They cover the pitch...mainly because at the end of the day ..it's a football stadium and they can't have the pitch in a mess and runied after every gig there is. LOL
by the way, also around the pitch a sort of water fountains for drinking water...so no worry you won't need to buy water. Otherwise I saw at the TT gigs that people brought their own food (sandwiches, crisps etc.). If you buy in the stadium anything to eat prepare for paying a small fortune.
I might know more after next weekend....going to see both U2 shows and planning to kind of queue for one of them from around midday.

Thanks for the info:D
(sorry if I sound worried about standing in the mud, I'm traumatized from APW. It was a muddy HELL...)
and so glad we've got some coldpayers going to see U2 at Wembley...we'll get more info to be prepared for the Coldplay gigs...you gotta do investigative reporting for us:wink:

I agree with Cooky, worldtrav - investigate for us please!!
And have fun at the concerts... I would have loved to see Elbow :bigcry:

ya know it was gross , disgusting and repulsive but the skyline of NYC was stunning and it was a beatiful night and what an amazing view of the 4 most handsome men in the world (next to hubby) and the music, what can i say, we were blessed beyond belief. Landfills and rain do not mix.

can't the seller send it via urgent mail? it should take less than a week to arrive i guess.
(when i reveiced or sent something that way it took less than 2 days to arrive, it was just from an European country to another).

Sounds pretty risky to me unless you buy them far enough in advance that they have guaranteed time to reach you before you leave AND THE SELLER ALREADY HAS THEM IN HAND.
Either that or get them sent to a friend who lives in the UK.
And, there is no such thing as a 'pit' in Britain - you want to buy GA (general admission tickets).

@bear: i think for you the most expensive thing about wembley is the flights and maybe the accommodation. but even if you lived in the uk i'd probably recommend to buy the tickets on location. there'll be a lot of people selling tickets. and at least in germany it's usually the case that tickets for big stadium gigs get cheaper the nearer the event comes. i suppose buying tickets at the stadium shouldn't be too risky. you won't have to pay a multiple of the actual price.

but i think if we do go, my moms gonna want to make sure we have the tickets on hand when we get to the venue. so we'd probably just send them to her friend.

What is the ticket selling/scalping situation like at a concert at Wembley? I have two tickets for Sept. 19 but may be looking to trade or upgrade. Not sure if that is common or permissible there.

IIRC from last year's Foo Fighters show it was £8 for a burger/chips & drink, the FA went over-budget when building the stadium, hence try and screw fans at every point to get the money back
Ummm speaking of getting wet...how nasty would the field(pitch)get??? I just went through All Points West...I'm ready for anything....but do I really need to pack my wellies?(rain boots)
The tuft will prob be covered in plastic sheeting, so it won't be that bad :)

If they be GA tickets then you might get lucky and come across a tout, if they are seated tickets the touts might not want to touch them.

Royal mail recorded delivery IIRC.
I think the secure mail company is called SMS (secure-mail-services)?
i have some random questions that have probably been asked before.

whats the best/safest way to get to and from the venue?
are a lot of people staying to try and meet the band after?
how early is everyone going to try and line up?

Oh nice, then you will know about the organizations and you can report it to us then :P At least I have been concerned about everything, so I'm glad if we could hear something about the organizations beforehand  Have fun at the shows!
Black Rose
12-08-2009, 08:33 PM
The organization is pretty simple, you get given an entrance letter (from A to P) which is where you have to enter the stadium, pass the security guys who scan your barcodes & rips the ticket stub off and pass the security checking bags and follow the route towards the pitch.
marianatsl
13-08-2009, 12:35 AM
Ah, I was also wondering how the 'getting in' part would go through. at some point we should try to organize with the people that are going (and want to queue together) which entrance everyone has, so that they can meet up and stuff.
you think that's a good idea at all??
PS: sent the money today to pay for my ticket!! yeeeeeeey!!!:dance:

According to seetickets, they are to be dispatched from the 29th august- through- 12th September, thus i think we ill be limited for time to arrange meet-ups and so on,
but once we all know our entry points, then it will give us a better idea all round on when and who is queing up.

There are toilets, cash point and food stands outside!
Plus nearby is a place to buy a bed, plus a largish Asda within walking distance :)
There are entranced labelled A though to P, each has about 10 turn-stalls operated by an automatic machine, where you insert the ticket bar-code in first, the green light flashes and you can enter the stadium onto the security teams.
The only beer on sale is carlsbrough for £4 per bottle (poured into a cup), I couldn't see other alcohol for sale, soft-drinks are a rip-off also (£2 for a bottle of water, £3.00 for a cup of syrup & soda water), hot food meal-deals range in price from £7 to £9 (item, chips & soft-drink).
any other questions?

I'm sure they will allow in glow-sticks, just hide them in your pockets. Or do as I did today with a bag on the back with a small bottle of water, they didn't check the bag just got me to pour the water into a plastic cup :)

Depending on whatever network your on, but O2 has a perfect reception around Wembley, although you get the case of a slow network (SMSs take a while to get though). As for cameras, for the 2 U2 shows they didn't check.
------------
Some random comments about my trips this weekend, baring in mind this is for U2, Coldplay might be different.
- Car Parking, for a venue which states on the tickets "use public transport, there is no car parking!" there was quite a lot of car parking, both official (next to the stadium) and unofficial (companies making a fast buck allowing concert goers to park on their property), prices ranging from £10 to £25 per car (so it ain't that cheap, plus you get the horrible fun of getting out of wembley post-show)
-The roof, Friday's show the roof was closed, but the Saturday's show the roof was open allowing full viewage of the arch
-General Admission Standing tickets go though gates F & C, and they get the people to line up on the ramps away from the main outside part of the stadium, and use barriers when the gates open, so no cheeky bastards can jump the queue. It's windy outside the stadium.
-Some Food & Drink places do take credit/debit cards, however if they charge extra I do not know
-Cash Points - There are a couple free-cash points around the stadium, no cash-points on level 5.
-If you go walkies to the bar/toilet/food take your ticket, if you have no ticket to show the security when trying to get back into the main part of the stadium, they won't allow you to pass
-For U2, level 1 seating were reserved (doubt this will be the case for coldplay)
-Your own food appears to be allowed inside the stadium
-Drinks, soft-drinks & water, they get you to pour it into plastic cups on entrance to the stadium, unless you can hide the bottles
-Cameras, on both days nobody checked for cameras
-I hate annoying girls whom chat throughout the support acts, shut up will ya, the latest gossip can wait until later.
-I also hate the annoying people who drink the £4 lager like it is water, and hence push past you every 5 minutes to get to the bar
-I also dislike the idiots who stop dead in the middle of the corridor for no reason whatsoever.
-Plus it's windy inside the stadium.
Any other questions?

should be fine. at Take That concerts there are guys wandering outside selling glowsticks, glowing rabbit ears, pink cowboy hats & who knows what else.

don't think so, but must be imminent because the tickets for the 12/9 arrived in the post last week.
the tickets for the 12th are very nice card tickets, not the usual plain ones, but with Coldplay images.

That's good - still annoyed that U2 didn't manage to get proper souvinor tickets designed for £62.00 per ticket.
I actually queued on Friday from around 1 pm and was at the outer ring 5th row.
Have to say the whole organisation in wembley was brilliant!!!!

I was ok as I am quite tall anyway. but from the main stage we were quite a bit away.
I actually enjoyed the show yesterday more and I was standing quite far back in front of the sound booth but I think the U2 show is actually better to watch it from further away otherwise you don't really see the whole stage and lighting.

I would imagine they would be actual tickets if coldplay are going to use the electronic automatic ticket reader machines :)
Which are good, because e-tickets don't look the same

WOW, lets start the hype for the possible set list, right here, right now!
For herning, Speed of Sound was back!!! that is amazing for me, love that song (well played live its great!)
And Will did til kingdom come too!!, ide personally love to see that!
Also they kept green eyes and billie jean, a pretty big acoustic section or two in there!
Apparently they moved around a lot, like onto stages in the crowd wich they do in the arena shows, but how it will be done at wembley i dunno!!
I really just cant wait now!!!

Yeah! Shiver, Spies, Sparks, White Shadows and Prospekt's March would be fantastic! I would love to hear Swallowed in the Sea too! It always makes me so emotional! :smug2: And hopefully we will get to hear the fantastic Til Kingdom Come too:smug:
I hope they do something extra for us this night since it's the end of their tour and also they should play for a while since they have as many as three supports... I could stay there for like the whole night if I had to! Imagine a whole night with our guys:D

Thaaaank you very much! You are lovely!!!! I should have done it by myself...sorry.
Have you already bought tickets? You mean whether you should stand or sit at your seating place?
Yeah i have Level 2 tickets seated, block 211 i think it is, but me and the other half are considering swapping these for some standing ones so we can stand
We have issues over toilet breaks and drink breaks etc because once your at the front its going to be very very difficult to move im guessing?
I wonder if the wembley set up will be different to the rest of the tour, Some bands have a big massive production just for wembley because of how big it is

Yeh, it will be soo difficult to get moved.
I am definately gonna get to the front (i know every1 else says, hopes, and thinks they will too!!!)
But im scared, i mean if White Lies do just 30 mins, and maybe GA and Jay-Z do bout 45 each (and thats being conservative), with the delays of getting people in, the time taken between acts, and the fact that the doors are at 4pm, not the show starting, plus the extraordinarilly long coldplay shows (extended for the stadium ones), i thinks its gonna be an extremely long time to go without food, drink, and bladder emptying!!!!!!!!!!!!
Im sure though if theres a group of you that they will save your place and people around you should respect that

I wonder though, im still new to coldplaying, and i feel a little shy, but maybe me and my cousin, could queue up with others???,... perhaps?, and even exchange mobile numbers too keep contact like be4 the first party arrives, and keep each others place in the que and in the showw!!

Don't know if anyone has posted this from The Oracle today...
August 21, 2009 - submitted by Tom, United Kingdom
Q. Are there camping arrangements at Wembley for those of us that want to camp out before the gig to get nearer the front? And will there be a golden circle with wristbands? Thank-you
The Oracle replies:
Not really no. It has been known for music fans to turn up well in advance spending the night in sleeping bags outside the venue; the atmosphere tends to be great. However, it will be very cold if you plan to be there in the wee hours. I wouldn't recommend anyone doing this alone or without telling others where you are. You must think safety first and so if anyone under adult age is thinking of doing this, get your parents' permission.
I've never known there not to be a golden circle set-up at Wembley.
For those that don't know, the golden circle is the area that the first come, first served fans get to stand in. They're issued with a wristband so they can leave and re-gain entry making life easier for loo and food stall visits.

I was at the Stockholm concert on saturday and there was a good (in my opinion) queing system where people got numbers and then you stay in that order in the que. If you didn't have a number you had to go to the back of the line..it was good and it was easy to leave the line to go to the toilet&get food and stuff. But there was no golden circle and I was number 359 in the line with my friend (number 360) and we got like maybe 5 meters from the stage. I think the numbers went until 400 and then you didn't get a number anymore, so in a sence we were the golden circle, except there was no area for the golden circle.. Well when we got to the field the security people told everyone to sit and so everyone sat at the field and it was easy to walk to the toilet, so I had to go to the toilet (it was about 5pm) and so I went and when I got back people had stood up and I just couldn't get through to my place!! I mean people would let me when I said my stuff is at the front (it was, my bag was with my friend, including my cell phone so I couldn't call her either!) but people were standing so tightly at that point that I just couldn't move (literally) in the crowd!! Some people sure were assholes and didn't let me through, but most were like "sure you can go if you can move.." And I couldn't!! So I ended up being like at the end of one of the long stage things (if youve seen what the stage is like, you know) so pretty far away!! And I had been there since the morning so I was really pissed!!
So no toilet breaks for me at wembley! (unless I'm in the golden circle..) and no one who was at the front (or even in the middle) couldn't go to get any water or food because they couldn't get back there! The security people were really nice tho and they had these water bottles with which you could like 'spray' the water into peoples mouth so the people who were next to the guards could get water, but I saw atleast 3 people pass out because of the pressure&no water&no food...So it was kinda crazy out there..I was so thirsty!! By the end of the concert I didn't have any voice left and I was starving and parched!! AND they didn't have any water bottles left at the food stands (only a few juice boxes thank god I got one of those) AND I didn't even get LRLRLbecause many people took so many of them!!
But so everyone would still feel a bit better after me freaking you out with my story..THE CONCERT WAS ALL WORTH IT!!!
AND WE GOT 2 FIREWORKS!! small one during Fix You and a very big one at the very end..
Tho after LITii the Escapist came on and went about halfway and then someone by accident pulled a plug out or something and the song just ended in the middle :D

Oh I know..I was so depress when I was standing there alone waiting for coldplay (couldn't enjoy white lies at all) but when CP came on I felt better already..And Chris came really close to me a few times! But I'm still veryvery depressed about it :( I know that I wont get that close to the stage at Wembley :\ But it's WEMBLEY you know, it doesn't matter so much if you don't get close...Atleast I still have Wembley to look forward to :)
26 DAYS PEOPLE! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :wink3:

Getting first row is overrated by the way. It only causes stress! Once I was waiting at a venue (for The Killers), I got there early and probably would have made first row. The only thing is they didn't open the door I was waiting for (there were like six big doors), so in all the confusion I managed to get no closer then tenth row
It's cool to be a at the front, but you can also go stand near the B-Stage or a little further away and still have a great experience, maybe even a better one.

So many people are worried about the drinks and toilet situation, that i am starting to get really scared about the whole day!!
I mean, i am not at all bothered by the lack toilet breaks at all, (i will be completely empty in every way possible upon entry, trust me). But my concern is with drinks, are the rules that we cant take drinks in??? if so , then why the hell not! -- Or are the rules that all bottled drinks (plastic included of course) are to be poured into "cups" on entry??? again if so, then why the hell!!!
Sorry but this pees me off, why cant we take bottled water in with us, i hope there is another explanation, but i think the general consenunsus is that wembley do this to sell more drinks in the show.
Which is a disgrace! and totally pointless as no-one wants to leave there spot to go and buy anyway.
Anyhoo, can someone please clear this up for me, would be great, and also does anybody know of any common medical occurances, i.e ilnesses or disorders or conditions, whcih require constant hydration, if so, tell mee pleeaaasssseee, and i will tell the security peopples that i have it and they must let me have the water!!!:):):) lets hope.
Thanks

Also I think that bottles can't be taken inside because people might throw them towards the artists, or atleast this is what I was told when I went to see Pet Shop Boys () at the 02 Arena this summer..That's why they took the cork off of the water bottle when I bought one.. :S
I need an illness too that I can lie about! :D

Does anyone have a spare ticket for the 18th? Ideally I would like to swap, as I have one for Saturday, but would also buy one at face value (+P&P).
Please PM / e-mail me, if you can help. Thanks!!

For both U2, unless you could hide the bottle well enough so they couldn't spot it, you had to pour the water into cups. It's some crap to do with safety and so they can rip you off and sell you expensive drinks.

Just bought ticket for Saturday. There are some extra tickets on sale for at least level 2. Its face value plus some charge. I found the link from the Coldplay page, so just www.gigsandtours.com.
The trouble is they do not deliver outside of UK. So box office colletion necessary. Called gigsandtours and they said box office is open from gate opening to start of main act. And you cannot collect the previous day. Is it always like this in Wembley (for example in U2)?
But if you're looking for tickets in UK, a good way to get tickets face value.
johkujii
25-08-2009, 05:17 PM
That's really late if they're only open from when the gates open! :stunned: I mean if we have different places where we have to queue..I think that would be just stupid.. SO everyone should go in from one same door atleast until the gates open..then they could open more doors
I thought it was so unfair that at stockholm there were three lines and no one almost knew about one of them, so one of the queues there were people who had spent nights there, on the second one (where I was) it was so friggin long and then there was a third more 'secret' queue..I was in the queue at 9am and I got like 6 meter away from the stage and some girl who was at the more 'secret' line came to the queue at 2pm and was FRONT ROW.. I think that was just unfair..but oh well I just hope that Wembley is more well organized..
marianatsl
25-08-2009, 05:32 PM
From what dave said, in Wembley the queue you're supposed to go is assigned on your ticket, so I don't think there will be 'secret queues'. It was the same in Sheffield, even though it was an Arena concert...
