So what are your views on James, the greatest band on the planet?
I'll be uploading their final ever gig with Tim Booth to the site below next week. And play.com are selling the DVD of the Manchester show in 2001 for £9.99 - you just have to see it.

hahaha
or Laid...
It was pretty cool at the concert.. the lead singer came down into the audience for the song "Sit Down" and was going up the aisles.. and taking girls and dancing with them...
another fav of mine by then is "Out to Get You".. its quite beautiful in its own right.

where did you see them? I don't recognise the flag.

hahaha.. oh... I live in the states.. the different flag is just to keep the "feds guessing" ;)
I saw them on the Lollapalooza tour back in '97. It made me mad b/c I found them to be a really great band but no one else there seemed to and I felt bad for the band b/c they really tried to get people more excited and it was sad that not more of the audience appreciated their greatness. I look back at that tour and realize that they're the only band on it that I still really listen to.

I went over to the States for the original tour in May. Saw them in Seattle, travelled down to San Francisco and the tour got cancelled. Had tickets for San Francisco, two LA shows, San Diego, Phoenix and Vegas. Was well gutted.
And then they cancelled the UK festivals I had tickets for to do Lolla and did Reading instead which I couldn't go to.

Back on the road: James play Carlisle Sands Centre tonight
INDIE band James perform live for the first time in six years tonight when their tour kicks off at the Sands Centre, Carlisle.
Few groups can claim to have been instrumental in 20 years of musical history, but James are one of them.
From their early EPs for a youthful Factory records in Manchester, through their pivotal place in the mid to late 1980s indie scene, the early 1990s Manchester scene and the mid 1990s world of guitar bands, James have been at the forefront of British music.
With a host of classic songs including Sit Down, She’s A Star, Come Home and Laid, the band’s place in UK musical history is already assured.
James can claim to have influenced a whole host of artists including Coldplay’s Chris Martin as well as touring companions The Smiths, who recorded a version of the band’s early single What’s The World, the only contemporary song covered by The Smiths. The band have also written their first new material since 2001’s Pleased to Meet You album.
James’ Best Of collection, released in 1998, went to number one and stayed in the charts for more than a year.
After nine studio albums, the band split in 2001 amid falling sales and reports of acrimony between Tim Booth and bass player Jim Glennie. Booth pursued a solo career and also appeared as Judas in the BBC’s Manchester Passion last year.
The reformed band will have the same six-piece line-up that featured on the top 10 albums Laid and Seven. Support comes from The Twang. Doors open 7pm.

"Hey Ma" will be available on 9/16.

Say something, say something anything
I've shown you everything
Give me a sign
Say something, say something, anything
Your silence is deafening
Pay me in kind
I know the word epic is used way to often these days but Tuesday night's show at the O2 (Bournemouth) was epic :)

Doing Sit Down at the start from the back of the audience and making their way though the audience when singing surprised me

Yes, but the big question is, did everyone "sit down" during the song, like in the old days?:P
Black Rose

The seated area with the church style pews was closed off, so no :P
I know they dropped Sit Down on their last UK tour, but it was nice to see them kicking off with it.
