Where Were You When You First Heard "Violet Hill"?

I remember sitting at my computer at 7:15a.m. waiting for the link on Coldplay.com to go up, but the website was too busy, so i had to miss my bus! I eventually got to the website and i entered my e-mail address, but that didnt work! I tried this at least 6 or 7 times, convinced I didn't enter my e-mail address in correctly or something. So i eventually had to go to school, but on the car ride there, the D.J. on the radio station said, "Alright everybody, there's a new Coldplay song floating about and we have it right here for you on D.C. 101 and I freaked out! It was incredible.

I had a final early that morning, the whole time I couldn't stop thinking about downloading the song and wondering what it sounded like. As soon as I finished I brought out my laptop (which I had with me specifically for this occasion) and downloaded it. I remember thinking how different it sounded not being sure if I liked it or not, but I couldn't stop listening to it. Played it about 10 times before heading to my next class, and after all those listens I decided that I loved it.

i wasn't in love on first listen...i remember listening to the intro and chris's first line thinking "ok, sounds classic coldplay" and then hearing jonny's first loud slam on the guitar and my face went :stunned:. since then it's MAJORLY grown on me, but it's still one of my least favorites on the album.

well, i was sitting in my room's chair, just as i'm doing now, and i saw the song in a local radio playlist. it was strange, because they rarely play foreign music here. so i gave it a listen and i fell in love with the sound. later, i gave a listen to viva la vida or death and all his friends, some days later i tried with parachutes, then AROBTTH and finally X&Y, and i just became an inconditional fan. (why did it have to happen after the barcelona show? :cry:

I was temporarily out of the Coldplay loop for a bit, as it was before I became...how you say..."hardcore" by reading the official site and fansites constantly and whatnot. I was a "casual" fan and just knew they were coming out with a new album. So I fell in love with Viva (the song) upon a first listen, then looked online only to discover that they had released another new song not too long ago! So yeah. I heard Viva La Vida before I heard Violet Hill. But it was that late discovery that prompted me to become more "in-tune" with the online Coldplay world.

I was at work and we got advanced copies of Viva La Vida to listen to the in the store. I listened to the whole album together, so I heard it right there as track 8 on the album. I had only very recently discovered Coldplay, so Viva La Vida was the first of their albums that I listened to, and I was in love with it from the very first listen. The album became my soundtrack... I played it over and over and over and over, until my coworkers made me stop lol. And then my best friend heard about it and she's a Coldplay fan, so she gave me X&Y. The rest is history :D

Me and a couple of mates (who I had manged to convince that this single would be amazing) were huddled round a table in an empty classroom at school. We were listening to the first ever play of it on Radio 1 via the radio on my phone. I remember when I heard those chords on the piano and Chris singing "It was a long and dark December", at that moment I knew Coldplay were back and better than ever! It was an amazing moment.
Also, that day a mate of mine who is also a big Coldplay fan passed his driving test and we drove around all evening listening to violet hill.

Well, the first time I ever heard Violet Hill, I was in the kitchen cooking, just after I'd put VLV in to listen to for the first time. It was immediately a fav. But the first time I ever heard it on my iPod was when I was walking through the woods, one snowy day in February. I can remember our heater going out that harsh Winter and singing out loudly to the lyrics of the song "...while we froze, down below" 'cause I could rather relate. LOL. But now it's years later, and the song continues to just somehow get better and better each and every time I hear it. :D
