looks like this could be standing only!!

both Hampden Park & Wembley have seated & standing ticket listings. LCCC only has one listing with a flat £45 ticket price.

I was just thinking in terms of my first Coldplay gig. It was standing only, and we got front row. I was hanging over the barrier in front of Guy, and I didn't have a clue who he was (nor any of the rest of them either). They started out with Politik and I wondered what on earth Ian had taken me too, thought I was in for an awful night. But I loved it, and somewhere along the way I've gone from going to the shows as company for Ian to being mega-excited about going in my own right. The next 12 days feel as though they're going to go so slowly, the last 4 months since we bought the tickets for the areadefinitely have.

take the altrincham tram on the metrolink from the city centre and get off at Old Trafford. LCCC is right next to the station ;)

very literally. you can just about make out the tram stop in the top right corner of this picture

http://www.integraconsulting.co.uk/images/lancs.jpg

you'll be on the wrong side of the tracks, so you just need to go through the underpass and up the other side. once on the street, you're outside the entrances to the ground..

I saw Richard Ashcroft at LCCC a couple of years ago and we had a great time. It was a bit close getting the metro (full of singing England fans, eek!) to the station for the Liverpool train but we made it in time. Can't wait for September!

Saturday, the girls don't fly in until Saturday morning. I think with two long camp outs planned for the two Wembers gigs we couldn't do Manchester camping too, especially with jetlag involved. :stunned:

So when you get there you can either stand or sit. Is only one level of seats though. Isn't miles up like at Wembers.

Bird Consultancy has won the public relations account for phase one of Lancashire County Cricket Club’s multi-million pound redevelopment.

Trafford Borough Council has just given the green light to the new conference, event and banqueting facility at the Old Trafford ground.

"This will allow the Club to start work on redeveloping the ground so that LCCC can bring International Test Cricket back to Manchester as quickly as possible," said Phillip Grant from Drivers Jonas LLP’s planning team.

http://www.lccc.co.uk/00images/development/OT1-web.jpg

£200m developmentThe first stage will be a £12m venue capable of hosting dinners for up to 1000 guests, with facilities to cater for conferences from between 100 and 1000 delegates.

"This new facility will simply be the best of its kind – Manchester has been crying out for a 1000+ capacity events building for many years so it is good news for us, for Trafford and the wider region," explained Lancashire’s Commercial Director, Geoff Durbin.

During the development a marquee will be erected, to cater for conferences and dinners. Work begins next month and is due to be completed in summer 2010.

It’s another sporting addition to Bird Consultancy, which is working with the Football Conference, and specialist physiotherapists Harris and Ross.

Not sure. Let me have a little look around.

I was thinking of maybe getting one closer to the LCCC than the city centre as I need one I can park in and city centre hotels often don't have parking. Also so it's not a nightmare leaving the gig afterwards.

There's trams that run frequently into the centre so will be easy enough to get there if we need to, plus I'll have my car. :idea2:

Had a look at my fave place (Travel Lodge), and if you want out of the City Centre, there's Manchester Didsbury. Its £51 a night at the mo, with free parking. Its next to the Cineworld cinema, and by default pizza hut, Frankie & Benny's, Chicquitos, Nandos & Burger King. Bus from there is about 15 mins into city centre, and I think you can get a bus from there to withing walking distance of LCCC.

If you fancy something a little more original: there's the Normanhurst hotel. Its in Sale, about 15 mins walk from Brooklands tram stop, and the tram is about 10/15 mins from there to LCCC, 15/20 mins into town. Room prices B&B start from £45, and it is a very nice breakfast :D (had my first breakfast as a married woman there :), and we stayed there after my sister's wedding too). And its free parking again.

On Late Rooms, all the hotels around LCCC seem to be full already.

If you need to get the bus your best bet is 263, it runs every 20 mins in the day on a sat I think, from piccadilly to alitrincham, basically along side the tram route, I'd stick to the tram though as it stops basically outside of L.C.C.C

Right girlies. I need to know what everyone is doing.

Manchester Didsbury Travelodge (http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=155) seems like the best option (thanks Jen ) we can get a family room (which consists of a double bed and a pull out double bed - if people are okay with bunking up, the beds are quite large) for £51 per night.

So Mel and Lori have their flights booked and will be arriving on Friday morning, so we'll definitely need it for the Friday night for three of us. When are you coming to Manchester Min? Friday also?

I know Mel was talking about driving back to mine after the gig, which I don't mind doing, but it'll be a bit nightmarish and we won't be able to get a train to London at that time of night anyway.

It only takes 45 minutes to get to mine from Manchester, so if we got a train pretty much as soon as we got back in the morning we won't arrive in London much earlier than if I had driven back after the gig...if that makes sense   Plus you'll get a decent night sleep so you're not too jetlagged and tired when we arrive in London.

Soo in conclusion (long winded ) if we book the hotel for Friday and Saturday night it'll cost us £102 (£25.50 each) which isn't too bad.

But if that's too expensive or you don't want to bunk up I'll look again. The room looks nice though and is in a good location and I don't mind sleeping on the floor if anyone doesn't want to bunk.

Let me know :D

Thanks, travel agent Mich:D (and Jen too;))

Sounds great! Looks nice and clean.

Mel's vote: Book it:cool:

I'll most probably be in London by that time Mich... If all you girls are arriving Friday, I would most like take a train or whatever form of public transport most suitable to Manchester on Friday too :D

The place looks good, and the price sounds decent. No problems with bunking!

Okay. :D Well if Lori agrees I'll book it :D

By the way getting to Manchester. Train is faster (about 2 and a half hours) but can be pricey. The earlier you book, the better. Oh and if you do decide to get the train, don't book a return ticket as often it's cheaper to buy two single tickets :idea2:

You can also get a National Express Coach which is cheap but takes 5 hours.

Yeah it is a nightmare. But is a lot cheaper. :) Just another option if train prices are high. They've just had a huge price hike you see.

omg what happened to the days of being there 2 hours before the doors opened, and being able to get front row? :(

the only bonus to 11am is that Maccy D's will still be serving breakfast on the way there.

OK...

I have a wee problem. I was planning to move to London in early September, watch Coldplay @ Manc and Wembley, and start school in October.

But my brother's wedding is in late September.

I've told my mum I'm willing to catch a flight back. But she's angry at me for wasting my money (even though I'm thinking of working another month to cover the cost of the flight ticket) and basically told me to scrap the Coldplay concerts.

It's your money Min. And it seems like if you were moving to London anyway, then the CP concerts really have nothing to do with it.:\ Is your mom not happy about you moving to London?:inquisitive:

We can't do Manc and Wembers without you Min!

She says I can leave for London AFTER the wedding, I'll still make it in time for the start of school. That means that I'll miss out on the gigs :\

Anyway, she lectured me this afternoon (and I refused to talk ) but basically she's resigned to the fact that I AM going to Manc and Wembley and I AM going to fly back for my brother's wedding no matter what.

You just got to stand your ground Min, it's your money, it's your life and if you're prepared to work longer to pay for it then that's your choice.

It would be a far bigger waste of money to have to those tickets and not use them.

I hope you're okay
