Chris MArtin is not god.
The Scientist is not the most beautiful song ever.
AROBTTH is over rated.

REASONS
the scientist starts lovely but johnny or whatever the guitarists name is just turns it into a dirge half way through. Could he not do something more imaginative than just strum in time to the piano. (This is exactly what lets Yellow down. It is so boring.) Listen to No Surprises by Radiohead and see what can be done with a simple melody.

Politik is a strong opener, In My Place relies to much on production and the rest is simply run of the mill indie.

And this is my point, I have no problem with Coldplay (if any music moves you to tears that great) they just aren't that special compared to innovaters like radiohead, tool, sigur ros.
I feel stupid for having to pre-empt my defence but that's the way it is unfortunately.

Well, have you just listened to AROBTTH just the once? If you have, maybe you should listen to it a few more times. Maybe then, you'll understand what they are all about. The reason why its received so much praise from fans, critics and even non fans is because, the album is brilliant. Also, if you have never seen Coldplay live then you are definately missing out. To me, that is the icing on the cake.
At the moment, the UK charts is full of manufactured trash. Coldplay gives all the others a right kick up the ass and shows 'em all how its done.

and i think jonny sounds great in that song....chris said it himself....in the latest interview in the in my place thing on the official site. he said that the ending of the scientist is his favorite part of the album.

yesterday i heard my neighbor playing coldplay. he's really into heavy metal....he must of heard of them from me. because i play it all the time. do you have the cd. if not, go buy it. every song on there is great. go watch the video and go look up some interviews. i'm sure you'll be hooked soon :D

I think coldplay would be glad i bought the cd because i bought it with an open mind at least and gave it my full attention.
I make no apologies for getting guy's name wrong as i have said from the start i don't know the band well so it seems unfair to judge my listening capabilities on how well i know the band's names!

As for the george bush thing that was more about the fact that they have already decided how the oil in iraq will be distributed after the war. Also north korea are
admitting they are making nuclear weapons yet for some reason america doesn't go after them. Dubya is merely finishing off what his dad couldn't. Did you know that 3 members of the bush cabinet have majority shares in iraq's major oil companies?

This is bad i have to do this. All i ever said was it was unfair for chris martin to write stuff over his hand for make trade fair and oxfam etc, but as soon as i write about them my opinions are no longer relevant?!

Well, I don't care about Coldplay promoting good political stuff. It't their music which counts to me. I hadn't even HEARD of them a year ago, and suddenly In My Place hit me from the TV screen - stopped me in my tracks because, quite frankly, it was so DIFFERENT. They aren't just performers, like so much you see on TV. Their songs express their souls - I know that sounds corny, but what I mean is they MEAN what they are singing about. Every time. And each song has something surprising in it - it could be the lyrics, or a particular chord sequence, or the drumming or the tempo or the way it suddenly 'opens out' into a real, full-blown dawn, like in Daylight. Amazing stuff. These guys will not be forgotten. Not everyone likes them, lots of people say their music is doomy and miserable. They're not seeing it for what it is - REAL music, heartfelt music. I agree with a critic I read recently - they are going to be greater than the Beatles.
