And how much? Because I have this feeling that tickets are going to be expensive... more than

I'll keep on work to let you all know the prize as soon as posible.
It's also good to remind that tickets will be available at EL CORTE INGLÉS and FNAC, SERVICAIXA and some others as the report of TV3 says.

thanks for the info. :D layla and Fernando :nice:
so any idea about the ticket cost?
Previous concert (at Palau Saint Jordi) cost me like 50 € (+7€ that the ElCorteInglés won :uhoh: )
so your guess about it, is that it'll be even more expensive or a bit cheaper?.
I fear them will be sold out soon, although the venue capacity is of 150000 people i think.
the exact time when them will be on sale is 10am here, right?
ColdplayerMálaga
13-12-2008, 11:42 AM

I guess tickets will cost 60€... the venue, themselves, life and economy actually... :laugh3:
If you want the ticket with the tour picture you have to go to shops or I guess online, in Servicaixa the ticket for everything is the yellow one.
So you paid 57€ or 51€ in last gig only for buying tickets in Corte Ingles? :stunned: I paid 50€ in Servicaixa.
And do you know the time tickets will be available?

mmm 60€ :o
mm ElCorteIngles don't give a picture ticket... i mean it just says: the event, the band, the venue, the date and your seat (in case the ticket is for seat).
and yes on El Corte Ingles cost me the same... but the good thing was that i got the ticket just when i bought it, instead as if i would had ordered it through any site. :)

zona grada cerca del escenario

Darlene_Ihnfsa
16-12-2008, 07:27 PM

Ahora mismo he mirado y quedan poquísimas en Servicaixa.
Evori
17-12-2008, 04:26 PM
Menudo robo...

(Edit: perdón, queria decir: dirme argo xoxo)

Ahora a guardarlas bien!!!!

Dear Spanish friends,
I'm willing to visit the beautiful city of Barcelona to see Coldplay...
and I've visited the livenation.es, and caixa and 2 more sites with tickets,
and as far as I'm concerened I've 2 major problems if you would be so kind to help, I would really appreatiate it :)
1) LIVENATION.ES
it has a CRAP ticket sale programme... where you don't know what you are buying... 5-6 types of tickets but no map attached... so which ones are the ones for PISTA/PELOUSE or GA.... whatever you call it...
IT DOES HAVE A COURIER DISPATCH though... it cost a hefty 25E... ridicilous but ok... can someone identify those types?
2) OTHERS
There is a map, and you can choose PISTA... for 51,50e... but if I understand it well you can only collect those tickets in Barcelona with the same Credit Card that you used via internet...
so now, what if... in not too distant future U2 announcec tour... and f.e. plays on that day in my country... and I decide to go for U2.... instead of Spanish affair with Coldplay....
I will be unable to sell the Coldplay tickets.... coz I won't give anyone my credit card to collect them!!!! .... and I will lose my 100euro.... which is a lot of money...
HELP!
That spanish system is really hard.... I believe it's well anti-scalpers... but ANTI foreign fans also!!!
HELP HELP HELP!

I've been searching in serviticket for some help, I think you can try to ask here... I think that only happens with the Servicaixa, I guess..
So, in my opinion, for a foreigner is better to look at sites as TickTackTicket or other similar to buy the tickets with a map and only paying a bit more to recieve them directly in your home.
I hope it will helps you a little bit..

Coldplay is going to record this evening's concert and will dedicate it to Barcelona

•The 63.500 seats offered for sale were already sold-out in April
•The London quartet is going to record a DVD with this evening's concert at the Olympic Stadium
by NANDO CRUZ / translated by Google tool to Danish and from Danish to English by Nancy Boysen
BARCELONA
Tonight Coldplay intend to offer one of their best and most triumphant performances in the band's career. The tickets were sold-out in April. When at 9.30pm the English quartet enter the stage at the Olympic Stadium, there will be an attendance of 63,500 people predisposed to enjoy this concert which they have been waiting for - for months. Additionally Chris Martin and co. know that their Viva la vida has become an unofficial Barca national anthem, so the apotheosis x) is guaranteed. Therefore today Coldplay will record the concert and release it on DVD very soon. The recordings will take place by means of an advanced camera comprising a very high crane mounted outside of the rehearsal room in order to captivate aerial photos of the show.
When Coldplay released their first album, Parachutes (2000), the critics wrote about the group's monumental profile. "Their songs are designed for being played at larger venues," it was proclaimed with confidence - only time will show whether this verdict is correct. The following albums of the group "A Rush of Blood To Your Head To The Head" (2002) and "X&Y" (2005), confirmed this initial feeling of greatness and a brilliant future for the group. "They are successors to U2 ", "is a group born to fill up stadiums".
Classics for a generation / Artists that can fill-up stadiums are often those, the lifetime of which make them open to several generations of concert-goers. The Rolling Stones, U2, Bruce Springsteen, AC / DC have been active musicians for three to five decades. Coldplay, instead, managed to be included in that league of stadium-filling artists after only a ten-year-long career. Coldplay is the only group from this decade being part of this league.
Who attended the Coldplay concert only 12 months ago at Sant Jordi, should not expect this evening's concert to differ much from that concert. During this time the group have offered their fans some songs for free download from their website and their latest record: Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends (2008). Who has not seen Coldplay live, should know that Coldplay win in the long run. They were born to win and have a repertoire with an epic warmth which is both overwhelming and exciting: A comfortable bombast. They do not need circular or huge scenaries, as they know how to reach the audience in the back row.
Extremely good opening bands. / A group that is infallible at the big stadiums will be one of the opening bands. The Flaming Lips (playing at 7.50pm) will guarantee a spectacular show. The group "Los de Oklahoma" is well-known for their psychedelic and joyous performances; it is somewhat a mixture of Pink Floyd and Teletubbies. And records such as "The Soft Bulletin (1999) and Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots (2002), delirious and heart-warming classics of the psychedelic rock, are the most important ingredients of an always colourful show. At 19 o'clock the Toledo quintet will play Sunday Drivers.
apotheosis x) Elevation to divine status; glorification
Paltrow Succeeds Streisand As Star Tourist in Barcelona
http://www.elperiodico.com/default.asp?idpublicacio_PK=46&idioma=CAS&idnoticia_PK=642185&idseccio_PK=1028
BARCELONA by IMEDIO FERRAN / translated by Nancy Boysen
No star can resist Barcelona's charm. The list of stars enchanted by Barcelona is interminable: Bruce Springsteen, U2, Woody Allen, Rihanna, Russell Crowe, Renée Zellweger ... They have all passed through the Catalan capital and largest city in Catalonia in the latest months. The star visiting Barcelona before Gwyneth Paltrow was Barbara Streisand, who visited Barcelona earlier this week together with her husband, actor James Brolin. Gwyneth Paltrow arrived in Barcelona Wednesday immediately before her partner, Coldplay singer Chris Martin. Today Coldplay plays the Olympic Stadium.
GOAL, dinner at Arola / / Paltrow was the star tourist on Wednesday and arrived with the couple's children, Apple, 5, and Moses, 3, and settled in one of the two big and luxurious duplex apartments in the Hotel Arts, booked at 2.500 € per night. The couple lives in London and has bought the neighbouring property to create a superhouse with 33 rooms; this alone is going to coste eight million euro. NANCY BOYSEN
-------------------------------
As I cannot Spanish, I had to make use of the Google translation tool which translated the Spanish text into very bad Danish - some of the sentences were meaningless consisting of Danish words, but with no connection what-so-ever (some of the adjectives in the Spanish text were suddenly nouns which destroyed the context). It was a nice puzzle of words puzzling me. :) So I spent some time trying (mostly with success) to find out the meaning making use of my knowledge of French and Latin. The result is a translation into English with some rewriting of the passages involving the purchase of the neighbouring property in London. But the above is mostly a translation of the relevant and understandable passages of the Google translation. And I had much fun doing it - so maybe I will be able to "puzzle together" some reviews of this evening's concert again with some help from Google.

TRANSLATION OF THE ARTICLE IN THE NEWSPAPER "EL PAIS" mentioned above:
Coldplay opens Barcelona's great musical 'reentry'
http://www-org.elpais.com/articulo/cataluna/Coldplay/abre/potente/rentree/musical/Barcelona/elpepiespcat/20090903elpcat_7/Tes?print=1
The British band repeat 'Viva la vida' one year later
EL PAÍS - Barcelona - 03/09/2009
Tomorrow - (almost) one year later, to the day, after their memorable journey to Palau Sant Jordi, Coldplay will be in Barcelona with practically the same setlist on their Viva la vida tour in the Lluís Company's stadium. They have sold 63,500 tickets for the concert which will have The Flaming Lips as opening band / warm-up band.
Chris Martin's band will of course play Viva la vida, the song that has sort of developed into a special anthem for the Spanish football team Barcelona aka. Barça which has won 5 cups, as well as some of their classic songs such as Violet Hill and Yellow. The new element is however the British band's particular tribute to Michael Jackson: An acoustic version of Billie Jean.
The Coldplay concert opens a very strong musical reentry. On 14 September 2009, the fathers of heavy metal, Deep Purple, on 19 September Steve Earle, and on 21, Leonard Cohen will be playing Palau Sant Jordi. In the month of October Green Day, Diana Krall, Billi Bragg and the veteran Elton John will pass Barcelona. In November Rammstein, Spandau ballet, Depeche Mode, and the North-American extremely beautiful singer Rickie Lee Jones and Muse will be here. December will start with heavyweights such as Marilyn Manson and Franz Ferdinand .
Translated by Nancy Boysen (with very little help of Google translation tool)
I translated the relevant parts, but skipped the last 5 sentences. :)

I've just arrived home from the concert.
First of all, the sound problems: at Life in Technicolor and Violet Hill there were some problems with the speakers (like little electricity cuts of 1 second), but after that they didn't appear again, maybe later in Strawberry Swing, I don't remember very well. In my place (not the song, more or less 50 meters away the stage) the rest of the concert the sound was OK (at least all you can expect in a big stadium). But it seems that in other parts of the stadium the sound was worse, a lot of people complained about that. Before the encore Chris apologised about that.
The setlist, the same as previous days. Only after Green Eyes, on stage C, they played a song I can't identify. It seemed a traditional song, but I don't know... Maybe someone upload it to youtube and you could find out.

For me the sound was correct almost all the time, but it's true that in other parts of the stadium it wasn't, I heard people saying that when we were leaving it.
The setlist would be a loong discussion. 24 songs may sound fine but you shouldn't count as "normal" songs: God put a smile, Talk, that weird one, The escapist... And another ones are pretty short: Postcards, Death will never conquer ...
I think they already have enough material for a concert of 2:15 - 2:30.
But don't misunderstand me! I'm pretty happy with the show tonight!
I willl look for the positives in my review.....
Will has learnt spanish.... he speaks better spanish than chris I think I am sure he is like me, and has seen the perfect one but she does not speak english... only spanish..
The sound issues where I was seemed very apearant, nad highlighted they were playing a Cd in the background.
75 euros is a lot of money, and its bad that ,was the average price to go in.. why ??
they need to play more music from parachuets... there are some great songs for the fans on there, but something tells me, coldplay can not be botherd, as the other songs from the other albums are way to easy to play...

I was standing, near the left catwalk. They experienced strong problems at the beginning of the concert, that happened when strong light where used => sound problems (no sound and a CRSSSCRCRCR!! sound each time that big lights shined), imagine glass of water with that problem. Suddenly the music volume was lowered in a few songs (I suppose while they where searching where the problem came from), and for more or less two song it was hard to listen Chris,
But then all began to go perfect. I enjoyed this concert a lot although I was very worry for them at the beginning. After this problems all began to sound great.
Don't believe people saying that or this was a shit. I was in the middle of morons (some of that commentaries must come from there, sure :sneaky:) That didn't move or sing. That happened when I saw them a year and a bit ago. The main PA would have Treble go way up and Bass way down one moment. Then the next it was vice versa. It wasn't fixed until Politik though.
I feel sorry for the boys, investing so much in all the cameras only to be done in by botchy sound. It must feel like getting kicked in the nuts and hard.
I enjoyed my show too! Its the important thing.

Still got his neck covered :\
Poor Chris :(
I hate to see his neck covered :\
I thought Billie Jean was one the very few highlights of the gig.
I have been to 6 coldplay concerts now, and this was poor by their standards...
Still also cant get over the price they charged to get in...
The sound problems were not even reconised by the band until someone told them, they should have played Violet Hill again.... as it ruined the song, and showed them up to have a CD running in the background... !
I still love Coldplay, that love will never go away...

not sure what went on last night. but the difficulties with stadium esp. those who are not cut out to be used for gigs that you have area's in the stadium where the sound can sound really bad which the bands most ot the time don't hear so they can be not aware of the problem if nobody tells them.
I mean normally soundchecks sort out this problem but not always or things go wrong on the night...
pricewise I find Coldplay quite resonable compared to other bands/artists. Sometimes is not even the artists which make up those prices as for example I found the ticket prices in germany much more expensive then in England but then in Germany we do have some stupid taxes which are put on the selling prices.
So, the stadium they played last night is this actually used for gigs normally? Don't think U2 played there when they play barcelona?

On a lighter note...I find it always quite refreshing when things go wrong on a long tour stops them from being to comfortable which I had the feeling CP is getting...:)

They use a backing track during VH  I knew they did during songs like VLV but Violet Hill? :\ It should be all band, there's no need.

They use a backing track on almost every song ! (LIT, VH, Cemeteries of London, Stawberry swing, 42, VLV, Lost ...)

I know they use them on the songs where there's sounds they can't recreate live, is pretty damn obvious ;)
I meant I was suprised they used them for songs where there's absolutely no need to.

Hmmm... Violet Hill doesn't seem like a song that they need to use a backing track. It seems quite straightforward, almost every sound can be replicated using 2 guitars, 1 bass and drums...
Whereas songs like LiT... they definitely would need a backing track for the dulcimer sound for example. Or the organs in VLV.
.... the failure of the sound also showed there must have been some sort of communcation problem to the band to let them know the sound fecked up big time... If they knew I am sure they would have stooped...
Or they could not halt the backing track. Both excuxues a very poor too.
I hope the dont make the DVD from Barcelona, it was a poor showing, and I know they will be more up for it at Wembley..

P.
Yesterday the played at the Olympic stadium, and U2 played at the Camp Nou (FC Barcelona stadium). The second one is bigger than the Olympic, 100000 people versus 65000 more or less.
The Olympic is used frequently for big gigs: Madonna last July, AC/DC last June, etc... Camp Nou was the venue last June for the 2 first shows of U2 tour, and Bruce Springsteen played also twice on summer 2008.

backing track for violet hill? WTF?
i think people here are complaining far too much, it was an excellent show and i didn't see any dissapointed person! everybody cheering, standing up and dancing... and the singalong, well, you can hear it in that Billie Jean video...
seriously, what's going on here?

I'm not complaining... I can't because I wasn't @ the show and it definitely won't be fair for me to pass judgement. Just discussing why people would tweet things like 'mega fail' last night and some online reviews (eg 'Billy Jean was shit') which surfaced. I thought Billy Jean was pretty good.
I take your word for it that it was a good show Ed!

BTW, i have to alert everyone that getting the free CDs was a battle! Everybody got a couple or three.. so maybe people who were at first rows in the pit left with no CDs, i don't know... but the delivering was MAD!
Omg they've got sound problem? That's horrible..Both for the band and the audience..
I know the comments were quite harsh, but fom what I've read, the tickets are not that cheap so people were furious when they didn't get what they paid for..
Cant blame them for complaining though..
On the other hand, poor the boys! They (especially Chris as he worries the most) must be really disappointed :\
One more thing..
Still got his neck covered :\
I don't know anything about this..Why is his neck covered?

and there was a bit of disorder, i had tickets for section 123, and since it was the first seating section the view was too side and we couldn't see the screens, so the crew said we could seat in section 120... i wonder what happened with the people that had section 120 tickets.....

Well he always wears scarves before shows anyway, to protect his voice:

But he said he was suffering with a bad throat at the Udine gig and has been wearing them on stage (for the first few songs at least) ever since.

I'm a bit confused about the backing track thing... People are saying they use backing tracks for most songs and that was the problem last night, but surely if the backing tracks were mucking up, the boys would know something had gone wrong as they would be out of time as they played along? Are people there sure it was backing tracks and not just the PA system breaking up? That way the boys probably wouldn't know as they would be playing as normal and only hear themselves through their ear pieces, so not be aware of what was going on. I wasn't there so I'm guessing...
They must be so cross - that was such a big show for them :-(

Thanks Mich..
When a fit man like Chris gets sick continuously, u know it's nearly time for them to take a break.
I was very very near to the stage and the boys definitely noticed the sound problems. Chris looked to the side of the stage several times saying "f*ck" during Violet Hill. After that, the gig was great. I don't understand all the critics. I was standing in the front and it was great. I had friends seated on the sides and they said it was great too. There were a lot of cameras recording the show (6 or 7 only in the main stage!).

True. I think problems wasn't in backing tracks. Problems happened when they forced the big loudspeakers baffle (translation of altavoz?) that where hanged to both sides of the stage. That SSCRRREEE was the typical baffle problem when you force it and it doesn't reach the tone. They don't need to be connect to that big baffle sound to listen themselves playing, then they didn't realise what was happening. Sometimes you are paying and you don't listen the same that people is listening, in a s such a big scenario this problem can be bigger, you have to reach to a lot of people. (My father had a electronic components shop, and my husband plays in a little folk music group for fun :).)

Hi everyone...
This is my first post here, I´am from Barcelona so sorry for my english.
Yesterday I went to my first concert of Coldplay and I was really excited. The concert was great, Chris and the guys were great and sadly I can confirm the sound problems. I was near the stage and seated and the sound was really poor. I couldn´t hardly understand what Chris was saying when he was singing or talking. The last time they played in Barcelona, they did it in Palau Sant Jordi, a place maybe smaller but covered but this time it wasn´t and I think maybe that was the problem, but the people responsible of the sound should have known that.
The people at the end were a little bit sad, but if Coldplay read this, they should know that Barcelona loves them and that we are very grateful that they chose Barcelona again to play live.
We wait for them when they tour again probably with a new CD and in a big stadium as they deserve, but please with bigger loudspeaker lol lol.
