If not, check it out, and then compare this part of the song with Strawberry Swing:

David Bowie: I was walking down the High Street, when I heard footsteps behind me
Chris Martin: I remember, we were walking up to strawberry swing

I'll have to listen to this again...I loooooove that laughing gnome song! I didn't notice any resemblance off the bat though!

Ian, interesting you should mention Bowie - I had for some strange reason been thinking for the past day how similar Coldplay's songs and style are to Bowie's - especially Bowie's delving into some deep subjects with a kind of detached presence, like Golden Years' "..run from the shadows.." and Coldplay's "little white shadows".. etc. Strange how we could be operating on the same wavelength! It must be seasonal memory timing or something like that..
