hey funkymonkey..........etc
i went off robbie williams for ages for that reason...but now i like him again 8) u shud listen to his song... " the world's most handsome man " ...and the lyrics are just SO in-your-face arrogant that i dont think he expects them to be taken seriously, i think its a stab back @ the media or somethin, for makin him out to be arrogant... :D

Hello, did you miss me?
I know I'm hard to resist
Y'all can come and help me
Pick the sweetcorn out of this
It's hard to be humble when you're so fuckin' big
Did you ever meet a sexier male chauvinist pig
I'm going to milk it 'til it turns to cheese
Tell your babes in arms and O.A.P.s come and
take a piece of me

If you drop me
I'll fall to pieces on ya
If you don't see me
I don't exist
It's nice to meet you
Now let me go and wash my hand
'Cause you just met The World's Most Handsome Man
The World's Most Handsome Man

Y'all know who I am
I'm still the boy next door
That's if you're Lord Lichfield and Roger Moore
Have I gone up in the world
Or has the world gone down on me
I'm the one who put the Brit in celebrity
Give in and love it, what's the point in hating me?
You can't argue with popularity
Well you could but you'd be wrong, oh

Can you make me laugh and sign this autograph
(Though it's not for me)
Grip and grin, shake and fake, name and shame,
Then I'm out of here
It's not very complicated
I'm just young and overrated .. whoa ..

I like his music...never looked at this thread.
His new album...some of the songs on it...no i have actually heard the words on this album...they make me laugh

I think it's funny how he tries to sing in such and nice beautiful voice and then says some thing like..."such a saint, but such a whore" (with vibrato and everything)

But, I do like his music a lot and love his voice.

I love that monkey song... me and my monkey...

woah cindy laupers on..she looks kind of normal too (her hair)

I'm really looking forward to the album that is coming out tomorrow. I really disliked 'tipping' first, and I was wondering if I'm gonna like the album, because I never really liked the songs he wrote with his new songwriter Steven Duffy (except Misunderstood)

But after a few listenings I have to say that I like 'tripping' now, even though he defintely wrote better songs in my opinion.

But after I've heard a the songs of the new album, I have to say I really like it. My favourite songs on the album are probably 'advertising space' and 'please don't die', which is such a sad song, but so beautiful.

I've heard he isn't popular in US, why?

Petit Prince
21-10-2005, 04:29 PM
I've no idea, he once released an album that was a mix of his two first albums, with hit singles like 'let me entertain you', 'angels' and 'millenium' on it. But it wasn't a success.

Maybe most Americans don't like his attitude, I don't know.

Here is a suuuuuuuuuuuuper fan of Robbie's...
I love his music, it's wonderful.. i listen to him since, dunno, maybe when i was 10? more or less...
My first impression of Intensive Care, was that i didn't like it.. 3 years after Escapology, which i think it's his best album, this one wasn't too good...
but now! i loove it... the trouble with me, your gay friend, please don't die, spread your wings, a place to crash, advertising space.. i think they are great songs!! But well, maybe with Guy Chambers, this CD could have been better.. because they have written some wonderful songs, such as Angels;Coffee, tea & sympathy; no regrets ; supreme; come undone; feel; one of god's better people; eternity; the road to Mandalay; and so on...

Now that i stop thinking for a bit... the postcard, did he write it with Chambers or Duffy? (for those who don't know, it's a really nice b-side..)

MrsBerry

It was written with Duffy, one of his best songs in my opinion.

yeah, you're right.. then i realised that...

Someone asked before why he isn't well-known in USA... he says that, as he lives in LA, he wants to be able to walk peacefully.. without anyone following him, or asking for anythig.. he wants to be a stranger, because in England, for example, the paparazis (or whatever it's written..) don't let him alone! he can't go outside without a camera hiden somewhere...

Petit Prince
11-12-2005, 03:53 PM
I'm not that sure about this. I know that he said this several times and i can understand that he likes to live somewhere where most people don't know him. But still, his goal or at least his record company's has to be to break the US, because it's the biggest music market.

So I'd say the only reason why his latest album wasn't released in the US is that 'Esacapology' wasn't a success there.

I like Robbie. I can understand why he might come across as arrogant to some people and maybe he is a bit, but i also think he's pretty damned mixed up and misunderstood. He's a good singer/songwriter and a very good showman imo. I think he's done some amazing songs such as Feel, Angels, Come Undone, Millenium and Let Me Entertain You.

As for the new album, well i haven't heard it. I've only heard Tripping which i was very disappointed with as i think it's just dire and he's capable of much better, and Advertising Space which i've heard a lot on the radio and music channels recently and the more i hear it the more i like it :)

Robbie Williams has moved his Wembley Stadium concerts to the Milton Keynes Bowl after the new venue was beset by building delays. The star's five shows will take place on the same dates from 14-19 September.

Wembley ticket holders will receive an e-mail with further information and those unable to travel to Milton Keynes will be offered refunds. The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi and Take That also changed venues after the stadium's opening was delayed to 2007.

Bon Jovi and Take That have moved to Milton Keynes, while the Rolling Stones have switched to Twickenham. Robbie Williams is playing to an estimated 2.6 million fans around the world on his Close Encounters tour, which began in South Africa last month. The first of 14 European dates is due to take place in Dublin next month.

Building company Multiplex, which is rebuilding the London stadium, said in March that "full practical completion" of the venue would not be achieved until the end of September. They added that two further months would be needed to run test events. Wembley has said "no further events will take place at the stadium for the remainder of this year".

But Tara, 34, said she was "mortified" when news of the relationship became public.
"I was a bit excited so I told somebody - well, you would, wouldn't you?" she told chat show host Terry Wogan.
"I'm only human. I was like: 'It's Robbie Williams!' The next thing I see, it's all over a magazine. I really learned from that mistake."
And I'm A Celebrity star Tara said the romance was still on.
Asked how they relationship was going, she replied: "The problem is, if you talk about relationships that you're having then the relationship goes out of the window. I can't tell you because it would all be over.
"But Robbie's great, that's the main thing."
She declined to say any more, joking: "A lady has no memory." The pair were said to have met up at Robbie's recording studio then spent 10 days of passion at his London penthouse. They have been friends for 10 years and Robbie wrote the song Life Thru A Lens for her.

If you love pop music which songs the same for whatever song they play, then you will love Orson. they spent 10 years trying to break america, failed, released a single in the uk, got to number 1 (lowest sales figure for a number 1 I must add), everybody loves them, but to me they are middle of the road pop shit which you hear in the background of supermarkets.

At least they will make Robbie look better than he is

The day that he is found dead at the bottom of his pool will be a great day for music. Also he's obviously gay, he should just come out and get it over with. Or will he do a George Michael and wait untill his career is in freefall before he decides to cash in on the pink vote.

Robbie ready to quit singing

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2006/07/Robbiepa150706_228x299.jpg

Superstar Robbie Williams has sensationally revealed he could quit singing because his career has become a 'monster'.
The 32-year-old former Take That singer says he doesn't see himself singing again and will decide in the next 18 months if he will go on or not.
But while Robbie says he doesn't know if he wants to be part of the music industry 'machine' anymore he fears he may have become addicted to fame.
The shock announcement will leave millions of his fans worldwide on tenterhooks until he makes a decision.
Experts warn the news could even damage his record company EMI, which took a huge gamble when it signed him to a record-breaking £80million contract in 2002.
On the eve of releasing his new single Rudebox, Robbie admitted he craves a normal life.
"I've got to take the view over the next 18 months and see if I want to be part of the machine anymore, because I don't see me singing again," he said in an interview with the Daily Star.
"It's a question of what I want and where I want to be.
"Can I live without radio picking my song and putting it on the playlist?
"Or is this fame thing something I'm addicted to?
"I don't know where I stand with it all at the moment. Do I take things into my own hands and dismantle this monster and have a nice life?"

So i missed out and was crushed, but luckily they announced a 2nd show so i lined up overnight (yes i am crazy) to make sure i didnt miss out again. i really enjoy robbie williams as a singer/entertainer. he's charismatic and got a great attiitude. i like most of his tracks and never go as far to say he's a bad singer, never, but rudebox is just ... whatever really. it's a miss for me.

when i first heard of robbie it was on mtv asia on fresh (as in fresh new videos) and the vj said "and here's a new one from a british dude who will be big one day, just like his first release millenium..." and he was right, i loved that song when it first came out, thought it was great.

i use to think he was a ladies man, arrogant and ego-centric but he is much more lol a few months ago i saw a documentary he filmed while on tour and it made me see him in much better light. he really is a great guy. go robbie!

After hearing the first couple of singles, I can't be bothered with the new album at all.
I'm still of the opinion that since the split with Guy Chambers, Robbie's output has been very disappointing.
There has been the odd OK song, but nothing has reached the heights of his previous material.

And Robbie sucks at rapping, so he should stop doing it immediately.;)

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2006/10/robbie_228x324.jpgRobbie Williams on stage at the MTV show

Robbie Williams was back to his cheeky self last night as he bared his bottom on stage at the MTV Latin America Awards in Mexico City.
After performing on stage he set upon a very lucky girl. However, she might have been concerned about his intentions as seconds later he put his hand down his pants and bared his perfectly pert bottom on stage - before he snogged the fan.
Performers at the star-studded bash weren't afraid to get their tongues out - in keeping with the shape of the gong which the winners received: a tongue with a stud in it.
Not to be outdone by Robbie, Latino beauty Shakira made sure she was the top totty of the night by sporting two beautiful outfits - clearly picked to show off her best, erm, charms. Robbie might not agree, but a girl can never have enough clothes now, can she?
Robbie Williams bagged the Best International Act award at the awards.

well thats true i suppose. there were some songs which i really liked on intensive care though. obviously not as good as angels or feel but i didnt really expect that anyway.

the new album is very disappointing, how can he be rapping on most of the songs on it? it just sounds horrible.

Ohh, i've seen Robbie live a week ago.. he is AWESOME. he ROCKS.
Yesterday i saw him in the MTV latinoamerican awards, and i almost couldn't believe i've seen him on stage! It was fantastic.. The only problem was that i was on holidays when the tickets began being sold, and my aunt had to buy them for me.. so i couldn't choose my place.. but it didn't matter.. we went to the best place we could (i was soo near him) and it was one of the best days in my life. I've been listening to his music for 5 years, and this one was the first time i saw him. :)

Ohh.. i can't wait any longer to listen his new stuff.. i've listened to rudebox and lovelight (i like both) but i don't wanna listen to the others until i buy the cd. it's very dissappointing to buy it when you already know all the songs...
at first, both songs sound strange to me (as well as when i first heard tripping), But know, i'm getting used to them, and although i liked the couple Guy-Robbie and the fact that i didn't clapped Duffy in the show, this "new style" it's ok..

The album is the begining of Robbie downward career spiral, it will probably get to number one, but he`ll feel the repercusions in the sales of his next album, he`s just totally pissed on all of his fans with this shitty album.

Not that I was one anyway, and find it kind of amusing he can disrespect the people who put him where he his in such a way, I can appreciate the one and only truly great song he was involved in (written by that bloke, Robbie just happened to be there to sing on it) Angels.

I think it's just a matter of time until he retires. He obviously can't handle his own life anymore.. He's either gonna retire soon or we'll read of him taking too many pills and dying a tragic death like Elvis.. NO, I don't want to compare Robbie with The King of Rock'n'Roll, I'm just saying that both of them have serious issues, may it be with career, pressure or drugs..

Oh believe me, I'd like him to release more CDs, too! I don't share the opinions of others saying he doesn't have any talent - he may not be the best singer on earth, but he truly is an entertainer and though I've never been a big fan of him, I joined a friend of mine at one of Robbie's concerts and it was one of the best nights of my life, because he truly knows how to ENTERTAIN people!

And let me tell you, I absolutely LOVED his swing album and I truly hope that the rumours of him releasing another one like this again in the future!

But.. just look at him! He might have had his good times, but most of the time he seems sad, sick and powerless. I feel sorry for him, to be honest.. He's just a troubled kid, he always was!

True. I totally agree with that. Performing is definitely where his strength lies. I saw him in August and he was as entertaining as ever. However, when he performed "Rudebox" it left a nasty taste in the mouth. I thought it was awful and totally "out-of-place".

And let me tell you, I absolutely LOVED his swing album and I truly hope that the rumours of him releasing another one like this again in the future!

Well, yes, i agree he doesn't look good..
He sang in the Latinoamerican MTV Music Awards, and i think that sometimes his face seemed as if he was going mad! He had a really awkward look.. he needs someone to help him..
I've (finally) listened to his new cd, and it's not that bad.. i really like lovelight and kiss me, and also the 80s, the 90s, summertime, viva life on mars, rudebox.. ok, he had released better albums, but i like this.. maybe it's just beacause "it's robbie", i don't know..
Although my opinion: GUY WE WANT YOU BACK!!
What i reaally miss are some nice lyrics, like angels, eternity, feel, one of god's better people and sooooo on.. this new cds, almost all are stupid lyrics, but well.. i like it..

Being a celebrity is the 'best thing in the world' say children

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/nav/enlarge.gif (http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2006/09/williamsGETTY140906_524x700.jpg)

Children under 10 think being a celebrity is the "very best thing in the world" but do not think quite as much of God, a survey has revealed.
The poll of just under 1,500 youngsters ranked "God" as their tenth favourite thing in the world, with celebrity, "good looks" and being rich at one, two and three respectively.
It is the second year running that God has come in at number 10 in the annual survey for National Kids' Day, but being rich came top last time around.
God did come top again this year as the most famous "person" in the world, beating US President George Bush into second place.
Meanwhile "killing" and "wars" head the list of the "very worst things in the world", followed by drunks, bullies, illness, smoking, stealing, divorce and being fat. Dying is in tenth place.
The research, carried out through schools and online, was by Luton First, sponsors and organisers of yesterday's National Kids' Day.
Asked what rules they would make if they were king or queen of the world, the number one response from the under-10s was to ban knives and guns.
They would also put a stop to fighting and killing, telling lies, drugs, bullying, drunks, and smoking.
The children who answered the survey would also put a stop to stealing, but wanted more holidays and more hospitals.
Just over three quarters of the youngsters said they would probably marry later in life, although 21 per cent gave a definite "No".
Most of them want to have children with most opting for one or two.
When asked how much money was needed to be rich, the children quoted figures ranging from £1,000 to £10 million - down on 2005 when the range was £460 to £200 million.
For most of the children questioned, Saturday remains the best day of the week.
Although God comes in as the tenth most famous person in the world, Jesus is at number four and Father Christmas at five.
Also in the top ten were Madonna, the Queen, Tony Blair and X-Factor stars Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne.
Wayne Rooney and David Beckham, who were in the top four in 2005, did not make the top ten this year.
Patricia Murchie of Luton First said: "The idea of the special Kids' Day is to give pre-teens a national voice for their opinions in a very simple format.
"This particular age group has some very clear ideas on how the world could be changed for the better but are very rarely given the opportunity to express them."
Here is a sample of some of the survey's results: What do you think is the very best thing in the world?
1. Being a Celebrity 2. Good Looks 3. Being Rich 4. Being Healthy 5. Pop Music 6. Families 7. Friends 8. Nice Food 9. Watching Films 10. Heaven/God

Well, I saw Robbie Williams last night in concert, and as expected he did not disappoint. This concert was the very last one of the tour, and I had a great night! Lined up all day and got a great spot, so it was worth getting sunburnt for lol. I loved Radio as the opening song, and we got great footage of it on our camera. Ladies, Robbie looked good ;) . Still not sure yet whether which concert I liked better, last nights or the one I saw in 2003. But anyway, loved Rudebox, what a great song to dance to! Highlights of course were Advertising Space, Back For Good (that was really cool!) Feel...and of course Angels, always a crowd favourite. Robbie was his normal charming self, such a funny guy. It was good to hear at the end of concert that he was not going to retire, he said even though he usually says that at the end of every tour, he's def not!
