Coldplay!!!! Why are you doing this to meeeeeee? We're in a recession!

Okay, you win (only because I love you).

I guess I'll see you in May!

So who's in? Tickets go on sale March 23.

I'm naming this Coldplay's Florida Summer Time Double Whammy.

I don't want to be a bad influence...But I think you should do it, hehe :D

I speak as someone who's also in O'Town and seriously considering this road trip. And by considering, I mean it will most likely happen. I wonder if my friend will be in. If not, then it's just me, Coldplay and South Florida for a fifth go-around.

If anything, there could be a Central Florida carpool service, just let me know!

WOWW!

Two shows in Florida in 2009! The one in Tampa in August and one in West Palm Beach! :o

I have already purchased two tickets for the show in Tampa in August, and OMG! I would have known I wouldn't have bought them!, but anyway.... I am going to both of them now! :D

Yay for another Florida show! :D:) Although, I'm not sure I'll be able to go to this one  It all depends if I get this internship. But at least I'll be in Tampa, lol.

Yes!!! I saw there's a presale March 20th for this show..how do we find out the code?

You can go to ticketrush.com (or there's a link to it on livenation.com as well) and register and they'll give you the code for the month.

As for the opening acts, coldplay.com might post it within the next couple of weeks as they did with the last North American tour announcement.

I'm from O Town also and planning on doing this one... already going to Tampa and Wembley! But who can pass up another Florida show! I am going to be soooo broke by the end of the London trip. I plan to drive down also and get a hotel somewhere down there... it's pretty expensive in that area. Went to Cruzan for Radiohead and regular Hampton Inn was like $130!!! Oh no, why was it a bad presale..and where did the presale come from for Tampa?

Live Nation basically screwed us all over in this thread, by not giving us the best available sections (the GA pit, and I believe section 5, 6 and 7?). A couple of us managed to get better options---sections 8 and 10--- during GA sale, though. But still hoping things change this time around...

I saw them last November in Ft. Lauderdale and I want to go see them again in West Palm Beach. I saw Peter Gabriel in that place four years ago. It was in June and it was so hot that night and I was worried about my new car in the parking lot. I like Peter Gabriel, but it was not a good night. I hope I can find somebody to go see Coldplay with me and hopefully it will be a nice night.

Hotels are super pricey there, huh? And West Palm is a pretty upscale town. They're all about the classy there, lol. Driving from Orlando to West Palm is about 2 and a half hours. That's fine when you're all excited and on your way there, but when it's almost midnight and you've gotta get in your car and drive back home for two hours: Torture. Hotel is a smart move, but if carpool has to happen, that's okay :)

The venue is exactly the same as the Tampa one, it looks. Isn't this where they played in 2005, right after Chris was over being sick, and he thanked the doctor during "The Scientist"?

And fingers crossed that LiveNation doesn't stick it to the little people once again.

Don't worry that much about it, there are plenty of Days Inn hotels nearby and most of them are about $49 a night. Check their websites. :)

I do have to tell you that transportation is very bad, so if you do not have a car, you will have to rent one somewhere... :dozey:

Other than that, let see that presale comes along very well. The Tampa show presale was hideous, do a google search to find the presale code. There are some blogs that it.

For Tampa, the best seats offered in the pre-sale were in Section 10 (ticketRush) and Section 8 (radio station code).

I got two seats on Section 7, but that was because:
a) I bought them separately
b) I bought them on the general sale
c) I search for tickets for an hour!

PIT ---> there's no pit for neither Tampa nor West Palm Beach, it's all seats according to the maps in Live Nation.

Yeah that's what I just said.. Cruzan Amphitheater is all seated.
Btw, as a heads up, parking is horrible at this place. I've been to over 20 different venues and I can safely say that leaving this show will be a nightmare since there is no traffic direction at all.

For the Tampa show, Livenation still shows sections 1, 2, and 3 as 'sold out'.

I am still skeptical about these sections. Sections 4 to 10 where sold via Livenation, and there are a lot of people who have tickets in these sections and the scalpers are selling those on eBay. But no sign whatsover of sections 1-3, who knows? - Stubhub's and Razorgator's maps show that there is a pit, and some people are selling tickets for the pit for over $600. There's no pit in this WPB show, it's all seated.

Do you guys think that we would be able to find good tickets (Sections 1-3) during the presale for the WPB show, if there's no pit?

^Everyone has been complaining when buying tickets on the pre-sale and on the general sale for most concerts because it is pretty much impossible to get a seat or seats in the closest sections, EXCEPT if the venue clearly has a pit area for which tickets are made available.

They (Live Nation and TicketMaster) don't make all the tickets available.
1) they don't get all the tickets. Some are distributed among sponsors, top staff at the venues, local radio station sponsoring the band, roadies, etc.
2) Ticket Master has its own scalper site called TicketsNow, along with the other scalpers sites that exist on the web. In regard to Live Nation, they make clear on the 3D seating chart that some sections are VIP seats, that they most likely sell thru VIP packages.

I hope I don't sound harsh, just want to let concert-goers know what's going on so they understand why they cannot get close seats.

[ok, the following is gonna sound like I'm whinning, and I'm probably am]
I really, really, really want to go to this concert.
I was hoping someone from Tampa Bay would go, so we could carpool and share expenses, but apparently no one is going from here :bigcry:

I have money to cover the trip expenses, but I don't wanna break my bank :\
I figured that $$$ can be saved by:
(a) carpooling,
(b) sharing a hotel room,
(c) volunteering with Oxfam at the concert.

If anyone else is planning on traveling to West Palm, please let me know :D

The most expensive seats will most likely be about $130. Note that they'll be expensive, but by no means the best seats in the house. Let's thank LiveNation for that!

I'm on stand-by ready to go on ticketrush.com. I've decided that if I can't score great seats, I'd much rather try to volunteer for Oxfam.

Last minute details have left me going to the West Palm show by myself ( :( ) and if I get to help out a good cause and meet people along the way, then even better. I figured I'd change it up the fifth time around, lol.

Sounds good! I got this ticket, but I'm thinking Oxfam might be better, more fun than going alone. I've always wanted to do it, and a friend of mine did it for their Dallas show and she said she liked it.

The venue is a LOT smaller than the one I saw them in Orlando in and the Tampa one. A LOT smaller. I gave up those section 4 and 5 tickets.. I'm gonna see ebay after the general sale to see if I can get 1 2 or 3

JustSpies84

Is it? I thought it was the exact same size as the Ford Amphitheater. They're both LiveNation venues, and they have the same layout..

I'm still pulling section 4...wow. I guess everyone's got their Tampa ticket and said, "I don't need West Palm," leaving all these good seats still available.

Or not!

Sounds good! I got this ticket, but I'm thinking Oxfam might be better, more fun than going alone. I've always wanted to do it, and a friend of mine did it for their Dallas show and she said she liked it.

How does one go about signing up, though?

The application is on the following link:

http://www.oxfamamerica.org/whatyoucando/act_now/music/concerts_2009/

They haven't listed Coldplay concerts, but I'm sure they will soon.
I sent a Private Message to a girl who has volunteer before, and she says that Oxfam looks for volunteers weeks before the concert.

Keep checking the page to see if they have added it. I'm sure here at Coldplaying there will be a thread.

All seats at West Palm are good. Depend whether you want to be central or not.
It's a very small venue. Even the lawn seats are decent here.

If I can get seats in 1, 2 or 3 I'll go with lawn. I've been to many concerts at Cruzan and it's a great little venue.

I know, pre-sales are horrible, I got my seat for Tampa on the general sale.
Section 7 is actually right after the orchestra section, which is quite small, so I'm on the 17th Row left side of stage.

Lucky those whose venues have a PIT or a floor section (San Antonio, New Orleans), they were able to get General Admin standing

Lola:

Sure, I am gonna have to check on Monday to see what tickets are being offered. I remember that during the presale in Tampa, the Livenation option of choosing your own seats by looking at the map of the venue opened at about 3pm-4pm. And that's where I found my section 8 ticket for the Tampa show.

So yeah, I am hoping to get better seats on Monday. I was looking at StubHub, and I saw that there is a pair of tickets selling for $299 each, and they're in section 1, row T. :o These ones are actually 'cheap', comparing to the average pricing of section 1 which is like +$800 per ticket. :snore:

Congratulations! :D:D:D

I am also going to this concert, as well as the one in Tampa. I bought them in the general sale. Section 7, Row T.

I was nearby the venue (Cruzan Amphitheatre), on Saturday, and I approached the venue to buy the 'pre-sale' tickets in the box office. Unfortunately, they were not selling pre-sale tickets in the box office, and they were only available online. :dozey:

I asked a couple of employees about the venue, and they told me that it is a very small and comfortable venue, and that you get an excellent view of the stage from whichever seat you're in. (Even lawn seats, well, not THAT back of the lawn but yeah).

So for those of you like me, who got upper level and 'cheesy' seats, let me tell you that your seats are not cheesy, and you'll see the boys in a very close proximity. :)

Yes, the venues that have PIT had pit tickets available.
In some cases, they sold out in an hour, like in Indianapolis and Pittsburgh.
In the other venues, they sold out in an day or two (Atlanta, Connecticut, upper NY)

What upsets me is that is CLEAR that there IS a Pit, but LiveNation did not made them available to the public at all.

HOW CAN THEY BE SOLD OUT IF THEY NEVER OFFERED THEM ON THE WEBSITE!?

Oh, and the woman couldn't tell you cuz she's dumb like that.
Seriously, this girl on the "Tickets: availability, price, etc." wrote yesterday that she got Ticketmaster to upgrade her seats at no charge.
She says the first 2 times she talked to women, and the third time to a guy, and the customer service guy was the one who solved her problem.

Yeah, 100% sure that brokers have these.
What happens is that the venue (well, the seating area) is small in itself
Therefore, the pit venue is small so there must be a certain amount of tickets available.

Yup, not even sections 1 , 2, and 3..

Those sections as well, which make up the "Orchestra" section.

The best I got was Section 7 in Tampa, which right behing Section 3 in the orchestra. Sure, this Sec 3 only has 10 rows, so I'm technically on Row 17,

Why GA Pit tickets were not made available for this concert? The click-and-pick seating chart clearly shows that there will be a GA Pit, yet I came here at 10am sharp today to buy a Pit ticket. The "GA Pit" was not even an option. Other fans were able to get GA Pit tickets for Coldplay concerts in other venues last week and today, as long as they bought early around 10am. What happened? Is Live Nation auctioning these tickets or what?

I was checked earlier about Pit tickets on scalpers sites.

Thank you! We'll wait and see, I guess. I'm holding on to my ticket until I get word. I'd much rather volunteer though!

The lot of those pit tickets were not on sale at 10:00am Friday or Monday, I don't care what LiveNation says. That we see a handful of them on these scalper sites for more than the maximum $130 price LiveNation put on the ticket proves this. And I love Coldplay to pieces, but I cannot pay $300+ for a concert ticket :( The most I've ever paid was about $200, and it was for a once-in-a-lifetime show that I never thought would happen, lol.

Maybe someday Coldplay will like my idea of the smaller venue B-sides tour, and then I'll finally be able to rock out to them front row center like I've always wanted. Someday!

Either way, Coldplay two times this summer is a big deal!

Does anyone live around the Tampa Bay area and hasn't bought a ticket yet or has no one else to go with either? I'd love to find a fellow Coldplay fan like who would like to make the trip down to see them.

I'm thinking of, if anything, just driving down there on May 15th and seeing if I can get some last minute opennings at the box office. My cousin did that once before and I did that when I went to see Muse/MCR here. :/

And there will be the scalper guys standing along Sansburys Way about a block before the Amp. If you can't get any at the box.

That would be ME!

I wrote about looking for a Coldplayer in Tampa to drive to West Palm together to go this concert a while ago, it's on page 2 or 3 of this thread.

My post wasn't as long, but I'm in the same predicament as you:

Instead of a friend, it is my sister who's broke (she cannot go because she'll be staying at UF for summer classes)
I'm a hard-core Coldplay fan
I live in Tampa
I'm going to the Tampa concert (as seen on my signature)
I want to go to the West Palm Beach concert, but haven't bought a ticket yet
I'm up for a road trip, specially for Coldplay (Summer starts on April 28 at 4pm for me :D)
I've been thinking the same thing about driving there and buying last minute tickets! Good thing you know someone that's done that and succeded.

Also, there is another Coldplaying member from Orlando who wants to go, she goes by the username of JustSpies84.

OMG thank you! I'm so excited now! We MUST do this. School lets out for me at the end of April and I really don't want to spend another summer doing absolutely nothing so I am all for this Coldplay road trip, yay!

I'll definitely be heading out to this show, if a road trip is easier for some of you, then we could totally go that route :)

This show will probably my favorite, because PETE YORN is opening!! I love him; he's one my favorite songwriters, and he's gonna be opening a few of the shows, including this one! I cannot believe this– it makes up for missing Richard Ashcroft by a single day (and getting Fiona Apple instead) during the Twisted Logic tour.

Woohoo! Who else is excited?!

My only concern is how am I gonna tell my parents? :uhoh:
I mean, the few times I've gone out of town by myself is for conferences, academic-related stuff. AND the fact that I'm already going to the Tampa concert, I can imagine them saying: "why do you need to go to another concert?"

Got it! Wrote you back. And I know what you mean about the rentals. I told my mom about this and she was like 'whaaat? you're going to drive FOUR HOURS down there, that's practically Miami!'. Over-protective family here, and considering the first time I drove out of Tampa on my own was for the Orlando concert last November, she still has some getting used to.

You're right though, they can't stop us! :D And they must understand 1 concert is simply not enough, we must start and finish the summer with Coldplay ;)

Yeah, my dad is a "helicopter" parent, now even worse that he's working abroad. I had to take my brother to the Orlando concert so that I didn't have to drive. I need to learn the way to the Ford Amph before August 9 :laugh3:

Hey dft00, I just noticed you're going to U2 also in Tampa. Sweeeeeeeeet!

To be honest with you, U2 is my favorite band, and Coldplay is my second one. I have been a U2 fan since 1999, and its a dream to see U2 live in concert. Finally, this dream is going to finally become true this year. :nice:

I want to extend you my gratitude to you for putting the update of the GA Pit tickets for this show, without your update, I wouldn't have been able to get them. I am highly appreciated and I felt that something was vaccuming me yesterday to get into this thread for some reason. Maybe fate?

they dont have anymore PIT tickets :(

I am so sorry about that, but I tried to message a lot of fellow Coldplayers around 6pm on 4/09, and NO ONE was online. The tickets sold out in about 8 hours, there were 200 of them. But hey! There are still tickets available in sections 1, 2 and 3 so GET MOVING!

There are some selling on eBay, but no way with the prices.... around $450 for a pair.... :inquisitive: (Again, get moving to get sections 1, 2 and 3 at least, they are on sale right now!)

I'll be updating this thread if I get more tickets in the pit. What I am now trying to do is to sell the other tickets that I'd bought! I hope they sell! :bigcry:

If anyone interested, PM me: 2 tickets for Section 7, Row T. (Selling at the exact face value, 'hard' type/In hand, they're considered premium seating according to the LiveNation venue map ).

This is BS. I was seating in front of my PC at 9:45am the day of the presale, and the best I got was Section 6 row T Seat 7-8. Now just for the fun of it I went to LiveNAtion to see what they were offering and I got Section 1 (row U thought, but still better). So; now I am selling my previous tickets at the Face price ($259 for 2, shipping included).
I also have Section 08 Row G Seats 29 and 30 I paid $259, but I can give them to you for $245.
I was looking for the best seats, I thought it will be easier to resell these ones later, but I see lots of people selling tickets on e-bay and other sites :(
I Also have couple for Tampa (I bougth them before the band anounce the West Palm Beach show).
They are Hard Tickets. I live in Miami. Anyone interested?

I just went through reading all 11 pages of this thread... and let me just say how PISSED OFF I am about the whole GA Pit thing... it's just totally unfair!! Isn't there anything we can do? It's obvious that LiveNation is full of BS. They obviously sent emails to you all saying it sold out at 10am, and then weeks later 200 seats magically appear?!

That's so wrong! Do us fans really mean nothing? I mean, I'm sure I'm not the only one who missed class trying to buy tickets at the pre-sale. No... I got Section 6 tickets. What do I do..? I skip class AGAIN in hope that MAYBE I can find better seats at the General Audience sale, yet nothing! The GA Pit didn't even appear that day... this is sooo wrong. Just so wrong on every level. There really has to be something we can ALL do. I mean we all have a voice and I'm sure someone out there will listen.

So... any ideas?!

Hi and welcome! :nice:

Yeah, I feel your pain about the whole GA Pit tickets thing. I also did my plan in buying the tickets during the presale and the general sale. I ended up buying tickets in sec 7, row T in the general sale. The GA Pit tickets were on sale on Apr 9 circa 12pm, and LiveNation did say that they were sold out and then they say that they are available!? :dozey:

Some ideas that what you can do:

1. Get a group of people (A big one), and make a protest online against LiveNation selling practices. Do it everywhere, Myspace, facebook, etc.

Or....

2. Sue LiveNation? -> Get a good lawyer

You could also show up early at the venue, like a fellow Coldplayer and I are planning to do, and try to talk to a roadie, and somehow convince him/her that we're huge fans, so we get cool tickets.

I totally understand you!! I was sitting in the computer bedore 10 am for the pre-sale of tickets and got sec 6 as well...so I said to myself to just get those because I thought will not get better ones....sooooooo wrong!!!!! weeks later I saw that GA PIT tickets were on sale after I read so many posts saying the people from LiveNation claimed they were sold out...impossible!!!! That is why no one got them...they were not on sale!!! So, one day I checked they were available and couldnt get them just because I didnt have the money!!! why? I am attending two other concerts this summer so, it gets quite expensive even though it is not that much money!! Well seeing that GA PIT tickets were available, I contact LiveNation to switch my tickets and they refused to do it!!! I called many times, even my boyfriend did so I just gave up!!!
I am so upset because last time I got to see them real close and now I wont be able to see them that close!!!

So... any ideas?!

Let's get together for this one. I think we should all sign a letter telling them off. Otherwise they will keep giving it to us.
LiveNation and TicketMaster are selling the worst seats on pre-sales and first days of general sale. And they are keeping all the best seats for later, to tempt "not so fanatic people" into buying expencive tickets.

Grr I didn't get an email.. I don't understand why? What exactly are the qualifications ??????? I only live 30 minutes away.

And I know this is COMPLETELY irrelevant, but I wish The Killers would come to Florida 4 times this year like Coldplay has.. grr I have to fly to 3 different states this summer to see them since they haven't been here in 2 years!

I say stay on standby for Oxfam, because out of the people that they offered to volunteer, sometimes not all of them confirm their appearance to volunteer, and they instead offer the spot to people on a waiting list. So there is still a pretty good chance you could volunteer.

Agreed. I would like to think that if someone sat Coldplay down, and let them know the details of how LiveNation works, they wouldn't put up with their crap and take a stand. But that's what I'd like to think! Right now they probably see it as a business type of situation that has to happen for the show to go on...If they only knew.

I was super bored yesterday, and ended up looking at some old Coldplay set lists. Old, like when they were playing to 150 people in the UK. And I thought, "I can't even imagine Coldplay playing, and only 150 people showing up." It was about 9 years ago. Funny though, because you look at the tour for the next year, and they were playing waaaaay more. And then by the next year that was it. They were huge. They were meant to do it this way, big, and for lots of people. I still wish I could've been one of those 150 in that crowd!

Actually it's strange... I just got an email saying that I never responded to be on the initial volunteer list but that was only because I never GOT the first email...lol

EDIT: okay so apparently my mom is being extremely annoying and won't let me go by myself and the venue is 30 minutes away. OH KEEP IN MIND she won't let me do that but she will fly to New Jersey with me to see a Killers concert which will cost $800, but she won't let me see Coldplay for free... soo you will MOST LIKELY get my spot!!!!!

I thought if you had filled out an application and got an introductory email, you had until early may to reply...I can't remember off the top of my head though.

I just remember I got an email and it said that if I did want to take up Oxfam's offer to volunteer, then I should confirm my appearance. I just emailed the girl back, and I had to be willing to arrive at a certain time, and then be willing to leave at a certain time.

30 minutes away is nothing. Keep buttering your mom up! Tell her that not letting you go to Coldplay for free 30 minutes away, but letting you go to The Killers out of state, is twisted logic!

My guess is that they initially planned on using their stage extensions. The show sold out, so they decided to scrap the stage extension and sell some additional seats. This happens all the time with other bands, and with other ticket providers as well. It stinks, but it's quite common.

Sorry if this has been discussed earlier in this forum, but I am at work and don't have time to read the entire thread. I bought lawn seats and was upset to see assigned seats on my ticket when it came in the mail! I was in that venue early enough for Radiohead last year to get to the front of the lawn for a most decent view. I was hoping to do the same for this show. Are there really assigned seats on that whole lawn? Will they have chairs or something set up? We want to bring a blanket out there and just spread out. Anyone with any insight into this please share! Thanks!

Disregard the row and seat #s for lawn, you can sit anywhere, it just allows the venue and ticket distributor to keep track of the tickets.

No, don't worry abou the row and seat number. The lawn is general admission and there are no seats, you can sit anywhere in the grass where you want, so make sure you arrive early to get a good view. ;)

The row and seat numbers are just for inventory purposes, that helps LiveNation or Ticketmaster (Or whichever distributor) to keep track of the tickets.

Enjoy the concert! :D :escaping:

Does anyone know where there could be a possibility of the boys staying at?

There's a Holiday Inn next to the venue in Southern Blvd, a Hilton in Australian Avenue, and the Marriott in Okeechobee Blvd.
The Hilton is the one closest one to the airport, so I am pretty sure that they'll be staying there. Does anyone know if they are still traveling nationwide in their private jet?

I have bad news. I won't be going to this concert. It's a long story, and I will be starting my summer job this week, so no chance to take a short trip to West Palm.
The only way is to get some place to stay because I'm kinda broke right now after paying for summer classes :(

The fellow Coldplayer I was traveling with also has stuff going on, so she understood when I email her about it.
Fortunately, she happens to like No Doubt, so we'll probably go to that concert together when the Gwen Stefani & Co play in Tampa :D

The pit is sold out, but that's it. And when you change the quantity to 10 adjacent seats there's still three sections where that is available.

The seating chart this morning only showed 1 ticket available the 2 next closest sec. 1 or 2 in each, then sec. 8 only a couple, I think the whole lower areas have done pretty good in selling the seats, most of the upper sections are filled except the very top.

Pit and 2 sold out
Sec 1 one ticket 97.50
sec 3 one ticket 97.50
sec 8 14 tickets at 97.50 and 5 of the upper rows 35.00
sec 7 8 at 97.50 20 tickets at cheaper prices in upper rows of this sec
Lawn only has 100 tickets left

Well, they might have had a chance to sell out if this wasn't their 3rd leg of this tour in the US.:\

And even if the lower sections are totally filled you better believe the boys will be totally aware of any empty spots in the venue.

No, They only allow still pictures. I tried to record a video with my small camera last year on Ft Lauderdale. The security told me that only pictures were allowed. Anyway, I still made some videos :)
If you have small camera that make videos take it with you, but hide at the entrance. Do not take a standar big video camera. They won't allow you to go in with it.

The LiveNation chart shows only 200 tickets for the Pit . Do you think they will sell more than that?. I don't want it to be so crowded in there.
I bought my pit tickets from Livenation and they have a row and seat number (to keep track, I know). But now I bought an extra ticket from a Broker (ACE tickets from Boston) and it does not have row or seat number.
Now I am worried it could be fake. Maybe they just sold extra tickets to brokers.
Any thoughts?

No, the pit only holds 200 people. It is not going to be that crowded, but still. LiveNation tickets for the pit do have a seat and row number, if you bought the extra ticket from ACE Tickets and if it doesn't have a seat or row number, and if it is not issued by LiveNation that would seem fishy.

23 hours to go! :escaping:

I'll be up at 5am, and I'm tempted to do it before the show, but I got to thinking about how awesome it would be to play it for the first time on my way back home. It will keep me all giddy and awake, so I won't think about how painful the long drive is.

Ahh, even if the drive is killer, I can't wait! Summer tour is on! Florida first stop, Florida last stop! It's gonna be a good summer....

Also, don't forget to be nice to the Oxfam volunteers tomorrow. I'll be one of them :)

I hope everyone going has fun and takes lots of pictures and just rocks out the whole night.
