybeeburns
27-04-2009, 11:10 PM
a few compatibility issues which I want the developer to consider. Hopefully this will still be a go-er soon :)
Aleluvscp
27-04-2009, 11:35 PM
So the fact that I don't see an icon has got something to do with the compatibility issues?

Yes, I know that he's trying to do something good.
I already posted here that I like to keep my online presence s-e-p-a-r-a-t-e.
Facebook...
it was cool at the beginning, when I was a freshman, only college students where there, and it didn't have so many applications and sh*t like that.
Whenever I spend a long time on Facebook is deleting "friends" or making friends lists so I can set privacy settings differently for each list :lol:
