Damn, I am going to be at school in Western MA. 2 hour drive to TD banknorth and it would be on a school night. Likelihood is unprobable. :( At least I had the experience of a lifetime for the first one.

That's really too bad because I would've loved to be able to go a second time. :(

On the other hand, I did get a first time this time around. :)

College - UMass Amherst. I just transferred too. The worse part is that the other school I was accepted into as a transfer, Northeastern, is 4 miles away! I wanted to go to NEU so bad but its just too much damn money. Oh well. I am content with savoring their performance of The Scientist just feet away.

Wonder how much they will mix up the setlist.

Last time I got tickets to their recent show here, it was so damn hard, and my seats were not the greatest. Ticketmaster took so long to load, everytime, I was afraid next time I'd re-load it would give me shittier tickets so I ended up just buying the ones I had. Did anyone find a good or better method for getting good seats??? I hate how we real fans get shity tickets cause of people who only wanna go because they think yellow was a cool song.

Nar1117
15-08-2008, 03:23 PM
So ticketmaster was slightly annoying, but I got tickets. I tried to get good floor seats, so my first try came up with seats in the very back of the floor... obviously I couldn't accept that so I tried again and after my 4 minute wait time they were all gone on the floor. So I settled for lower-level seats in Section 8... not exactly the closest but at least I'll have a good view of the stage. This'll be number 3 for me! So excited.

Nar1117

I hear ya. The floor is really only good if you are in the front third, closest to the stage. Other than that it gets kinda annoying.

I agree, it seems impossible to get great seats anymore from ticketdisaster.
I've been trying since ten on the dot and only get offered crappy seats. Mind you I would take them if it was my first or second concert but since this would of been my 7th time since 2003 I would really like to be up as close as possible. Out of the 6 times I've seen them so far, buying a total of 29 tickets for myself and kids, I estimate I've spent over $4000.00 on Coldplay! Not to mention of course the "convenience" charges. So, unless I somehow get great seats, have a great time I'm sure it will be a blast.

masterkraig
15-08-2008, 04:30 PM
I slept in til 10:30, checked and barely anything left >.<

But there's LOGE 15 and 20, to the side of each stage, but I'm not sure if a "rear view" will be worth it =\

They do exite right underneath LOGE20 :O

101penny101
15-08-2008, 04:38 PM
I was in Loge 20 last time, very good seats but I'm not seeing them offered yet. All I get is balcony and occasionally loge 5. I would be happy with loge 20 again.

^ Yeah, because about a million ruddy ticket brokers and people who just want to make a profit
scarf up all the good seats before the TRUE REAL fans can get a chance to see them....
And when they do see them, they're going for 3 x's the original price..

The best i got for floor was Floor H, row 6...
And Loge 10, row 9....

Was there trying as soon as 10 am rolled around. Don't know how you guys managed to get good loge seats or floor seats all that kept coming up for me when I put in loge or floor were none available. When I put in best available I got loge a couple of time but sec 7 and 8, up high, way too far away IMHO. Floor NEVER came up no matter what I asked for.

After and hour of dicking around and typing those stupid secirty thingys I ended up back in the balcony yet again. but at least closer to the stage in section 302

It just occured to me that Loge 10 should be great but cause isn't that the general area where they popped up for the busking/acoustic short set?

Not to be a worrier here :\, but I've been snooping around for tix
and I noticed that StubHub and those other ticket places have seats in the first 3 sections that claim
to go out as far as "Row 9, 10, 11, 12".

Originally I thought it was because the tickets weren't legit, but now I'm starting to wonder...there's at least several up for sale like that. Hmmm...

I thought that sections A,B,C only have 7 rows....
Can anyone confirm the seating for the show?
(I don't really see why they would change it from last time)

You will have great line of site to the stage, particularly the ramp on Guy's side.

I was in the section to your left, 301, row 9 the last show on 8/4 and they were way better views than I thought they were going to be. Originally I was bummed about being in the balcony but honestly you get to see it all, the big projection globes, the big screen. I think you will be surprised how "close" you will feel from that section and row.

Also a tip:

If you can, get there early, before the openers. We were there early and we saw two groups of fans from our section get ticket upgrades from staffers of Coldplay. One was a group of 4 and one a couple. We watched them get approached by someone with "tags" and then leave their seats and get walked down to the floor where they has second row seats right in front of the stage. It is a totally random happening but hey, you never know, you could get lucky.

Enjoy the show!

^ It wasn't Matthew Miller (Roadie #42) by any chance was it?
Because based on his blog, he often goes to the balcony seats to hand out tickets for the first 5 rows.
I saw him on the stage that night, albeit briefly during the set-up for coldplay,
and then I didn't see him AT ALL the rest of the time.
I figured he'd gone to do his balcony ticket hand-out run...

EDIT: Thanks Collee for that info. So Miller has some accomplices! :inquisitive:

Collee
18-08-2008, 01:22 PM
Nope, it wasn't Miller. Actually it was two different people each time, each was a male, making two visits to our section about 1/2 hour apart. But it was not Matthew Miller. I've been following Miller's blog on the official site so I was actually keeping an eye out for him too.

is duffy scheduled to be the opener? because *warning* - I just saw her play a festival slot (essentially an opening gig) - she was due to be on 430-515, didn't come on until 510 (because apparently she has so much equipment to soundcheck - she had a 45 minute slot for her soundcheck, went over by another forty-five minutes), and then proceeded to be incredibly boring, annoying, and rude with her banter. Came out to an audience who had waited an extra 40 minutes in the blazing hot sun and preceded to play two extremely slow, low energy songs, and tell us that we weren't clapping enough. of course we weren't, we had nothing to clap for.

so in short she was late, rude, boring, and really way over hyped, not to mention the fact that she fucked up the schedule for everyone else on the stage. Be careful. Show up for an opener that's interesting and passionate, at least (santogold).

Does anyone know what happened to Floor A, B, and C for the Oct 29th show?

Last time, these sections were available in the Ticketmaster auction.... this time they weren't available in the ticketmaster auction, nor in the regular sale...

I saw on places like StubHub and AceTickets that they have a just a couple of tickets available in A and B, but only in rows 10-12 or so.. and they are going for something like $900 a piece.

I already bought some decent Loge tickets, so I'm good to go.... but I was looking forward to the opportunity of at least bidding on those front and center suckers.

Just curious if anyone knows what happened to these seats/sections. Wondering if they were held for special guests or sold to another private ticket selling company or something..........called Ticketmast to ask but they aren't talking...

Collee
18-08-2008, 05:09 PM
My guess is that they may have gone to the band and to promoters. You know, all those freebies the radio stations and such give away?

Sure is a lot of tickets to go missing though.

^ Be careful of those StubHub tickets. I'm not sure if they are REAL seats.
Last time Coldplay played at the Garden, sections A,B, and C only had 7 Rows (I think).
And last time there were people on StubHub claiming to have tickets in those sections for Rows 9, 10, etc. :\

So if the seating hasn't changed from the August 4th show, then those are definitely fake tickets.

And I agree with Collee, they most likely went to radio stations. A bunch of stations were/are having contests to win tickets.
Also, some of those sweet seats are held and then the roadies for Coldplay hand them out to people in the Balcony sections before the show!

EDIT: Actually, I think there were 10 rows in sections A,B,C. I just found a picture and counted at least 10 rows.
Nevertheless, I'm going to contact TD Banknorth about the number of seat rows.

Just upgraded my seats through the TicketMaster auction. Not bad, LOGE 22, row 8, seats 11-10. Much closer than the balcony sec 302 row 8.

I was pleasantly surprised with the auction, although waiting 2 weeks to see what you'd end up with for ticket groups was rather nerve wreaking

Second encore would be so lovely.
And yes, I got my lovely butterflies from member 2732 through the butterfly exchange thread.

I thought about trying to run in to the floor on my way out to grab up a handful of butterflies but the friend I was with was too chicken and didn't want to split up and lose me in the crowd.

Maybe this time I can manage some first hand.

Even though this concert is over a month away I am just sooooooooo excited to get to see them again and so soon after the terrific Boston gig on 8/4. Unbelievable!

Tickets sold. Thanks !

Hey Coldplayers local to the Boston area. Since I managed to land some nice loge tickets for the show on the 29th I've got 2 extra tickets to offer up for sale. They are Balcony 203 Row 8, first 2 seats in the row, seats 1 & 2.

They are listed on StubHub for $140.00 a ticket. Basically that's my cost plus the 20% surcharge Stubhub charges the seller (me) if they sell.

I can give you a better price if you want to deal directly with me but if you feel safer you can buy them through StubHub.

They are listed here >>> http://www.stubhub.com/coldplay-tickets/?ticket_id=151311703

BostonSportsTD, I agree with you about "Politik". Such a powerful song.
I don't think that they'll take it off the setlist though. They just can't! It'd be like taking "Yellow" off.

Well, there are 352 listings many are for pairs of tickets, although some are for larger blocks, and a few are singles.

So lets "guestimate" that stubhub has about 1000 tickets for that show. Considering that the TD Bank North Garden seats can seat up to 19,580 that's not too bad. Still have a bit more than a week for those to sell so I bet it will be close to an actual sell out.

shirts were $40 on average up here in Toronto / Ottawa.. Cameras weren't a problem whatsoever up here either. At Ottawa they didn't even do any sort of check - they opened the doors and everyone just trickled in as they scanned tickets. I didn't see a single person stopped or checked (bags and backpacks included). I saw people with P&S cameras as well as SLR cameras.. Had I known it was that relaxed I would have brought my own SLR with zoom lens instead of my small sony P&S :)

Another thing - the concert in general is dark so pics are a hit and miss... As for time - they typically come on between 8:45pm and 9pm.

YMMV

Boston Celtics one day, Coldplay and Oxfam the next.

Last night I watched the Boston Celtics NBA World Championship banner be raised to the rafters, inside the TD Banknorth Garden. They beat the Cleveland Cavaliers (whose arena we were in the other day), to open the new season. Today, the Coldplay lights, rigging, screens, confetti canons, amp-stacks, PA, and huge inflatable spheres, are being slowly raised towards the roof of this famous arena.

This is the first time that we have returned to exactly the same place, on two separate occasions, so far this tour. Boston was the last show before Japan, last time out in North America. Now we are back. Familiar surroundings. The band must have really enjoyed that show. If the atmosphere is anything similar to the basketball last night, it’s going to be another day for the earplugs later.

This time Oxfam still has another 16 shows in North America, after this one, to look forward to. No trip to Japan until February this time...

The Boston Celtics. NBA World Champions. Coldplay. Possibly the world’s biggest band right now. Oxfam. Working towards ending poverty world-wide. Amazing stuff.

Went up to our balcony seats and sat in a section that tickets wernt sold for ( it was the balcony section that was next to us) we sat in the front row and a man with the show pulled us aside and gave us 3rd row floor seats. Chris saw my sign and liked right at me. As for merch I got the viva la vida hoodie and I love it! Amazing show amazing night ;-)

Just got home! The show was INCREDIBLE!!! They sounded amazing and seemed to have just as much energy and enthusiasm as when I saw them back in August. No surprises set list-wise, basically the same as what they've been doing, however I really liked the changes they made since they were here in August. Chris doing "The Hardest Part" as a piano solo was a highlight for me. He sounded amazing both on the piano and vocally. Just beautiful. I don't get why he sounds so off on TV...he's amazing live! He said "THP" and "The Scientist" were Hall & Oates songs that they ruined or something. haha He dedicated "The Scientist" as a "romantic song to the Governor of Alaska"! And then went on to tell us to vote for Barack Obama (the crowd cheered of course and booed at the Palin reference) and he said he knew he could safely say that here without being assasinated!

One really nice addition from the last Boston show were video screens everywhere so we could watch them close-up. Very nice!

I got to get to bed soon, but I just wanted to say that the show was amazing!

Coldplay puts on one hot live show

Coldplay’s the biggest band in the world? How is that even possible?

It’s not the lite rock radio hits or monochromatic albums that make Coldplay rock champions. It’s the live show. And everybody at last night’s sold-out TD Banknorth Garden (http://news.bostonherald.com/search/?topic=Banknorth+Garden) shows knows that.

Chris Martin’s got a rock star bio - married to starlet, kid with weird name, known the world over - he just doesn’t have Bono’s ego. But he doesn’t need it. In front of thousands, he’s (almost) got Bono’s charisma.

The band began with “Life in Technicolor,” but life didn’t go from black and white to high-def until “Clocks.” Louder and brighter than on the album, the song was the starting gun for a show with a shockingly furious pace.

“In My Place” jolted the audience into a singalong that lasted an hour and a half and had Martin whirling and bouncing around the stage like a top. When Mr. Paltrow wasn’t pounding out piano chords, he was sprinting and shouting and dancing and collapsing in (maybe) mock exhaustion.

Throughout the night, songs flattened on albums were inflated into stadium rock: “Cemeteries of London,” “Fix You” and the expected encore “Yellow” became fat hooks that elated fans.

And for a band with a blah reputation, it took loads of live risks.

The electro set of “God Put a Smile Upon Your Face” and “Talk” had the whole band at the end of a catwalk including drummer Will Champion on electronic kit. The sound hiccups helped make it chaotically un-Coldplay.

The acoustic set had the band popping up in middle of the audience in some lower loge seats.

Coldplay didn’t sell out the Garden for the second time this year because of a few hits. The band did it because they legitimately rock.

Opener Duffy - the latest female retro soul singer - overcame some early sound problems to put on a decent show.

Hi Jessie! Was that you on the floor near Guys ramp with your sign. We had loge seats row 8 on that side too, just a bit further down, just opposite the b-stage. I do think I saw you, least I saw some one with that sign!! ( I really need glasses, lol!)

I think no full coldplaying reviews and set lists yet because it's a week day and all us poor concert goers have school or work today so came home and headed to bed. I will post some pictures later, looks like I got some good ones. Here are a few random post concert thoughts...

I'm a big fan of the song "Yes" and was ready to be disappointed when it didn't make it on the set list BUT since they included Cemetaries of London, it was a great trade.

The Acoustic version of "The Hardest Part" was stunningly beautiful. It should have been released in that form.

The extra video screens and use of the magic balls just gets better and better. The tech on this show is so well done.

Chris's repeatedly riffing on Hall and Oats was typical Chris randomness and we love him for it.

Don't hate me but I thought Yellow as the encore wasn't the best choice. Would have fit better earlier in the set, say just before b-stage.

The crowd was LOUD, and coldplay fans are the best. I sat next to a lovely young couple who had homemade t-shirts and rocked hard the entire concert. You get energy from a crowd like that and it can make the night.

What were the problems that occured during the techno "Got Put A Smile On Your Face"/"Talk" Techno Medley? I didn't notice (apparently I'm one of those non-musical experts Chris referred to!). Did something happen with Will?

I want to say that this was the setlist:

Life In Technicolor
Violet Hill
Clocks
In My Place
Speed Of Sound
Cemeteries Of London
Chinese Sleep Chant
42
Fix You
Strawberry Swing
God Put A Smile Upon Your Face (techno version)
Talk (techno remix)
The Hardest Part (piano - Chris)
Postcards From Far Away (piano instrumental)
Viva La Vida
Lost!
The Scientist (acoustic)
Death Will Never Conquer (acoustic - Will singing)
Viva La Vida (remix interlude) : I liked the old "Talk" one better!

First Encore
Politik
Lovers In Japan
Death And All His Friends

Second Encore
Yellow : I agree that this worked better in the middle like last time w/ Death as the final song, but whatever. Still good!
The Escapist (exit music)

Quote from Reign of Love:
"What were the problems that ocurred during the techno "Got Put A Smile On Your Face"/"Talk" Techno Medley? I didn't notice (apparently I'm one of those non-musical experts Chris referred to!). Did something happen with Will?"

Yes, I think it was with Will's earpiece.
We were seated right next to the b-stage 8 rows up in the loge there. Will was tapping his earpiece during the talk portion. When he wasn't singing he was gesturing and looking down and mouthing something to the tech guys on the floor near the b-stage so I think it was a problem with him being able to hear.

Really couldn't say it flawed the songs though, I thought the b-stage set was lovely, particularly Chris doing "The Hardest Part" out there by himself.

Thanks for the set list!!!!

It was funny watching all the fans, particulaly the gang on the floor, get all hyped up over "The Blue Danube", a classical waltz which was the piece that played just before the boys took the stage. Fun!

It was a great night, I saw them in Hartford earlier this summer, the sound at the Garden was much better. We were up top in S318 at the side and slightly behind the stage, so we got to see them behind the curtain performing Life in Technicolour, right away they were having so much fun jamming I knew it was going to be a great show. Very funny that Chris called Sarah Palin a Superbabe and made another Jonas Brothers joke.

ps. sorry for no review- tough on a weekday- but I liked the show better than in August.... I was happy with the songs that got traded in / out of the setlist, thought the energy was better- technical improvements were many - big video display on the back had some neat effects.. I actually liked Yellow at the end... concert felt kind of unfinished at the end last time.... still too short for my book though! needed 3-4 more old songs

kellykell9
30-10-2008, 03:04 PM
The show was great, I agree, I think it was better than Augusts show. They seemed to be a little tighter, a little more energenic (is that possible???)

I hadn't been reading the newer setlists, so I kept wondering when they were going to play Viva la Vida, last time they put it right at the beginning, so it was great to have it closer to the end.

I had much better seats than I did last time, and a much better view. Concerts are so emotional for me, I'm not sure why, but I always get choked up during concerts, NOT ALL OF THEM, but Coldplay does it for me. Especially at the beginning when the first song kicks in.

The crowd was full of energy. My only complaint was the 2 mothers and young daughters in my row going in and out, in and out, in an out....drives me crazy. JUST STAY STILL!!!

Hi everyone!

I'm a new member to this site and was at the Boston show last night. I was in Section 9 (Loge), the next section over from where the band did their little acoustic set. I saw your sign, Jessie!

My review, x-posted from my LJ:
Coldplay was awesome. I'd heard that their SNL performance was weak, so I was a little worried, but it turned out I didn't need to worry at all. The guys were in top form and Chris talked to the audience a lot. He seems like a really sweet guy. He asked a boy how old he was and when the boy said he was 12, Chris asked "Are you a Jonas Brother?" He said "We don't feel like an old band, we're only in our 30s, but we keep getting kicked off the charts by teenagers."

They did most of the tracks from Viva La Vida, a few from X&Y, a few from A Rush of Blood[...] and ended with "Yellow." I would have liked to hear them do the full version of "Talk," and I'm not sure that they did any of "Square One," which was supposed to be included in a medley. They did play "Fix You," which made me sniffly.

So, I didn't get a floor seat, but I wasn't in the nosebleed section either. ;) My seat ended up being better than I thought it would be, because the band came up to do a mini-acoustic set about 3 rows over from where I was sitting! I'll see if I can find a picture to post of that.

During the acoustic session, Chris dedicated "The Scientist" to Sarah Palin. *giggle*

All in all, I'm glad I went.

/review

Despite having known about them for years, I'm pretty late to the Coldplay fan bandwagon. :embarassed:

It's hard to dislike someone who's determined to please you. So for all you Coldplay haters - and your numbers are strong - here's a bit of advice: See the band live before you judge.

No one wants you to love Coldplay more than lead singer Chris Martin. With a perpetual bounce in his step, he worked hard at TD Banknorth Garden last night, bounding like a clumsy toddler down the two side stages that led into the audience. On the swooping chorus of "In My Place," he swept his arms out to the crowd, midriff exposed, as if he had just hit a home run.

And when the house lights came on so he could get a good look at his loyal subjects, you got the genuine feeling this was where he belonged - and wanted to be. He also thanked everyone for selling out the Garden again just two months after Coldplay's last show at the venue.

And the music? Shockingly good. Martin is the backbone of Coldplay, but the quartet gets its flesh and blood from drummer Will Champion, bassist Guy Berryman, and especially lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, whose solos on "Green Eyes" and "42" added dimension and unlikely textures.

Coldplay has solved the age-old dilemma of how to make a stadium feel like a living room. Its solution: play somewhere where your audience least expects it - and far from the front row. At one point, the band bolted to a surprise spot halfway up the Garden and launched a mini acoustic set.

Martin then offered an odd preface to "The Scientist": "This is a romantic song about the governor of Alaska." Once the boos died down, his retort was decidedly more crass: "Politics aside, she's a [expletive] superbabe!"

Earlier in the evening, as a makeshift side stage materialized, the quartet huddled close for "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face," which bled into a snippet of "Talk." That gave way to Martin's solo piano rendition of "The Hardest Part" (made famous by Hall & Oates, "and we made it less famous," Martin cracked).

But the heartfelt sentiment was over soon enough, as the intro to "Viva la Vida," the big hit and title track from the band's latest album, thundered out of the speakers and launched the requisite sing-along.

That dazzling showmanship made opener Duffy seem just that. Like a '50s pin-up plucked from a Phil Spector recording session, she slinked onstage in shiny red heels to the opening chords of her breakthrough hit, "Rockferry." The young Welsh singer got down and dirty on "Delayed Devotion" and "Mercy," but even they couldn't mask a voice that was often paper-thin and borderline shrill.

Quick Highlights:
- Duffy was great!

- Chris' electric guitar fluke during "God Put A Smile..." lol, he switched to piano and commented (humorously) about it afterwards.
- Will's earpiece malfunction. He was laughing with Jonny.
- Chris dedicating "The Scientist" to "the Alaskan governor" and the massive boos from the crowd. The he called Palin a "f*cking hot superbabe"!!!! :laugh3:
- Oh there is so much more. but i need sleep...ZZZzzzz sleep satisfies.

I saw you Jesse dancing when the rap song came on and holding up your sign! Just awesome! Coldplayers unite!!!!

And when "Blue Danube" came on, I was SPAZZING OUT! I did this whole Symphony conductor arm motion thing because I knew they were coming on right after that song!
And sure enough, "Life In Technicolour" started and I saw the boys (in the dark with some camera flashes) troop in and go up onto the stage. I could see them behind the curtain, bouncing about and soaking everything in. It was unreal!

Hey everyone! the concert was beyond words.
to start, duffy was a great opener.
she is a great welsh artist and has definitely helped bring back the 40s/50s/60s motown music back. and she is much cleaner than the infamous amy winehouse.
but more importantly.
COLDPLAY WAS AMAZING!! i have been to multiple concerts and this was my first coldplay concert and it was amazing.
so much energy. great people. the band = amazing.
they are the beatles of our age. i was thinking about it during "the scientist", and when i am like 45 i hope they are around just like the rolling stones.
their music and words are everlasting and chris is awesome. he seems like such an awesome dude. i wish i could meet him haha
when they come back to the area i will be there yet again :D
thank god they came back to boston since the first time i wasn't able to go and now i am so happy. this band is just so unreal. like their lyrics are so relatable and interesting you just get hooked on them. After this show, i am an official coldplay groupie. haha
it was great to hear everyone stories and i saw some of you guys! (the girl with butterfly clips and jessie with his sign)
coldplay.. the world's greatest band of the 21st century. enough said.

HOLY MOLY COLDPLAY!!!!!!!!
LAST NITE WAS SOOOOOO 10000000x's AMAZING!

I'll write a longer review later.

But for now, I SAW YOUR SIGN JESSE!!!!!
DID YOU SEE MY MUM AND ME? We had 2 signs: one with
"Reign of Coldplay
Lovers In Boston" with the other side
"VIVA La Guy, Will, Chris, J:heart:nny Boy!"

and then a mini-sign with
"Butterflies in Boston
Thanks for the Replay Coldplay"

I even got a picture of you holding your sign during "Lovers In Japan" when Chris came by. He saw both of our signs!!!!!!

I AM JUST SOOOO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!!! AHHH!!!!!! THANK YOU EVERYONE, COLDPLAY, esp. THE ROADIES, TRUE FANS, EVERYONE!!!!!!
I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST FROM MY HEART!

Quick Highlights:
- After Duffy played, I saw Miller. He saw my Roadie sign and smiled.
- A bunch of other Roadies (sorry I don't know your names) saw the Roadie sign and thought it was awesome!!!!!!!
- Tom Hamilton, bass player of "Aerosmith", stood in front of us for a few minutes and we talked with him!!!!!!!!
- Chris saw us with the signs! I think he said something to Jonny and he, Jonny, and Guy all went over and played by Guy's ramp, right near us.
I saw Guy smirk a little and Jonny smiled at our signs. Chris jumped up when he saw us and said "Oh, hohoho! Wow! This is how we like to spend our Wednesdays"!!!!!! He's soooo sweet and incredibly nice!!!!
You can see the vid for it here: YouTube - Coldplay - In My Place - Boston Garden - 10/29/2008 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPLSGID6ftI)

LOVE TO PEOPLE WHO WILL PLEASE KINDLY POST THEIR PICS, VIDS, MEMORIES, AND EVERYTHING!
THANK YOU!!!!! I can't say that enough!

YAY EMILY! That is so cool! What did your roadie sign say?

Ah and the band all saw your signs! Where were your seats again?

I'm so happy for you!!!!!

Did you succeed with your stalking? :wink3:

Yes! That was a neat touch. :)

He really did go out of his way to make us feel special. I appreciate artists who do that.

Excerpt from the 45th BLOG OF ROADIE #42: Talking of roadies, I have to mention a rather lovely "Roadies Rock" banner with the names of several of the longest serving crew on it. How on earth do these people know? The banner's creators shouted to me (by name) as I made my way under the stage for pre-show checks. I have to admit I'm far too shy to know what to do besides smile - but thanks!

^ HOLY MOLY!!!
MILLER MENTIONED MY ROADIE SIGN IN HIS BLOG!!!!
 THANK YOU R#42!!!!! WE LOVE YOU ROADIES!!!

Finally, last Wednesday was the pinnacle of my week: I went to the Coldplay concert at the TD Banknorth Garden, Boston's auditorium and home of the Boston Celtics. It was one of the greatest concerts I've seen and I didn't stand still for the whole two hours they played. Not only was the music so loud that you could feel the floor vibrating, but the energy of Chris Martin and the band was beyond belief. Chris Martin was rolling around the staging, running, jumping and sweating a ton. He looked exhausted after the first song, but somehow managed to keep his energy up throughout the whole show, which included an acoustic set on a side stage in the middle of the auditorium and a cool remix of some of their older songs. They played their entire Viva La Vida album and most of their hits from their other albums (including Clocks, my favorite song of their's, Speed of Sound, Fix You, Yellow, The Hardest Part, God Put a Smile on Your Face, Politik, etc.). It was hugely worth the money I paid for the ticket, and I haven't stopped wearing my $35 Viva La Vida tour t-shirt since. :) Amar (the guy I went to the concert with) and I have already decided that if they come back to Boston next year on a new tour, we'll be one of the first in line for tickets. A highly recommended concert to see if they are coming to your area!

Coldplay Brings Life to The Garden

Just months after the Spice Girls took their final bow onstage, yet another British invasion swept the TD Banknorth Garden last night as Coldplay and opener Duffy delivered liveliness and hysteria with their Viva La Vida Tour.

Duffy managed to keep things mellow throughout her soulful set including "Rockferry" and current single "Stepping Stone." But the bluesy singer got flirtatious, kicking up her glittering red shoes, when belting out her popular ditty "Mercy" to the anxious crowd.

After much anticipation the main attraction finally made their entrance, opening with the grungy "Violet Hill" off their latest effort Viva La Vida, or Death and All His Friends. Coldplay continued the explosive energy with performances of "Clocks," "Speed of Sound," and "Cemeteries of London."

Throughout the night frontman Chris Martin bounced eccentrically around the stage and swapped his role as lead vocalist for guitar, piano, and harmonica sessions. Even drummer Will Champion ditched his drumsticks for a microphone singing the brief "Death Will Never Conquer."

The hugely successful band also scored points for fan interaction providing playful banter onstage about their love for Beantown (this being their second outing in the last three months). Things also got political after Martin dedicated a song to Sarah Palin then quickly recanted with "Vote Obama." Even the Jonas Brothers popped up in conversation when Martin quipped that the band has felt "old" ever since the curly mopped trio hit the music scene.

Capping off the superb night was the back-to-back performances of the foot stomping "Lost!" and "Viva La Vida;" the latter of the two got nearly the entire audience chanting every last word in perfect harmony as confetti snowed down upon them.

With an encore of "Yellow" and a collective bow, Coldplay closed the Boston chapter of their Viva La Vida Tour thanking everyone for their Wednesday evening. And with that the show ended as did the euro-hysteria that erupted moments earlier in the now lifeless Garden.

All I can say is fantastic! Joelle and I had so much fun last night.I've been fighting off a cold so I was hoping I would be good to go for the concert, and I totally was (today is another story)! I haven't been to a concert since I was pregnant with Nathan (John Legend and I had never heard of him before I went) and before that, probably in Vegas, though it's been so long I can't remember what show it was. I love watching artists live. Let me rephrase that, I love watching amazing artists who are even better in concert, live! Coldplay did not disappoint.

Joelle and I left early so we didn't hit Boston traffic on our way to the Garden. We got there around 4pm and headed over to Boston Beer Works for some food, adult beverages and to shoot a little pool before the concert. It was so nice to spend some "let your hair down" time with Joelle. A lot of our outings involve our boys, so it was great to have some time just for us. We may have been having a little too much fun though, as it took us almost an hour to shoot 2 games of pool! We both swore up and down that we do not stink that bad usually. I'll admit, she beat me...both games. I'm blaming it on the beer and my fabulous new boots...the heels were throwing me off!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On to the concert! Duffy was the opening act. I had heard 2 of her songs before, and she was really good. I was surprised that such a big voice came from such a petite girl. The main event of course was Coldplay. I love them and was so excited that they were playing a second show in Boston since I missed the first one (It sold out in less than an hour). The concert was at the TD Banknorth Garden, home of the World champion Celtics! We had good seats, i only wish I had a better camera. In the pictures it looks like we are further away than we actually are.

The screens they had were amazing. They weren't just showing what was happening on stage. It almost looked like a video with all of the effects they had going.

My absolute favorite part of the show was when the band left the stage and surprised the crowd by appearing in the stands right next to our section!!!! They played 2 songs acoustically, one of which is my favorite, The Scientist. They were so close and I was way too wobbly at that point to get many good shots (besides I wanted to enjoy the songs), but I got a couple and this one is my favorite.

All in all, the show was amazing and we had a blast!

This concert was absolutely brill. I really wish that Prospekt's March had been out when they came round, would have loved to have heard some songs from that! One of the funniest parts of the show was when Will's drum machine stopped working and they had to quickly switch to "Talk". Quite amusing I must say. :D And Chris totally steals the show, does he not?

I think Square One was supposed to be played along with "God put a smile..." but then the drum machine broke and they had to quickly switch to "talk".

My favorite quote on the night:

CHRIS: How old are you young man? 12? ARE YOU A JONAS BROTHER?! We're 30 and we keep getting kicked off the charts by teenagers!

I was bummed they chose Mansfield too this time but then I remind myself we already got two, count 'em >> TWO dates at the Garden. Guess they really like to switch it up and hit all the shed venues when they tour North America in the summertime.
