I cannot for the life of me figure out why I'm not seeing Death and all its friends/ escapist on the setlists for the first few shows. You simply cannot have a song so epic and beautiful (not to mention completely ball-shattering the way Johnny, Will, and Guy play) and not melt faces with it live! I'm absolutely befuddled and very afraid that I'm not going to hear my favorite song off the new album in San Jose on 7/18!

This is something that's worrying me as well. I really hope they play it when the actual tour starts...

This might be because this song has more into it, I mean, for me, this is song is pure Coldplay material, outside of every song of the album.

Trust me theyll play it during the real tour. These shows are more for fun and preparation, so theyre playing different songs that they might not be able to play during the real tour. Once it begins theyll be playing more songs and better songs. Trust me, theyll play DAAHF live, it would be a greater end song than Fix You.

I really hope they do! I am also expecting them to play YES...I agree on DAAHF being a great closer, but so far I am liking their closing with Lovers in Japan...

cheers

The only reason I can think of is that the 7/4 time signature at the end is a little tricky, but I'd hate to think that that's actually why they won't play it live. The male choir part at the end sounds like it was made to be a crowd singalong.
They really should bust it out on stage. Not that I'm going to any shows, but it just needs to happen.

Is it really 7/4 time? God thats weird!

Anyway I dont care if thats a hard time sig to song and play in, they're professionals, they should be able to handle it.

i think they just hadn't perfected this song yet so they couldn't play it at the free shows. they did say they are having production delays so im guessing this song is one of them. im almost certain they will play it on the regular tour.

If these guys can play it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4G36PZKKuU(a pretty respectable job in my opinion), then Coldplay can. I agree with the Count. They're probably holding out because they don't want cp hard-ons like us to see clips of it. They want to completely blow us away when we hear it live for the first time!

Agreed. Coldplay can do it. We'll just have to shout and shout until they come out for an encore. We'll keep bringing them out until they run out of songs and have to play DAAHF.:D

Time signature troubles?

Maybe that's also the reason they're not playing Yes?

...although they have played it once or twice already, so I doubt THAT's why.

Maybe they didnt had time to learn this song better.. because they would play the other songs because this one is harder? I mean.. for the first gigs after a while..

And They played Yes live.. for a soundcheck.. but they played it.

They have to play 'Death And All His Friends' -- I can't even begin to imagine the sound the audience would make whilst singing that song all together. It would be absolutely phenomenal.

It gives me chills just thinking about it...

Clearly. The. Best. Song. Off. The. Album.

They did play this song live - it was their encore song - at least it was during last night's show (LA - July 14th)

Glad to see it made it onto the play list. I knew ( as did many others) that it would be an epic crowd sing along when it made it out on tour.

Yes they are playing all the good songs, including Death And All His Friends.

I have read on The Oracle on Coldplay.com that Jonny doesn't sing on Death and All His Friends live in concert because it is hard for him to sing and play the guitar lead at the same time as there are many chords to play in the song.

This is the very first time that all four of the guys have sung a song on a record of their own. This tops Fix You as one of my favorite songs although on record it is sung by Chris and Will only while live in concert, the last part is sung by Chris, Will, Guy and Jonny together.
