Random.
The intro bit before it kicks in sounded like something someone from that whole crowd might do, in fact I always end up wishing more of the song was like that. But not Radiohead.

I hate these comparisons to U2 and Radiohead! To me Coldplay is their own and really don't sound like u2 or Radiohead. And I am not accusing winigwl of saying that either. I love the song rainy day its great. & don't get me wrong I love Radiohead, but they don't sound that similar.

The first part sounds vaguely similar to 15 Step I guess, but the rest of it doesn't really bare any similarity with radiohead at all.

i don't hear much Radiohead in this at all... maybe they were just talking about the guitar... sounds a bit wandering like Radiohead usually does. But i don't hear it :/

I gave up on Radiohead in 1997 after a very disappointing set at Glastonbury (yes I'm old!!) but all Rainy Day reminds me of is The Beatles.

anytime Coldplay does something even remotely experimental they're either copying U2 or Radiohead. These people need to actually listen to the songs. Sounds nothing like a Radiohead song.

^ I agree. If they go mainstream they're U2, if they do something different, they're Radiohead. The people making these comparisons really need to realize there are more than three bands in the world.
In one sense it's flattering, but for the most part it's just annoying and ignorant for people to generalize and broad-stroke Coldplay's music like that.
