I had this idea and didn't opened a thread yet. (and i wonder why nobody else has opened it  )
I've checked some free bands that there are on last.fm, ones are better than others, the good thing is that there is a wide range of styles so everyone can choose the ones they like most.
so far i've downloaded different tracks of more than 100 bands (ones offer complete albums, others just a couple tracks :uhoh:)
so if any other coldplayer does the same, why not talk about those bands and let us know new musicians. ;)
--
If more coldplayers will introduce us to other artist i'll update this first post listing and linking the bands we'll be discovering.

Usually when I use last.fm I use it just to listen to the chillout and trip hop stations while I read/study at school. For discovering bands I'm more fond of hypem.com right now.

ReignDear (http://www.last.fm/music/reigndear)
The band hails from South Africa. One album available on last.fm for download: Good Old Fashioned Birth (http://www.last.fm/music/reigndear/good+old+fashioned+birth)
The band's style is very interesting. Bordering on ambient/easy listening/folk. Somehow, Kent Dylan's vocals remind me a bit of Band of Horses.
What I like about this band is that you could actually get hold of a copy of their CD by mail. They'll ship it to you free of charge! I got in contact with Kent and he's a nice enough guy. I hope this band will reach more listeners in the near future.
