i think the Today show organisers have to be carefull anyway because they've to first interview the band and then let them perform one or two of their songs and then let them go securely out.
Because they'll not be having time to show the rest of the news on Today.

I won tix to one of these things for Sting a couple of years back. While the number of songs will be few (4, 5 or 6 or so- only 2 or 3 go on air) I can assure you it is TOTALLY worth it. You get put in a section right next to the stage where they go in and out between commercials and interviews and you will get to interact with them (assuming they are willing). In our case with Sting, we got to get autographs and pics of him and all the band members, all signed my CD, and if you look carefully can find yourself on TV later. :)
GL everyone. :D
yeahhh, Chelsea totally deserves it :)

first of all for all the people who are going to Today at NBC if any one previously attended before there please give all the details about how the show will be like organising, interviews, songs list to be performed like how many songs,
any interaction too with the band, and vice versa.
as far as i know i read that it will be from outside of rockefellar plaza that audience must watch and all the thing will be inside studio.

They set up a stage outside in between the NBC studio and the Dean & Deluca. You can see/hear from the street (and Dean&Deluca) without tickets. They go inside for interviews. Come back play a little more. The VIP area is on the side of the stage closer than the main crowd. The band will walk directly by this area to get inside. How close? Inches.

haha, i just told my brother about how i entered this contest (because he'd be the one getting the other VIP pass if i win :D), and he got REALLY excited. after we freaked out for a few minutes about it, he put on the  face and said "there BETTER be biddies there!" They set up a stage outside in between the NBC studio and the Dean & Deluca. You can see/hear from the street (and Dean&Deluca) without tickets. They go inside for interviews. Come back play a little more. The VIP area is on the side of the stage closer than the main crowd. The band will walk directly by this area to get inside. How close? Inches.
**all this assumes it't the same layout as previous "summer concert series" things the Today Show has done.

I'd seriously like to ask one favour of anyone who wins and is involved in the CCC: If you have 2 seconds, let them know what the CCC has done (Not only HWSTW, but that WOULD be awesome!!). I know they'd be blown away if they knew.:)

That would be amazing, but since it's currently not avail. for download (I'll fix that again soon) someone would have to either give up their copy or burn one, which would be ok with me if it's ok with the musicians...something tells me they wouldn't mind, lol. It would take too long to order from Carepress The real problem I have with just taking a burned copy is that they wouldn't be able to see the artwork, and it's as important as the music, imo. I was just dreaming aloud anyway.
(But still..if there's a way, keep the CCC in mind, eh?;))

Trouble is, I think we only sold a few copies, so it's hard to even guarantee the winners would own one. I know Angie has one, but I think we'd have to fight her for it, and I'm a pacifist, lol. I have been a member of the CCC, but unfortunately haven't gotten around to purchasing a copy of HWSTW. Are they still on sale through one of the CCC board links? I'd be willing to purchase two, one for my girlfriend to give to one of the boys and another to have signed by the band. (They'll probably be sick of signing VLV and having a signed copy of HWSTW would be a good sig for the boards!)

24-06-2008, 11:56 AM
Well since the CD isn't available anymore, I'll pick up two of the shirts from the store instead and try to have my girlfriend give Chris one and have the other one signed. Maybe we could come up with a short pamphlet describing CCC's efforts to slip into the shirt or something. Reading material for the boys on the plane would be nice...

from what i understand, 25 coldplayers will win two passes each, so they'll each get to bring a guest. if this close pen is coldplayers only, then it'll just be 50 people! you can't get much better than that.
also from what i understand, if the band are feeling generous and in good moods, between songs/commercial breaks/etc, they just might come out to give autographs and take pictures etc. let's just hope the early hour doesn't make them too cranky :P

ok so how many people do you think entered? at first i thought we all had a decent shot at this since i figured only people in the NY area would apply... but it looks as though people are applying from all over. so any idea how many total? basically im trying to figure out if i'm getting my hopes up or not :\
ApproximatelyInfinite
25-06-2008, 05:42 AM
i'm thinking LOTS applied. like 300, maybe more. i bet lots of those people just signed up to the board in the past two days and sent in a PM. while lots of those people might have very good reasons...i'm thinking that coldplaying seniority might play a role in here. might be small, might be large, but really...ian "knows" who we are, so i think that miiiiiight help things a tiny bit. i'm not letting that get my hopes up too high (or i'm trying not to), but if i were ian, i'd be wading through the hundreds of applicants, but my interest would really perk when a good reason was paired with a username and person i recognized.
i also think that something like an MSG might be pulled...like only people in the tri-state area or other nearby states will be selected (besides angie, who's the longest coldplayer i've seen enter out of all of us ;)). i think ian has more sense than whatever computer selected the MSG winners though: i bet the computer that selected the MSG winners was only allowed to select certain zip codes for winners, whereas ian is picking based on things we actually WRITE as well as a more general sense of location (and perhaps how well he knows us?).
all i know for sure is that i'm wetting myself, here.

hahaha well i hope your right. i wouldn't say that seniority gives me much of an advantage since im slightly still a noob... but hopefully since he knows i'm a legit everyday poster my entry will at least be read instead of thrown in the trash immediately :P just kidding... i KNOW ian will read all of them no matter what.

I hope people that can actually attend applied and not just gosh I want to go be there is no way in hell I actually can make it there. I know Ian has to submit the names to NBC and I would hate to see tickets go to waste.

exactly. i hope ian's decisions are slightly swayed by the people he knows (or could find out) that would be going anyway, like me and you and yammy etc etc, so the tickets wouldn't go to waste.
question: if ian has to submit the names to NBC, what happens if some generous coldplayer decides to give out their tickets that they won, but can't use?

all i know for sure is that i'm wetting myself, here. On the official board I would always enter contests and Debs would PM and tell me I wasn't able to enter because who's going to spend money to travel to England just for some show? :veryangry: She don't know me. She has no earthly idea what I will do. I suspect Ian is far more aware of my insanity and knows I will travel there in a heart beat. :laugh3:

@ tim: i know, that frustrates me too, but if coldplay were doing this in say, philly, which is really out of my way, i'd apply and figure out the details of getting there if i won. i can't really blame the people that do that, but it just gets frustrating for people that LIVE IN THE AREA and have no problem getting there.
i'll be there either way, VIP passes or not, but...GAHH.
@ angie: that is annoying. you shouldn't be barred from entry, no matter what! but at the same time...not many people are as devoted as you to fly to these places if they win! but us here, we all know you and know that you'd do ANYTHING to get ANYWHERE to see these boys, ian most of all :D

We would always chat on line on the old old official board and one day she was like I wish we could see a show together. We checked the tour schedule and planned on Cleveland because it was a GA show and we didn't have to worry about getting seats next to each other. We ended up getting people from all over the US to join us and we had the best time ever. OK mostly because I grabbed Jonny's ass. :sneaky:
