This is awesome as while the HP Pavilion center wasn't as bad...Shoreline beats all, always the best sound and energy at this venue, plus it's outdoors. Garlic fries anyone?, just glad to see it made it on the tour list. :)
Although I wonder how the stage setting would work here, never seen extended staging at this venue. Maybe they plan to switch it up.

I'm so excited I could go on my roof and scream. Now I have lots of time to befriend someone who can hook me up with meet and greet passes! I. Have. To. Meet. Coldplay.
Where did you see prices? I didn't find anything on Ticketmaster's website yet. I found the Livenation link for it.
Please post presale codes!
Would love to get meet and greet passes. Can you buy them?
I live in Mountain View, Shoreline is 5 minutes away!

This show is just about 10-15 minutes from my college. Unfortunately...the show is July 13, so I'll well be back home then. :( Looks like I'll be hitting up an East Coast show!

Wooo hooo! If I had the money I'd follow all 3 California dates but I do not unfortunately. Looks like I'll only make it to the San Diego and Carson show...San Fran is wayyyy tooo far from me, around 6 hrs. I would totally do it if I had relatives up there, but I don't so that means hotel expenses, which I don't have :(
Caroline
07-02-2009, 08:08 PM
Everyone going to San Fran show we should make a plan in the coming months to meet up hours before the show and try and meet Coldplay. We can make a huge Coldplayer banner...I have seen pics on here and that seems to work!

I have the presale code folks! I must warn you the presale tickets are not that great and better tickets will be on general sale. The best tickets I am afraid are going on auctions.
The top price tickets are $101 plus fee's-so about $120 or so in total. The lawn tickets are something like $30 total.

Wow... Well my and the fam are going to try for tickets, I think we might just wait for the general sale day, as I've heard pre-sale is a big disappointment. I think I'm going to try my luck standing in line. We live in a small area, and frankly trying to buy online tickets last summer got me stuck in the nosebleed section, and I have high speed and all that. If I'm first or second in line, do you think I'll have a chance at a 1/2 way decent ticket or a ticket at all??

It makes no difference! There is no magic way to get tickets (I used to audit ticketmaster and its systems). If you go to a ticketmaster retail outlet, you rely on the agent getting on the booking system at the right moment-essentially these outlet places are doing the same thing as you would do at home.
If you go to the venue box office it depends on the venue-they all have different line systems. Some use lotteries ie. they give 50 tickets out to the first 50 people in line and you essentially draw a lot. This does not even mean you will get a ticket! Typically, they will hold a small allotment of around 100 tickets and every person gets to pick what they want. The tickets here are no better than anywhere else.
Sadly, most of the best tickets have already been allocated to the band, promoters, sponsors etc...sadly coldplay are using ticketmaster auctions for the best seats. So it will be really hard to get anything within the 1st ten rows.

I haven't found it either on the ticketmaster site but it's definitely on the livenation site, which is the same link that coldplay.com directs you to. LiveNation link (http://www.livenation.com/edp/eventId/403918/)
In my past experiences with Livenation, sometimes it redirects me to the ticketmaster site for some concerts. Who knows, maybe they could add it at the last minute but the safe bet would be to try Livenation first since it's already listed.

They should have let ticketmaster handle it imo. Or anticipated the high demand for their tickets and upgraded their bandwidth accordingly.
If they can't handle a pre-sale I can't imagine how bad the general sale will be.

Well, looks like they screwed up. We just got in after ten minutes of the promotion code not working randomly, and all the tickets are gone. My theory is that it was something like what had happened with the Bruce Springsteen tickets for that NJ show, but instead of redirecting us, it just blocked us out.

yeah, it kept giving me seats in 201 so I didn't buy them. If I'm paying 97.00 (or $124 after the stupid charges) I expect them to be better than what I would think the $75 tickets would be. I'll just be trying again in the general sale. Hopefully with better results...

Hmm so I guess they won't be having walkways on both sides of the stage as they had for the first half of the NA tour. Don't see how they can manage to fit that into the venue.
As for the small stage? Are you referring to when the boys head into the crowd and sing acoustic songs? Guessing that'll happen somewhere along section 203 or 204.
The last time Coldplay played at this venue, Gwyneth Paltrow was in the sound area (in a hoodie)...so keep your eyes peeled :)

lol I'd do the same.
It's funny huh, I've been spoiled with seats in the front 100's. I ended up buying a single tix in row 202, Row D, since it came up 5 times, lol. I'm still going to try for closer seats 2morrow, since I can always sell this tix @ face value. If not I'm still satisfied as the middle section is easy on the neck & eyes in the 200's.
I'm also wondering if they plan on having the same stage setup since in all my times at Shoreline, I haven't seen any artists have a second stage or extend the main stage, it would be hard with the venue, everything's stationary in a good way. Altough I'm hope I wrong on that front.
If anyone wants to see the 3D view of their seat(s), here's the link to the venue website: 3D Seating Chart (http://www.livenation.com/venue/shoreline-amphitheatre-at-mountain-view-tickets#)

I had a couple of chances at seats in the 100 section but they were row Q, P, S...they didn't appeal to me since i might as well be in the front rows of the 200 section, easier to see the show. Its reverse psychology in a way for me. :D
The highest price goes for the 100 and 200 sections, my single ticket came out to $125 with fees and all.

The only seats that show are Lawn seats... this is a bit unnerving. How could all the other seats be sold out before they even went on sale? They couldn't have completely sold out during the presale, right?
soulsalsa7
14-02-2009, 05:54 PM
It still looks like tickets for this show will be thru LiveNation only as I see don't see anything on TicketMaster, and the TicketRush website still redirects to the LiveNation site. You can still always leave a window open for TM just in case.
I went to the lnk above^^ and noticed only the lawn seats but it also doesn't give you the option to buy anything so I think it's leftovers from the presale, they didn't release everything. If you go to the actual Shoreline Coldplay page, you should see the big yellow button saying "Buy Tickets" when it hits 10am as I tested out on other shows that went on general sale earlier today.
I also noticed that besides the normal 'Search by Best Available' feature, they have a 'Click and Pick™ Seating Map' which allows you to see a virtual seating map of all the available seats in the venue and the abiliity to hand pick each one. It does run a bit slow, so the other option might pop up faster with the best available seat. You should try it out on the Mansfield show if you have time real quick to see what I'm talking about. They might have this feature for our show.

I would do that if you can, on this site, bestinthehousetickets.com (http://www.bestinthehousetickets.com/ResultsTicket.aspx?evtid=1009226&event=Coldplay), they have decent prices for their 200 section, at least you will be guaranteed seats. In no way am I advertising scaplers (well in a lil way) but if it helps people like you guys, it's a good site to head to. I have bought tixs from them before. One time I purchased a pair for the Bridge Benefit Show @ Shoreline, but I put the tickets under my friend's name, ended up going with someone else, so the ticketbooth people wouldn't let me in, so I called their number they left me, they answered right away and solved it in a jiffy. So there's customer service on top of that.
On another related note, I looked on Craigslist to see the prices for tixs, and came across this 2001 Filmore poster, anyone who's been and likes the poster might find it of interest. I would get it but the picture slightly scares me, Chucky, anyone?

Livenation and TM do not hold tickets back-it is the band/managment/venue that dictates this policy. TM and LN are contractually not allowed to withold tickets.
Like I say, expect some premium seats packages to come your way in the next week-something which is BS anyway, given a real fan will already have tickets, now they will have to decide to upgrade or stick with what they have.

I have seen the click and pick and they are saying every single seat in the 100's is sold out! Usually you find odd seats lurking around but strangely none in the 100's.
I think that is all livenation have until a premium seats sale/auction is announced. I find it impossible that there are no seats in the 100's. Livenation was not that busy-usually when there is a rush it takes several minutes to get seats. I think there were very few seats in the 100's and they have been reserved for the choosen ones.

it is strange. as of now, there are still seats in the 7th row & beyond for single ticket dwellers, the closest rows are in sec 202 & 204. The system must have delayed in its setup, releasing the 200's and the other seating map later.
The great thing about Shoreline, is that there's a great view in the 100s and 200s and the lawn too. I wouldn't recommend the lawn for people who have to take a break for whatever needs you have (food, restroom, etc.) since it's first-come-first serve, you better hope that someone's watching your spot. Me, I like my reserved space, even what little it is. Hope people get some decent seats. :)

Stupid websites mess with the ticketing system and get the best seats and then and try to sell them for $500 each. I have 5 months so I guess I can find some good tickets, but this is really ridiculous. I'm starting to think I may just pay A LOT for a ticket that is like 7th row and just go alone. If this is the case then it is terrible. All the folks who have tickets now have to decide whether to try get better tickets. Plus a lot of you may have already bought from scalpers.
The chances are if you buy the better tickets you then have to sell the other tickets-which means losing money on Lawn Seats (the lawn seats are mostly still available). So potentially some folks will get stuck with tickets they can't sell.

With a few exceptions I saw seats in the last fews rows of the 100 section, they were priced around 500 each. But it still looks like broker sites did not even get good seats.
One thing that slipped my mind, if Oxfam tours with Coldplay again it would be great for those who weren't able to get tickets. You'd be volunteering for a great cause and would get a free ticket to the concert. Of course seating varies, but it has got to be better than lawn seats, and even if it's lawn seats, it would still be free.
I plan to volunteer this time around, have been wanting to for years. I've done similar outreach programs at other concerts, and it's always been a blast.

Coldplay and their army of music are coming to the Bay Area.
After surfacing in 2000 with the breakthrough single "Yellow," Coldplay quickly became one of the biggest bands of the new millennium, honing a mix of introspective Brit-pop and anthemic rock that landed the British quartet a near-permanent residence on record charts world-wide.
The band will bring their Viva La Vida Tour, which kicked off in Australia on Monday, to the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View on July 13 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale.
The group's emergence was perfectly timed; Radiohead had just released the overly cerebral "Kid A," while Oasis had ditched two founding members and embraced psychedelic experimentation on "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants." U.K. audiences were hungry for a fresh-faced rock band with big aspirations and an even bigger sound, and Coldplay was more than happy to take the reigns.
"Parachutes" went multi-platinum in several countries and earned the band their first Grammy, but Coldplay continued to grow into the 2000s, topping their debut album's success with higher record sales and an increased public profile.
Chris Martin (vocals/piano), Jon Buckland (guitar), Will Champion (drums), and Guy Berryman (bass) were all born into families in which music was encouraged. Martin, the eldest of five, began playing the piano as a young child and later took solace in the work of Tom Waits. Buckland, on the other hand, grew up with the heavy guitar sounds of Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.
Scotland native Berryman preferred funk to indie rock, thereby leaving him to play bass, while multi-instrumentalist Champion didn't plan to be a drummer until he joined Coldplay's lineup. The bandmates came together in 1996 while attending the University College of London, and the Safety EP was issued shortly after their first gig at a Manchester festival for unsigned bands. The release only saw 500 pressings, as did the subsequent Brothers & Sisters EP. Nevertheless, it was enough to win the band a U.K. deal with Parlophone in April 1999, and the five-track Blue Room EP arrived that fall. With nods from the media, the foursome was hailed as the next Travis, thanks to their simplistic acoustics and charming personas.
Parlophone ushered the band into Parr St. Studios in Liverpool, where they recorded the bulk of their debut album.
"Parachutes" was released in July 2000 and became a swift hit on the strength of four U.K. singles, several of which enjoyed popularity in America as well. With "Yellow" climbing the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, Parachutes was released in the U.S. in November, where its sales soon rivaled -- and eventually surpassed -- those in the U.K.
Riding on the strength of their universally popular debut, Coldplay headed back into the studio in fall 2001 to work on a sophomore album. They emerged with "A Rush of Blood to the Head," releasing the album worldwide in August 2002 and embarking on a global concert tour soon after. "The Scientist" enjoyed regular radio rotation, while both "Clocks" and "In My Place" won Grammy Awards.
The CD/DVD package Live 2003 was issued to highlight the group's popular tour, and Martin specifically earned a higher notch on the celebrity scale by marrying actress Gwyneth Paltrow in December 2003. Paltrow gave birth to the couple's first daughter, Apple Blythe Alison Martin, the following April.
Fatherhood didn't stop Martin from working, as Coldplay began recording material for a third album within weeks. Previously recorded material with longtime producer Ken Nelson was scrapped early on, while Danton Supple (Morrissey, the Cure) joined Coldplay to complete the recording of "X&Y." "Speed of Sound" marked Coldplay's first single from their long-awaited third effort in spring 2005; the album followed in June, topping charts around the world and selling more than eight million copies during its first year. Such success put Coldplay on the same commercial level as U2, and Coldplay retreated to the studio in late 2006 to work with famed producer Brian Eno (who had teamed up with U2 two decades prior for The Joshua Tree).
Recording sessions with Eno were completed within one year, followed by several months of mixing and growing anticipation from the band's audience. Viva La Vida -- also known by its extended name, "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" -- ultimately arrived in June 2008.

I've been delaying buying lawn tickets, even though that's probably what I'll have to end up doing, because it seems that the closer we're getting to the concert the less the good tickets are going for (at least on Craigslist). So far there haven't been any drastic differences in price... but people who have been trying to sell them for high prices are realizing that no one will buy them, and the prices are gradually going down. I don't want to cut it too close and not be able to get any tickets at all, but I'm still gonna wait a little longer and try and get some seats in the 200's for a cheap(ish) price!

Ive been to the Shoreline before.I like it because the seats are elevated and you dont really have to worry too much about someone being infront of you.Unless you are really short or they are really tall.Un like in the arenas floor where you are just at one level on the floor and can be hard to see sometimes.

Wooo, cool! About how big is it? I've heard different things; one person said it's small enough that you have an excellent view from the lawn, and someone else said that it's a huge amphitheater, and it's often hard to see the stage unless you're really close.

I've been there twice. The first time I was in the lawn, but closer to seats than the limits of the lawn. The view was alright, all things considered, but still not great. The sound was the annoying thing. A lot of it seems to get lost in the outdoor setting.
The second time was actually for my first coldplay show. This time I was in the 200 section of seats. The view was pretty decent, especially as we were at an angle, and then Chris took a jog up to our area :D. The sound was still just so so but its a nice venue, in that its location means it never gets too awful hot or anything.

Oh fuck I really really want those, but I already bought tickets in Section 101 row O. Do you think it's worth it to sell those tickets and try and buy Section 103 row D instead? The seats are a lot better, but either way I'll be in section 100. I don't know if it's worth the effort of selling these tickets, getting the money back, and buying new ones
Plus I don't think I have time :bigcry:

Oh and I heard from someone that if you have section 100 tickets, you can pretty much go anywhere in section 100. Has anyone experienced this? How is the security at shoreline? At some concerts I've found if you try moving towards the stage during the show you'll get caught, but at others the security doesn't seem to notice/care. Has anyone tried that at Shoreline?
soulsalsa7
25-04-2009, 03:02 AM
Shoreline is pretty strict about moving closer and with cameras too as I experienced everytime I went. I think they just want to have control over the crowd so nothing gets out of hand. If you're walking down the aisle, you will be seen. I went for closer seats as my vision is lacking so at least I will see more than blurs on the stage.
As for reselling tickets, it's pretty easy, you can either meet the person at an starbucks, etc or do it through paypal and ship. It just depends if being closer to the stage is a priority for you or not. It looks like the good seats are still available and I last checked at 7:05 pm

NICE!
I got section 101 row 13, but its near the aisle (meaning the center)!!
SO HAPPY!!!
I would've gotten pit tickets at the Sleep Train but it's too far away (when compared to how close Shoreline is) and I'm way too short to properly enjoy it. :laugh3:
I'm still stuck with these Sleep Train tickets though.
My tix are for Section 203 , Row L , Seat # 1 , and Section 201 , Row P , Seat # 39, both appear to be aisle seats, just off the center section, so I'm hoping they'll be good seats.
I thought about going to the show the next day at Sleeptrain, but would like to find one or more to share the ride with. When I checked a couple of weeks ago, there were still decent seats available, but don't know about now. I don't know how so many people got 100 section seats. Every time I checked, they were sold out, and I checked for weeks.

Yeah, I see that there are still a few 100s seats available. I need to start reading this forum since apparently they started releasing them in early April. There are still a few 100s seats available, but over to the sides and back. That explains why I saw a someone selling her 200s seats on Craigslist at face value.

I'm a short guy, so the pit would not work for me either. For Sleeptrain in Marysville, the "Floor" tickets are shown as General Admission, and there is a very large number, about half of the total still available.
It is really strange that they waited this long to sell them. My guess is that they wanted to increase the sales of the less desireable seats first. Also, I'm sure that they give the band and sponsors first grab at the front seats. As far as I know, Coldplay's fan club is given no special priviledges, but I'm sure some seats are reserved for some of their favorites, like Oxfam volunteers.

I don't know the answer to your question, but you could look on Google Mapquest driving directions.
I did not want to drive because it will probably be very crowded, at least after the show. Several thousand cars will be leaving at once. I'm thinking of taking public transit there.
I read that there is bus service to the Shoreline Amphitheatre from the Fremont Bart Station. If I go early enough, it should be fine. Later, it will probably be packed on the day of the concert.
There must also be some way to go by CalTrain, probably to Mtn. View and then should be a bus from there to Shoreline. I have friends going who can probably drop me off on the way back at a Bart station. For Marysville, I'd plan on driving and might spend the night somewhere up there.

Maybe someone can tell us how late the concerts usually go. I heard that Coldplay actually starts to sing (at least for their recent shows in Australia) at about 9 PM, after one or more opening acts.
The other thing to remember is that the last Bart Train leaves Millbrae, I think at midnight. To get to Berkeley, probably have to transfer to the Richmond line at that late hour. You say that CalTrain runs until 11, but I would guess the concert might go until 10:30-11:00.
Would a veteran Coldplay concert fan please advise how late the show is expected to go?

Also, you might check Craigslist. Copying Soulsalsa7's note on the Tickets for Sale or Trade thread at http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56439:
"I would definitely check Craigslist San Francisco before Ebay as there have been some good prices for pairs in the lower sections and upper sections. They keep popping up each week. And there's always the day of the concert, people who can't make it but have some awesome seats to spare. Good Luck!

I went to the San Jose show last July, and Coldplay started playing at about 9:15. The concert ended at just after 11, if I remember correctly. Plus there's about a 20 minute bus ride from Shoreline to the CalTrain station... so I don't think that would work. By the time one reached the station it would be almost midnight, and then there will be traffic, too...

How could I ever express how much their music has meant to me, how their music brings a tear to my eye? The words would fail to express it. Just like, I would be excited if they played their acoustic set near me but it would also be frustrating because I still could not communicate to them, how deeply their music has moved me. I feel as if I would die if I met them.

No, the Coldplay.com site doesn't show any concert for 7/23/09. It is also unlikely that Coldplay would be in Mountain View on 7/23/09, since their site shows concerts on 22/07/09: Houston, TX - USA, and 24/07/09: Maryland Heights, MO - USA, unless they decide to change or cancel one or both of those shows.... also, I wonder if they might cancel the Wheatland/Marysville concert on 7/14 if it doesn't sell out. I saw that last year, Colplay canceled both the Oakland and Sacramento (that was in the city, not in Wheatland) shows. The only Bay Area show was at the San Jose HP Pavilion. From the clips I've seen of that show, it did not look like as good of a venue as the Amphitheatre. The acoustics and lighting weren't as good. The Wheatland show still has a lot of unsold seats. I just tried to pick my seats and it said that option wasn't available.

Coldplay is back on the road this summer on the final leg of its huge "Viva La Vida" tour. Just days before the group landed in America last month, singer Chris Martin gave us a call to talk confetti butterflies, stage fright and the totally bonkers idea to give everyone who attends the shows a free copy of a new live album, "LeftRightLeftRightLeft."
This article appeared on page R - 14 of the San Francisco Chronicle
Q: You've been on the road quite a lot this year. Are you just trying to avoid the family?
A: I'm glad you started with an easy question. From the very beginning of my life, people have always enjoyed it when I was around for a couple of days at a time. So, I think, most people in touring bands are best in small doses. That's why we turn up in a town, play and then we leave before anyone can get sick of us.
Q: Shouldn't you have a bit of an ego at this point?
A: I have an ego. But it's being worked on today. I don't have it. It's in the shop.
Q: It's important to get it back before you get here and have to face 10,000 people.
A: Yes, you're right. I need to speed them up. I think when you're as talented as me or you, you don't need to have an ego. On a serious note, the people I most admire in the world in my field have never shown that much ego to me. So it makes me think, if Bruce Springsteen isn't acting like an a-, I shouldn't either. If someone can be that successful and still be as nice to the guy who gives him his dry cleaning, then anyone in Coldplay should be extra nice.
Q: How many confetti butterflies have you gone through on this tour?
A: Well, I've got to say it's up in the millions. It's a tough dilemma. We're not unaware that it's a little untidy, but we also think it looks incredible. I don't know. You can call me out on that if you like.
Q: Are they biodegradable?
A: Some of them definitely are, but then there are some nights where they're less so, which has not been a problem indoors.
Q: There are different varieties of confetti butterflies?
A: The world of confetti butterflies is a labyrinth. You could spend months learning about that stuff.
Q: Have you stopped wearing those ridiculous handmade Sgt. Pepper's outfits?
A: We have some new ones coming through. But back to the butterflies, we're just about to give this live album away to people who bought tickets and the cover of it is all to do with those butterflies.
Q: Right. Everyone who comes to the show gets a free live album. That's very generous of you.
A: On a purely business level, we're very blessed to be able to afford to do it. The reason we're able to give a record away for this tour is a lot of people have paid for tickets, so it's just a way of saying thank you. It's generous, but we wouldn't be able to do it unless we sold a lot of tickets.
Q: Do you still get stage fright?
A: Sometimes I get it within a concert if a particular person's expression catches me. For example, if I see a guy with his arms folded looking a bit bored, then I get nervous. Only for an instant and then it comes right back. The problem is it's often my dad.
Q: You need to start giving him the bleacher seats.
A: Right. Send him to the back.

I need to start making a sign! :surprised: (I really want my seats to be upgraded, so I'm going to try to actually look like the very big fan that I am).
Does anyone have any ideas? :uhoh:

I want to be the one sitting upon my friend's shoulders, and waving my arms back and forth to the music. Now that's hardcore fan activity! An example of what I'm talking about in this video, the guy in the red and white striped shirt at 2:59:

^What if we all made signs saying something like "Play Bigger Stronger!"? Maybe there'd be enough of them that the band would be surprised and play it :surprised:

What's so great about that song? I thought the video for it was rather lame. I believe it was Coldplay's first video. Here it is, with the band's commentary.

Oh, I see now. This is a good song as it features Chris' voice. It has a classic rock sound, different from Coldplay's later music, which has more of an "alternative" sound.

... and doesn't it sound similar to "Such a Rush?" This song gave me goose bumps: "Everybody's out there, trying to get money..."

Hi all-
I am an east coaster who just booked a flight to visit friends and go to the Shoreline show! I need 3 lawn seats. I am looking on craigslist but if anyone has any extras that they want to sell to a coldplay fan I would love the help. Hopefully I can meet some other colplayers while I am there!

Hi there! I know my dad upgraded and had some extra lawn seats he wanted to get rid of. I'm not sure if he already has or not, but if you'd like I could get in touch with him and see if he still has them available to sell. If so maybe we could set something up.
