View Full Version : The Plague (1665) vis-a-vis The Bushfires (2009)

I believe the opening lines is undoubtedly & unequivocally about the The Plague that struck London in 1665 & exemplified in vivid detail in German author Hermann Hesse's book Narcissus & Goldmund.
I also believed this song is art accidentally imitating life, with The Bushfires of Australia 2009, in Victoria countryside. Any takers, pundits & advocates of my daring 'in your face' opinion. I have a mailing list, c/o Mel Gibson Conspiracy Theory Fanboi Inc Corp.

Undoubtedly and unequivocally? I think not. I appreciate the insight, but frankly the lyrics could easily reference a hundred historic events of that sort. There's no clear giveaway that it's referring to anything specific.

Well that is the beauty of modern day music & lyrics. It saves the logistic & financial nightmare of making one million important historical figures, or avant guarde scientists, philosophers, businessmen, mystics & presidents into separate films. The power of art is it can transcend all barriers & socio-economic divisions, & mean everything to someone who has an open mind.

Hey Beavis & Butthead ;)...how did I fail? Where I did I go wrong? ONE WORDS CRITIQUES IS NOT ENOUGH...
You seem to expouse so much BS & PC on this forum. Do you use it as lame ass way to pick up women on this site?
Anyway, I'm to lazy to debate with ignorant squares who probably cheated on his university maths exam with answer under the palm of his hands.

lol :) So what if I'm a James Hillier Blount fan? Does that make me redundant & less worthy of opinion? Anyway, MC, please don't sabotage my topic. If you really hate James, please PM me in private.
Anyway, I'm sorry for being a punk in the above posts in response to you, but please don't call me a failure. You can tease/taunt me as ugly, fat, big head, hose nose, crazy, lame, a poser...but NEVER called me a failure or an unintelligible babbler/communicator.
Otherwise be prepared for my wrath of grapes to be handed down on you. I'm a lover, not a fighter. Pardon my pretense & belief in the pen being mightier than the sword.

I recommend therapy. You've clearly lost it big-time!!
It's probably because you've listened to "You're Beautiful" one too many times!!
That song's enough to drive anyone nuts!!

I tried & I failed. My therapist loved me like a little dog. She fed me Freudian scraps that are very yummy, but have a long term placebo effect...that just left me begging for more.

Perhaps? Don't make blind assumptions. Who knows? I may be a ''No Bravery'' fan...
That song's enough to drive anyone nuts!!!
Creepy stalker, falling in love with strangers is the new emo trend isn't it? I trust you would know MC. I G2G outside now & hammer an imaginary nail in my fantastical & even more make believe shed...
