COLDPLAY have announced a third Melbourne concert - before the first two have even gone on sale.

The British band will now perform at Rod Laver Arena on March 3, 4 and 5 next year.

All tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow from Ticketek, priced between $120 and $140.

Promoter Michael Chugg said seeing the intense demand from an early pre-sale of selected tickets prompted the multiple shows.

"We decided that we needed to add these extra shows now so that the fans know there will be tickets available for them tomorrow," Chugg said.

This'll be my first trip to Rod Laver, what's it like as a venue, pretty good viewing all round? The Adelaide Ent Centre can be a ratshit in the seated area's due to the corporate boxes that are beneath them, I'm hoping laver will be better.

givelovesolong

Got my tickets -- gold standing, too! Super, super happy. Got tickets to all three shows.

I love Rod Laver, and being fairly small in size, I would say it's good viewing all 'round. Back in 2006, I was literally in the last row, right up the top for Coldplay, and the view was still pretty fantastic.

I'm going - so excited!!! It will be a dream come true to see these guys. !GOLD STANDING! - see you there on the night! (I will be the noisy one jumping up and down singing every word to every song).

yayyyy....so glad CP are coming to oz. i have tix for this show for my whole family....there is 5 of us....we can't wait! our seats are in the lower section.

been to Rod Laver several times for concerts and it's a great venue. we had lower section for CP in 2006 and the view (and the concert) was great.

givelovesolong
22-12-2008, 11:57 AM
That's great, foreverdizzy. Are you all fans?

Glad to hear that the view from the lower section is great -- not that I really doubted it. Rod Laver is a great little venue.

That's so great for you and your family, foreverdizzy. Are you all fans?

So glad to hear that the view from the Lower Section is great (though, I didn't doubt it!). And I agree, Rod Laver is a great little venue! ;)

yes we all love CP!

there is no way i could have gotten tix for only a couple of us w/o someone being extremely disappointed....so, we're all going. :D

i'm just hoping the crowd will be into it on the night...last time we saw them in 2006, Chris had to stop and encourage everyone to get up on their feet. :stunned:
i was really glad he did that b/c when they came out at first, i naturally stood up only to be told to sit down!:shocked2::veryangry2:
needless to say after he did that, i felt rather smug when i looked at the peeps that had told me to sit down in the first place. ;)

hopefully that doesn't happen this time.

we all can't wait! :)

givelovesolong
02-01-2009, 03:41 AM
Yeah, I remember that. I can't stand it when people ask that you sit down, especially if you're seeing your favourite band. You've paid to be there, too -- I think that entitles you to the right to watch the show however you'd want. Be that sitting, standing or jumping around.

Feeling pretty certain this will be a pretty great one.

People - leave me a message either today or by tommorow 6:30pm about interest because I have to pitch this idea to the parental unit. I'll go ahead if we get three other people, at the moment I only have one interested. I can hold it on any date since I'm off school at the moment, but I'm looking more at 1st March or 8/9th March. I can do Saturdays, I can do Fridays, whatever. With your message please tell me what days/times would be most convenient for you and I'll try and sort something out.

Can't help but notice that this show is tonight...ie right now. Aren't we all excited on the prospect of new songs possibly being played? Or at least Glass of Water becoming a regular?
Or is it just me...

tauiwi
05-03-2009, 11:32 AM
Yeah, GOW was in the setlists a while back, it's good to hear it again. I would have thought 'Rainy Day' was more appropriate for the setlist last night and also tonight!!

crestingwaves
05-03-2009, 12:11 PM
Yer I remember when they tested GOW with Hammond Jnr.
But possibly this is a chance for it to be more permanent in the setlist, since it is after the release of the EP. But yer...Prospekt's March is probably more likely live - the strings might be a problem with Rainy Day.

tauiwi
05-03-2009, 12:35 PM
A worthy addition? A string section? They could use it for VLV.. also, wasnt Yes in the setlist earlier on? Surely they got by without having a string section for that

tauiwi
05-03-2009, 12:49 PM
Well, that's it Melbourne! By now they would have finished the last show and its PARTY PARTY PARTY

So, yeah. That was just amazing.

I don't have time to write a complete review because I really have to get to bed. I'll say that I definitely enjoyed myself more tonight than last night (considering I had no grumpy shit behind me telling me to sit down). GA, all the way.

Setlist was the same as last night, except that "Green Eyes" was switched out for "I'm A Believer". Which means that, yep -- "Glass Of Water" was played again instead of "Chinese Sleep Chant". Pictures/videos/reviews to come over the long weekend. I swear I got the best picture of Guy, and a nice one of Jonny's backside...

I waited after the show to see if I could meet them but they actually held Chris' party at Rod Laver Arena. Saw Shane Warne again as well as Molly Meldrum. Waited for quite a while and one of the tour guys took my setlist in to get signed by the guys because he said they wouldn't be out for hours. It got signed by Chris and Guy - my 2 favourites yay! I did see them walking past the windows a few times - guy talking with shane warne and chris running like crazy like a kid haha. Just before I left, Jonnie left in the tarago and then when I left guy was talking to shane warne again next to the car :)

Ok, so. ilovealias4ever already hath given you the setlist, so I don't need to do that. People in GA spotted Shane Warne being escorted to his seat. Also, I think I was right next to alias - or her lively copper-haired friend, at least. If she was wearing a light blue X&Y shirt and chatting to said friend about the roadies and setlist before the gig then yes for a large portion of the show I was next to her friend. Alias if that was you, I was the girl with straight brown hair and a black and gray striped V-neck shirt (don't think you would have seen the navy blue jeans but eh).

Show was great, I was about fourth row from the stage I think? On Guy's side. Probably. Support acts - I think Decoder Ring was okay, my sister thought they were a bit strange. Most of the crowd didn't really get what they were about, they were completely instrumental. Mecury Rev, well. If you're going to a show and thinking of skipping some supports, Mercury Rev are a DO NOT WANT. Their set went on for 45 minutes, tooooo long. Audience didn't like them either :P.

Soon enough JayZ and the Blue Danube started, everyone sort of sang and danced along to the Blue Danube, very funny? It was! Then the lights darkened and LiT began. I think a few people where I was freaked out realising how close they were :D. Nice big singalong for Violet Hill, same with Clocks and In My Place. And yes girls, the Ramp of Love was loving that night with Chris and Jonny playing around at the end on it.

Out came the balloons for Yellow, everyone had fun with those, great way to keep the crowd entertained because everyone loved them. Some guy near me had cheekily pulled out a pen and was popping them all though . Cemeteries next, pretty good damn performance of it, and Glass of Water. Only two others including myself knew the words (and I'm pretty sure that was ilovealias4ever and co). Everyone was dancing along to 42 by the middle section of the song. Fix You was a massive singalong like Yellow. Strawberry Swing everyone clapped the beat to at the start. Chris mentioned that it was written in Melbourne too :D

Then everyone noticed the boys were moving down Guy's runway. There they played GPASUYF and Talk. After those two Jonny, Guy and Will moved back up the runway while Chris stayed and started blabbering on about his birthday in Melbourne, everyone started singing Happy Birthday to him and he was so embarrassed  It was very sweet. Then he went on about a musical they were going to make about some cricketer or something, can't remember the name, but "the fucking bastards stole our idea!" Thus he introduced The Hardest Part as one of the songs left over from the musical. Very lovely performance of it  Chrislovers, be jealous as I had a prime view of his back and all while he was performing it. Hah. After that was Postcards From Far Away, turned around, Jonny was playing a little piece to it but everyone was facing Chris. I think Jonny spotted me and I gave him a smile, heeee.

Next up, Viva La Vida. Crowd went nuts. Great great great performance of it. Then Lost! got a play. Afterwards, the boys disappeared off the stage and then reappeared in the crowd :D. Acoustics were Speed of Sound, I'm A Believer (which everyone clapped and sang along to, although it had a false start with Chris' shoddy keyboard not working when they started the song ) and Death Will Never Conquer. Chris asked everyone to get their mobiles out at the end of DWNC and the Viva remix played. Be sure to look around when everyone's doing this, it's amaz-ing.

Politik came on, everyone bounced along to it. Lovers in Japan, everyone went nuts with the confetti . I got some along with Yellow confetti by the waye (even got a neon green one but lost a neon orange one, booo). Next was DAAHF... last song, I thought! Noo! But ALAS! The people wanted an encore. And an encore they got.

Chris bounded back on stage and The Scientist was played, full band, non-acoustic. Then Life in Technicolor. Unfortunately I realised I couldn't sing the start of it, and then midway through the song desperately needed a) water, b) air. This was a problem because I was in standing and security had actually confiscated one of our bottles of water, so we were forced to conserve the other one. Anyway had a sip of water, but then felt a bit sick as the boys were taking their final bow. Over to the ramp I go and was sick. Three times. Thank god the boys weren't on stage or Chris would have needed personal assurance I was going to be fine . Not nice. Few people asked if I was going to be okay, said I was, just stayed there for a bit drinking the water and getting fresh air. The fustrating thing I think about now is, if my bottle of water hadn't been obscured in my bag I could have been sick a lot earlier or a lot worse. Thanks a lot, security, your money-grabbing ways of getting us to buy your ridiculously over-priced drinks forced me to be sick. Congrats, morons. Have fun when the parents of several overly-dehydrated teeny-boppers get on your ass.

That's about all... was great though. Two meters from stage, perhaps less. Jonny was cute and shy with his hat on as usual, Will was banging away on the drums although I didn't really see him what with Chris' piano in the way. Berrygirls, I will admit Guy was quite attractive :P although my eyes were not averted from Chris. Bright blue eyes, pretty curls and a v. nice smile :D. He looked straight at me at one point, to which I responded with a smile, although I admit I was wearing a lowish-cut V-neck shirt so uh :uhoh: lol! But he was joking about during the night, you could tell he was very excited and happy to be on stage :nice:

Warning for merch fans, posters are $10, keychains $20 (you heard me right), shirts are $50 as well as the green hat and a hoodie is $120. Didn't find out how much programmes were, perhaps I should have got one but oh well.

All in all fun night for all :D (except Mercury Rev. My sister wanted to rather comically commit suicide from "torture by music". DO NOT WANT!)

Ooh and photos and videos to come, my sister took them all so yah. She got ones of Chris and Guy mainly, none of Will because he was out of our sight. She might have gotten one of Jonny, not sure.

Weeee great, thorough review :D

Can't believe you got sick though :( Stupid security.

Ungh agree Mercury Rev were a disaster, the lead singer acted like a b-grade sopie actor and the all that came to mind when watching the guitarist was a hot potatoe with irritable bowel issues.

That was on the 3rd mind you......sorry to hear about your vomitus, at least it happened at the end and not half way through.

Also, that reminds me! Chris changed a line in Violet Hill to "If you're Victorian, won't you let me know" which gained audience screams. He also at one point start singing "You're the voice try and understand it" and dancing around, which earned him a singalong back.

Oh and Chris looked at me :wacky: baha, take that Chris lovers :P

Cobalt, what an awesome review! Seems like there was a bit more crowd interaction than the 2nd show which I saw... we got a bit of dialogue, but I can't believe you guys got to sing happy birthday, that would have been so much fun!

So did anyone actually buy any merch? I wanted to get a poster but they sold out, and so I got a 42 shirt cos I liked the colour and design.

And shit for getting sick!! Its crazy, and sad. I'm just surprised you weren't sick when the lead singer of Mercury rev started singing, cos thats when my eardrums started to bleed with PAIN!!! :P

Yer, I saw the concert on the night of the 3rd, I've already mentioned this elsewhere. But the next morning, I saw Jonny with his wife and baby go for a walk, just leaving the hotel. Naww.

ps. I got the setlist on the 3rd, and Speed of Sound was a possible Til Kingdom Come and Green Eyes was meant to be I'm A Believer. Wish I saw Glass of Water though!

Ah ok. Now this is the ultimate question.
We arrived at 10:30am - some a few hours earlier than that (we were 3rd or 4th there) and waited all day. However, some people who rocked up at 5 or 6pm made it to the front row.
So we toiled out in the wind and heat just to get our front row taken by some punkass kids who didn't even know the name of AROBTTH and said he only liked a couple of their songs. You try and figure out the justice in all that.
Hopefully Sydney's way of doing things is a little bit more organised than Melbourne. I'd say get there around 12-1, you'll still get front (if you're lucky).

If I didn't know what was happening to me was a reaction to severe dehydration, I would blame Mecury Rev. DO NOT WANT.

Personally me and my sister got there shortly after the gates opened. We were lined up for an hour inside before we were let in, so it's just a matter of quickly getting wristbanded and making it to a door with a short line. :D

Some classy girls pushed in behind us instead of joining the back of the line (which was fairly long) and were just annoying with their chattering behind us. "Oh haha and they went all the way to the back of the line!" Yeah, like you were SUPPOSED to. :shame:

A very belated short review from the third and final Melbourne concert. This is my first ever Coldplay concert and easily the biggest i've seen. I'm nothing short of being blown away. There were so many highlights, I can't name them all because i'll basically be writing a transcript of the concert. But I was taken by surprise by their encore acoustic performance on the stairs close to where I was sitting. I also loved the trancy rendition of Talk and Viva La Vida was perfect!

Another thing I have to say about this band is that i'm convinced they're not motivated by the money, it really is about the music. I say this because out of all the concerts I have been to, I really feel as though I got my money's worth. Given the size of the production, sound and the fact that it's Coldplay, I can't believe I only paid $280.00 for 2 tickets - honestly. Consider this: I went to see Crowded House last year at the Forum, an intimate Gothic Theatre in the city. Each ticket was around $90.00 and the show was very straight forward: band, music and basic light show. I loved it!

I'm a huge Neil Finn fan so I was naturally euphoric by the end of it, but with Coldplay, for only $50.00 more, the size and premise of the show was expanded 10 fold. What i loved about the concert is that there was always something to look at. At any concert, no matter how good the music is, it can get boring just looking in the one direction at the musicians doing their thing, as time goes by, your eyes wander around the venue while taking in the music. At Coldplay, my eyes were the busiest they've been. If I wasn't awestruck by the eccentric Chris Martin, I was looking at the screen or the spheres hanging from the ceiling or the confetti showering over the venue.

Then there's the merchandise, it's the cheapest its been. The program, being only $25.00 is the largest and most colourful i've purchased from a show. Chris Martin said during the show that he had 12,000 special guests, I walked away that night feeling like one of them. I'm convinced that for Coldplay it's more than money and marketing, they have passion and there's no letting up. It wil be a while before i'm this swept off my feet.

THANKS COLDPLAY!

Can we do this again same time next year?

Ok, so. ilovealias4ever already hath given you the setlist, so I don't need to do that.

Yep, that was me, Cobalt. I don't recall seeing anyone in a black/grey V-neck, but I'm disappointed I didn't get to put a face to a name -- and also slightly embarrassed because I didn't put any effort into my appearance at all for GA, or the last night in general because I was just so damn exhausted...

I wish you'd introduced yourself, even if it is a little strange and intimidating to go up to someone you don't really know. Cool that we ended up right next to each other, though. Good on us for knowing all the lyrics! You've summed up the gig awesomely. Crowd was easily better than the first two nights, for me -- singing, standing, phones out for the Viva remix. Just so much more energy. Actually, that could possibly be attributed to the fact that it was the mosh pit. I think generally it holds a better/different atmosphere.

Pretty sure I got a look from Jonny -- I smiled at him. So cute!

I have a video of it I can post in a week (my internet just crapped out, and because it's Optus, you know what that means - no fees but I just get throttled to painfully slow speeds)

lol it was rather randomly placed wasn't it? I actually think it was a quote of a quote!

Let me know once you've posted the video, i've love to see it again. Makes we wish I had actually brought a camera now. A lot of concerts that i've been to get a bit particular about taking photos in a stadium so I try to avoid it.

Hah. Yeah, that was a little oddly placed...

I have a video I can upload of the phones -- I'll do it ASAP. Not too sure how good the quality will be, but pfftt... too terrific too ruin.

YouTube - COLDPLAY; Viva Remix (Phones) -- March 5th, 2009: Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

Pretty shaky, and short.

Hey all,

I was at this concert, and have a few videos from the top left hand side of the arena... I would like to post them, but am still working out how. Coldplay were amazing, the most enjoyable concert I've been to. I thought the supporting acts would have been more enjoyable if the stadium was smaller, especially Decoder Ring. The screens they used were minute in comparison to the whole arena... I was heaps impressed that Coldplay managed to make their show feel so intimate.

What did other people think of the support acts??

Now for REREVIEW.

Part 1

Saturday the 22nd of November, 2008. The news I had been waiting for all year since the arrival of the album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends had arrived on coldplay.com.

My favourite band, Coldplay, announced their tour for Australia that morning. It included three dates for my lovely city of Melbourne: March the 3rd, 4th and 5th.

I was ecstatic. My best friend and I had promised each other we would both go to our favourite bands' concerts, mine being Coldplay, hers being Green Day. Unfortunately, I got a call a few days later... she wasn't going to be able to make it!

What was I going to do? I asked around. In the end I was forced to drag my non-Coldplay fan sister along to use up the second ticket. My dad would pay for the tickets, drop us off at Rod Laver Arena (the venue) and pick us up once the show was over. I wasn't allowed to go by myself at 15. I wasn't too pleased, but happy to be going anyway.

The tickets went on sale at 9am on the 4th of December. I had my fingers crossed hoping that the powers that be were with me that day and we got the tickets. A phone call from my dad a while later confirmed - score! We had gotten a pair of General Admission tickets. The tickets arrived, and on Christmas Day I was finally allowed to see them. I ripped open the envelope expecting my Christmas card and opened it, only to have a ticket fall on my lap. A smile spread across my face as I read it. Coldplay, 5th of March, Rod Laver Arena... a fan's giddiness and glee occupied me for many days. The day of the concert couldn't come fast enough.

But it did, and soon the 5th of March was upon me. It was concert time. Off we went! My sister and I were dropped off at the arena at around the time the gates were opened. We were able to walk straight in. We walked around, looking for our gate. After getting our tickets swapped for the General Admission wristbands, we waited for the doors to open.

Eventually, they did, and we raced our way through the doors and down the stairs without aggravating security, whom were trying to get people to remain calm and walk. After finding our spot, I looked around and noticed something surprising. We were fourth row! I didn't expect that at all!

After a period of time with more waiting, the first support act came on - Decoder Ring. I thought they were quite good, my sister thought they were weird. The second support act, Mercury Rev, didn't go down quite well with the audience. Their set was soon over and roadies set up the stage as music played. I overheard a girl near me chatting avidly about things that one could only be avidly chatting about if they frequently visited the fansite I was a part of, Coldplaying.com. I wondered if she was the other user that had been going that night, but was too shy to pick up a line and chat.

I suddenly stood a lot straighter when I heard a particular song - JayZ's 99 Problems. I knew, from American concerts I had read about on Coldplaying, that 99 Problems and The Blue Danube were the last two songs played before the band came on. My excitement rose as everyone danced and clapped along to the last piece. Then, as it ended, the lights went down and a mighty roar came from the crowd around me. It was time. The sound of the start of the first song, Life in Technicolor, began.

I could see four sparklers through the slightly opaque curtain in front of me and the shapes of the four men holding them. They started wandering to their places, and one in particular stepped forward. The silhouetted singer Chris Martin raised his sparkler to a loud cheer from the audience and many camera flashes. I and many of the crowd did not expect to see the band this close, but we were. Everyone danced along to the opener and a cheer followed. The concert had begun.

"It was a long and dark december, from the rooftops I remember there was snow, white snow." The second-most successful single from the album, Violet Hill, played. Australians love rock and this song is no exception with a great singalong, the crowd knowing every word. Next up was one of my most loved songs by the boys (my affectionate term for them), Clocks. The lights were incredible! Blue and green lasers with the rest lighted red. Nothing else compared to it.

Clocks turned into In My Place, a song famous on the Coldplaying community's fangirls for the "Ramp of Love" - the left ramp from the stage which Jonny Buckland, the band's guitarist walks down, and Chris bounds down after him. None the less this occurs towards the end of the song.

Then, it's Coldplay's most well-known song that shot them to stardom - Yellow. The stage lights take on the song title's color and the crowd goes wild. Giant yellow balloons are dropped seemingly from nowhere and fall onto the mass of people, light showing that there's confetti inside. The balloons are bounced around in the audience and onto the stage, making for a magnificent sight. One cheeky fellow near me had pulled out a pen and was attempting to pop as many as he could. I caught some yellow confetti and stuffed it in the handbag I had with me, for a memento of this wonderful singalong and highlight of the evening.

A less well-known song was next, Cemeteries of London, one of my favourites from the new album. The lights turn a rich dark blue, green lasers fly and orbs displaying colorful images drop from the ceiling. Everyone claps along to the beat. The song played after Cemeteries was new to everyone else, but I knew it, and looking to my left, that girl I thought was from Coldplaying knew it too - Glass of Water, from their EP released just four months prior to the gig, Prospekt's March. I know every word and sing and dance along to another of my more beloved tracks. "Live your whole life living... in the past. Going nowhere fast!"

Glass of Water ends and the lighting darkens, except from a spotlight on Chris playing the piano and images of him playing on the screen behind him. The song 42 begins. The second part of the song begins, and piano becomes guitars and rock. The crowd dance along with orange and white lights, the song clearly going down a treat. Lyrics are sung about the supernatural and Chris returns to his piano to finish the last part of the song.

The organ sounding chords of Fix You begin and everyone cheers. Fix You is a special song for many, interpreted in many ways - some for the deceased, some for relatives, others for friends and others for lovers, and it's met with great reception. This is probably the only live performance I've gotten teary at. After the last chorus, Chris swings the microphone to the audience to sing the last lines. He starts to join in, but instead smiles and encourages the audience, afterwards indicating everyone's singing was ace.

Strawberry Swing is the next song. It's groovy and has people clapping and dancing along to themes of an idyllic sunny day spent with someone special. The lights turn a purplish-pink and the lights slowly swing to lower one side and then the other. When finished, Chris notes that the song was written in Melbourne and the crowd cheers.

The boys move down the right-sided ramp onto a lit-up stage nearby. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, a track from the band's acclaimed second album A Rush Of Blood To The Head, is played here, but not in its normal format - it's an 80's techno version that has people clapping along to the bass drum. The song skillfully flows into a techno version of Talk, although I would have honestly perferred it played as it is on the album as I adore the full piece to pieces. I'm just glad it gets played though so I can sing along to some of my favourite Martin lyrics. "I've been trying hard to reach you but I don't know what to do, and I want to talk to you..." An underrated song with a riff from the genius Kraftwerk.

Following these two songs, bassist Guy Berryman, drummer Will Champion and Jonny seem to disappear from the little stage. Chris announced he enjoyed his birthday here in Melbourne, and shifts around in embarassment when his audience sings Happy Birthday to him, much to everyone's amusement. He explained that English people get quite embarassed at those sort of things, but I blame it on him just being Chris.

He then played a short piano piece titled Postcards From Far Away. I noticed it wasn't just him playing - turned around - Jonny was playing along on his guitar too, his work complimenting Chris'. Chris moved back to the main stage and then began the biggest singalong of the night.

Viva La Vida was Coldplay's hit single of 2008. Everyone knew this song. It was performed at the Grammys and it was performed here. It never fails to get a huge crowd reacting it seems and March the 5th was certainly no exception. Many were on their feet and bouncing along to a song speaking of a king fallen from grace. An excellent performance, the crowd refused at the end to give up their singing of one of the song's most pivotal points: 'whoaa-ohh, whoaa-oh'. Lost! was played next. People sang along and others were suprised by the booming beat of the song. Chris bounded about from one side of the stage to the next, down one ramp and up another, making sure none were forgotten.

After this, the boys seemed to disappear. After a moment of confusion, looking around and chants of 'Coldplay!', they reappeared on a stage near the back of the arena - commonly referred to as the nosebleed section. Picking up their acoustic instruments, they played their 2005 hit song Speed of Sound, a cover of The Monkee's I'm A Believer and a song sung by drummer Will called Death Will Never Conquer (all three met with good reception). Chris then urged everyone to take out their cell phones for a remix of Viva La Vida.

Everyone did. The view was stunning - hundreds and thousands of lights moving and bouncing around inside the dark arena. I unfortunately couldn't find mine in the deep mysterious depths of my handbag, but if you can't join in, enjoy the scenery. It's a highlight.

Thumping chords were played and the strong rhythm of the encore and the song Politik began. Politik, the opening track of A Rush Of Blood To The Head, is my favourite song played live and a great opportunity for some moshing. After Politik was Lovers In Japan. Romantic images filled the back screen and confetti butterflies streamed out onto everyone. I tried to grab some, knowing that they would be a memorable souvenir to have. At first they were crepe-paper butterflies and then they were neon-colored. Everyone was in awe of so many of them falling through the air and onto their heads. It was a simpler set up for what was seemingly the last song, Death And All His Friends, and the band bowed and left the stage.

But not for long! The people's faithful chants had earned them an encore, beginning with The Scientist, a rather haunting song, slow and enchanting. The lights darkened for Life in Technicolor ii, and another chant of the famed 'whoahh, whoahh'. The back screen lit up with a painting of the word 'viva' and The Escapist played, my favourite off the newest album. The boys took their final bow, everyone clapping and cheering. I was sad that it was their last song but all good things must come to an end. They left the stage and it was done.

Many things happened because of that night. I learned to get more drinks in me and not eat salty food beforehand to avoid dehydration (I fell quite sick from it afterwards). My suspicions that the other girl was a fellow Coldplaying member was correct and confirmed online - next time I'll have a chat. My sister became a fan and loved the gig, go Coldplay! My dad asked me if it was worth getting sick afterwards. I responded, grinning:

"Yeah, definitely."

But I was still excited. It wasn't over... not just yet!

Skittles!
