I am definitely going!!!
For those who've never been to the Cynthia Woods Pavillion it's a really nice outdoor concert stage. And there's also a small pit which Im gonna try my best to get tickets for if its not more expensive.
Oh and imo there isnt that much seating so y'all should rush to the presale to get tickets otherwise you're gonna be on the lawn.

Can someone tell me how to get tickets to this show- besides going thru TicketMaster, or the other routine scalps ?
In all of my concerts to see Coldplay, I have yet been able to buy them directly from the group , and at face value. Always have to buy thru a 2nd or 3rd layer , and the usual $80 ticket will cost me upwards of $130.
I am in need of 12 tickets to take the girls in my family (daughters, grand daughters, daughter-in-laws) :D
( Did I mention that Paw-Paw will be paying for all the tickets? :laugh3:)
Seems there should be a way to get tickets so that we can all sit together, or reasonably close to each other. We all love Coldplay, have been several times and wish to keep going to these concerts. We drive from Baton Rouge to Houston to see them so we would like to stay together at the concert.
Someone please advise me the best way to get tickets before the concert is sold out in 3 minutes to the ticket companies that resell them for a scalp. :\
Any help would be appreciated.

From the seats, views are good throughout as long as some giant isn't in front of you. Can say about the lawn as I don't do lawn. :P
If you are from out of town and need a hotel, try the Drury Inn at the Woodlands. It's really close and a nice hotel.

The purpose of this thread is NOT to secure tickets, it's to discuss the concert. Anchorman works for Coldplay's offical site and doesn't visit here, so questions directed at him are pointless. You can however try contacting Live Nation. This is what I could find at the Woodlands web site :
Group Sales
Most contemporary/rock/country/pop concerts do NOT offer group tickets. To check on a specific concert and group ticket availability, call Live Nation at 713-693-8600 and ask for the group sales department. Please note that the ticket price for these concerts generally is NOT discounted for groups.
Getting that many tickets "seated" together is gonna be impossible, IMO. If you truely need them all together, try one of the ticket agencies, but brace yourself for the cost, I can promise it will be most painful! You could always do lawn seating because lawn is general admission, so no worries about seats being together. You will just have to purchase in groups (of 4 most likely). No one is gonna be asking for lawn from the beinging of the sale, so you should be able to purchase all 12 lawn seats if you start buying as soon as tickets go on sale. Good luck.

Texasluvsjonny-thanks for the info. Excuse my simplicity, am a newbie on this site. Your help is much appreciated and I will try your ideas.
Cost per ticket is a factor, however, sitting close or together is most important to us.
Thanks again for your help.
Anyone else?

Reserved are gonna be over $100 each after service charges. expect to pay 4-6 times that if you have to use a ticket agency. If you can line up early, lawn is your best bet, will cost you less than $50 a ticket even with service charges.

I am trying NOT to use a ticket agency, which brings me back to my original posting- where can I buy tickets from the Coldplay site?
You know as well as I that the big ticket agencies buy out a concert within 5 minutes of the tickets going up for sale. They turn around the tickets to you and me for 50-100% profit minimum. In most states this is illegal.
I would just like to knwo where I can get logged onto that would allow me to buy 12 tickets when they go on sale, and eliminate the middle man.
The earlir posting by "Anchorman" id say that "TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE HERE".I took that as tickets could be bought directly from Coldplay, or an authorized agency without the 50-100% increase, and (family, small, friend. groups coupld get a chance to buy.
Short story here- its NOT the money so much as I am in making plans to fly to Dallas the night b4 the 22nd with one daughter to catch that concert, then fly to Houston the next day to catch the 22 july concert. :D
I just want to ensure we no1.-have tickets for all 12 of us
2. we are not held up by a crook that wants the 4-6 times face value you mentioned.
Thats all anyone following Coldplay as we do deserves, and judging from your posting, like you too.
The average Coldplay concert goer desrevs a right to find tickets at a reasonable price, just b/c one can not buy 100 tickets and sell the 97 they dont need doesnt mean they should pay 4-6 times the face value.
What are the avenues to "TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE HERE" as posted by Anchorman, other than what you replied earlier?
Hope I have not pissed you off, I am only trying to find a few facts and indeed help everyone score on tickets without the scaplping.
Thanks for helping,
Mike J.:P

In Anchorman's original post the "here" portion links you to Live Nation. The band doesn't not offer tickets to fans themselves. They did sell tickets to fans on the X&Y tour, but for this tour you have to buy through either Live Nation or Ticketmaster for all face value tickets. And then ofcourse, both "auction" off their better seats. The Woodlands is tough because a large section of the better reserved area is pre-sold as corporate "boxes" and VIP sales. Last time they play these venues, I bought a Dallas pit ticket on Ebay for about twice the value and 8th row reserved thru Coldplay for Houston. I don't expect to ever see those prices again. If you don't want scalpers, be willing to settle for lawn is my best advise to you, because it's gonna sell out quick. For Radiohead I couldn't even get anything in the first level reserved as soon as the sale started. I expect the same here.

Dear Brenda,
Thank you for contacting Live Nation Customer Care with your inquiry!
You can just visit www.livenation.com and find the event you are looking for. There will be a Ticket Rush presale password box to enter the presale password.
Please respond to this e-mail if we can be of further assistance regarding this or any other inquiry.

I bought Dallas tickets yesterday, they're 202 TT which isn't bad by any means, but I was still hoping for lower level seats.
This is ridiculous. Back in November, for the Toyota Center, I didn't have to do anything special, no pre-sale, no passwords, just at 10 AM on the 28th of June I clicked "Buy Tickets" and I got great seats. Like, if I was at a Rockets game, I would have been half court, 4 rows up. So for the concert, it was awesome. And again, I just paid my 250, and I done.
I'm gonna be pretty upset if I can't get lower level seats for the Houston show. :(

^Go directly to the Live Nation page for "Buy tickets" for the concert (be here before 10am and refresh close or at 10am)
It'll say "Live Nation presale", and next to it, a box where you'll write the Ticket Rush code.
Then proceed as usual (type of tix, best available, blah, security code...)
Presale is on Friday @ 10 am
FYI...
Searching for a single ticket will show you better seats than searching for 2 or 3 or more.
For 2 or 3 seats together, best offer will be first rows of the sections right after the closest ones (for instance, Row D of Section 201)
Most of the orchestra sections (the closest ones) won't be available. They'll go to auctions or special VIP packages)

Ya'll might try reading through the Dallas thread to get an idea of what you'll be dealing with this weekend. In the presale and general sale, no tickets were offered in the first 3 sections. Even in the presale. I'm sure someone else can answer this better that me, but I'm guessing the first 3 sections can seat about 4K people and there were NONE available. They were all set aside for auctions/radio stations/other promotions. It SUCKED. I'm not a novice concert-goer, and I hadn't seen anything like it.
I really hope it's not the same for you guys, that some of you can get decent seats, but please be prepared that even in the presale, they might only be offering average seats. And, if you want to go to the concert, then at least get the average seats, b/c in the general sale in Dallas, pretty much lawn seats were left on general sale day.

Has anybody gotten their ticketrush weekly password yet? I thought the email came on Tuesdays, but maybe it's Wednesday this week...anyway, once I get it, I'll put it on here for everyone, seeing as we're all TRUE Coldplay fans competiting against what seems to be an army of scalpers.
And where did those ticket prices come from? I can't find them ANYWHERE on livenation, which is I thought was because they're waiting until 10 AM on Friday to shock us all with their outrageous numbers. Hmmm. I guess it's going to take a chunk out of my account, but it's still worth it!

And where did those ticket prices come from? I can't find them ANYWHERE on livenation, which is I thought was because they're waiting until 10 AM on Friday to shock us all with their outrageous numbers. Hmmm. I guess it's going to take a chunk out of my account, but it's still worth it!
OMG!! the pass word IS WEEKLY?!?!? I thought it was monthly.

I tried clicking on the ticketrush link at live nation's website but as im sure most of you have discovered that no longer works. I've signed up with live nation but I havent gotten any kind of an email with the password or seen anywhere I'm supposed to go to get it. I've sent live nation an email but the response was some basic trouble shooting things that did nothing.
IF YOU HAVE THE PRESALE PASSWORD WILL YOU PLEASE POST IT!

I have found that Ticketmaster (http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0C004252E8768FFC) is selling the tickets (in addition to LiveNation.)
I really hate this, why must this be so confusing? Are there really multiple presale passwords? I have a TicketRush presale password, but I am now not confident it's right. And I didn't know there was a radio one as well (as seen on LiveNation (http://www.livenation.com/edp/eventId/403922/))
And why are there tickets already out on sale at different ticketing agencies? And for outrageous ($700 for ROW AA, WTF?) Why can't it be just as easy as last time, where simple being ready and on time gives you what you deserve, not tickets 'behind those we saved to get more money for.'
Ugh. [/rant]
ETA: I think TicketRush is no longer working because the Pre-Sale for several of the other concerts is over, though I'm not sure why. Don't take this as Gospel.

Ticketmaster now has it listed on their site, so i think you can purchase from either one... I prefer ticketmaster since they have a better checkout process. Well, good luck everyone... I think I'm going to try the presale, but if there arn't very good tickets (a la Dallas), I'll wait for the general sale and try my luck I guess... If all else fails, there is always stubhub and ebay, etc. Just "Don't Panic" :D

It appears to me that ANY seat in the covered part of the arena is better than the lawn seats, especially in TEXAS DURING JULY ! Even though the concert starts at 7:30 pm, that is about sundown. I would look for 95 degree heat at concert start.

I'm with you on the Toyoto Center floor seats. We had approx 10 rows of seats behind us to the end, so we were about as far away as you can get on the floor- it suked even at my height. ANY seats in the stands would have been better, wont make that mistake again. :\

Well that WAS kind of crap! Ugh... I am taking a gamble and just trying again tomorrow... Compared with Toyota Center last year, the selection was awful. I got two seats for the November show in Sec. 105 row 6, right next to the stage - it was amazing! I'm not exactly expecting to be that lucky again, but I'd at least like to be in the lower section...
These presales can be hit and miss anyways, since they just have a pool of tickets and they aren't necessarily the best. I can't afford to buy a crap ticket then find out I could get a better one tomorrow! At least with the presale it gives you chances I guess...
I got the following offers, but decided to wait.. Some were fairly decent, so I hope I don't regret the decision:
Sec. 101, row X
Sec. 102, row DD and HH
Sec. 103, row X
I just hope I don't regret not taking the row X ones, since those were the closest I could get today...
The PIT is general admission for this show, so no seats... mmm.
I'm thinking I'll have some luck in the general sale. Since none of my (lame) friends what to go this year since it's in the middle of the week and at the Woodlands, I'm just looking for the one ticket I guess...

i waited for this album for threee years just like everyone else. day in and day out i was at coldplay.com and i lived the days from the beginning to the release of the album. i was so happy when they released the tour dates last year and i wanted to go to the houston concert in November. and when november came my friends went and i didn't cause i didnt have the money. and what hurt was that they are not hardcore coldplay fans!!
THAT HAS ALL CHANGED!!!!!
i worked my butt off at work to raise money for this concert(im 16 btw) . and i now have the tickets right in front of me( i also paid for my mom and dad because they are loving coldplay also). i cannot emphasize how much this means to me!
this is just unreal. in 5 months my life will change and i will be with the hardcore coldplay fans that ive been wanting to meet ever since i discovered coldplaying.com. i hope to see many of u there!!

^I'm not going to the Houston concert, but I understand how you feel.
I couldn;t go to their Tampa concert back in 2006 b/c I didn't have money. AND had to wait 2 loooong years to see then for the 1st time in Orlando. Took my brother (not fan, assigned driver) and my sister (fan). Totally worth the wait, and I had the luck of being in the section were they sang The Scientist. I didn't expect to see them that close, AMAZING!

By stalking, do you mean being early at the venue, make posters, have a piece of outfit that's Coldplay or "Viva la Vida" related, meeting other Coldplayers, or waving at the roadies while you hang out around the venue early in the day?

I have tickets for both concerts in Texas. The tickets I have for the Superpages.com center are 202 row FF. For CWMP I have 108 C

Check out the 3d seating chart. And then

That's for CWMP, they're both center, so they're good seats, but I'm a little closer in Dallas.

That is so cool, we need to find out where performers at the Cynthia Woods Pavilion exit, then just wait there. we should be looking all around the venue before the show(for the exit and COLDPLAY):D.

Oooh! Sounds like a wonderful plan! Since it's in the summer, I'm lucky enough to be off--I'll probably be hanging around the venue all day, should something indeed happen! Usually it's a school night or whatever at most concerts, and my friends/parents want to leave...yes, they are losers...but screw it all, this is Coldplay!!! I'm so freaking glad I got tickets from the presale, the public sale sounds like it was total crap! Sorry to all you guys who couldn't get tickets. And yeah, closer to the concert date, there are definitely some nice fans who won't be able to go and will take face value--this is how I got to go to my first concert, U2 at that, for about $100 a pop. Anyway, good luck! Only five months to go...

I guess it was better than the Dallas presale. We got tickets in sec 101 row Z seats 11-12. I think we might be seating next you SA_Spurs_TX. BTW we're also from San Antonio. Looks like we're going on a road trip....Dallas then Houston! :)
I'm thankful for the tix but they don't compare to the tix we had in November for the Toyota Center concert. I'm still psyched!
Looks like we got really lucky, I cant find many other ppl who got seats closer than 101 row Z. I did see 4 seats go for 900 dollars on section 101 row C..ridiculous.

WAHOO!! I got a ticket :)
Section 102, row EE on Ebay! And I only paid $20 over face value :D
Yay for being given a second chance to redeem myself for being stupid and not getting the Section 102, row DD seat I pulled up in the presale. So sacraficing one row closer and $20 doesn't seem bad at all.
I guess my friends ditching me and not being able to come helped me out since I've been looking for the one ticket, lol. It's actually harder than I thought it would be, since most of the post-general sale tickets for sale are all 2 or above, so I snagged this one. Now I'll just keep a look out for even better seats over the next few months, but If I'm stuck with this one, I'll be happy.
As far as meeting the band, it's more likely to happen at the Woodlands than the Toyota Center due to the layout. I met Tori Amos TWICE there when I went with friends who knew about these meet and greets she does before the show. I know the venue has changed a lot, but there is an area to the left of the venue where the buses pull in. So unless this has changed, it might happen if you get there early to mid-afternoon!! They had set up a gate thing, and everyone just kind of lined up there...

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm stoked. No, it was a regular auction - I wish it was buy it now , it would have been less tense, lol. I was sooooo surprised I got it at a regular price. I think it's because the auction ended in the morning when most people are at work, ha :)

Also, do you think this concert will be the same format as the November one? I just don't see how the layout would work at the Woodlands - especially the B and C Stages. I do hope they have those little stages though, and I hope I'm near one, ha!

I don't think they are...
I remember reading somewhere that Coldplay was thinking of ways to like revamp their tour through the States. I guess they don't want the people who saw them last year to see the exact same show. Though I certainly wouldn't mind.:D
Anyway, uh yeah... they picked all ampitheatres as the venues for this tour... So... hmm....

Ouch, yeah that's the second to last row of reserved... but at least you are in the center section, so it definately could be much worse. Hopefully you will get upgraded - I would just keep a look out for semi-suspicious characters who look like they are scoping people out, lol!

Hey Mike no ignorance at all!
An upgrade is when some lucky fans receive tickets to better seats. For example, people in the nosebleeds were given front row tickets at the group's last Houston stop. Usually they require the lucky receivers to sing their favorite Coldplay song or similar trivia.
A roadie is part of "the road crew (or roadies) are the technicians who travel with a band on tour, usually in sleeper buses, and handle every part of the concert " according to Wiki. They basically do everything and make sure everything goes smoothly.
And it's not July. Haha!

Maybe you should just hang out on the lawn until the show starts since you are so close, ha. I bet you only have to show your ticket to get into each reserved section, but the lawn you prob just show it at the gate and sit. I am betting it will be lawn seats that get upgraded though. Think about it, the PIT is general admission and the lawn is general admission... They aren't going to want all these empty seats in reserved from the people being upgraded. On the lawn, you can't tell they moved... mmm, in a way it makes me want to have a lawn seat just to have the opportunity of being upgraded!

I think she means the seats vacated by those who were upgraded were given to the Oxfam volunteers... since then there would be 92 empty seats. I was wondering if maybe they would only give upgrades to those on the lawn at the woodlands since there are no 'seats' per se. But it looks like that might not be the case :D

Yep, that's what I'm hoping to do: volunteer with Oxfam at the West Palm Beach concert :smug: (maybe I could travel to other places, but I don't know if there;s a volunteer limit :uhoh:)
Great! I hope so.
I'm from Venezuela, and I have already the ticket of the travel and for the concert. This gonna be a dream come true for me.
I'm Venezuelan too, but I live in Florida. I'm going to the two concerts here.
Any poster???
"PHIL IS HOT" :P (ok, that's just me)
So fellow coldplayers, any ideas on stalking? :p Be early at the venue.

bought my tickets for houston before i knew there would be a san antonio show. i would much rather see coldplay in san antonio since it is home and they have never been here. would love to go to both shows but then i would have no money for U2 tickets. unfortunately, i have to choose one. paid $258 for two tickets. will round it down to $250.

I think someone posted about it on the Houston 2008 concert thread
maybe a newspaper article about Gwyneth staying at the Four Seasons in Houston, and some people spotting her at a nearby store (mind you, it must have been a fancy one :smug:)
EDIT: and that's all I can recall. But I would stick to "showing up early at the venue" and "staying for a while afterwards"

We were fortunate enough to get tixs for the New Orleans Arena concert on June 9th. So, looks like I'll be doing that one along with the July concert at Cynthia Woods in Houston.:):)
sigh.................Life is tough sometimes, .....................Its great to be retired and do the things (like this) that I dreamed of during my working career and didnt have the time................Now, if only Coldplay could come up with another concert around November, THAT would be the bomb my friends..........:D:wink3:
Since I am retired and not much going on, what are the chances Coldplay would hire me to be a "roadie" ????????????
I would work for food/board albeit on a bus with midnight hours (seasoned to that with 35 years of shift work).
Hey, where do I apply? >.............................
ANY COLDPLAY STAFF FOLKS READING THIS ?????????????
I SAID I WOULD WORK FOR FREE............. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!;););)

AHHH! I just got upgraded 25 rows!!! I happened to check the Ticketmaster site since my friend said he might want to go, but I remembered last time I looked there were no tickets (not even lawn). Well, I just got Sec. 102 Row H!!!! :shocked2: I had Sec. 102 Row EE already... I can't believe it. You guys should check the site now to see what's available...
If my friend doesn't end up wanting to go, I will be selling my Sec. 102 Row EE Aisle seat for face value, so I'll let you guys know in case anyone on here wants to buy it!
SOOOO excited right now :D

woow nice find! I wish I would have checked the site soon after you posted this! I check right now for 2 tickets and I brought up sec 103 row Q! much better than my 101 row Z. I snatched those babies up and hopefully we all keep checking back so us fans can improve our seats like we did! I even checked for 1 ticket and I brought up 103 row F daang thats like only a couple rows back from the pit.

Yay! Glad you got an upgrade too! :D I saw that Sec. 103 Row F too, but it's the aisle seat on the extreme right edge. The Sec. 102 ticket was WAY better, even though it was two rows further back. It's not an aisle seat like my other one, but it's close (only three seats from the aisle), so I can deal with that
Only thing that annoys me is I wonder if they just held back the good seats? I mean nobody could pull these up in the presale and general sale. Then there were no tickets at all for a while. Then all of sudden these ones... It's so weird...

Well, I was going with my friends I went to the Houston show last year, but they can't go since it's mid-week and at the Woodlands, so I just got the one ticket for myself. Then one of the said they might want to go and could I see if I could get a ticket. That's when I found the new released tickets. So I bought the Sec. 102 Row H (since he knew we most likely wouldn't be able to sit together) and now I just need to find out for sure if he's still wanting to come now I have two separate tickets... LOL, confusing I know, but I wasn't going to miss the concert just because they couldn't go. I have no problem going by myself!

No. It's just one ticket. I first bought the Sec. 102 Row EE way back. Then, with the release of these tickets, I got the Sec. 102 Row H. So, if my friend doesn't come, and I end up going by myself (like I orginally was doing since no one else could come) then I'll be selling my original ticket - the Sec. 102 Row EE. Sorry for the confusion!

Bump. I second that question--how in the hell do you get pit tickets, anyway? I always thought it was impossible...but apparently people on here have gotten them...the best I could do for this show was front row of section 110. Ah, well.
mrman78
31-05-2009, 08:37 PM
Just got an email from Ticketmaster saying the show has been moved up to 7pm...
PIT tickets have varied by show. For example, Dallas didn't even have a PIT initially, and now you can get tickets in the PIT four months after the pre-sale. I think the Houston show either haven't released the PIT tickets or they have already been sold/given to radio, etc. As of right now, you can't even get a ticket on ticketmaster, not even lawan. It's techically 'sold out' but of course you can still get the scalper tickets...

Could have had Pit for both Dallas and Houston, but went with reserved close for these reasons.
1. seeing 3 shows that week and need to pace myself
2. driving to Dallas day of, then back to Houston, so lining up super early not possible
3. July in Texas, no shade at these venues, no bathroom facilities, going to show alone, no one to watch my spot if I need to leave the line
4. Pit in Alpine that same week with Coldplayers
