Phew, plans have finally all fallen into place :P

I'll be arriving at Manchester Piccadilly (wherever that is!) on Friday around 3:30, and staying both nights at the Manchester Central Travelodge (ditto!!) to leave around Sunday lunchtime.

I look forward so much to meeting everyone for drinks on Friday, and will probably stay for most of the meal too :)

As far as I am aware the trams are still not running in the city centre so you will either have to travel by foot (~15 mins walk) or taxi :)

This evening at 18:30, the canal said the temp was 17 celsius. the weather was blue sky with a hint of cloud & sunshine. felt a little chilly.

Currently, going dark, but clear skies.

Based on tonight's weather, I suggest having an extra layer to keep you warm til Coldplay come on.

maybe I wasn't clear enough. you mentioned the city centre, and I was agreeing with that bit coz St Peter's Square is shut. you can travel from G-Mex to Altrincham and vice versa. but can't get on a tram at Piccadilly and go all the way through :P

there has been for Arctic Monkeys, Take That ect recently usually first come first serve.
Its good get down there early and get in, then go to bar/ food etc. Then get back in.

If you like a bit space stand to the back of the front circle and still get a good view.

It says on the LCCC website that 3 roads will be closed after the event. I was planning on having someone pick me up by car after the concert, will they not be able to come near the LCCC?

Also is it standard that Johnny stands to Chris' right and Guy to Chris's left?

There will be people parked at the venue so there will be a way of getting to it, might just be via redirections. Although once everyone starts leaving it might be a nightmare :confused:

the temperature on the Stretford canal at approx 18:15 was 24 celsius (feels lots warmer than yesterday evening)

has been sunny and blue sky all day.


oh, and for those thinking about traffic. its gonna be chaotic getting out after the gig. depending which direction you're headed, if someone's picking you up, I'd get them to park a 15/20 min walk away facing in the direction you need to go. then walk down to meet them. if they try & meet you near LCCC you'll end up stationary for traffic in ages.


I don't know how many thousand are attending LCCC, but traffic is always horrible after Man U home games

my Dad was giving me a lift home from town one week day evening when they were playing at home. he told me not to be late. I completely forgot and he rang to find out where I was so I had to run to meet him.

we got to the old trafford junction on the road, just as they closed the road to let the football fans out to the Metro. and I had to sit there in the car with a fuming dad for over half an hour until they re-opened the road to cars

Not sure. I've never been in that direction when there's a concert on and its my first time at LCCC. still trying to work out what I'm going to do about parking. I was thinking of parking at work (which unfortunately doesn't help you :( ) but think even that's a bit close.

WELL, here is it is then, the last big outdoor gig of the summer. Oasis were both ramshackle and resurgent at Heaton Park (the last time we’ll see them? I’m not so sure…), while Doves positively shimmered at Delamere.

But undoubtedly the most innovative, awe-inspiring and just plain joyous outdoor gigs of yet another meagre summer came from Take That and their sold out run at Old Trafford.

Bursting – centre stage – from a flurry of airborne balloons, Mark, Gary, Howard and Jason showed just why they’re just about the hottest ticket in the country at the moment. Could they’re comeback have gone any better? Quite simply the answer is no.

Hoping to harness the quartet’s ability to make a 50,000-capacity (and tired looking cricket ground) feel spectacular, yet intimate this Saturday will be Coldplay.

And let’s face it, with a major label and humungous ticket sales behind them, no corners will be cut.

Their arena tour, which took fourth LP, Viva La Vida, to the people last winter showed early inklings of what they had planned too.

Frontman Chris ‘Ever Ready Bunny’ Martin and the boys popped up all over the M.E.N, ensuring each segment of the crowd got their personal moment in what proved two truly euphoric nights.

Streets ahead of the wishy-washy indie they tend to get bandied in with (namely Athlete and Snow Patrol), those boys have the intelligence, heart and passion to turn anodyne spaces into communal throngs and I’m sure they’ll pull it off again this weekend.

Plus with a bright, dry day expected and the small matter of a certain Jay-Z (plus White Lies) to warm the masses up, it could well be one of THOSE great Manchester nights.

Just checked the Metrolink website and they're not reporting any issues. They advise the Altrincham line is fully re-opened. We're in town for dinner tonight (am just about to leave now) so will check out St Peter's Square and post findings later :)

Just dropped Ian off to join min, Mich & Mel. They are the first people at the venue other than security & other people being paid to be there.

Anyone who's heading down to LCCC, they're at entrance 4 on Great Stone Road (opposite side of the stadium to the tram stop). After checking it out this morning, and talking to security, they decided it was the most promising entrance, not least because it appears to be nearest to the stage trucks.

I've never tried it so not too sure, but think you might be pushing it. capacity is 50,000, so tram stop will be very busy. when the football's on, the trams are packed to the rafters and they have crowd control on the station. the roads will be busy too for getting a bus/taxi.

Just dropped Ian off to join min, Mich & Mel. They are the first people at the venue other than security & other people being paid to be there.

Anyone who's heading down to LCCC, they're at entrance 4 on Great Stone Road (opposite side of the stadium to the tram stop). After checking it out this morning, and talking to security, they decided it was the most promising entrance, not least because it appears to be nearest to the stage trucks.

seems the sound is carrying far. My Mum thinks she can hear it from her house (my twitter estimate of 8 miles is apparently wrong) about 4/5 miles away. all the sound went quiet whilst acoustic was on and has just started up again
