From what I've heard from the short preview this is an absolutely beautiful song. So atmospheric, absolutely love it! :D

Poppy Fields or Prospekts March, this song is just beautiful. I can't wait to hear the whole thing so I can cry.

The sound of Chris's vocals blow me away in this preview. When I first listened to VLV I was kind of so-so about his singing, particluarly in tracks like cemeteries of london and lovers in Japan, but in Poppy Fields it sounds so amazingly rich and beautiful.

That lyric is from Poppy Fields.

The preview listed it as "Prospekt's March" clearly however

It's a double track - Prospekt's March/Poppy Fields.

Poppy Fields sounds amazing however!

Cant wait for Prospekt's March! Both of them.

I don't think it's poppy fields.

I think it is Prospekt's March.
Reason:
On: http://wiki.coldplaying.com/index.php/Poppy_Fields there is a little lyrical line.
It is in the Viva La Vida booklet.
BUT in the booklet is Prospekt's March and PoppyFields behind eachother.
So probably they already knew it would be a double track, and so the lyrical line is for Prospekt's March.

Same as for Glass Of Water.
At the right image you see Glass Of Water, however they told us that they finished the song at 4 october.
But they already done it earlyer?

They had the plans already for those songs I think.

^ very much agreed. absolutely. famazing.

it's such a refreshing sound. it doesn't hurt my head to listen to, it's not too heavy, it's so relaxing and just right on a calm summer evening just as the sun goes down and the clouds turn pink in the sky... :dozey: maybe even spending some time with a lover of yours in a calm, wonderful summer evening such as that.

by far the best of the previews. if glass of water was as good as it was live i would've said that. but its not. chris's voice sounds week. so this is my favorite. so excited!!!

I still think the preview is the Poppy Fields part of the track.
If so, The Goldrush = Prospekt's March (work in progress title).
I talks about Prospektors and talks about marching.

The Sun preview? :surprised:

yeah!

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article1915267.ece

The title track is woozily psychedelic with guitars gently chiming and strings sweeping.

Chris asks: “Don’t you wish your life could be as simple as fish swimming round in a barrel when you’ve got the gun?”

I was so moved by that little part of the song I've heard. I had my magical, good old "Coldplay feeling"; a feeling only Coldplay's music can give me - kind of a euforic state. I had it the first times I heard Speed of Sound, which was the song that made me in love with Coldplay and with other songs too.

kmm1482
19-11-2008, 07:24 PM
the song we hear on the preview IS poppyfields. I've heard the actual Prospekts March, it's chris and a guitar, the preview I heard him sing had:

'People talkin without speakin
tryin to take what they can get'
'I ask you if you remember
Prosekt how could I forget'

Famous Old Painter

You sure? Cause to me the two previews go together perfectly. They must be the same song and I think they're both Prospekt's March.

It's 3:39, I thought. Still short for two tracks, though.

I'd prefer one song to 2 tiiiiny songs (they've already upset me with that for Postcards) particularly seeing how epic the previews sound.

Famous Old Painter

This song breaks my heart.

It's too short! It feels like it's going to burst into the greatest most beautiful thing ever and then it just stops!

But it's still an amazing song. My pick of the EP.

By the way we know now that it's not a double track, so is Poppy Fields just an alternative name for Prospekts March? I dont think they've been on the same list as eachother unless mentioned as a double. Either that or Poppys got dropped at the last minute.

Hermes_tri
20-11-2008, 09:17 AM
mm..dont think its too short, on a line "I dont wanna die here tonight" I am in ecstasy.

20-11-2008, 01:15 PM
The full song of this is a major disappointment

considering how utterly beautiful Prospekts March is, Poppyfields does not need to be there - at least give us an extended instrumental or something

my gripe about the whole album really, could have just dispersed these tracks as B-sides to singles - I've bought every Coldplay album so far but I wont be buying this EP

I LOVE this song, probably my favourite acoustic guitar-flavoured song by them. Its so atmospheric and beautiful, and even slightly haunting - and that part at the end is just as essential as the rest of the song in my opinion. I just love it so much :D

Kinda reminds me of a calmer, more beautiful version of AROBTTH (the song), and it does sound a bit mid-70s era Pink Floyd, but that just makes all the more awesome for me :P
Oh how i wish they made more songs like this.

I hope and think that they will start playing this live with an extended outro, freaking out.. Many bands tends to skip the "heavy" parts on studio versions for some reason. A good example is "About Today" by The National, which on the EP (Cherry Tree) is quite mellow and not so "heavy" whereas the live version has an absolutely awesome heavy outro which last for like 5-6 minutes. Well, another example is GPASYF which has a lame outro on ARBTTH and a kick-ass one live (please, scrap the disco thing....:S)

So, a rock-the-hell-out-outro, and it's a great live song in my opinion

I love this song sooooooooooo much. It's so damn beautiful. :bigcry: I love the softness and the acoustic, it makes me think of Parachutes and I've been really missing that sound recently. I really really love Chris's voice on it too. I think it might end up being my favorite song on the EP, although I feel like I need to wait before I really know. LiTii (and possibly also Now My Feet Won't Touch The Ground) is a tough competitor. Like many others, I feel like it should have been longer, but oh well really, what can you do...

What I meant to say, that this song has successfully found it's way int my top 10 Coldplay songs, which is dominated by older songs. I love the ending with Poppyfields.
