Coldplay have brought the number of Australian shows to their itinery for 2009 to eleven, with the addition of a fourth Sydney show. Here is Anchorman at Coldplay.com (http://coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=231) to confirm the news today:

Good morning. We're pleased to confirm that Coldplay have announced three more Australian shows, taking the number of gigs on their 2009 Antipodean adventure to 11. The three new ones are at Perth on February 28th, Melbourne on March 5th and Sydney on March 15th. All of the Oz gigs are onsale now from here. Here's the full list of shows...

Hey Guys,

i really need some help. I have 2 standing tickets for saturday nights (14) concert and have just realised i am double booked (cousins wedding) now after discussing with the better half we have decied that the best solution is to try and swap these tickets for one of the other concerts for standing or excellent sitting tickets.

Not here to make any money just want to see an awesome band. So if any one is interested please let me know.

Hey guys, my name is Sam and im off to Sydney this coming weekend for the concert on the 15th! Coming all the way from the gold coast, got floor tix, took ages with ticketeks crappy server lag, so just managed to get syd GA floor, anyway, who else is going? I read some stuff from the other thread but didnt see much as far as the 15th goes?

Sam: I went to the 11 March concert, I rocked up at 2pm at Acer Arena & there were about 50 ppl in front of me in the line-up. However, I manged to get to 2nd row! It was such a buzz! :)

first time poster, but just got back from the show. i went thurs night as well, and it was pretty much the same set. only differences i noticed were they played "speed of sound" and "green eyes" during the acoustic set (then "i'm a believer" - "death will never conquer" got left off). apparently chris had promised will's brother he would let will sing a song, but will didn't seem too fussed.

and just after the scientist chris played a tribute to the wiggles (two of whom i'd seen walking to their seats at the start of the night - they got a pretty big cheer from the crowd around them) with a bit of "fruit salad, yummy yummy"!

all in all a very similar show, but still fantastic. chris battled on despite having his eyebrow taped up due to an incident with a drum stick. i guess that happened last night?

must also say how great decoder ring and mercury rev were tonight, i think mercury rev were definitely a lot tighter than at thursday's show.

OK folks I'm finally back online.

I woke up @ 5.30am for 2 days straight to queue up for the gigs on the 14th and 15th :dozey: Surviving on 2 hours' sleep today, I reached the place @ 7am, with 2 other people in front of me.

Skip the 12 hours of waiting in queue... I managed to be front row centre :D This was probably the craziest, most energetic show I've gone to so far. Being the last show in Sydney and Australia, I would presume it would be so since it would be long time till Coldplay visit Down Under again.

Personally it was a treat hearing BOTH Speed of Sound AND Green Eyes being played on the C-stage. So far it has been either/or at the gigs. Although for the 2nd night running, Will did not sing DWNC :sad:

I've been to 3 front rows out of 5 concerts... Basically if I've bought a standing ticket I've been at the front, otherwise I'm seated. Are the US gigs all seated? I have the impression that they are :thinking:

What a phenomenal couple of nights. I saw Coldplay on Thursday's Sydney show, my first Coldplay concert despite being a fan since 'Yellow', and repeated the experience last night. It was definitely one of the best live shows I've seen in a long time and Sunday's events made it one of the most unforgettable nights of the year. My comrade and I ended up front row right in front of the B-stage catwalk section and had what we considered to be the best view in the house. The guys were on form the whole way through, topping the Thursday show thanks to a brief acoustic take on 'Speed Of Sound' (albeit being unexpectedly cut short after the first chorus). Highlights for me were the theatrical moments of the show - the sparklers behind the black gauze to open the show, the balls in 'Yellow', the use of the video screens throughout (most effectively in '42') and, of course, 'Lovers In Japan'. I challenge anyone to go to a Coldplay show and not be completely won over by the time they walk out. Despite his constant self-deprecation, Chris has borderline genius talent and genuine charisma, and he is backed by three of the finest musicians in the business.

I met Chris after the show and he proved himself to be every inch the consummate professional, as well as a pleasantly polite, soft-spoken and humble man. His generosity made the night even more magical than it already was.

Nothing more to tell! It was very relaxed, but Chris was tired and everyone was conscious of not taking too much of his time. He offered to sign things for everyone first (I held out the 'Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends' CD sleeve which he signed 'Chris' and then, almost as an after-thought, wrote 'love' above it) and then take photos. Most people got photos with him, but he did seem more rushed towards the end. The fans were extremely considerate, thanking Chris when he signed something or took a photo with them. He kept saying 'sure' and 'cool' whenever he was thanked. He's a really nice guy.

Coldplay's just-wrapped Australian tour has broken records at one venue and created a halo effect for half-a-dozen recordings.

With their fourth and final concert at Sydney's Acer Arena on Sunday, the group clocked-up nearly 60,000 ticket sales at the site, setting a new venue record for the most tickets shifted by an artist on a single tour.

On this occasion, the band shifted 58,943 tickets at Acer, outpacing Justin Timberlake's 57,788 ticket sales set back in November 2007. It means Coldplay reclaimed a record they had earlier owned with their 2006 "Twisted Logic" tour, in support of the album "X&Y" (Parlophone).

The popular British band's 11-date national headlining tour, which also visited arenas in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane, was the catalyst for a sales push behind six Coldplay tracks. "Viva La Vida" is at No. 30 on the current ARIA singles chart, up from No.38 last week, while "Clocks" is now at No. 72, "Fix You" is at No. 79, "Life In Technicolour II" is at No. 81, "The Scientist" is at No. 90 and "Violet Hill" is at No. 95.

The group will no doubt have won new fans with a rousing performance to open the Sydney leg of the Sound Relief concert last Saturday, just hours before turning out for an Acer concert across town.

Coldplay's multiple Grammy-winning album "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends" has reached quadruple platinum certification down under (280,000 units).

That night after the concert I slept maybe 4 hours... then I had to wake up to prepare to check out of the backpackers :P Then when I reached home I slept @ 5am because I was doing my photos despite having to go to work the day after :P

Strangely enough, I'm not VERY sleepy... It must be all that residual excitement still in my system.

If so, I was about twenty meters behind you, in a white shirt, with 'Billabong' in rainbow letters on it. I'm not that hard to spot. I'm 15 yrs old and 6'6". :stunned:

Well I finally saw my uncle to get some video's of the 15th [he went on the 15th, I went on the 14th... My mates and I ran out of memory on the camera :( so I got him to take some for me :)]

I was looking through the footage, and that would have to be the quietest concert I have ever seen! Hardly heard anyone singing/screaming/yelling/clapping and so forth on the video! Maybe it's me not noticing it, but seriously... I didn't hear much singing or anything! Someone want to tell me that wasn't the case? Oh Please! :P :)

Ahh, and finally put my poster up... Got one on the 14th and realised I wanted another when I left... so yay! My uncle got me another! :D :D :D

Ahh, similar to me. I went with 4 people, my best mate, my neighobur, her best friend, and myself, for the 14th.

My mate and I were singing/rocking it out heaps, and standing pretty much all the time. We were on the other side, almost opposite to where they did 'I'm A Believer'. Awesome seats they were :) But yeah. People were looking at us strangely though, as what happened to you :P

Funny though... you stand up and have an awesome time, and everyone else behind you conforms... lol. Well, so they should stand up! It's Coldplay!

exactly min! we've spent a lot of money for the gig so we might as well just enjoy it!
one thing that i like about standing in the seating area is that u'll get a lot of space for urself to move around!
when u're at the front centre, u wont get that much space at all! my hand was bruised the next day cause i was too squashed!
but it paid off cause i got guy smiling at me haha!

Seriously though. Like take for instance, my mate was next to me, and there was a guy that went by himself. He only got up for Viva La Vida, and still to this day I reckon it was because he couldn't see since the people in front of him were blocking his view. Like come on, why go to a concert where you pay $140 or so, and not get involved?

I got heaps involved!!! And for that, I am grateful! :). There's nothing worse than someone not getting involved and regretting that in the end, and just thinking how awesome it would have been if they were singing and dancing and all that.

Aww if only I joined this forum before... I would have at least known some Sydney-siders from here that were going as well!

well i stood at the stairs beside my seat as i was put right next to the stairs so yeay for me!
the security ppl did have a look at this crazy girl (read:me) but they didnt say anything until i moved to the bigger stairs...haha.
i think it's better to stand on the stairs as i wont block anyone's view..and people from my section did not seem to mind..haha.

and i'm glad that i too have made it worth every single cent spent :D

Coldplay set a new record at Acer Arena

Coldplay’s four-date run at Sydney’s Acer Arena has seen it set a new attendance record at the venue. It is for the highest number of concert tickets sold for an act performing over multiple nights, moving a total of 58,943 tickets. The record of 57, 788 previously belonged to Justin Timberlake from his November 2007 tour.

Others on the Acer Arena list are Eagles (51,501), Red Hot Chili Peppers (45,329), Bette Midler (44,622) and Neil Diamond (43,780).

Acer Arena General Manager, David Humphreys said “Coldplay has taken the arena to yet another level with this result. I know firsthand that we have had very happy customers over the last couple of nights. Coldplay really do deliver a fantastic concert experience”.

Michael Chugg from Chugg Entertainment added, “We are thrilled with this news but not surprised. They are one of the greatest bands in the world today. People have been e-mailing me and texting with the most glorious comments, it’s just fantastic”.

Coldplay played their last Australian show of this tour last Sunday (15th March) at Acer Arena before continuing onto to New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi.

I am trying to make a complete video of the whole concert. I am gathering ANY video clips, and then am going to try to find a complete audio, to put to it.... (I'm actually an enthusiast filmmaker as well, with 5 years editing experience under my belt, so it shouldn't be too hard. :P)

i got nearly the whole gig on 12/3/09 [just missed 4 songs], they were probably wearing the same gear and the setlist was nearly the same, go to youtube>>
