Can I just say that this song is really, really, growing on me. Not so much the Chinese Sleep Chant part - which I don't mind really either - but the beginning with all the wacky violin stuff. The first few times I listen to this album I kept skipping Yes, but now I skip to Yes. It's just awesome.

Sorry, just had to let that one out. Feel free to add your thoughts, or just ignore this.

haha...it's a song, by Muscles. Mayn't be your cup of tea, but if you like something dancey, have a go at "Sweaty". He's Australian.

Haha, the thread is called "Yes- A Sleeper Hit?" And Yes is combined with Chinese sleep chant.

This is definitely my favorite track on the new album so far. I think it's just so completely different than anything the band has ever done and the fact that Chris Martin is singing in such a low octave makes it that much greater.

Is the best song from the new album...no doubt

The more I listen to the CD straight through the more I like this song. It's actually my favorite at the moment.

I heard it on the radio the other day, and they actually left Chinese Sleep Chant after it. Made me laugh.

Definitely one of my favorites from the album. From this song to the end of the album is just pure gold.

I could not stand Yes on the first couple of listens... thought it was overproduced, but now it makes my top 5 off the album. It feels briefly like Radiohead when that acoustic guitar first kicks in after the distorted strings.

This should be single number 3. Western Society is so snobbish & quiet. Go on a train or bus peak hour after work, & no-one talks to one another. I know we're all strangers, but goddammit I'm just so tired of this loneliness...
I think this song, as someone mentioned on the pedophile thread, Coldplay's version of Radiohead's Creep or Sir Blount's You're Beautiful.
I authorise this song to be single 3. I'm praying...

the pedo thread... oh god :laugh3:

What can I say about this... what can I say. :sneaky:

Yes is a sleeper hit - that's right. I've always skipped it in the three months after buying the album but now I really like it too. Chris' voice low voice is very special, the lyrics are interesting, you have got a lot of space to interprete it. The sound is also great. And I adore The Chinese Sleep Chant, it's just overwhelming and a strong contrast to Yes.

I just don't like the violin intro at the beginning of Yes, I don't get the meaning of it, maybe somebody is able to explain it to me . And I also don't like the strong oriental parts in it, when it comes on I always feel like I am on a turkish bazaar :laugh3:, I don't think it fits into the song, it's too much.

I think the string, the "turkish" feel, the lower range voice make an eclectic mix that really, really works.

Still love this song. Now that Prospekt's March is out Yes running a close second to LiT ii as my favorite from this batch of songs

Ah, Yes. The very first song I fell in love with on the new album, but now I tend to skip over it to get to the fabulous Strawberry Swing more than I'd like to.

The song was the first one that really hit me on Viva la Vida, and I couldn't stop singing it and giggling over Chris's sexy low register for days. Him singing low is divine!

Hmm... now I have the biggest urge to listen to it... 8D

"Yes" is probably my favorite track off the album. Chris' voice is so low and very sexy. =]

I don't really like it that much. I has grown on me a little bit though. And I love Chinese Sleep Chant.

I love this song !

At first, I didn't listen to it like I could listen to "Violet Hill" or "42" for example.

But, now I can say it's one of my favorite songs on this album. What I love the most is Chris' voice I think. It's low and... sexy  It's really surprising ! There is a real work about it. Add instrumental part and lyrics and it's a beautiful set ! It is different than others songs, it's atypical... Met with "Chinese Sleep Chant' and it's simply powerful !

It contributes to the album just as much as every song on there. Had it suddenly disappeared I'd be very sad.
