I like most accents but worst one, for me anyway, is a Birmingham accent. My sister used to live there and she used to imitate the Brummy accent and have us in stitches! (I think Geordie accent is awful too - especially on tele or radio - it sounds sooooo bad!)

';'
12-12-2002, 02:28 PM
are they hard to understand?

Tracy
12-12-2002, 02:34 PM
Sometimes. I think it depends on how strong their accent is 8) I met this lad called Simon from Surrey when I was in Leeds last week and even they have their own accent. I liked that one - A LOT! ;)

where do you live?

brill as pie
18-12-2002, 12:20 AM
sydney-siders that live near the beach (like me) have normal accents, its just neutral, the westies and country folk have really nasal and harsh sounding "aussie accents" a la steve irwin.....kylie minogue has a beachy sydney persons accent...have any of you heard her speak? do you sort of get me?

ginger: southern americans, in my opinion have, possibly THE strongest accents i have EVER heard.....i cant believe no one has ever told you that. its certainly stronger then a 'yankees' accent

and to all the british and irish posters here: you guys have REALLY strong accents too, you may not know it, but you guys stick out like a sore red thumb, as the saying goes.

of course you probably think the same about me, i think im neutral, but im probably not. :) its weird that.

';'
18-12-2002, 09:12 AM
 just because i live here in the south doesnt mean i have an accent. not everyone here does. and i havnt been in tx all my life...in the south there are plenty of accents. but i just happen to have none of them. i go to other places and people wouldnt know i'm from the south.

I lived in Ireland for two years, moved to Canada for 8 years, moved back to NORTHERN Ireland (Actually just 30 miles away from home but the accent here is completely different) where Ive been staying for like, 7 years

I also lived briefly in America and other places, its left me with, not an INTERESTING accent but not a boring one either. As close to Normal as accents get.

Berrychen do you have a STRONG new york accent? That would be TOO COOL

I lived in the English part of Canada but attended French boarding school. Haha sometimes you can pick up on the Frenchness, its so fucked up.

Its quite deep these days, I just noticed. Gravely, sounds like I have a throat infection.

I dont think I do... but I've been told I speak like J.Ho... I mean J. Lo.. lol

my physics teacher was so into it. he had every race on video. so freaky.

ah mika is/was hilarious. finnish media made tons of joke about him at that glory time though. pretty evil.

now everything is up to squeaking räikkönen. :dozey:
