Not at all. It's practical, small, cheap and you will still be yellow and show the t-shirt. :)

Doors open at 4pm (going from the booking email)
So going on past gigs I would guess:
White Lies on at 5pm for 30 minutes
Girls Aloud @ 6pm for 30 minutes
Jay-Z on at around 7:00 for 45 minutes
Coldplay on the stage around 8:30 for a 2 hour set, ending at around 10:30.

We might be queueing up together outside the venue, you could probably pop by and introduce yourself. You'll most likely be able to spot us easily by the yellow shirts we're wearing :D
Otherwise, we are thinking of having a picnic on the 20th. You can check out this (http://coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59159) thread for more details :nice:

Hey I was thinking about a couple of things last night and i need a few answers from some more experienced coldplay concert people! :)
so:
do they still sell stuff like shirts, posters etc after the concert? i mean if i want to keep my place as front as possible and can't go to buy stuff then can i buy it after the concert? :stunned:
and the other one was that d'you think there will be this area in front of the stage where they let the people who have been at wembley first and have a wristband to prove that? (i'm not sure if it's called a wrist band, but you probably get the point..) i've seen that in many concerts..
thank you already if someone has the answers ;)
PolarMonkey
08-07-2009, 01:36 PM
can't really answer your question about the wristbands & queueing cos i'm not an experienced concert goer.
but based on personal experience from the few concerts i've been to, in general, if you're talking about a popular band like Coldplay & a massive venue/turnout like Wembley's going to be, then you'd want to get your merchandise before the gig starts.
by the end of the gig, unless you wear the odd sizes or aren't fussed about what you're getting or are just plain lucky, you aren't likely to get what you want. :(

I think until 2 or 3 hours before they open the gates, you can get out of the queue to go do your business in a local bar nearby....People can keep your spot in the queue...
Once inside, it's more tricky. I guess since the show starts at 4 PM that there will be people on the move to get drinks and food until the evening. So maybe again, we can go the bathroom in the stadium and run back to our spot, but we'll have to face the crowd!!

No at Take That nobody was sitting behind the stage...and why should people sit there anyways, you don't see anything!
TT had there main stage, a walkway and a Bstage in the middle of the stadium connect with the walk way.
Coldplay's stage will be more or less the same as they have now - they only might extend the walkways on either side.
They won't come up with a new stage just for wembley!!!

When I read your question I had to think of this song:
YouTube - When the lights go down - Armand Van helden
"When the lights go down in your town,
and the band begins to play,
you can feel the energy coming
from the people as they say"
:)
I had a look at the US Naval Observatory (http://www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/data-services/rs-one-day-world/) and this is the result:

When I read your question I had to think of this song:
YouTube - When the lights go down - Armand Van helden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MM1MtbSth0)
"When the lights go down in your town,
and the band begins to play,
you can feel the energy coming
from the people as they say"
:)
I had a look at the US Naval Observatory (http://www.usno.navy.mil/USNO/astronomical-applications/data-services/rs-one-day-world/) and this is the result:

Hi,
I'm new to the forums but have been a Coldplay fan since I started getting into music (when I was about 8!). I'm finally going to see them live after having a great year seeing Keane, The Script etc this year... I have 2 questions. I am going on the 18th and I can't go much earlier than 2pm (because of school) but I'm in the standing area and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how roughly many people wil already be queuing. I guess quite alot of people won't even come before 5/6pm but I guess alot will come before so if I come at that time do you thinkI'll be at the back?
My second question is that as the concert is from about 4pm and Coldplay, considering there are 3 great support acts, will not be on till at least 8pm...ish what do I do if I nned the loo? I'm going with 2 other people and I don't know how I would find them again if I went to the llo then came back as Wembley has such a massive standing area! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

How far is Wembley Stadium from London? I would rather find a cheap hotel/motel outside of Wembley instead of London since London hotels are way off my price range. Besides i won't be staying indoors much, even if it rains, so no point in spending too much on a hotel.

IIRC for the standing area of Wembley, you will be given an entrance gate on the tickets, which I believe there are 4 off, so if your lucky you will get one close to the stage, if your unlucky you will get the gates at the back of the stadium.

I think both gates for the standing bit a quite a bit away from the stage which is most of the times at stadium gigs the case that you have run through the entrance, down some horrible stairs and then across the pit.

Oh, and what if I have to change my ticket delivery to box office pickup, and they can't give the tickets until like 12am on the actual day. And I'd want to go to queue in the morning. So how do I know where should I queue?

Hi everyone-
I bought this flyer a few months ago because I thought I was going to be able to go to this show. Things did not work out so I was wondering if any of you would like to purchase it from me. I paid almost $25 USD for it with shipping from the UK to the US. I would only charge that and whatever it would cost me to ship it to you. If you are interested please PM me. I hope you all have a good time. Wish I was going to be there

Honestly??
They were handing them out after the concerts in the O2 in December and I grabbed some (so not really rare like it says in the description, sorry)!!
Still have them in my bag with the butterfly confetti :)
I wouldn't even think about putting a flyer on ebay but obviously there was a market...
Sorry to hear you can't make it.

Yes, I think what she means is that she bought it on June 4th and wants to resell it now!!

It is the end, friends!
The British embassy does not wish to let up me to Britain and all my dreams about Wembley concerts have broken... (((
I hope in following tour Coldplay will perform on Wembley again and I will be in this place at least before Olimpic games-2012.
I wish all of you, guys, devilishly incredible time!
Oh cruel embassy, why do you mock me!
oh noes!!! sorry to hear about your predicament, Macintosh! :(
but what was the reason tho (if any given)?
Hi guys, I'm from Singapore and i'll be heading to London this coming sept for 2 months of studies. My term begins on the 20th so i've concluded that i'm fated to see them live again! (i've seen both their shows when they were here) Is there anyway u guys can help me on getting tickets for this 19th gig? I've seen some on ticketmasters but its quite costly and i dont really know how the tickets system works in UK.
It's like a dream come true to see them at Wembly! please advise!!!
love how Coldplay's Wembley gig coincides with the start of uni/school term in UK... :)
i'd suggest to just keep checking on Ticketmaster or the other legal/official sites for tickets as & when they become available. that's how i got my ticket, btw...once i'd gotten my uni offers & accepted one. & i'd say my Wembley ticket cost less than the most expensive ticket for the recent Singapore gig...so i suppose the only ticket available to you are the Club Wembley package ones? cos last i checked it's sold out & looking at any other outlets (e.g. eBay) would mean paying a higher price & the risk that the ticket's not legit.

@dfit00 Did you tell these people that the longer they wait for booking hotels the more expensive it becomes???
And for transportation: there are cheap buses from the airports to the city centre and for everything else TfL is perfect!
I recommend Oyster cards to everybody btw.
You can put money on it and if there's money left on it you can get it paid back before you leave.

i got that email too (this is the 2nd time i'm getting it already). but the thing is i long ago arranged for my ticket to be Box Office Collection. i suppose they are mass mailing it out to everyone who bought a ticket? :\
i did call TicketMaster to look at the possibility of mailing it out to me instead, but that didn't seem feasible ultimately cos of my travel plans. the last thing i'd need now is for my ticket to be mailed to me in Malaysia when i'm already in UK!
but i don't think that's possible, since i'd have had to top up the difference had i authorised the change in arrangement...& i haven't seen any additional charges by TicketMaster in my credit card bill so far.

I haven't arranged my tickets to be collected at the box office yet, just hoping they will ship them in time for my departure which will be one week before the Wembley gigs. Optimistic?
The worst case scenario is to come up to Wembely without the ticket which will be hold at a post office and not to be able to enter the stadium.
Should I call up Ticketmaster?

Just an FYI - I am coming from the US for the Sept. 19 show. I leave on a red eye Sept. 17. I called ticketmaster.uk earlier this week after receiving the second email. He said I should get them seven days before the show and if I dont have them five days before I leave to call back and they will leave them at will call. I asked if they can do that if the tickets have already been sent and en route and he said they can print duplicates at the box office. I re-confirmed this with him as everything else I have read was contrary to this and he said yes, they can reprint duplicates.

That would be a relief. At least you know that you can still get your ticket @ the stadium.
Although picking up @ the box office is also a bit of a hassle as we'll have to leave the queue, and then try to find our way back. And if the arena staff starts scanning barcodes and giving out wristbands for the standing area before we get our tickets, I'm afraid we might get relegated to the end of the queue :\

Some Wembley info to assist with your planning :D
Advice 1 - Bring cash
There are 688 food beverage kiosks are located across the Stadium selling a variety of food. Please be advised the kiosks do not take credit or debit card payments or £50 notes.
Merchandise kiosks selling programmes and event day items are available on the public concourses in the Stadium and there are also official Wembley Stadium kiosks selling merchandise on Olympic Way.
Advice 2 - Don't plan on buying rounds once you're in the stadium!
Due to the Responsible Sale of Alcohol, the sale of alcoholic drinks is limited to two per transaction.
Advice 3 - Think carefully about what you're taking with you!
The following articles must not be brought within the Ground: knives, fireworks, smoke canisters, air-horns, flares, weapons, dangerous or hazardous items, laser devices, bottles, glass vessels, cans, poles and any article that might be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety.
Any person in possession of such items will be refused entry to the Ground.
• Any article that might be used as a weapon be deemed to be offensive or abusive, or compromise public safety, will be confiscated and or reported to the police
• Unlicensed musical instruments:
- trumpets, drums and other devices capable of causing a disturbance or nuisance
• Flag poles greater than 1m in length
• Flares
• Bottles, glass vessels, cans, flasks
• Frisbees and similar items
• Dangerous or hazardous items
• Illegal substances
• Explosives or ammunition; fireworks
• Knives, blades or other weapons
• Firearms
• Scooters, skateboards or other skates
• Laser devices
• Smoke canisters
• Signs or items with corporate or inappropriate branding
• Unauthorised fliers
• Spray paint, large industrial style “permanent“ marker pens
• Prams / push chairs
• Transmitting devices
• Professional cameras & recording devices (This applies to cameras that have interchangeable lenses)
• Large suitcases, lap tops, and back packs
(trip hazards)
• Illegal merchandise items
• Water bottles (need to have the ability to decant)
• Illegal charity collection utensils
• Motor bike helmets
• Umbrellas
• Darts
• Hampers and Cold Boxes
• Air horns
• Alcohol
• Animals (except service dogs & guide dogs)
darn it, and there was me thinking the hamster would love a trip to see Coldplay
Advice 4 - Dress nicely, you're gonna be on camera!
CCTV cameras are in use around and in the Ground and WNSL may itself use, or pass to the police or any Event organiser or other relevant authority, any recordings for use in any proceedings.
And some other useful stuff can be found here: http://www.wembleystadium.com/events/groundregulations/

Banning people from being in their own sealed water bottles is a grey area, cos all it will take is for someone who needs water if they are on any medicines who doesn't want to pay £2+ for a bottle of water collapsing and all hell shall break loose with whose fault it was. Hence why at Blur in Hyde Park when it was really hot they had to give out free water to stop people collapsing in the heat.
But I shall see if I can sneak in some bottles of water on Friday for U2, and get some research on the other various prices of food/drink ;)
