I will (hopefully!) be there too! Driving from Champaign/Urbana if anyone wants to carpool. Not even sure who I'll drag with me this time... Am planning to just buy a couple of tickets and worry about who gets the other one once July rolls around.
So exciting!
Maybe some of us could go together..? >.> I've only made one friend since moving to Champaign and she doesn't want to go. :/ *sigh*

I'm in Mountain Home. North Central AR. We're about 15-20 miles from the MO border.
It'll only be about a 3 hour drive for us! We saw them in KC in Nov and that was a 5 hr trip but it was well worth it!

I really hope I can go!!!!!!!!! It will be between a 4 1/2 to 7 hour drive for me. Maybe longer b/c I have no idea where anything is there! I haven't been any where else in MO besides KC. And I missed the concert that they had there last Nov. :( So this would be my first Coldplay concert!!!!!!!!!!

While the proposed merger of Ticketmaster Entertainment Inc. and concert promoter Live Nation Inc. hasn't yet affected how the public will buy tickets, Live Nation has announced a new ticketing system that will replace Ticketmaster for Verizon Wireless Amphitheater concerts.
Tickets to the July 24 Coldplay concert at Verizon go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, and with that comes the first run of the new system. Ticketmaster can still be used for other venues, including Scottrade Center and the Pageant.
Here are the options for buying tickets for Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.
— livenation.com: It's the only site authorized to sell tickets for Verizon.
— Verizon Wireless Amphitheater box office: 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. There is no service charge at the box office during the first week of sales.
— By phone: 1-877-598-8703.
— Select Blockbuster stores: 3860 Vogel Road in Arnold, 12161 Manchester Road in Des Peres, 15957 Manchester Road in Ellisville and 6400 Gravois Avenue in St. Louis. Additional locations will be added.
Coldplay tickets are $41, $85.50 and $103.50, and parking is included in ticket prices at Verizon unless otherwise stated.

Which did you get?
I tried both the radio and ticketrush presale right at 10am, and I never got an option in the lower sections. After trying about thirty times, I settled for row two of the upper middle section. Since it's a pretty small venue, that's still very good, but not quite as good as I was hoping.

I'm in the Upper middle, row JJ. 2 seats close to the aisle 5. you did better than I did!
I checked again just a bit ago and there were some down in row T on the left side. Closer to the front, but all the way to the edge of the venue.

Row FF upper left center, here. If I'd waited half an hour I could have gotten U in the lower Right section. :\ Oh, well.
... if this is an outdoor venue how are they going to drop the butterflies during Lovers in Japan?!

Row PP :(
And I bought them at 10:05!!
Could it be possible that they didn't open up all of the tickets for the presale? I was thinking about getting on again tomorrow when the reg. sale opens up and seeing if I can get anything better.

It's a possibility. I'm afraid, though, that the lower levels have all gone to ticket re-salers. I just checked stub-hub and they have a ton of seats in the lower level for $700+. Even row Y, the tickets I got, are $400ish.
I've pretty much conceded the fact that unless I'm selected for a ticket upgrade or am able to see Coldplay at a festival, I'll never get in the first set of seats.

Yeah I'm starting to get that feeling too. At least I'm alot closer this time than I as last time. When I saw them in Nov. I was about as far back as you could get.

I MAY check again tomorrow too. Although if I find some closer, it'll make me ill. I can't really afford to spend another $260 this weekend.
None of us are rally that far apart seatwise, we need to meet up beforehand!
Novah, i'm wondering about the butterflies too. Maybe they'll shoot them out of cannons into the crowd! I want some!!

I looked at a 3D image of the theater and it looks like the seated area is covered. So if that's right they should still be able to do the butterflies!

Ooh, I hope so!
In KC we were out of reach of the butterflies. They were directly overhead but the draft pulled them all away! A few came within a couple feet of my outstretched fingertips but I caught none!
This time I'm bringing my NET from entomology class! YEAH!!

HAHAHAHA, nice! I wish I had found a $ bill when I looked for buttlerflies after the concert was over. My sister and I went down from our middle-tier seats to the floor, and grabbed as many butterflies as possible until security asked us to leave (they gave us 15 minutes though)

Oh gah...I'm so glad I'm not the only one who got shafted. :(
When I bought my tix, the website was telling me that there were not 2 tix available for RES1, so I called the box office. I needed 2 for me and the hubs and we ended up with UPPER LEFT WW......not good at all. :( So, after I bought the tix, I was curious and went back to the website, and lo and behold, there were 2 tickets in the CENTER section for RES 1! MM!
I was pissed! Because, the tix, of course are non-refundable. *cry cry cry*
The last time I went and saw Coldplay, we used Ticketmaster and you could bypass the "best available" and manually search each section yourself. LiveNation doesn't have that feature and it's terrible, because I think I could've found better seats had I been able to search each section. Now I'm stuck with bad tickets.
*cries*
Oh...I'm driving up from Northwest Arkansas, too! Siloam Springs to be exact.
EDIT: Just went back and NOW they have activated the "search section" feature. UGH! It wasn't there before! I don't understand why they tell you that the best seats you can get are in the "nosebleed" and then an hour later, you can find TONS of better seats?!
Wow, crappy seats... I'm hopefully seeing them this summer...that depends on if there's still tickets or new seats open up later.... I really want to see them cause this would be my first time!!!!!!! I don't know if to shoot for the Dallas show of this one... We'll see how it goes, right now it doesnt look worth me saving up money... BUT I REALLY REALLY WANT TO SEE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh really? That gives me a little hope. I went to Stubhub and Ebay and you can buy floor seats, but you have to pay close to $1000 for one ticket.
It's just sickening. All the floor seats should "technically" be $97.50 and it should be first come, first served on all of those.
It's sad that greed prevails.

yea, the whole livenation things is BS. i ended up getting tickets to, gave up three rounds of choices, to get somewhat of what i wanted. my tickets for the last 2 concerts of the viva tour were better, ie war child event, and chicago this past july. i am in section oo. doesnt look bad on the verizon amphi website, but last i checked all the seats look the same on the 3d view. and the price of $97.50, these are the most ive had to shell out for the viva tour. good ole livenation here.

Back in October when Coldplay came and played OKC, OK....my hubs and I got our tickets A WEEK before the show and we were dead center, front row of the 200's and I though were pretty good seats considering we got them a week before the show.
I was on the site the minute the box office opened and tickets went on sell and the best I got was LEFT, WW....and the seats are all the way to the left, 63 & 65.
So stupid. Later, they had seats open in the center section, rows LL and MM, that weren't there 30 minutes previously.
Live Nation bites.

Hello everyone. I've been in search of pit tickets for this show since the minute the pre-sales started and have found none. I thought maybe they were allocated to only a select number of people in their fan club, or perhaps were never for sale to begin with. I called the venue directly to inquire and they said they did indeed sell pit tickets for this show. I have been searching this site's forums, e-bay, stub hub, and every ticket broker/scalper site I know of and still come up empty. Does anybody here have pit tickets they are wanting to sale? Any information on how to get a hold of up to 2 pit tickets for this show would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hey everybody! LiveNation is now selling General Admission PIT tickets. They were not available previously but they are now! I'd been looking for these tickets since the pre-sales. Finally! My search is over! I saw Radiohead at this venue from the PIT and and there was nothing between me and the stage! LiveNation is selling General Admission PIT tickets for $97.50. As long as this setup is standing room only and they don't actually have chairs set up, should be well worth any price. :)

D'oh. I can no longer go to this show. :(
It's okay though--I have tickets for Indianapolis and I have better seats for that one, anyway! :D
So before I put them on eBay is anyone interested? I don't want to make a profit because I hate scalpers, so I was planning a buy-it-now for both at $260, which is what I paid during the presale. Upper Left Center section, row FF, seats 47 and 49. (They are together--there is no seat 48 ;))
*sigh* Those of you who are going, enjoy it for me. I'll be doing my best that night to not think about Coldplay. :\

I just saw that LiveNation put out the GA Pit seats...and I'm a little flustered because I snagged an ugrade from Upper Left, WW to Lower Right, N. *sigh* We paid another $260 for them and if I would've known there was going to be a pit, I would've gladly held off paying that $260 for the extra tix for pit seats.
*sigh* Stupid Livenation.

when i saw them in indy i got there about 4 hours before the gates open and sat outside with fellow coldplayers...and got in the front row. try getting there 4 hours before the gates open and you should be in good shape. also, in indy it was a verizon wireless venue and they had a thing called "jump the line" and if you were a verizon customer they let you in 5 minutes earlier than everyone else. it helped that i was, so i got in early. so if you're with verizon, and they're doing a "jump the line" than it will make it even easier to get up front. however, they only let in the first 100 people with verizon phones, so you have to be one of the 100. that is if they do it like that down in missouri

I'm so excited!
So....has anybody heard of any of their supporting acts?? I mean...has anybody heard them? I went to Mariam and Amadou's website and it was................wierd.
I was just wondering.
I checked both the bands out and thought they were both a little odd. Not really my thing.....

Hello fellow Coldplayers!
I will be in the pit also, for my fourth Coldplay show. Never been in the pit, though. Sure to be the highlight of my life so far. ( I'm only 17, but I'm sure it will remain the highlight for a long time :] ).

I don't know if it's close to downtown St. Louis....I would think not since it's in Maryland Heights and not St. Louis proper.
Also....just checked the weather forecast for Friday, July 24th. According to the forecast, it's supposed to be high of 85 and lows in the 70's! Woohoo! There are supposed to be isolated T-storms the day before, so hopefully the forecast holds!

I have never been more excited about anything in my entire life. I can't count how many times I've ran the experiance thru my mind. After I heard the tracks from LeftRightLeftRightLeft, I just knew I had to see them.
When my aunt called my mom and told her that she had an extra ticket and wanted to know if I wanted to go, I didn't know whether I should have cried or jumped for joy.
I honestly don't think I will ever go to a concert that will be better than Coldplay. It is going to be so absolutly freeking amazing, and I don't think I can contain it.

1. I caught two butterflies from the air with my net
2. I touched one of the Yellow balloons
3. I was only about 20 feet away from the guys as they ran to the 2nd C stage!! (which was behind a pole, oh well)...
And I got a shirt (thanks Jimmy!) and I am so glad I didn't bring my camera in because I was waaay too preocupied with it in Indy. This time I just absorbed the experience.
Unfortunately I think I got about half a joint's worth of 2nd hand smoke though ().

I BARELY got my net through this time. The woman said I could take someone's eye out with the end. And I made a sad face and I told her about the butterflies and she got all :\ and then let me through. :nice:
Good thing, too because without the net I would have gone home with none except what I could scrape up off the ground!
The first one I grabbed just as another guy jumped to grab it. He looked at me and smiled and gave me a "you can have it ;)" gesture. It was sweet. :D

Phil was sitting in front of me, just beyond the barricade for the majority of the show. During the b-stage set, I yelled, "Phil," stuck out my hand, and voila: he smiled and shook for a good while and then sat back down to take pictures.

Last night at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Coldplay (http://www.coldplay.com/) delivered exactly the type of set you would want from it - and then some. That's not snark, either: For nearly two hours, the British quartet unleashed hit after hit after hit with little self-indulgence and plenty of spectacle.
In fact, the entire show was geared toward its fans. A tan, fit Chris Martin made sure to spend some time singing on the wings of the stage, making the cougars ladies in those sections squeal. The band set up on a satellite platform in the pavilion for fantastic, raved-up, electro-grooved versions of "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" and "Talk" - think INXS and New Order, respectively -- and a solo-piano version of "The Hardest Part."
Just a few songs later, the band jogged to the lawn and did a quick, low-key acoustic set for fans there, highlighted by a cover Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." And as every person left the venue, they received a free CD copy of the Left Right Left Right Left EP. I'm pretty sure that if I asked Chris Martin to come over and do some gardening for me, he'd be over in a heartbeat, wearing a crooked grin and bringing his own lawn equipment.
But this hospitality didn't feel like pandering, mainly because the band doesn't seem above its adoring fans. Coldplay frequently draws comparisons to U2 - and that band's "Magnificent" was one of the last tunes played before the show started - but the Irish quartet revels being in the stratosphere. Even its unscripted moments feel epic and important. Coldplay, however, seemed to thrive on being down-to-earth: The members of the quartet cracked each other up, grinned while busking on the lawn (and amused by Martin busting out a harmonica) and generally seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Martin especially came off like a lighthearted goofball. He false-started a song after someone's declaration of love seemed to distract, and he cracked himself up after flubbing announcing the name of St. Louis: "Pronunciation was never my strong point." He apologized for taking so long to get back to the city by assuring that they've "rehearsed this 142 times before" so the show would be worth it. And during "Viva La Vida," as the crowd chanted the final wordless croons, he dramatically sprawled out on the stage, as if he was too out of breath to continue. His onstage energy was also endless. When he wasn't prowling and pouncing like a champion boxer, he skipped around like a court jester- and during "42" even switched from piano to acoustic guitar and back mid-song, with impressive precision.
And sure, that particular song recalled Radiohead (the electro-tweaked breakdown) and U2 (specifically the acoustic-based strums of Rattle & Hum). But four studio albums into its career, Coldplay has assimilated its influences into a solid, unique sound. Rock, pop, Britpop, piano-rock - whatever the label, the band does it well. "Politik" featured strobe-ish lights and pounding heavy rock guitars, while the band slightly sped up Parachutes' big hit, "Yellow." Martin (impressively) took the piano for several songs, including a joyous "Clocks" and newer song "Glass of Water." Keyboards and organ dotted Vida tunes well, without overpowering their nuances.
The delicate, more sensitive Coldplay tunes - an acoustic version of "Green Eyes," a ruminative "Fix You" - perhaps revealed the secret of the band's success. The universal appeal of its lyrics shone through; their simplicity resonated in a very grounded, basic way. It became easy to see how detractors might find Coldplay's concerns - loss, heartbreak, comfort, finding home, finding love - insipid or pedestrian. But hearing these sentiments while surrounded by thousands of people is a very different experience - one that's restorative and triumphant.
After a brief opening set by '40s-esque rockabilly-blues act Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Amadou & Mariam took the stage. The married duo hails from Mali; at this show, a bassist, keyboardist, drummer and two singers/dancers backed the pair. A melting pot of styles and influences - poly-rhythms, deep funk bass and Amadou's evocative guitar playing -- eventually coalesced somewhere between Talking Heads and Stevie Wonder. The danceable grooves brought the crowd to its feet by the end of the 40-minute set, a heartening response. Here's hoping they come back to town one day, perhaps at a venue like the Sheldon.
Critic's Notebook: I've been wrong all these years to say that Coldplay was dad rock. No, Coldplay is cougar-rock. The number of ladies at the show -- of all ages, mind you, but definitely of the mom-age persuasion - swooning for Chris Martin was surprising. It actually makes me wonder if some people despise Coldplay because Martin is such a heartthrob.
The band's stage accoutrements showed excellent attention to detail, and added to the show. Balloons filled with confetti floated over the crowd during "Yellow," while alien-esque spherical figures dotted the stage for the rest of the set. Martin also started a cell-phone wave - which was somewhat ridiculous, but it worked.
During "The Hardest Part," drummer Will Champion played on stage while Martin sat in the crowd and played piano. The video projected had both heads superimposed in one screen, cheesy '70s-performance style.
This was Coldplay's first visit to St. Louis since 2005, when it played at the same venue and Rilo Kiley opened.
Personal Bias: My dad traveled from Cleveland to see the show with me. (Apple never falls far from the tree. And I don't mean Martin's kid.) He enjoyed it immensely and was really tickled that Coldplay gave away a free CD to everyone leaving. Coldplay in St. Louis: Dad-tested - and approved!

Novah, was that you I talked to this morning? I was getting coffee and talked briefly about the concert and Tshirts with someone getting oatmeal!
OMG, last night was awesome!! It was my first Coldplay concert and everything was perfect! The section I was in was full of real fans and we all sang and jumped around and danced!
I got some butterflies on the way out!
I TRIED to take pics with my daughter's camer, but am apparantly challenged in that department. They are all crap. :(
Oh well, it was sooooo worth the 5 hour drive up here and the 5 hours back today. I hope this isn't my one and only Coldplay concert!
Well, time to start packing and hit the road! Safe travels to everybody!

Phil was sitting in front of me, just beyond the barricade for the majority of the show. During the b-stage set, I yelled, "Phil," stuck out my hand, and voila: he smiled and shook for a good while and then sat back down to take pictures.
I'm actually in the Comfort Inn, and just returned from a well-working ice machine. :)
:laugh3:That's what I did too(only no hand-shake..just that gorgeous smile :D)
Im glad you got to meet Mr. Harvey too!
Did you take any pictures of him?

“We rehearsed for this concert 142 times in cities around the world,” said Chris Martin from the stage Friday night at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.
The lead singer and keyboardist for one of the world’s most popular rock bands Coldplay was referring to the fact that its current tour has been extensive since the release just over a year ago of “Viva La Vida,” its fourth album.
The concert showed just how professional and controlled Coldplay has become with all that touring. Following the same basic structure to the show they’ve been doing for this tour, Coldplay delivered all the hits and many other audience favorites with a nicely developed ebb and flow to the energy level as the night went on.
Opening with “Life in Technicolor,” performed in part behind a huge backlit black curtain which revealed the general shapes and shadows of the band members, Coldplay began with a burst of excitement from the latest album before slowing down for one of its trademark ballads, “Clocks,” which is built on Martin’s near-minimalist piano chords. “In My Place” was more jubilant, as Martin bounded recklessly across the stage and out into sections jutting into the crowd on each side.
For “Yellow,” the song which kickstarted the band’s unstoppable climb on the pop charts back in 2000, hundreds of huge yellow balloons were released into the audience, creating a surreal fantasyland experience that would actually be topped before the evening was over.
Chris Martin’s vocals, which can share some of the bombast of U2’s Bono, but which frequently hit a lovely soulful tone to match his undeniable melodic gifts, were in great shape all night, whether he was seated at the piano, standing still playing guitar, or skipping around the stage with an abandon curiously reminiscent of a 5-year-old not convinced anybody is actually watching.
The rest of the band — lead guitarist Johnny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer/harmony vocalist Will Champion — weren’t showmen in Martin’s manner, but played with precision and intensity throughout the concert.
Other highlights included “42,” which alternated between a haunting piano balladry and a riveting and highly danceable techno break; the very earnest organ ballad of “Fix You,” the unstoppable exhilaration of the very simple yet incredibly powerful “Viva La Vida,” on which Champion pounded a kettle drum harder than such an instrument could ever have seen before; and the somber set closer, “Death and All His Friends.” For “Lovers in Japan,” the crowd was pelted with confetti of thousands of multi-colored paper butterflies, a beautiful sight indeed.
Twice, the band left the main stage to play on satellite stages set up within the crowd. As his bandmates huddled around a small piano, Coldplay put together a techno remix of “God Put a Smile Upon Your Face,” then left Martin to play a solo rendition of “The Hardest Part.”
Even better was the acoustic set they performed on a stage set up on the lawn in back. With Champion and Buckland on acoustic guitars, and Berryman on mandolin, they sang a spirited “Green Eyes,” and an incredibly touching cover of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” added to the show a few weeks ago after the pop legend passed away.
Before Coldplay, Amadou and Mariam, two blind musicians from Mali in West Africa, led an exhilarating band through a set of polyrhythmic pleasures which could easily have gone on for a couple more hours. Amadou’s guitar playing, in particular, was a delight, combining blues-inflected leads with stunning rhythm riffs.
The show was opened by Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, three very young (16 – 21) siblings from London who have fallen in love with rockabilly, ska, traditional jazz, and several other roots music forms which long predate their births. Each of the siblings played multiple instruments, and abetted by their parents on guitar and bass, this family group was highly entertaining.

The show was awesome! It was hilarious when Chris said "People in Missouri make a f*ck of a lot of noise" before dwnq
Yeah, he's actually been doing that alot recently - he said the same thing at ALL three TX shows (well without Missouri ;)). I didn't realise he liked to swear so much!
I was happy to see the 'mad scientist' laugh again! He did that in Dallas two or three times but I missed recording it :(

i'll be posting mine soon, I just woke up because i made the 5 hour drive home from st louis after the concert, and am going to the show in alpine tonight. I was in the front on the railing in the pit! good stories to tell too, i.e. shaking Phil Harvey's hand and having a quick conversation with him!

I got to the venue about an hour before the gates opened, and I was probably the fifteenth person in line. I felt good about my chances of snagging front row in the pit. Then the "Jump the Line" line for Verizon customers grew and grew, and my hopes shrank. Somehow, though, those 200 or so people that got in before me must've all been in the lawn because by the time I finally got in, only about ten people were in line to get wristbands for the pit. I ended up front row, just to the left of center, on the Jonny side of Chris.
The couple of hours before Kitty, Daisy, and Lewis were passed making small talk with people around me regarding Coldplay and the St. Louis Cardinals. (Couldn't really ask for much better conversation than my two favorite things in the world. :P) I sort of felt bad, though, busting everyone's bubble around me by informing them that, no, they wouldn't be hearing Spies or White Shadows or A Warning Sign, etc.
The crowd was surprisingly loud for the openers, which were really quite cool. I highly recommend a KD&L show. Their music is a blast and all three of the siblings are amazingly talented. Amadou et Mariam were pretty damn awesome, too. And even though I got the feeling that I was one of the only fans there that actually listened to the duo's music regularly, everybody around me seemed to enjoy it--especially the ten minute jam that closed the set with a sick drum solo and tribal dancing. Both openers felt more like festival performers than concert appetizers.
The dancing roadie and The Blue Danube followed, of course, and the looks on the security guards' faces as they watched the crowd sway to a classic waltz was fucking hilarious. Somehow I doubt they see many teasers like that.
Chills kicked in as soon as Jon Hopkins's intro to LiT hit, and honestly the next few songs were a blur. The crowd was pleasingly loud, singing along to just about every word until GoW started, which I guess means a lot of people failed to pick up Prospekt's March. Jonny's guitar work on that one was really brilliant, though--it seemed to have a grungier kick to it, at times totally drowning out Chris's chorus. The crowd came back around on 42 and Fix You, though, honestly getting louder than ever on the latter.
During the b-stage set, Phil came right in front of the pit barrier to snap pictures, and I yelled out for him and shook his hand. It looked like several other people in the front row did the same, while the rest of the folks kinda looked at us like, "Who the hell is that?"
The Viva oooh's were spectacular, carrying on without prompting by Chris at several points in the night. And Lost! might've been the performance highlight of the night. All four guys seemed seriously into that one.
By the time the acoustic set started, the pit people were so into the show that everyone around me sang every word to all three songs, even though you practically had to squint to see the band.
Politik/LiJ/DAAHF slayed, of course. And then The Scientist brought several people to tears. Will threw his drumsticks to the kids right next to me, well within reach of my outstretched arms. (Today, I'm feeling a little less happy about letting them have them. :P)
I only heard positive comments after the show, even from a few people who had just sat out in their cars and listened outside! And getting LRLRL was an easy process.
There were some classic Chris moments, of course, like being disturbed during THP by a "muscular 32 year-old man" shouting, "I love you;" going on about mispronouncing St. Louis; screwing up the beginning of DAAHF; having a bizarre cackle just before The Scientist; and giving Phil a smirk and a middle finger as he took his picture... Although, at times it did feel a bit like the band was on auto-pilot--especially after seeing the jamming of the opening acts.
Even so, this was without a doubt my best concert ever (although I will admit that Radiohead's tube-lighting show was a better spectacle), and I'm currently fighting concert withdrawal. It was just such a surreal experience, being literally ten feet away from the band... I'm not even sure I was fully able to appreciate it. Listening to LRLRL today, I wished so badly that I could do it all again.

just thought i would share some of my top moments from friday's show:
1. Meeting Phil Harvey! during the hardest part, my friend nudged me and said, "look behind you." i turned around and there was phil! i gave him a salute and he saluted back. then my friend turned around and shook his hand, and i did the same. he said to us "how do i know you?" and my friend jokingly said "i think we're friends on myspace!" phil got a good laugh out of that one, and then we told him that we didn't "know" him, but were just die hard fans who knew who he was. he was in the front of the pit taking pictures for a good amount of the show.
2. I also loved it during Politik, when Phil was taking pictures of Chris at the piano. Chris saw him, started making faces, and then gave him the finger! hahaha
3. After Coldplay came back on stage for the encore, Chris leaned over the railing and handed a girl what looked like a folded piece of paper. The girl had a sign at the show that said "i'm broke, but i came to see coldplay." so what the folded piece of paper really was was CASH! i don't know the amount, but it was enough to almost bring the girl to tears! just another reason why coldplay is the best band out there, they truly care about their fans.

Some of the people around me didn't know what was going on when they headed to the B-stage! I think they thought it was over! They were all very impressed that the boys would go our into the audience like that, and even more impressed when they went back to the lawn for the C-stage.
I agree the opening acts were both awesome! My daughter wants to find a CD of Amadou & Miriam. She thinks her roomies this fall will like them too. I liked how Amadou kept saying "thank you Coldplay!"

Oh, that show was amazing! My husband and I were on row N....right between the main stage and the B stage. The seats were WAY closer than we thought! My husband, who is 6'4, managed to get some awesome pictures of Chris as he came out onto the wing and I'll post them later. We just got home from vacation (the Coldplay show was part of it). I even snapped a picture of Phil while the roadies were setting up after M&A.
I sang to every song and danced like a madwoman! The left kinda got "left" out on the balloon action, but Chris came over and threw glowsticks at us and we manged to snag some. We also got showered with butterflies and managed to catch quite a few! I was still a little disappointed with the people around me. They just stood there bobbing their heads and not singing. There was a dude 2 rows in front of me who jumped, sang, and generally spazzed out and I wished I were standing next to him so I didn't look so out of place....cause I was doing the same.
It took us 1 HOUR to get out of the parking lot, though! The fact that two roads running beside the venue are 1 way only is epic FAIL. We were parked back in G3 and witnessed a wreck and then saw a girl jump out and start cussing out the drivers and passengers....fun stuff. So, not only did we get to see Coldplay, we saw a nice parking lot show!
I'll be sure to post pics later when I get the rest of my stuff sorted out from vacay!

^Yeah, I noticed that the balloons seemed to be stuck toward stage right. They eventually made their way to the front, but I don't think the left side ever touched them.

Did anyone take some pictures/videos of Chris doing these crazy things, like laughing about the guy who told him "I love you" and giving cash to the girl?
I'd really like to see them!!
I didn't find anything posted here in this thread. Neither in youtube.
Thanks!
And thanks for all the great reviews! :)

Well, I have pictures, but not of those specific things you requested. We didn't get any video, just pictures, and I'm in the process of photobucketing right now.

Most of my pictures turned out blurry cause the hubs was shooting them with no flash. The flash looked even worse. We have a Sony Cybershot....so, not one of the top-of-the-line cameras, but it worked.

Great pics!
I think my daughter's camera is a Sony Cybershot, but my pics were crap. Of course we were farther back and I'm an awful photographer.

Coldplay, Kitty Daisy and Lewis @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Maryland Heights, MO
My evening for this concert coverage started off rather bumpy for this concert as I was unfortunately not allowed in to photograph Kitty Daisy and Lewis who was the opening act for Coldplay. I was sadly stuck at the VIP entrance pleading my case with security or making frantic phone calls to their tour manager. Without the photo pass, I was stuck outside the venue for roughly two hours until Coldplay took the stage. Luckily, I was still able to hear the soulful sounds of Kitty Daisy and Lewis, which to my surprise features a band so young in age (16-19) and with such a strong sense of family as some of their parents were also in the band. I encourage everyone who is coming for Coldplay’s show to beat the foot traffic and show up early for Kitty Daisy and Lewis; you will not be disappointed.
After contemplating a trip to the casino to kill time, I consulted my bank account and realized sitting in the parking lot was more financially responsible. Upon being escorted into the set up for Coldplay, I found myself in an aisle amongst a sea of people just beyond the pit. As there was no photo pit for this tour, I primarily used my 70-200 f/2.8. I really didn’t know what to expect in regards to how their live show would be, but for all those Coldplay haters, see them live and then get back to me. The material from their new album in particular, Viva La Vida or Death And All his Friends, was particularly effective in a live sense, more so than recorded. As a special treat, the band for this tour has several mini stages set up around the venue so if you don’t want to get stuck out of your seat for awhile, be sure to get all your beer and nachos beforehand.
Before closing out the show that they’ve said they’ve rehearsed for 142 times around the world, the crowd was blanketed with glow in the dark butterflies as the band performed “Lovers in Japan.” As the show was coming to a close, Chris made sure to inform the audience that they were going to be treated to a free copy of their EP Left Right Left Right Left as we exited the amphitheater
