Not bad...just a bit in front of the sec 9 that is coming up now.
But for a presale, they seem pretty crappy to me.
If I'm gonna be that far back, I'd rather be elevated a bit on the lower level.

In the seating charts I've read there is another group of scetions behind section 4 (sections 6,7 and 8) before section 9. Also that row N = 14th row from front.

Anyone familiar with the venue. Does this sound right?

wembley

beantech

1 2 3 are front 3 secs
4 5 6 are middle secs
7 8 9 are back

Row N in sec 4 is 14 rows from the front of that section.
Then you have another 21 rows in front of you from the front sections (1 2 3 ).
So Row N in Sec 4 is about 35 rows back.

Actually looks like thats a different fllor plan. seems like rown sec 4 is 24th row

http://www.bankatlanticcenter.com/assets/events/mapENDSTAGE.jpg

All Seats run from right to left if sitting in seat, looking at the stage.
- For End Stage Concert Setup -
Front Floor (1&2) Rows run A-K. After row F, there is a row FF for disabled seating. There is no row "I" in either section. Each row is 22 seats wide.

Floor (3-5) Rows run A-M. There is no row "I" in any section. Each row is 14 seats wide.

The chart you linked is just the generic endstage setup.
That's not correct for this show.
The one I linked is what shows up on the presale page when you select your tix.
It's unique because they have 2 little 'runways' on each side of the stage.

I need three seats for FLL so no BestBuy for me.

I'm taking my 14 and 11 year old boys with me (ssh ! don't tell them :) ), and as they are vertically challenged, floor seats don't sound like a good idea, even if they are still there tomorrow morning.

I figure anything in 101-103 or 118-115 is about the best (again, if they come up), anyone know the arena and can comment ?

BTW, last tour had lawn tkts at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa... wonderful cool evening, loved laying back on the lawn waiting for the main event... but it was too quiet !... apparently major noise abatement issues there... sheesh, if you can hear yourself sing along, it ain't loud enough !

JustSpies84

Just got a decent seat; I guess I can't complain. I think they're better seats than the last time I saw them, section 102, row 1

Does anyone know if they tend to re-sell quickly? I'm only asking because some crazy emergency might come up and I won't be able to make it.

And I know this is probably not the place to do it, but screw Ticketmaster and their outrageous "convenience" fees! This ticket would have cost me less than $100 if it wasn't for all that extra crap they add on to make money for themselves!

Roll on November!

TomCayman
21-06-2008, 03:17 PM
Sounds like excellent seats.

I got s105, but I guess as I needed three seats, that would explain why I'm quite a few rows back from the front, but still lower level, so happy enough with that.

All the fees are nuts, but it's a monopoly, nothing we can do about it but suck it up.

$349 for three seats.... no concessions for kids either :)

Tom, your kids are not going to want any concessions, 'cos the show is going to be that amazing. If I had kids, I'd be taking them too!

And KelKell, do you live in Central Florida? 'Cos it takes me about three hours to get to Sunrise. Right about now I am wishing I was still in college in Miami, just because of the convenience, lol.

My friend semi-pressured me to go to the BankAtlantic Center with him last week to see The Cure. That drive was a pain, but The Cure played one of the longest sets of any band I have ever seen live. I hope Coldplay gives them a run for their money and plays just as long! I can't believe I'm seeing them again. I'm trying to wrap my head around it.

I hope everyone going has fun. I know it's months away, but still..Have fun!

Yeh, I notice that too! Both for Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale. Maybe the band and promoters have them reserved! If they don't fill them up, they might put them on day of or right before. That has happened alot lately. I checked day of for Tampa RH and got in front section. I offed my other ticket at gates. I have done this on several occasions, so wouldn't be surprised if tickets showed up at last minute.

I still haven't bought tickets, because of one of my friends, but we're definitely planning on going. =) We've been wanting to see them since forever. I'm trying to find some that aren't super expensive, but not in what I like to call the "Nosebleed Section". lol. The problem with some is that it's really hard to find three seats together. I'm mostly looking between Sections 114-121. Any thoughts?

Nah.. three hour drive with no stops.

Yeah I'm from Jacksonville so it wouldn't be that bad either since Ft. Lauderdale back to Jacksonville is pretty much a straight shot up 95.

However for me there's a slight possibility I might be going to the Atlanta show so I pretty much have to rely upon Ticketmaster releasing more tickets closer to the date otherwise I could end up with a ticket for Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale and then Atlanta and that drive...not fun at all.

So very worth it. Somehow my mother decided she wanted to join me for the Orlando show though so I have doubts about her desire to do it. When I told her my plan of arena stalking before the show she was less than enthused and didn't want to leave me to do it myself. I'm 19, I can indeed handle myself if she doesn't want to join in the fun. I'll be there at least. ;)

It really does seem that the scalpers have the majority of these tickets. I've been keeping an eye on what Ticketmaster has available for quite awhile and I haven't seen anything good come up. Plus everything on other sources is just ridiculous. It's disappointing.

Have two tix in Sec 121, Row 22 - See link below

https://www.ticketmaster.com/seatingchart_secure/107150/23809/

Selling at my cost only - i.e. face value of US$97.50, plus about US$16 in Ticketmaster service fees - as I had two people cancel on our road trip recently and am otherwise "stuck" with two great tickets I cannot use .

The only complication is that the tickets are at the will call window (I ordered internationally) and so I will only have my hands on them the day of the concert. We'll need to make arrangements to meet and/or trade cell numbers if you want the tickets. I am a fan (am travelling from the Cayman Islands to go to the concert), so I assure you that I will not try to up the price on the tickets or otherwise pull any tricks. I am only looking to recoup my expenses for the seats.

Anyone interested? Email me at noahmonkey@hotmail.com

If you're like me, you've got a bone to pick with Ticketmaster. "Convenience" charges (which aren't waived if you physically go to the box office, fyi)? And for each ticket? Is it really so much harder to stuff two into an envelope instead of one? Point is, even before economical hard times, I stopped going to concerts unless a) Ticketmaster wasn't involved, b) I would kick myself really hard for the rest of my life if I didn't see X band/musician or c) I get to go for free.

If you'll kick yourself if you don't go to this Sunday's Coldplay concert at the BankAtlantic Center, but don't want to sell your plasma for tix, Miami.com and BankAtlantic (did you know they're open 7 days a week?) might have a solution. All you have to do is tune into The Link tomorrow (that would be Thursday), during which Toni and J.R. will ask a Coldplay trivia question. Email editor@miami.com with the answer, along with your name, age, email address and phone number -- if you're one of the first six to reply, you've got yourself two tix.

And these aren't vertigo-inducing, I-can-see-bats-in-the-rafters-from-here tix. These are tix for the Miami.com/BankAtlantic SUITE. Cushy seats, line-free booze ordering and no jack-arse in front of you thinking everyone would rather hear his version of "Yellow." Instead, you'll be surrounded by your fellow uber-cool Miami.com users.

I'm pretty sure even Apple would agree these are good seats. Though I guess Gwenyth's lap is pretty nice, too.

Chris Martin realizes Coldplay has some critics, but that's not stopping him from living la Vida.

Chris Martin was working out the knots. As his handlers hovered, the usually affable Coldplay singer stretched out on the carpet in a dim and airless room backstage at the Jimmy Kimmel show. It was hours before showtime and the singer's muscles were tight and his expression sour. Finally, he looked up with pleading eyes. "Can we escape? Let's go somewhere else. Maybe some place with trees? I have a car and a driver ..."

A few minutes later, the lanky Brit ducked through an alleyway behind the talk show's Hollywood Boulevard studios and climbed into an ebony SUV that whisked him and his visitor up the hill to Griffith Park. "This looks good," he said, tapping the window. "Yes, let's stop here." As soon as his sneakers hit the grass, the black-clad Martin was as perky as the Labrador that trotted past him on a path. Enough so that he started making confessions and jokes which, for him, are hard to separate.

"Like millions of people in the world, I can't listen to Coldplay," Martin said with a daft wink. "But my reason is professional. You see, I'm always thinking about the next thing. I'm also always looking for something that will inspire the next thing. Look, we're the one band we can't plagiarize. So really there's no point in me listening to it. If I think, 'Well, that's good,' then I'll want to use it, which won't work. And if I think, 'Hey that's terrible,' then I'll be depressed over breakfast. It's a classic lose-lose situation."

If you listen to Coldplay — and many people do, considering the 11.2 million albums they've sold in the United States alone — then you already know that Martin is an earnest voice in an ironic age. That has opened the band up to savage insults (Noel Gallagher once sneered that they were "four Didos with willies") but instead of retreating, Martin decided to join in the sport. No one gives Chris Martin more grief these days than Martin himself. He makes fun of his hair, clothes, diet and famous falsetto. He even mocks himself for thinking, deep-down, that he's cool for not being cool: "We've never been about being cool and we never will be. And I think in a way that's quite cool. But I can't think about it too much — because if you think about it then you automatically aren't cool. Wait, I've gone too far. I'm not cool. Again."

Coldplay has a new album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which arrived with considerable heat. The lead single, Viva la Vida, hit No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 and, at iTunes, the pre-orders for the album were the largest in the history of the digital merchant. The band became famous for polished, piano-based songs of soaring pop exultation and rainy-day reflection, but with this new studio album, their fourth, they have made a bid at reinvention. The songs are still from the heart but maybe more from the gut.

No matter what, Coldplay, booked Sunday at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, won't be able to win over a certain constituency that, frankly, has detested them too much and for too long to start listening now. Jon Pareles of The New York Times once called them the "most insufferable band of the decade," which might say less about the band and more about how fashionable it has become to slag them. Martin said it's because he wears his heart on his sleeve when he sings. "If you allow yourself to be vulnerable in your music, people will feel it a lot more," Martin said. "But a lot more people will also hate it or mock it. It's almost like a deal with the devil, but I'm happy to take that deal. It doesn't feel right to me to sing about stuff I don't believe in."

Campus catalyst

In September 1996, a shy freshman named Jonny Buckland, fresh from a Welsh town called Mold, arrived with his acoustic guitar at University College London. His plan was to look at the stars (he was studying astronomy) but his life took a different path when, during orientation week, he met Martin, a gangly kid from leafy Devon, who coaxed him into a music partnership.

They would be joined by bassist Guy Berryman, a handsome Scot who came to the university to study engineering. He had heard Martin's amateur attempts at songwriting and, after a few rounds at a pub, lurched across the room and demanded membership in the band. Will Champion, an anthropology student who knew more about tribes than he did drums, was brought in to keep the beat. They called themselves Starfish, but the name didn't stick. They pinched a better one from Child's Reflections, Cold Play, a 1997 collection by American poet Philip Horky.

Their 2000 debut album, Parachutes, yielded the yearning, breakthrough hit Yellow and the 2002 follow-up, A Rush of Blood to the Head, came with a flurry of hit singles: In My Place, Clocks and The Scientist. That's when things got complicated. Relentless tour dates, the tug of their personal lives and the turbulence of success put Coldplay in a shaky place.

The members say they felt pressured by their label, EMI/Capitol Records, to create a followup with similar scope and sound. The album was delayed and EMI's stock dropped (literally) as a result, turning up the tension. The result was X&Y, a 2005 album that sold well but, in the band's view, lacked clarity.

To steady themselves, Martin said, Coldplay looked for a place to "make it homemade again." They found it in a blind alley in London.

"We found this little bakery, and we bought it and turned it into a, well, it's like a youth club," Martin said. "Do you read the Harry Potter books? It's a bit like that train stop they use, the platform 9 3/4, which you can't find unless you know where it is. If you drive by quickly, it doesn't look like anything is there. If you go in, it's like a little band heaven. Everything is hand-painted. There was a dartboard, but it's gone now. We banned some of the leisure activities. The last thing you need when you're trying to reinvent yourself is a pool table. Drummers tend to love pool more than they love drumming. It's a bigger stick."

Uniform appeal

The group also rang up Stella McCartney for some guidance in creating uniforms. Their vision was to create a look for themselves that was a mix of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and a rag-tag Salvation Army quintet. A Norwegian tailor made jackets and trousers, which they individualized with ribbons and piping.

"It's a little nerdy, but we turned into seamstresses for a few days," Martin said. "It's a nice feeling to wear clothes you really had a hand in. It's the closest we'll get to Roc-A-Wear, I think. It's not an original idea, but it's a good one. The Clash did it and Green Day did it. Adam Ant. Lots of people. It makes you feel more like a performer."

There's also a brother-in-arms message: "I think with each band there comes a point where they have to find a place to be together, otherwise they end up living in different countries and just meet on stage. When you get famous, there are two reactions to your other band mates. You either think, 'I could do this without you.' Or you think, 'I really couldn't do this without you.' You're luckier if you are in the second category. We've always been very grateful for each other."

Okay so I entered for the Miami.com contest for two tickets to Coldplay on Sunday, November 9th. I magically appeared on the site exactly when the contest started and I was the first email chosen.

SO with that being said I cant find anybody to go with me due to sceduling, travel, whatever. Is there anybody in the miami area that would like to sit in box seats (IN A SUITE) for the show at the Miami BankAtlantic Center Show. I would assume a seat like this goes for $1000+. I am a broke college student that lives 14 hours away int he car, so airfare is my only option. If I cant afford it, I will end up giving it away.

But, I am set on going. Please pm me or post or call me 843-384-1598 if you are interested.

Ok, so showtime is 7:30pm, but when will Coldplay take the stage ?

Having a drama getting there.. live in Cayman and sitting here with HUrricane Paloma... have rebooked my flights several times now as the storm forecast changed... even got to the airport to board a flight before the airport closed.. but then that flight (the last one scheduled) was xld as the weather closed in.

So... called AA and rebooked for Sunday lunchtime.. hopefully airport back up and running normally.. but.. if not, need to know how much time I can allow in case of delays and still see the band... fair to say they won't go on stage before 9pm ?

While I'll conceal my own personal feelings towards the band (I think you can guess), I have to grit my teeth and admit that Coldplay are still one of the biggest bands in the world right now.

Enough so, that when they come to town, it's always newsworthy. So I couldn't in good conscience ignore it. For those who don't know, Coldplay play a non-offensive brand of arena-ready bombastic rock anthems that have been compared to Jeff Buckley and Echo and the Bunnymen, but in reality are more comparable to Rod Stewart and Peter Gabriel. Oh, and U2. It's impossible to forget U2, what with Chris Martin's Bono Complex.

So get out your lighters (or more likely, cell phones) and get ready to soft rock! Coldplay play Sunday at BankAtlantic Center.

Roadie #42 - Blog #50

In which #42 reaches his half-century

Chris bounds up to me on the journey into Orlando with a new setlst. It's been quite a while since we've played Setlist Twister. The start of this tour often felt like trying to ride a malfunctioning mechanical bull and then, all of a sudden, seemingly out of completely nowhere, things settled into a definitive form.

The current setlist is pretty much engraved into everyone on the crew's brains. The endings to songs trigger mental flags that it's time to carry out the necessary steps to be ready for the next one. As I've said before though, familiarity and repetition can become a little tiring. The show has got stronger and stronger night upon night in terms of the band's performance, but you can't beat a nice shake-up to keep everyone interested.

The new setlist relies on some elements that we don't have here yet, which means that we won't be descending into chaos tonight. In fact, potential for chaos is nicely deflated as the band call a production meeting on stage at the end of soundcheck. It only becomes apparent how much is involved in the gig now when the crowd of people affected by the changes begins to assemble on stage.

This is also only the 'immediate crew' and the department heads, but questions fly thick and fast: "If that song is going to follow this one, the balls are going to be in this position - what do you want on them in the change?", "Which mic are you going to sing at if you're finishing that song on guitar and then going straight to the piano?", "Do you want the longer intro version of that song to give you time to get from here to there, or are we going to go back to the old version?", "Is the piano going to stay out between this song and this one, or do you want it out of the way?" and so it goes on.

It's all minute tiny details, but they're exactly the kind of thing that could trip everyone up if they're not addressed in advance. The informal "round table" approach with the band and crew began in the studio - before rehearsals even began for this tour. Full and open communication between band and crew has been invaluable in getting a lot done quickly and that's what we're trying to do here. I won't spoil the surprise and tell you what the new setlist involves, but I think you'll like it and rest assured, when things finally fall into place, you'll be hearing about it here!

Getting to sunny Florida in November is a treat for a bunch of British roadies accustomed to cold grey weather in the winter months. Today, Will's drumtech Bash tells me of a surfing trip on the day off yesterday. This is all down to Brook, who is the guy who fires all that wonderful butterfly confetti each night. When I first met Brook, I remarked to someone that he was the most Californian person I had ever met - ever. I was quickly informed though, that he hails from down here in Florida. Never was particularly good with geography...

Being as he's on home turf tonight, I figured now's a good time to talk about his butterflies. They are a huge high point on the show, obviously and it's quite possible that the band get the best view of them each night - being as they're looking down the room right into them. The most amazing thing about them is that they get into absolutely everything. Open any flightcase and there'll be at least one in there somewhere, they're in every drawer and every toolbox around the venue. If you leave anything open, they'll get in there before Lovers In Japan draws to a close.

Every night, the fans in the moving lights are blown through with a "leaf blower" to keep them clear for the next day. I'm reliably informed that at Front Of House (roadie glossary: the enclosure in the crowd where the sound, lighting and video desks are) there is usually a frenzy of "wafting" to keep the little critters out of the mixing desks. One of the sound crew apparently even used to blow across the desk to keep them away. Quite whether this was out of dogged determination or out of a desire to amuse himself, I'm not sure.

My personal favourite butterfly experience has to be coming home for some days off during the European tour and opening my paperback for some bedtime reading hundreds of miles away - only to have one of the luminous little buggers gently drop from between the pages. Given that I'm actually UNDERNEATH the stage while they're making their descent I still cannot work out how it got there. All good fun. And I have to say, I'm slightly envious of the fact that Brook gets to tell people he fires butterflies out of a canon for a living....

Here's the drumkit before the encore last night.

I hope everyone has fun tonight! If you see me, girl with yellow top, say hello if you want :)

I know that's why I'm here waiting patiently tonight. Praying we get a new song, or even just a repeat of Glass of Water, I wouldn't mind. 'cause I know we'll get good vids;) But a debut of LITii would be awesome!

BostonSportsTD, you don't know how I wish I could somehow turn back time to Glastonbury 2002! and I guess I'd also have to rob a bank to be able to fly my butt over there, 'cause the me in 2002 was beyond broke LOL. So thank goodness for the lovely people around here who get their hands on these live bootlegs and are kind enough to upload for us to share:D

Coldplay Karma - the supernatural cause of all the good things that happen to the hardcore Coldplayers here. ie; getting upgraded to front row from the nosebleeds (by chris himself), meeting the band, etc.
