I am clearly in love with this song. I have had it on repeat since i heard it. So damn beautiful. David Rossi has new respect for me....I thought the strings in Strawberry Swing and Yes were amazing, but man just too beautiful!
"OH RAINY DAY COME ROUND!"

Im trying but certain parts where he sings low i get lost
And there was dream,
The sky wore a viel of gold and green,
At night it was the bright of the moon with me,
And time just floated
Then there was rain,
The sound foundation was crumbling
To the ground comes a bit of a tumbling,
And time was just floating,
And we can watch it and stay,
And we can listen
Oh rainy day come round,
Sometimes I just want it to slow down,
And we're seperating now,
And down,
And I love it when you come over to the house,
I love it when you come over to my house
Thats how i hear it

It's a further example of how much they've experimented and improved in recording the last album. I imagine they had numerous brainstorm sessions where they came up with random new ideas to fit into these songs like the bridge we heard on this preview.

Same here! Although I teared up cos I asked the glass a romantic question, and the riddle came up with 'son, don't ask' and then the first song was Rainy Day, haha. I took it as a bad omen. Either that, or I'll meet someone in the rainy season!!
It's a gorgeous song, though. They need to bring Rossi to the stage.

I find it kind of Radiohead-ish
For some reason it reminds me of "Everything In Its Right Place"

i honestly think this song became wat it was because of david rossi

I find it coldplayish lol only because even though this album is completely different from there "usual" sound...When you listen closely you can tell that its coldplay to the core!

^ I disagree, from what I've heard, I'd say it's arguably the best track on the EP. How can people say it's a copy of VLV, just cause of the violin? Using that logic, just about every rock song ever written is a copy because they all have guitar/drums/lyrics etc.
I LOVE RAINY DAY :)

Definately one of Coldplay's most experimental tracks.
The intro - wow, that took me by surprise. :o
Chris's vocals are kind hard to listen to, I wish they hadnt put all those effects on.
The aaaaaaaaahs at the end are amazing though.

Rainy day was my favorite after the preview and the full version just confirmed it.
It's the most 'weird' song they have ever wrote but it's simply brilliant!! The intro is so bizarre but I just can't help to love it!!
the beat is just genious (Guy bass line is so groovy !!), the sound effects, Chris voice... This song make me SO HAPPY!! I just wanna dance !! I would give anything to hear it live!! Boys, if you read me, please, next time you come in France, play it!!!!
Then there was rain

This is now my favorite song of all time, not just Coldplay song.
Chris' vocals, the strings, Jonny's riff throughout the song and especially at the end when it's isolated, is levitating, I'm weightless, gravity gone, feet off the ground. His best work in my opinion, yeah let's dance:dance:

I think it is saying:
"Then there was rain
And I spent the night with the Queen of Spain
My lonely little heart would've broke again
Times were vicious, say
Singing, deeper than the knife goes in before you win

I'm talking about the little mumbling just before the song beginns (at 0min9 sec). It's coming from someone in the background (maybe Guy 'cause of the accent) but I can't understand what he's mumbling... So is anyone who can?

Good news guys! after hours and hours of listening to this song non-stop on full volume and trying to extract the lyrics out without the music and inspecting it carefully, I have come up with the lyrics! Now It might not be exactly what Chris sings and so there could be bits that everybody is unsure about, but this version is probably the best anybody could come up with:P:
Rainy day
Then there was dream
The sky wore a veil of gold and green
At night it was the bright of the moon with me
Time was just floating
Then there was rain
The sound foundations are crumbling
To the ground comes a bit of a tumbling
And time was just floating
We can watch it and stay
And we can listen
Oh rainy day, come 'round
Sometimes i just want it to slow down
And we're separated now
And down
But i love when you come over to the house
I love it when you come over to my house
Then there was rain,
I spent the night with the queen of Spain
My lonely little heart would've broke again
Time’s so vicious
Say
"So then the deeper than the knife goes in, the more you win
You end up with less than when you begin.
Deeper than the knife goes in..."
Oohhh!
Oh rainy day, come 'round
Sometimes i just want it to slow down
And we're separated now
And down
But i love when you come over to the house
I love it when you come over to my house

'Rainy Day' is a NICE song...
I have a thought, though, that it will definitely be included in the setlist when they tour Australia... This is how it'll go on the night. Chris will make a joke about the current drought in oz, and then say we should all join in in singing 'Rainy Day' in an attempt at a rain-dance-thingy.
It would go down well in my books.
