You can already buy the tickets for the Germany concerts, but they are really expensive and the shipping costs are also really high. Too bad, I don't think I'll go to either one of those. I just hope they'll come to Belgium.
I just scared my cats to death cause I had to scream so loud  :laugh3:
I WILL DEFINITELY GO TO THAT GIG!!
And what the fuck, a few days ago I made a wish for a gig in Denmark!! I will go there too.
Oh god, I know I don't have the money for it. But, who cares.
I will use the weekend ticket and sleep at the train station.... that will do
Really guys, use that fucking ticket, it's cheap.
And for Denmark Dauer Spezial.
Hahaha, I'm so giggling at the moment, don't know if I shake cos it's so cold or because I'm so ecxcited right now!!
Now I will be quiet *lol*

G o A, I can totally understand you. ;) I feel totally the same. :laugh3:
When I read those wonderful news yesterday, I at first screamed like mad and couldn't stop jumping up and down... :D Then I got the text message today during break at school and when I read that one could already reserve the tickets, I squeaked and ran outside of the building to call my mum so she could order my ticket... I guess my friends thought I'd gone mad. :laugh3:
Well, to cut a long story short: Yes, I'm definitely going to be there as well!

Bought my ticket a bit late and paid 100€, but YAY!

When will be the entrance? Does anybody know this? The ticket says only: beginning at 7 p.m. But there is no advice of the entrance time.
EDIT: I've found on this page (http://www.rock-spot.de/konzerte/coldplay-the-viva-la-vida-open-air-tour-2009/muenchen/29-08-2009/) the entrance will be at 6 p.m. Only 1 hour before the beginning of the show (and 2 hours before Coldplay are beginning)? Could that be?

I reckon about 4ish/5ish :\
Gates are supposed to be open from 4.30 pm in Hannover so I assume it will be a similar time in Munich.
Plus they will never be able handling all the ticket control/searching within one hour only ;)

Hi there,
does anybody know how the parking situation is at the venue e.g. are there car parks near by and how quickly will it clear off after the gig?
P.
There is a parking area at the stadium. Look at this page. http://www.olympiareitanlage.de/. Here is a plan of the area: http://www.olympiareitanlage.de/Anfahrt.jpg.
It's said under "Gelände und Anlage" that there are 450 parking spaces. There is also a Park and Ride at the rapid transit railway "Riem". I don't know the situation after the gig because I wasn't there before and I'm afoot (which is much better for such events).
Maybe you can park near the stadium in some side street and walk there by foot?
LittleMissMessy
24-08-2009, 11:22 AM
I reckon' that it won't be a problem getting a parking space during early hours (around morning/noon) but that it will be a bit of a problem if you arrive in the afternoon.

I've been to the stadium last year when Linkin Park were playing.
There were no problems before the show, we got a parking place, and there was a bus shuttle to the stadium. The problems came after the show. About 25.000 fans wanted to get back to their car. And there was only one way to get there, and there we had to pass a railway crossing. Would have been no problem, if there wasn't a gate, which went down every ten minutes. :dozey: It took us about one and an half hour, to get back to our car after the show.
But I don't mind - I want to see Coldplay :D

Which bus terminal do you mean, the one in Fröttmaning? Or do you have to get to the main station? And you need to be there at 24:00?
The concert will be over at around 23:00 I guess... well I don't really know where you have to go, all I can tell you is that public transport (city trains, buses, underground) will operate from Riem till after 2am...

Fans' comments to the concert in Düsseldorf on 27 August 2009:
Bianca and Dennis from Essen are huge fans of the band around leadsinger Chris Martin. The show in Düsseldorf is not their first Coldplay concert. Both of them say enthusiastically: "We are getting goose-bumps all over when hearing Coldplay - there is nothing better than Coldplay."
The Müllers from Duisburg have given their daughter Paula a huge gift consisting of her very first rock concert. The ten-year-old daughter is enthusiastic: "It was super. It was colourful, it was loud, there were so many people there." Even the father is enthusiastic: "The atmosphere there is simply amazing."
"The atmosphere, the stage show, simply everything", Kristina shouts with joy when asked what in connection with the British gig has pleased her most. And it is even better that this evening was a birthday present from her friend Dennis.
Ute from Duisburg and Peter from Viersen are quite euphoric after their second Coldplay concert - but in addition to this total euphoria of the great night they also managed to go home with a stageshow prop. "The atmosphere was super, and so was the Arena." We don't know whether the other passengers in the trams / streetcars also found the prop they brought along super.
"The fact that the band played some songs in the middle of the audience totally fills me with enthusiasm", so Isabell from Volmerswerth, who went to the rock concert with her mother.
Christa and Lars come from Düsseldorf and were curious about the highly praised Coldplay. "We too found the concert good, each song was very special, but to us however, Coldplay should only entertain at a festival and not be the main act with a show to fill the evening."
Michael and Marianna from Düsseldorf are particularly enchanted by frontman Chris Martin. "His power in the songs are super. He has given all."
Mariette (l.) and Chantalle have travelled from Luxemburg with the purpose of seeing their heroes "live". "Absolutely super" is her short answer which prepares for a journey home in high spirits.
The stage show has above all really impressed Nicole and Nedal from Düsseldorf . "The fireworks and the fact that the band played on several stages during one show, were quite big." And the fact that the four Coldplay members paid tribute to "Billie Jean", the late King of Pop, is for both of them the highlight of the evening.
"Simply super show", says Michael from Düsseldorf who does not keep his opinion for oneself. "The interaction with the audience, the stages set up in the middle of the fans, that was so strong."
Sophie, Marcel, Christopher, Birgit and Fabian from Mühlheim near Ruhr have been going to their first Coldplay concert and share the opinion that the concert was "super cool". Highlight of the evening was the performance of the hit "Viva la Vida".
Natalie und Daniel have come from Bad Homburg in Hessen to Düsseldorf to celebrate Coldplay for the second time. They were not disappointed the first time, nor were they disappointed the second time. "It was impressive", Daniel said, "in spite of the huge stadiums the atmosphere and the acoustics were super."
Now it is Saturday, 29 August 2009 in Denmark / Germany - and I understand that it is Phil Harvey's birthday! In that connection I WISH PHIL HARVEY a HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I know that it is only 23.10 in England right now. :)

We are now standing first in line at 3 turnstalls next to each other. Still approx. 2 1/2 hours until gates open.

We're inside the stadium. First row Guy side! Squeee! Running inside was a nightmare as we had to run a whole round around the stadium.

The kilians are currently on. They started around an hour earlier than in Hannover. Hopefully will be on earlier as well.

Howling bells are now on. Not really my cup of tea. Kilians were by far better. Looks like CP will be on around 8 pm already.

I thought that...maybe there's an unusually early curfew in place for this particular venue?
I feel like I'm the only one who liked The Howling Bells :uhoh:
And that's odd about the show staring that early, I'd imagine stadiums wouldn't have such an early curfew  but then again, how would I know? we don't have curfews over here, the show lasts what it lasts and the neighbors gotta suck it up :P

Haha yes and given there are 3 support acts I highly doubt it :P
littlemissmessy (http://twitter.com/littlemissmessy)They just removed the curtain, probably due to the technical troubles they've had with it in Hannover.
Ha, poor curtain goes wrong once and it gets fired, harsh.
Hahaha, yep... poor thing managed to work perfectly for over 100 shows and after the first fail they get rid of it :P
Isn't this the second show where they remove it? It would be far easier to just not put it in there if they're not using it
Mimixxx
29-08-2009, 06:48 PM
Yeah, I guess maybe it just gets put up by the crew that erects the stage and then Chris comes along and demands it is removed.
"That curtain made me look a fool, it simply MUST be gone!" :gorgeous: Diva :P
Bahahahaha
Bad Chris :shame: You'd think he would see the comedy in getting trapped by the nighty :P

Okay, I'm back once more. Again, not a detailed review as I'm tired as hell and I must get up pretty early tomorrow again...
But just one sentence: The show was outstanding, even better than the one in Düsseldorf. But that's also probably why I got a much better spot at the front this time and could enjoy the whole gig. ;)
Well, the queuing up and especially the "run" to the front were horrible as always - there were barricades and wavebreakers everywhere (it seemed) and it was like a maze, we had to run for ages! That's never happened to me so far! :stunned: But we ended up at the front right in front of Guy and I was so happy because I could see all of them, even Will! :D
Although Chris talked even less than in Düsseldorf, the boys all in all seemed to be in a pretty good mood! :)
We looked out for Phil, but there was no sign of him... :\ Which was a pity because otherwise we'd have sung Happy Birthday to him. :D
We managed to say hi to Miller, though. :D
Sadly, Chris forgot(?) about the "Lola-Welle" (:P), which I actually missed. And they played Green Eyes instead of TKC this time! :)
The most hilarious part of the evening was certainly the moment when Chris forgot the lyrics to The Hardest Part... He just suddenly stopped like out of the blue and just said: "F...!" Then he had to start twice until it worked again. I really felt sorry for him because it actually looked like he was a little bit embarassed... ;)
Well yeah, can't think of anything more as I'm really (and I mean REALLY) exhausted right now... Will try to upload my photos (also the ones of Düsseldorf) and maybe write a more detailed review next week. ;)
Good night everyone ;)

Coldplay beenden Mini-Sommertour in München (29.08.09)

Coldplay Ends Mini Summer Tour in Munich (29.08.09)
Munich - Saturday night the British band Coldplay ended their mini summer tour through Germany in Munich with an evening full of anthems and perfect pop music.
They have only played a total of three concerts in Germany - the tickets were in great demand. Just as during their tour in the autumn of 2008 they mostly played the songs off their album “Viva la Vida“. But the fans in "Olympia-Reitanlage Riem" in Munich knew the older big Coldplay hits as well and sang along with great joy. It is true that the setlist has not changed since the concerts during the autumn tour, but the open-air-stage created a quite special atmosphäre.
The quartet from London had their big break-through in year 2000 with songs such as “Yellow“. Anthems such as “the Hardest Part“ and “Fix You“ followed. They had an image of being soft rockers with propensity for melancholy, but that changed in 2008 with their long awaited album “Viva la Vida“ which has a more lively sound - a deliberate choice. Frontman Chris Martin continued nevertheless to be a heartthrob. And there was no doubt about that when you saw and heard the screaming female fans in Munich.

Hi SueDeNimes,
I just saw you post after having posted my translation of the TZ online article you mention here. Nice coincidence.
Was the setlist the same as always? Did they celebrate Phil Harvey's birthday on stage with a cake or what?
I understand that it was an amazing concert with a joking Chris Martin. Did he say any German sentences? And if so - examples, please.

All I know is what Ilione said...
People didn't send many tweets but as far as I understood it the setlist was pretty much the same.
Green Eyes instead of Til Kingdom Come (and no Mexican wave, doesn't count as change in the setlist though :P).

Did Chris talk German this evening? I understand that he "forgot" about the Lola Welle - are you saying that there was no attempt to make the wave by means of the handys? Or was he just omitting the word "Lola-Welle"?

Ok thanks :)
I´m a bit pissed of that I was not really able to had fun at Düsseldorf...after such a long time standing at one spot I really was pissed of before Coldplay arrives on the stage.
I was even more happy when a song was over than when a song was starting lol. The secong thing was the bass, which was so loud that songs like fix you or the scientist were destroyed by it. All in all it was not Coldplays fault but I´m just so tired that I was not able to have fun at such a special day where the mythos Chris Martin was playing...I had such a good spot, I got a CD and so on...
Do you think they will come to Germany again next year? Or will they make some holidays? Because I don´t think they will release an album this year.

No, I´m not. Listen to the Left Right CD...thats a perfect example how Coldplay CAN play live. But the bass was so loud that you couldnt hear anything else. Especially Politik O_o
But that wasnt the main thing. As I said I was really tired after 7 hours standing around. Even I had nothing to drink which was critical :D
But I had a nice spot and Chris was really brilliant. I mean talking, jumping, running and singing perfectly. But after 7 hours standing around you can´t really enjoy the songs. You only hope that you can get out of there and drink something.
But coming back to the bass thing. Would it be a bit too loud, OK. But it was louder than Chris...you were not able to hear the violins in Viva La Vida for example. Maybe it would have been better to play for 20.000 people and not for 40.000 in a football stadium. I even can´t remember how some songs were played in Düsseldorf. It´s bad I was not REALLY able to enjoy it but next time I will be better prepared.
When I now see how great the show was I could kick myself that I was not able to see it when beeing there. When watching some videos now I see how great it was.

I have a question to all people who went to Munich?
Did he talk as much German as in Düsseldorf and did he changed the song and put in München?
There was no Lola-Welle that's kind of sad...it was so cute to hear him talking like that in Düsseldorf.
@GT Skilled I did not have the impression that the bass was too loud but that does not mean anything because I was in the back in the seating areas...maybe they made it like this because of us and you in the front had to bear it. The acoustic was ok in Düsseldorf at least for us but what I did not like: it sounded not as if you're in the middle of everything, everything came from the front so I did not feel the real belonging to the happenings (I hope you know what I mean by this).
How was the acoustic in Munich?
I think it's kinda normal you forget the lyrics of a song you play almost every day - it's too usual - don't think it's too bad - even Chris makes mistakes...

I know what you mean. Even when they changed to the B or C stage the sound was still coming from the front. Which was good for me by the way ;)
And yeah I thought so that the bass was good for those people behind me. But in front it seemed to be 250% from what it should be. But as I said...the main thing was my body...I was not able to enjoy it anymore after those looooong hours. It´s something which makes me feel so bad now...I´m such a big Coldplay fan and I thought it will be the best day in my live and then....only because this.

That's why you need to be well-prepared!! It really is like being in some kind of endurance event.
Yes, I guess by the end of the concert I had been "on my feet" six or seven hours without a break, but I didn't notice it until afterwards. Especially once Coldplay took the stage, nothing else mattered any more.:D

Finally I'm back from Munich :D
TickingClock, Ilione, Angel_brb and I boarded the front row - again :D It was a long way trough this f*cking stadium but I gave my best and so we had a good place.
The show was amazing again but I think the gig in Dusseldorf was bit better.
Chris forgot the lyrics of The hardest Part, haha...
We have repeatedly called Guy, but unfortunately no response :(
I made a thank-you banner for Chris and he saw it, grinned and gave me a thumb up ;)
After the show I was able to win a drumstick for TickingClock and a setlist for Ilione - Coldplay karma again :D
This week was the craziest week in my life - 3 Coldplay concerts in 5 days, hundrets of miles on the rail and road, sleeping too little, aching legs but.........................
I've met a lot of very nice Coldplayers, I saw 3 fantastic shows, I've got the best thing ever :D - all I can say now - this was the time of my life!!!

Hello everyone!!!
I'm back home from Munich, a bit exhausted but SOOO hyper about the MOST AMAZING CONCERT OF MY LIFE. Or perhaps the best NIGHT of my life, I can't decide..! I flew to Munich from Athens and at 11 o clock I was in Munich. Had to rent the car first and decided to park closer to the stadium since the parking area was a long way and I couldn't waste my precious time! Thankfully at 12:15 we arrived at the area before the bars that lead to the ticket control. I figure there were approx 15 people there already but I really liked the mood cause almost everyone seemed to be in a 100% viva mood, humming/singing along at the soundchecks -that started later on. We heard Chris' voice about 3-4 times and I was pretty sure it was him since I had never heard that exact same delivery, however I couldn't be so sure cause it was my first coldplay concert.
I don't remember the exact time but at some point before 1:30 they let us in closer and we were positioned 2nd after the ticket control bars. Time passed rather quickly and we bought some merchandise from the stands. At 4:00 entries were opened and the race began! The area was huuge-much larger than i expected it, quite maze-like, but my sister was pretty quick (much quicker than me thankfully :nice: ) so we got 1st row places at johnnys side! I'm not sure but around 6 or perhaps 5:45 the killians were on, they were good I think I liked a couple of songs but they were a bit repetitive imo... Their frontman talked quite a lot but it was in german so i have no idea what he said. Then it was time for howling bells who were ok, not my cup of tea though. Of course, I was clapping and all cause they are support acts so its nice for the crowd to be enthusiastic :D
Anyway, almost immediately after howling bells ended, the crew started preparing the stage for coldplay even though it was close to 8 or sth which meant they had 1 more hour. In the end Magnificent went on earlier *got SO excited then cause i knew it was time!* and after the beautiful blue danube and the thing where the crowd waved their hands Life in Technicolor was on!!!!!!!!!!! I really thought i was in heaven then, first coldplay concert ever and with the boys SO CLOSE!!!!!!!!! I think i totally hyperventilated, for the first three or so songs i just sang my guts out without really thinking
I won't get into details as far as the setlist and the songs are concerned since they obviously were AMAZING and all of the boys were like COMPLETELY HEAVENLY! Only changes is that indeed Green Eyes is back on the setlist but i cant remember postcards from far away, are u sure they did it? When Chris made a mistake at THP it was soooooo cute and he swore a couple of times :P
The highlights for me were when CHRIS POINTED AT US during VLV when he read our sign "you STILL rule the world" and in the end when the boys ran along the whole stage he smiled again at our "happy birthday phil!" sign and johnny smiled 3 times (on the whole cause he had seen us before the rest) and the Will actually laughed and did a little bow and looked at guy and he read it and smiled at us too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
All in all WHAT A NIGHT! i had an ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL time and i CANNOT WAIT FOR WEMBLEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Not only his hair :laugh3:
Even though I have no right to critizise his appearance, I used to say that he looked too skinny in the past but I reckon' that was down to his shorter hair.
Now with the 'longer' haircut, he looks sooo fine :)

At last I´m back from Munich today....What a great show!!! I was in Hannover too, but on Saturday it was my best show ever!!! I was waiting there only one hour and then they opened...some security women didn´t want to let in our line, so we had to wait, but other people could go on...too bad..but finally I was in pretty much in the front, I was so lucky! The people there were amazing, we tried a mexican wave before... when Chris forgot lyrics in The Hardest Part, he was so lovely! he was in pretty good mood..... Will during Billie Jean didn´t want to sing, but Chris hustled into this...it was funny.... I´m so lucky that I was there! Thanks Coldplay for my best night ever!

Review of Coldplay Concert in Munich on 29 August, 2009
(long review, the ONLINE version of TZ (TagesZeitung) a German newspaper covering the Munich region)

Review of Coldplay Concert in Munich on 29 August, 2009
(long review, the ONLINE version of TZ (TagesZeitung) a German newspaper covering the München region)
Coldplay: Thousands of Butterflies for Munich
(link: http://www.tz-online.de/nachrichten/muenchen/coldplay-beenden-mini-sommertour-...)
Munich – Saturday evening the rockband “Coldplay” around the like-able Chris Martin charmed 30,000 fans in the sold-out “Olympia-Reitanlage” in Riem.
The first moment is the most valuable. You have discovered a band’s debut album and learned to love it. You have over and over again told your quite nervous circle of friends about the newcomers. In an absurd way you had the feeling that they were only singing for you. But then this band has the nerve to be world-famous. Their songs are played on radiostations that you hate, they make an appearance at the German television broadcast „Wetten, dass . . .?“, and the singer marries Gwyneth Paltrow. Suddenly they belong to everyone, this true love – it is quite an offence.
Before the concert Saturday you have this fearful question: Is the band “Coldplay” still anything for me? No doubt about the answer: Of course! Coldplay is something for me, for grannies (grandmothers) and for children. Coldplay belongs to the entire world. From the very first note – the Danube Waltz by Johann Strauß – 30,000 fans in the sold-out “Reitstadion Riem” celebrate this quartet / these four band members that act in a most irreproachable and normal way.
Singer Chris Martin is the rare guy that the ladies would not push down from the edge of the bed and that the gentlemen would not push down from the bar stool. During the first songs – among them songs of high calibre such as „Clocks“ and „In My Place“ with their pulsing, melancholic piano themes and guitar riffs – he runs non-stop from one end of the stage to the other what by no means affects his boyish tenor. „Danke schön, meine Freunde!“ (thank you, my friends), the 32-year-old singer shouts to the enthusiastic audience. „Everybody okay da hinten?“ (Is everybody in the back okay?)
Everything is also beautifully adapted to the semi-circular area. In the trees and at the loudspeaker masts, huge fairy lamps are hanging under the half-mond. The stage backdrop functions partly as a huge black screen, partly as flashing lamps. Then „Yellow“ is played, and accompanying Coldplay’s most beautiful song is a flood of yellow balloons. The charmer behind the graffiti-decorated guitar sings, „Schau dir die Sterne an, schau, wie sie für dich leuchten“ (“Look at the stars, look how they shine for you”), and everybody sings and celebrates the kitsch.
Martin is master of this: Everybody can easily relate to his romantic poetry, to his self-centredness and to his slogans in relation to endurance. Therefore Coldplay is legitimate successor to R.E.M. and U2. The music is similarly anthemic, recently also with characteristic choruses that simply belong in an open-air theatre. The foursome are playing quite well – but not like perfectionists. They are playing „God Put A Smile Upon Your Face“ with a wink in the style of a new-wave-disco-orchestra. And as Martin, when singing „The Hardest Part“, has to stop because he cannot recall the lyrics, he quite simply sings about it: „I tried to sing, but I couldn’t remember the words – and that’s the hardest part.“ He gets away with it because his behaviour is not outré / outrageous.
Boredom never occurs, on the contrary: In connection with „Viva La Vida“ drummer Will Champion is playing the kettledrum vigorously, and Martin lets himself fall ecstatically on one of the ramps near the audience, and when playing „Lovers In Japan“ the confetti gun is emitting confetti in the form of butterflies.
And suddenly the band is gone – only to reappear at the other end of the crowd on a very small stage, where they play „Green Eyes“ and the funny Michael Jackson cover „Billie Jean“ in the glow of thousands of mobile phone displays. At the end, after the tear-jerker „The Scientist“, fireworks are displayed in the evening sky. There the stars shine – gelb -, and you are sure of this: Even more valuable than having got to know this band, it is to see and hear them “live”.

Coldplay: München
Link: http//www.laxmag.de/laxlive/1189-coldplay-muenchen
I wanted to sing a song, but didn't know how to go on".
Danke, Coldplay!

Coldplay: Munich
Source: http//www.laxmag.de/laxlive/1189-coldplay-muenchen
Huge balloons, butterflies made of paper, and at the end of the concert fireworks as well: In Munich, with an almost magical concert, Coldplay proved that they are quite rightly considered one of the best live bands of today. Tina, employed by LAXMag, allowed herself to be enchanted by Coldplay.
As you will know, big events cast their shadows ahead. In this case this means as follows: Already on the motorway, the road to Coldplay Open Air was signposted. When the car had been parked at a price of sieben (!) Euro at the parking area, you had to go by shuttlebus to the venue “Reitarena München Riem”. There already the impressive stage construction gave you the first indication of something magnificent to be expected here today. Here it was not simply a concert taking place, but a band staging an overwhelming all-round event. The Coldplay logo was even printed on the cup. A look at the sky, past the huge balloons placed everywhere at the venue, allowed you to hope that Saint Peter / the clerk of the weather exceptionally would be well disposed towards the music fans this August evening.
A pleasant late-summer sun was shining over Riem, when a band from North Rhine-Westphalia prepared for the presumably biggest concert in their young lives: A little before 18 o’clock the German band “the Kilians” opened the night. If the young boys were nervous, at least they did not show it. Instead they were moving on stage, as if they were to play in front of a five-digit number crowd every day. With their britrock the band from Dinslaken provided an amazing atmosphere in the front rows, and they even managed to make the audience clap along, which is already remarkable for an opening band in Munich.
It was only a pity that, for reasons not known to us, the organizers decided to move forward the beginning of the event by more than one hour. The beginning of the event was stated on the tickets to be at 19 o’clock. Fortunately, due to the nice weather many fans had secured themselves the best seats in the Arena already in the afternoon, because whoever arrived punctually to the concert, missed not only the German band “die Kilians, but also a large part of the performance by the Australian group Howling Bells.
For the quartet around singer Juanita Stein, the English media had come up with the concept of "Indie Noir". In Riem the Howling Bells appeared everything but dark in the sunshine. In high spirits the band introduced songs off their current album. At first the band played the single Cities Burning Down, and they finished with the title track Radio Wars, where, with noticeable enthusiasm, Juanita played her drum. In the meantime with Low Happening off the debut album, the band brought goose-bumps to the listeners, and Juanita won the hearts of the audience when she sat down on the edge of the stage and told a short story about the band. Remains to be hoped that the extraordinary band with the support of Coldplay finally gets the attention they have deserved for a long time.
Coldplay, of course, no longer need to complain of lack of attention, the band having among other things recorded 2008’s most sold album. At 20 o’clock Chris, Johnny, Will and Guy entered the stage which reminded me of an oversized living room. A special gimmick was a television set on the stage, the whole time displaying live pictures of the show.
Most surprisingly, Coldplay were playing two of their greatest hits, Violet Hill and Clocks, at the beginning of the show. Anyone who thought that the best part of the concert was already over, was mistaken, because the band almost surpassed themselves every 5 minutes. With oversized video screens at the back and on the sides of the stage and laser beams, a multicoloured light spectacle was produced, the huge spherical globes located over the stage changed into celestial bodies and then into globes. You did not know where to look first. When playing Yellow, yellow balloons were flying round among the audience. When playing Lovers In Japan, there was a flood of colourful paper butterflies making the audience move in funny ways waving their arms and jumping, while Chris Martin was dancing across the catwalk with a Japanese-style light umbrella.
The stage construction was designed in a very audience-friendly way: Several catwalks extended from both sides into the audience, the screens showed almost every single movement of the band, and it also showed pictures of the enthusiastic audience. "Lights out und Handys bitte, Handys bitte!" (meaning: Lights out and mobile phones, please, mobile phones, please), Chris Martin, shouted, as he and his band had arrived at a small stage amongst the audience. The light went out, and the venue “Reitarena Riem” changed into a gleaming ocean of mobile phone lights, as Coldplay obliged with a surprisingly not embarrassing acoustic version of Billie Jean.
In spite of all the stage pomp, the band appeared to be down-to-earth and close to the audience (interconnection). You could clearly feel that these gentlemen were having much fun playing on the gigantic stage. Chris Martin scored particularly many points in relation to sympathy as, for a short time, he forgot the lyrics of The Hardest Part and, with a laugh, spontaneously rewrote the verse forgotten: "I wanted to sing a song, but didn't know how to go on". After all, superstars too are human beings.
The band were fully convincing in terms of their musical performance and in terms of showing us that they are human beings. High-spirited and fully trained musicians were standing on the stage here, and they had not forgotten that they owe their fame to their fans. Coldplay thanked the audience with an impressive concert the purpose of which was not to show off the band, but to make the fans happy. And the band succeeded extremely well in doing that this evening in Munich!
After almost two hours’ show that felt like only 30 minutes, the trip into Coldplay wonderland ended in a manner consistent with Coldplay’s station - with fireworks. After the concert the entire area resounded with Viva La Vida chorusses sung by thousands of fans. At the exit the fans received a free live CD as a souvenir. Thank you, Coldplay!

Hiya! Of course there's nothing stupid about simply saying that you enjoyed the show a lot. :) If you read a bit more on the boards and especially in the live section, you'll find that many people on here share this opinion with you. :) At least I do understand you and I also have to smile and simply feel happy whenever I think about the concerts. :) By the way, what a nice idea to start your "concert-career" with seeing Coldplay. Really?! Ooops, I really can't seem to remember... :stunned::confused: Are you sure? I mean, that photo of the Howling Bells actually wasn't the first one of my shots... Well, maybe you're right... You know, I'm only getting older and more forgetful, too... ;):PYou really get! :stunned:
It wasn't your very first but one of the first. And you DID show it to me and we both went 'Ouh, good!'. Can't believe you forgot that!
Aww, how could I forget about that?! :shocked2: Haha, that was just such an epic moment, really! One of the best ones that evening indeed. :D
Only such mad girls like we are could see signs of SP in almost every bit of the show...! Seriously.:laugh3:You forget SO MUCH! :wtf:
We talked like more than two hours about Snow Patrol right through the whole performences of the support acts. Don't you remember that we talked about Gary's love life while fighting against those stupid girls. And we watched videos. And listened to The Reindeer Section. Maaaaaaaaan how could you forget about THAT? About not getting between Gary and Nathan because ... I probably stop herre right now. :D

I know, I'm sorry... But three concerts within only four days really IS a lot for my old brain. :P
And hey, of course I didn't forget about all our babbling about Snow Patrol in between. ;) I loved those videos... And your "wallpapers" for your mp3-player. :D You know what? Let's swap: You'll get my magical camera and I'll get your Gary-mp3-player. Deal? :D
But: Does "The Lightning Strike" ring a bell for you? :D I bet YOU can't remember that! Well, just let me say: I do. :P:lol:

First of all: THIS IS NO GARY-MP3-PLAYER!
I have a lot more Coldplay stuff on there! :P
And I can't really use your magical camera for I don't attend too many concerts. I like seeing your photos better. :nice:
Ehm ... The Lightning Strike is a song by Snow Patrol. :smug: I remember that. :P
Honestly, what should I remember? ...

Well, didn't one of the "videos" on the LCD-screen in the back during one song (I just can't seem to remember which one, shame on me!) remind us on the video that is shown live during The Lightning Strike...? Now as I forgot/mixed up so much, I'm not sure anymore, but at least I'm quite sure that at least I thought that... ;)

Well, at least both bands come along with each other very well and they are my two favourites, so I don't mind.

Phew, then I remembered correctly. Now I'm relived because for a few seconds, I really wondered whether my brain was playing a trick on me and that I mixed up everything now...
And yep, you're right. :) I think the same. And I don't mind that some things seem to be similar in their shows as I like the ideas anyway. :cheesy:

But nooo... I wouldn't dare to take a reflex camera to a concert here... :stunned: The security guys would either take it from you at the gates or if they saw you using one at the show you'd be in serious trouble... :uhoh: ;)
You're welcome !
Yes, a reflex is just impossible to bring, but not a bridge :nice:
I hope I'll do such pics on monday !!
It was! I was between Ilione and aniskywalker & her daughter. And I got THE Will souvenir - his drumstick. Thanks to Nicole again!

And you know I'm always able to turn anything into something Snow Patrol related. Therefore I'm just too addicted. (Thanks to you, I would have never turned into what I am now without you telling me how much you need to see them after Stuttgart again and founding this Gary gruop. I was a freaking Nathan-lover before, for God's sake!!.)

There are worse things indeed. But when I'm thinking about ... I'm probably still more a Nathan fan for I wasn't talking so much shit to him when I met him. Gary probably hates me. :laugh4: Or found me deadly annoying. :rolleyes2:

Aww Bianca, that was very kindly said of you.;)
But still... I wasn't really talking about me trying to "steal" the drumstick... I rather thought that someone could have ripped it out of my hands because of my clumsiness... Or I could have stumbled and lost it. These actually were my first thoughts... ;) Seriously, I mean... What should I do with a drumstick of Will...?! No use for it, really. He. :P:lol:
And just in the case I'd have gotten mad and run away: I bet you probably would have set Nicole on me because we both know that she's much faster than both of us.:laugh3:
I returned from Munich just yesterday. The concert was awesome. We made it to the stage and I stood in front of Jonny again. I hope he doesn't think I'm a stalker. :laugh3:
My friend and I were just watching a movie on my iPod when the Kilians entered the stage at around 6pm ... that was strange, but the less time we had to wait the better. :D
I think Chris was in a far better mood this time. "Wie geht's? Wie geht's? Wie geht's?" :laugh3:
Plus during the Billie Jean Cover Chris asked the crowd to keep up the "handys" ("Handys, handys, handys, yes handys please") ... in Hannover the people didn't quite understand him at first, when he said cell phones. :laugh3:
I had weird moment when I thought Chris was directly looking at me because I hit him with my flashlight unintentionally (sucky camera always turns the flashlight on again). He looked rather pissed and pointed at my direction. But I'm still not sure if he really pointed at me or the girls with the banner that said "You still rule the world" in front of me. :embarassed:
It took ages to leave the concert. The police seemed to be overwhelmed by the crowd that left the stadium.
Well, not a real review, but it was almost a week ago and I'm already kinda sad, that my Coldplay summer is over. But I've got tons of pics to look at.

hi everybody
I just came back from holiday so I couldn't write anything earlier....
Wow Wow Wow the concert was amazing!!!I don't know the right word to tell you how absolutely great fantastic awesome...it was!!!!It was my first concert and have seen a lot of videos from other concert but to hear them live just 3 meters in front of you is a totally other thing!!
We arrives early and had just about 2 hours to get there.we were so lucky to get right front of stage what was super!!
one of the best moments was in my opinion the atmosphere during the waltz when everybody was nervous and tensely cause you knew they would come on stage every minute.and then they came.Jonny was the first person we saw and he was so near!!
chris was in a very funny mood this night, so he was joking when he sang the last words of fix you (fiiiiiiii ------ xxxxxxx ) or forced will to sing a part of Billie Jean.:):):)
Violet Hill was one of the songs I like very much but with the beat and the guitars the live version is sooo much better than the one on the record.
after every song I thought "wow that was the best one tonight"...but I kept thinking this after every following song :):):)
best atmosphere: Politik (lights, incredible passionate singing of Chris, and the very loud piano!!!Wow) , of course lovers in Japan with the millions of butterflies, and in my place where the stage was in a very bright light and you could see how the band members smiled at each other and everyone yould see how much fun is it for them, also after so many concert they have played over the last year, to play live for 30 000 people.
it was the best concert I have seen so far and I can't wait to buy again tickets!!!!
hopefully the new record will be released not so far in the future...
one question: what was Chris saying about Chloe?and husband?who's Chloe?

Before I start to write, I have to apologise to anyone who's not really a fan of Guy :laugh3: as I have mostly only pics of him due to our spot in front of the stage ... plus the fact that I wanted to concentrate on him mainly as I hardly have pics of him (when being in London in February at the Warchild Concert, I mainly took pics of Chris, so I wanted to make up for that now ;) ) :D
Also sorry for this long review, in case you make it through you deserve a gong ;)

We arrived at the venue (Reitstadion Riem) at around 11.45 am on Saturday, August 29th 2009.
The venue is the old Olympic Stadium for Show Jumping and is located in the middle of nowhere in Munich.
We parked our car at a tiny parking lot some 1 km away from the location and made our way to the entrance.
By the time we got there, only 5 more people were waiting there. 4 people who came all the way from Malta (don’t know whether they are on this forum as well) and another boy with crutches (poor him, we thought– as queueing up so early and ending up at the front when you can’t run don’t really match), more about him later.
Anyway, at some point (I guess it must have been around 2 pm) they let us further in in front of the turnstalls to queue and the 3 of us took turnstalls next to each other to make sure that at least one of us will get in first.
I was at some sort of ‘dead point’ at 3 pm as waiting started getting boring and me getting tired as well.
Luckily the ‘conditions’ for queueing were excellent. At first it was a bit cloudy with more and more sunny spells and temperatues around 20°C (~ 68°F) which is not too hot and not too cold. The day before we had massive rain but on this Saturday, it stayed dry all day long – at least in Munich!
At 4 pm they opened up the turnstalls and bodychecked people and searched their bags and stuff. Then there was another line of security people who were tearing off tickets and after that there was still a huge gap to run to get to the stage.
The entrance was right next to the left side of the stage so while waiting we could actually look onto stage, so that ‘soundcheck’ people were referring to definitely didn’t come from CP themselves but was live recordings being played, as they started and finished abruptly.
So we thought we ‘only’ had to run down the little way and would arrive to the left side of the stage already but little did we know. To get inside the ‘inncer circle’, we had to run a WHOLE ROUND around the middle barrier to enter the inner circle on the opposite side (Guys side), then run around one of the catwalks to get to the front of the stage. My lungs stopped working already a few hundred meters after I started running but luckily my two friends continued. Afterwards we were coughing for around 2 hours straight! And everyone around us did so too. And this is no joke!!! :stunned:
The security people (well most of them) didn’t even tell people off running but some of them started cracking jokes on our expense. So when the guy with the crutches got in I heard someone yell in the distance ‘Run, Forrest, run’ which wasn’t nice but I guess I saw/heard him laughing when looking back and even more surprising, he ended up getting a pretty good spot I think, being 5th row centre or so. :)
We got literally the last first row spots, located on the right side of the stage (where we wanted to be *evil grin*) and at first I thought that these spots were a bit shitty as it was at the bend to the right catwalk already but later, they turned out to be just excellent. :D
Anyway, now the 3rd part of waiting started but time passed by pretty quickly.
Another good thing was, that the stage was some kind of sunshield for us as the sun was behind it, so we didn’t need sunglasses nor did we get baked by it.
The security guy in front of us was really nice as well and we’ve made a little smalltalk.
He told us that the Kilians (first support band, they are from Germany but singing in English – check them out!) would be on at around 5.45 pm which we thought was probably only a misunderstanding, as they entered the stage at 6.40 pm in Hannover. But in the end he was right and they came on.
Like some other people already mentioned, they were pretty good and honestly speaking, I liked them MUCH better than the White Lies & Howling Bells. They were kind of innocently charming, their music more catchy and the singer’s talking (even if it was in german – but hey the show WAS in Germany!) was nice and you could figure out easily, that they all felt chuffed to be given the chance to open up for Coldplay.
Small gap for getting off the Kilians stuff and getting things set up for the Howling Bells which started their set at around 6.40 pm.
Like some other people mentioned before, they were not my cup of tea as well. Kilians created a far better atmosphere even though they are not that popular in Germany themselves until now …
Anyway, at around 7.20 pm roadies were starting to set up things for our boys and we saw Hoppy and a few others but shout outs were useless and we didn’t really expect anyone to give us a feedback anyway *lol*
We got out our first banner out as we thought that maybe Phil was there as well (despite his B-Day) and the banner just read ‘Happy Birthday Phil’ and security guys as well as people behind us were a little irritated as they probably started to wonder, who Phil was … *lol*
But there was no sight of Phil in front of the stage.
The huge curtain was removed before the preshow music started. They probably didn’t want to risk the boys being buried under it again after the Hannover incident.
I guess it wasn’t a technical problem in Hannover but all due to the wind, which pushed the curtain into the stage setting.
When the first sounds of Blue Danube started, we got another banner out and we wanted to be ‘charming’ first before we showed our ‘criticism banner’ *lol*
When Violet Hill was played, Chris & Guy started ‘scanning’ the audience/first row and Chris caught sight of our banner and you could see that he was narrowing his eyes trying to read what was written on it and once he figured it out, he was looking over to Guy, giving him a nod to look into our direction which he did and you could see he was reading it as well and shortly afterwards had a huge smile on his face … :)
http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr137/LittleMissMessy_68/Coldplay_Munich_29082009/29082009_0361.jpg
Our banner read:
Please please play the best bassline … White Shadows!
So don’t say we haven’t tried making them aware to change the setlist ;)
Clocks and In My Place were absolutely amazing, esp. when the crowd sang along to IMY.
Then Yellow was played and we even forgot to get our glowsticks out as I was way too busy taking pics ;)
Funny thing was that the balloons were kind of driven back to the stage because of the wind. I only expected to be ‘hit’ by one while taking pictures but I wasn’t that lucky.
When I realized that the played ‘GOW’ again instead of ‘SOS’, I was a bit disappointed as I think that the visuals on the big screens would fit much better to ‘SOS’. Ah well, you can’t have everything.
http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr137/LittleMissMessy_68/Coldplay_Munich_29082009/29082009_0367.jpg
Shortly before the guys were about to enter the B-Stage we got another banner out, which wasn’t that charming. Well, it wasn’t charming for Guy but it was for R#42 ‘cause we decided to do a bit of mocking with Guy for his Twitter absence.
This banner read:
Guy tweeting: Unreliable *wink*
R#42’s blogs: PRICELESS!
So when the guys were doing the last bits of SS, Guy already noticed the banner and he was raising his eyebrow and wrinkling his forehead but in a kind of irritated/fun way. He didn’t really look honestly pissed but more amused. So when the lights turned down he looked at the banner again and had a huge grin on his face. This guy KNOWS EXACTLY what’s going on. :laugh3: With all the tweets towards him to come back aso. :sneaky:
He is such a show off *lol* Most of the times he smiled BIG TIME when the lights were off. He’s way too cool to do it in public. :D Well, he does, but on very rare occasions.
Well, the biggest surprise though was Chris. This banner was entirely mocking with Guy and giving credits to Miller but when Chris was walking down to the B-stage he kind of walked slowly, looked down to the banner, read it, had a huge smile on his face and gave us thumbs up  and then he threw a guitar pick towards us which Iwona now has
We looked at each other being completely overwhelmed as we never expected Chris to take notice of that banner and especially NOT getting any feedback because of it, mainly because it was aimed towards Guy & Miller only.
But I reckon we got the thumbs up for the fact that R#42’s blogs are so brilliant and less because Guy stopped tweeting (which he probably doesn’t even know about).
B-Stage was fun even though we didn’t see much, only the backside of the boys which can be charming in a way as well.
http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr137/LittleMissMessy_68/Coldplay_Munich_29082009/29082009_0437.jpg
When Chris fucked up the lyrics to ‘THP’ everyone started cheering as this shows that ‘the fuck up fairy’ is always present :laugh3:
The most funny thing was that he fucked it up twice … and in the end simply changed one line to get into it again.
These kind of ditches make concerts even more special IMO. :wink3:
Then VLV was on and the choir was amazing though I’ve heard it better to be honest.
http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr137/LittleMissMessy_68/Coldplay_Munich_29082009/29082009_0462.jpg
http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr137/LittleMissMessy_68/Coldplay_Munich_29082009/29082009_0472.jpg
Funny was also, when the ran down the left ramp/catwalk to get to the C-stage they played ‘Singing In The Rain’ (don’t know whether it was the Gene Kelly original or not) even though it wasn’t raining at all. Maybe they decided to play it so that people knew something was going on …
‘cause I got the feeling that many people didn’t really realize that the boys were sprinting to the other end of the arena in Hannover to enter the C-stage and the audience only realized it when the actually entered the small stage. So maybe they’ve added this little musical intro!?
We didn’t see anything of the C-stage action unless looking at the magic balls above the main stage. It was funny when Chris kind of forced Will into singing ‘Billie Jean’ as well *lol* and he did an excellent job!
http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr137/LittleMissMessy_68/Coldplay_Munich_29082009/29082009_0482.jpg
http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr137/LittleMissMessy_68/Coldplay_Munich_29082009/29082009_0495.jpg
So while the boys were performing at the C-stage, roadies were getting the butterfly cannons ready and we were really excited as we would be showered by butterflies at this show :)
So when ‘LIJ’ was on we were indeed showered by butterflies and it was such a crazy and wonderful feeling standing here.
One thing I noticed is that they didn’t have the metallic/plastic butterflies anymore. Maybe they have avoided them because they are not biodegradable as it was an outdoor show?! So don’t say that Coldplay aren’t concerned about the environment.

http://i477.photobucket.com/albums/rr137/LittleMissMessy_68/Coldplay_Munich_29082009/29082009_0521.jpg
We also spotted Miller shortly before the concert ended and we called out to him (still having our Twitter/blog banner ready) showing him the banner and he took a picture of it and had a huge grin on his face as well and he looked really chuffed. *lol*

The only thing I would add is that when CP came on stage that Chris saw pretty early on our Happy Birthday Phil Banner, smiled & noded and looked to Guy, who then also had a "little Guy smile" on his face.....:)
I just loved Chris at the gig esp. because no banner was for him.

Ahhhh....The review that I've been waiting for :D
That's amazing Kirsten...Your Guy banner is hilarious
Thanks for the great review and pics!
It was a great night for me too, but it seems that yours was even better. I wish I had taken banners with me. :D
I think I saw you if you were standing right in front of the gates. I was kinda jealous because you had the best places to start running ... :laugh3:
They stopped letting in people right after the first people were through the gates ... they had massive problems with communication or whatsoever ... it was a disaster. They actually had to explain the security guards to put the ticket tear-offs (?) into the garbage bags (which they had to organise first). We had to wait at least another 10min after the first people were already in the stadium. :dozey:
Please please play the best bassline … White Shadows!
I totally agree on that one! I was so thrilled when they rehearsed it in Hannover ... but why the heck don't they play it during concerts?!
I noticed that, too. But I guess it's easier to clean a closed stadium than a location like the Reitstadion Riem.

Thanks :D :sneaky:
We just couldn't let him off with all this soft-soap people are giving him ;)
Someone had to bring him back to reality and point out the important things in life :sneaky: :laugh3:
Although I honestly doubt that it would make any difference but it was good for a laugh ;)
Esp. because Miller took a pic of that banner as well :D
Wondering whether it was 'discussed' afterwards in any way :laugh3:

Just give them time :sneaky:
On the other hand I don't think that they would actually listen to some fans' requests and change their setlist :laugh3:
And as for Twitter ... I highly doubt that we ever hear from Guy again which is sad, but it was nice while it lasted :)

and as for the setlist, well, they soundchecked White Shadows, and it was not the first time they did in this tour, so they better play it...Wembley would be perfect :P

You don't really have to go to that extent. You've brought us back some excellent photos, and for that we thank you. You still have to enjoy every show that you went to.
If you manage to take photos, then that would be great. But if you didn't manage to do that but actually enjoyed the show, we'd be glad that you did :nice:

No problem :)
I am a 'visual' person myself, I'd like to have pics to look at which remind me of the show or which I can say about that I took them.
Gives a total different meaning to it when you look at your very own pictures instead of someone else's concert pics.
And if I concentrate on taking photos in Nijmegen, I will still have 4 more shows where I can enjoy the music and the show as a whole ... :)

When Coldplay tickets went on sale here in Munich they sold out really fast. I got an email from someone that is in a new friends group that I belong to saying that she had an extra pair of tickets because the friends that they bought them for weren't able to come to Munich-so, their concert miss was our gain! I snatched them up and then one of Robert's associates found that they needed to be out of town and couldn't use their tickets-so we grabbed those for our friends C&P. The concert was last night and it was a fantastic! We had "Steht" tickets, which means that you are on the ground level standing...along with about 10,000 of your closest friends. We arrived and started to scope out a spot..hemming and hawing about whether or not to go over to the other side of the stage, when all of a sudden the security guard in front of us opens up a gate and we get to go into a closer ring-excellent! The picture above is taken while they are playing "Yellow"...and they brought out these huge yellow beach balls for the audience to swat about. Fantastische. It was our first concert here and actually the first concert for Robert and I to go to together. We all had a terrific time. We came home humming songs and with multi-colored thin paper butterflies that they shot into the air covering the crowd during "Lovers in Japan". It was so cool!

That was my last trick this summer and last trick for the time being this year. Im olympischen Reitstadion München/Riem gaben Coldplay sich die Ehre. Olympic equestrian stadium in Munich / Riem, Coldplay gave themselves the honor.
In advance, I wrestled a bit with destiny. On Friday it was warm and beautiful, beautiful weather on Sunday was announced ... aber ausgerechnet am Tag des Open-Air Konzertes sollte es regnen. But precisely on the day of the open-air concert, it rains. Und es regnete auch... And it rained ... aber Gott sei Dank nur südlich von München. But thank God, just south of Munich. We had beautiful weather, a jacket, the temperature was ok, and it was above the impressive stadium and even an evocative, almost cloudless evening sky.
The concert was called on the way home the radio was sensational. Und DEM kann ich nur zustimmen. DEM and I can only agree. The sound was simply fantastic, he had almost CD quality. I do not recall any open air, where was the sound so good.
Left and right of the stage were huge screens and directly on the stage behind them, they still had such a huge canvas. Partially ran on these videos, some of the live image and some animations. During the song "42" was seen an fledged flight through space, through the stars, planets just to pass .... tolle und passende Animation. great and the matching animation.
The guys hung in and gave himself fully to the public in addition to their high quality music and a great show. Hier ein paar Höhepunkte: Here are a few highlights:
Bei "Yellow" wurden einige gelben Bälle ins Publikum geworfen. With "Yellow" were some of the yellow balls thrown into the audience
In "The Hardest Part" singer Chris Martin had a Black-Out. Man beachte ab Minute 1:50 die nächsten 30 Sekunden. It should be noted at minute 1:50 the next 30 seconds. I try to sing but I couldn't remember anything" He moves very well from the affair and proves humor as he spontaneously modifies the text: "And I try to sing but I could not remember anything
Halfway through the show, they left the stage, ran between the viewer through the entire stadium stood on a small stage in front of the seats, and only played with 3 guitars unplugged songs ... darunter als Tribute an Michael Jackson "Billie Jean" including a tribute to Michael Jackson "Billie Jean"
The show highlight was definitely "Lovers in Japan". While this song thousands of paper butterflies were blown into the air. Das war cool... That was cool ... es war als würde man in einem Schneetreiben stehen. it was as if you were standing in a snowstorm
