Try looking on the bus website.
Benjamin

Take a train from Bankstown Station to Olympic Park Station - exactly what I did when I went to the ARIA Awards this year, which was also at Acer Arena (except I came from Bondi Junction Station).
Acer Arena is a 3-minute walk from the Olympic Park Station.

how to buy the ticket?:)
Benjamin
23-11-2008, 11:28 AM
When you get to Bankstown Station buy a return ticket to Olympic Park Station.
Then ask for one of the staff to direct you to the line to goes to Lidcombe if you're having trouble finding it.
Once you're on the train be aware when you arrive at Lidcombe Station. It should take about 20 minutes. When you do, be sure to get off.
At Lidcombe Station find the sign that says Olympic Park Station and catch that train and you'll arrive there in about 6 minutes.
Oh, by the way, you can't pre-book train tickets.

If you have a Visa credit card they go on pre-sale this Thursday.
Otherwise you'll have to wait until Thursday next week.
Check ticketek.com.au.

Yeah, basically ticketek.com.au sucks.
It's really disorganised and unclear, I had trouble buying my tickets too.

26-11-2008, 11:14 PM
It's crazy, giving only 10 minutes before logging out.
Other sites I used before gave me 10 minutes to HOLD a ticket, but won't log me out, sparing me the time wasted by refreshing the page and logging in again.
But that's water under the bridge already, we got our tickets :D

I bought a ticket to the concert in Sydney on the 14th of March when it was announced as I wasn't sure whether coldplay would make it over to NZ. Turns out they are so I'm now selling this ticket, if anyone's interested? The ticket is for a seat right on the front side of the stage and it looks like 7th row back. One of the Gold tickets. I paid $170 NZ for it (I think that's $140 Aus), and am not looking for a mark-up, just for $170 NZ back :)
If you're interested or know anyone else who might be please get in touch. Ta!

I've got a spare ticket for the show on the 12th in Sydney. I bought it before they announced a show on the 14th (which is much better for me - being a Saturday). It's a seated ticket in section 19 - right near the stage! I just want to sell it for face value ($140). Contact me if you want it!

Hey Guys,
i really need some help. I have 2 standing tickets for saturday nights (14) concert and have just realised i am double booked (cousins wedding) now after discussing with the better half we have decied that the best solution is to try and swap these tickets for one of the other concerts for standing or excellent sitting tickets.
Not here to make any money just want to see an awesome band. So if any one is interested please let me know.
Cheers

hey sydneysiders...
i was just wondering if anyone wants to stalk coldplay with me tomorrow in the airport?
ok, i know this is a bit obsessive(the extent of which coldplay can push u) but i've called the sydney airport and they said normally for domestic private plane landing, it will be at the t2 terminal...
so i guess i should just try my luck...
anyone cares to join me? :P

Surprisingly my dad is home today which means I can drive in instead of train. Woo! I'm really hoping the lining up thing is worth it. I want front row. Not sure of my chances though. Not sure how it will work with the outside doors opening an hour before the inside doors as well.

Ugh, okay so I ended up lining up for about 2 and a half hours and then have to stand through the support acts only to be miserable because I was squished so bad, the girl in front kept putting her hair in my face, her bf felt it necessary to have his arm around her the whole time and completely get in my space and touch my boobs and tall guys (who should totally be banned from the front) were in my way and I couldn't see a thing. So, after the pleasure of them being directly to the right of me when they played the few songs on the runway, my friend and I slowly made our way through the sea of people (when they play the Viva La Vida remix and everyone lights up their phones in the dark) where there was SPACE to move and breath! Sooo much better. I was dancing and I could even see way better. Anyways, can't complain but I must admit, I didn't enjoy the show before I moved to the back which gives me that awful feeling of regret. As my friend said though, if I had been at the back the whole time, I would have been saying "I could have been up there so close to them", not knowing how awful it was. You live and learn.

I forgot to mention, one girl fainted before the show even started. How bad would that suck!! I was on the verge on a panic attack, I must admit. I hate crowds and I think I have a mild case of claustrophobia.
Oh, and I think the setlist was the same as last nights, except they played Green Eyes instead of Speed of Sound.
Oh, and Chris' dad was on the other side of the runway to me in the front row of seats. He got up in Viva La Vida and Lost I think. I wonder what he thinks of the music.

Sorry, didn't think to take a photo of him. Just an old-ish looking guy with silver/grey hair. Very British looking haha.
Yes, I just came home from the show to answer your question in the other thread. I'm exhausted haha. I was next to the fence with the end of the runway to my direct right. Planned last night to head to that spot if I couldn't get to the front (which I got nowhere near).

Oh and another thing which has really been bugging me is people in the crowd and the shoutouts I heard on the radio after the show only screaming "I love you Chris", "Chris is awesome" etc. There's 3 other very talented band members you know. The only time I heard one of them mentioned was "the drummer sang too". His name is Will. If you're willing to spend $140 on tickets, you should know this.

lol. people around me were a bit like that too. they only sing the songs that are total hit and do not know a single word of the other songs. come on, do your homework before coming! when i talked to people, they were saying that i did my research...well, u do not have to do researches when u are a fan..

The crowd was definitely better tonight (especially the seated crowd... more people stood up  in fact EVERYONE in the section beside me stood up :D) Setlist was the same as last night except for the C stage songs, which were Green Eyes, I'm a Believer and DWNC.
A bunch of us waited at the loading dock for the boys. Unfortunately Guy and Jon had left early again, and Will drove off but did not stop although he waved. We waited close to 4 hours in the cold before Chris finally came out. He took photos with everyone and signed one autograph per person :bomb:

That pisses me off big time really. As much as Chris Martin is the frontman of Coldplay, Guy, Jon and Will (and Phil) are still very much a part of Coldplay. All of them should get the recognition they deserve.
did u take a picture with Chris again??

A bunch of us waited at the loading dock for the boys. Unfortunately Guy and Jon had left early again, and Will drove off but did not stop although he waved. We waited close to 4 hours in the cold before Chris finally came out. He took photos with everyone and signed one autograph per person :bomb:
Four hours! Wow. When I was waiting in the dock area for the staff bus driver to get his coffee so that I could get to P5, the security guy said that the band were having a party because it was the 100th show and that Chris was going to still be in there for a while. That was close to 2AM so I guess it is better I left to go home then.
Apparently they have never stuck around so long at a venue before (according to the security guy, who is lovely, and to one of my boss-type people) and that it is because the dressing rooms are more spacious than usual at Acer Arena.

There's no two without three now..good luck for the next days and hopefully you will meet Jonny and Guy as well
:bomb: I hope so, but they have been doing runners every night since Brisbane so I don't think I have much chance to meet then
You are so lucky to go to so many concerts. How are you able to manage that?Do you work or are you in school.?How far is Singapore from Australia?? Just curious..
Enjoy all the shows...
I'm working, but I took leave to travel. Singapore is about 7 hours by plane to Sydney.

i dont really post in this part of the forum that much. over the last couple of years my passion for coldplay has died down a little bit but having been a fan for sooo long i really wanted to see them live at least once, and see what its like. having looked at the setlists for the tour i was dissapointed that they were soo one dimensional almost identical every night. but wow last night was one hell of an experience. one i will never forget. i've been to my fair share of big concerts but this was different to all of them. it felt like much more of a "show" rather that your regular concert. rather than just hearing 20-odd songs being played it was light show, stage spectacular and a hint of comedy from chris. despite experiencing countless technical difficulties through the night they sounded amazing. but the one thing i will remember from the show is how it felt like the band were performing for each and everyone of us individually at no point did it feel like they were simply going through the motions.
leading up to the show i was thinking this will the first and last time i see the boys live. but after last night my mind has been changed. i really hope they come back soon. i could continue writing about last night forever but i'll stop here. but highlight of the night for me was when the crowd sang the harmonies to viva la vida, a song i dont like that much but when its being sung by 20 000 sydneysiders its the best song in the world!!

I know what you mean!
For me "Clocks" is overplayed or at leat I heard it too often. Hearing it at a concert however is a completely different thing!
Love it.
I'm happy for you that you got to see them live!
When leaving the venue all you have in your happy mind is thinking about when you will be able to see them again, isn't it?
I saw you'll record the benefit concert as well - thank you so much for doing that, you'll make MANY people happy!!!!

It's strange how songs which aren't our favourites can blow our minds live. That happened to me on the last tour with Talk and on this tour with Lost. Nowhere near my favourite album songs, but up there with the best songs live for me.

How did you know it was him?!:o

Okay, so I too was there on Thursday night and it was my first Coldplay concert.
What I can say is that it was one of the best nights of my life, ever. The atmosphere, the music, everyone singing along... it was just amazing. The boys have an amazing stage presence. I think I almost cried during Strawberry Swing.
I was with two friends. We were in the 4th standing row on the left side near Jonny. And about half way through the show we found ourselves in the 3rd row, somehow. I could see everything! Getting there early and queuing for hours certainly paid off!
My only disappointment of the night was that they played Green Eyes instead of Speed of Sound, the song that got me into Coldplay in the first place. Ah well.
I got myself a program and two t-shirts, I'm so happy I did. They were certainly on the expensive side, but I have no regrets. I also collected a ton of butterflies from Lovers in Japan.
Highlights of the night (the ones that stood out most for me):
Life in Technicolor - the months of anticipation finally paid off when this one started, and what a fantastic start it was
Clocks - this song sounds so much better live, plus the lasers complimented the song so well, everyone got really into it
Yellow - the yellow balls bouncing around the audience was expected, but exciting nevertheless, plus the song is a classic
Glass of Water - not everyone knew this one, though the rockier sound of the song had the crowd going, it's my favourite off the EP
Strawberry Swing - woooow, this song always gets to me, and sounded even better live
The Hardest Part - the acoustic performance of this one was great, and this song is a personal classic
Viva la Vida - nothing needs to be said; being their 'biggest' song, everyone was going crazy singing and the atmosphere was indescribable
Viva la Vida Remix Interlude - everyone in the whole arena was waving their mobiles around, that was an amazing sight
Politik - the usage of strobe lights was really great, everyone going mental jumping up and down was a bonus
Lovers in Japan - possibly my favourite song off the album, the butterfly confetti just added to the mood
Death and All His Friends - everyone shouting out those last lines, absolutely epic
The Scientist - my second favourite ballad (behind Amsterdam), it was amazing how the band entered at different times and eventually all played together
Life in Technicolor ii - the last song of the night, and such a great one to finish off with; the multicoloured 'VIVA' at the end was preetty (it's my computer background now)
Overall it was amazing night and one that I'll probably remember forever.

i used to regret not taking a camera to a gig, then not videoing the full song, then not enough songs, now i regret not getting all the songs!

In the past few weeks, a lot has been made of Chris Martin. U2's Bono called him a 'cretin' on BBC Radio, which has raised the long lasting question of where Coldplay stands in the list of "world's biggest band". As Coldplay's fearless leader, Martin has been charged with proving why this group of friends, originally from London, deserve the titles of greatness that have been placed upon them since their early days. I am here to tell you that he manages this feat with charm, confidence and the full support of each member of the band.
At the Acer Arena (formerly the Superdome) at Sydney's Olympic Park, Coldplay reinvigorated my love for not just one or two songs, but their entire catalogue. This was partially done by changing the formula of classics (a more up tempo version of Yellow, and a minimalist, electro version of God Put A Smile On Your Face are two great examples), but mostly from the energy that the band continues to bring to every track. This also shows how Coldplay continue to remain relevant and that’s through adaptation. Of course this could have turned sour - changing a good thing could shock the loyal fans into demons - but thankfully the boys know their audience well enough to push and pull just enough.
Decked out in very cool, Napoleonic military inspired outfits, Coldplay played a set that jumped through all 4 of their albums, as well as dipping into their latest EP, Prospekt's March. The focus was definitely upon Viva la Vida, but there was never a question that the songs that made the band huge - Yellow, The Scientist, Clocks, Fix You - were going to get a play.
The show was choreographed perfectly to bring the crowd to higher and higher still levels of euphoria. Apart from the main stage, there were two runways into the crowd which were used on numerous occasions during the performance (including a beautiful spot lit piano solo by Chris Martin.) During Yellow, confetti filled balloons poured into the crowd, and later still during the show fluorescent coloured, butterfly shaped paper fluttered through the air. However the show stopper was definitely when the crowd walked off the stage, and into the crowd to a mini-stage, previously unnoticed amongst the seats. Between songs played here (including a cover of The Monkees' 'I'm a Believer'), Chris Martin regaled the crowd with a witty, charming, and modest story, which he ended by expressing his gratitude for being considered in the same league as other world conquering bands, all of which must have been designed to remind fans and critics alike of just how big this band has become.
If you can't gather this by now, I loved Coldplay's concert. This was my third such experience, and every one has provided a different experience, but also has given me a new lease on my love for this band and the wonderful music they have consistently made. If you get a chance next time they are in a town near you, do not hesitate in buying a ticket.

I keep thinking about this night... Being the only night of the four that I went to. This thread is completely dead compared to the threads of the other three Sydney nights.
Anyway, can I just say that it was absolutely hilarious when the standing crowd all booed Mercury Rev? We all thought they were finished and then they started playing another song! Hahahaha! :P
