There's an extra concert a day after the first one in Rotterdam, probably because the first one was sold out in like 2 minutes.

I figured it needed its own thread. So...

Welcome to the thread for the above concert which can be used for all discussion prior to, during and after the gig.

clothing wise... I;'m in serious doubt... i'm thinking of a milion ways to draw attention to myself mostly in banners so I'm thinking my outfit should just basically be HOT... I'm thinking of buying a nice top and costumizing it myself I wanna credit coldplaying.com... I just don't know yet... I've been doing some costumizing before and I like to fool around in photoshop and stuff.. I guess I'll know when I find the right shirt and i'll just know exactly what to do with it.. if not i'll be wearing a friggin sexy dress :laugh3:

Yes, you have to try the standing tickets, it's an amazing (and exhausting!) experience!!! It's so good to see them so close...(I'm missing this feeling now...:()

That's why everbody is waiting at the front doors from 2pm, and sometimes 9 or 10am!!
And that's why there are people collapsing during the show, because they waited standing for 10 hours sometimes... And most of the time it's sooo hot inside you can't breathe...
Yeah, freaking experience...but it's so worth it!!!!

And it's such a shame there are no standing tickets in the UK...I'm wondering why... I will have to seat.... :(

I’m surrounded by nurses in white coats!

Don’t worry. I’ve not been hurt (although I did take a tumble in Band v Crew football earlier..), and I have not gone mad after almost 5 weeks of touring and diminishing sleep levels.

The Oxfam Novib volunteers are busy hugging their way through the Coldplay crowd in the Rotterdam Ahoy arena. A few of them are having a coffee next to me, so I presume the tiredness means that it’s been going very well! Exhausted from hugging.. It must be a rare condition.

They have been a great group to work with. They look great, and really stand out in the crowd, which is generally a mist of Coldplay shirts and the occasional stitched replica jacket.. Hug a nurse, is about drawing attention to the need for quality healthcare worldwide. For that, we just want Coldplay fans voices.. And their hugs.

The ’hug a nurse’ campaign is ’FairAct #44’ for Oxfam Novib. FairActs are small, simple things that people can do to make the world a fairer, more equal and happier place. Other examples are to eat a FairTrade banana, be curious about the world around you, do something for nothing.. Wear ’clean’ clothes (which meet fair trade standards). You get the idea.

I just saw a volunteer nurse run across to the guy selling all those Coldplay shirts, with open arms and a big hug. It’s a really fun way to do a couple of our last shows here in Europe. Now I really am surrounded. The volunteers are coming back to the stall, to change clothes for the Coldplay show.. 10 minutes to kick off.

Speaking of kick-off..

Just a quick word on the football earlier. Band 6 - 1 Crew. I played for the band. Will Champion took home the match-ball. Maybe he’s Southampton F. C’s next star striker..



A big hug and a big thank you to Oxfam Novib, to Maarten and to all of your star hugging nurses! Over 1200 signatures and hugs tonight. Fantastic stuff.

I loved the fact that Guy was taking pictures of the rest of the band, and the guys were also fooling around. For example, during the hardest part I looked at the A stage and I saw will sneaking up on John and scare him! It was so funny :D

I'm back home! It was soo great!
Politik was great, and didn't expect ROL after it:O That was soo nice!

I was very late there, at seven o 'clock and was sooo close to the stage:o less then 5 meters! :D

A little story about it:

We where there at seven, waiting one hour and then it started, first there was another band that sounded realy good too.
After that they removed their instruments and 15 minutes past nine it happend!
Coldplay entered the stage to play Life in Technicolor.
After it they played Violet Hill, his voice was realy good! And he let us end the song!
Clocks was great with those lasers, and in In My Place Chris was 2 meters before me.
Politik was my favorite and when it started, I knew it was the best day of my life..
The mistake in Death And All His Friends was funny and he started it over.
What a band! Fantastic!

Antwerp, Belgium. the end of the European road..

Talking of roads, the buses and trucks are all literally parked beneath one, as this venue is right next to the motorway. We drove past it on the way from Milan to Rotterdam. It’s a big green building, feels like it’s seen a few sights over the years..

The crowds are already patiently waiting outside. Inflatable pillows for comfort and their backs against the glass doors, claiming thier spot at the front of the queue. That metal bar at the front of the stage must be the most sought after piece of steel in Europe at the moment! There are some familiar faces too. I met some Coldplaying.com fans last night, waiting outside to meet the band on their way out. They waited in the rain last night, and said they would see me here today too. So they did. Knocking on the glass doors at the front of the venue, with a friendly wave, as I set up the Oxfam booths. I am constantly impressed by the dedication of these fans. One of the best part of the days, is when the doors finally open, these wide open venues fill up and the buzz starts to build up.

We’ve almost reached the end of the road for now. 5 weeks out and time for a breather before heading back across the pond. It’s been an amazing trip. Thousands of people have joined the movement on various campaigns with Oxfam, to make the world a fairer place for us all to live. Oxfam France Agir-ici, Oxfam Deutchsland, Intermon Oxfam, Oxfam International, Ucodep and Oxfam in Italy, Oxfam Novib and now Oxfam-in-Belgium have worked together to make this an amazing tour. A massive thank you to all of our volunteers! Coldplay have really hit their stride. Enjoying each and every concert. The crowd reaction has been incredible.

I had a seat a bit far for the concert and could only see their faces on the screens. Although the music got me shaking, and crying, and dancing. And to see them move in real. Chris's walk is so .. English. Lovely.

And then this miracle happened, thanks to Carla and Chavi for wanting to stay when the security told us everyone was gone. The german vans were there so, we waited. 2 hours. We got wet but not soaked as such. There was only the 3 of us at the players door. We got to talk to lovely Pete of Oxfam, and also to Reno bass player of Albert H. Jr.
Chris must have been working on this letter about the EP. He came out at 1:30 am. We were nearly frozen and then :flutterby: we melted.

i am not so badly unhappy because i am still going to 3 more shows this year and if possible another one too in NY if i win tickets for Yahoo music live sets.Because i stay in New Jersey and i gave them all my address.

i already made some signs for 2 shows that i go too they will any how see them when all the people hold them up at the concerts that's not at all a problem for me becuase even though other people hold or not i'll do it.

Okay the review: here it goes
I arrived at the venue at about 14:30, My sister and brother in law held a space for me in the front of the line which was really nice of them… also tnx to all the people who let me in there! My sister had been preparing all these people saying I was actually their biggest fan but I just couldn’t make it!
Chavi arrived at 16:07 (was in my texts) I was all weeeeeeeeee first time I met her and I was just sooo happy My stalker soulmate!
Unfortunately some people from the Ahoy came in just before her and sort of closed the lines securing the front row people which was good for us… but not for Chavi, she had to stand a bit further away So I told her to run run run like hell and we’d keep a space for her up front
Lauren (Lauve) arrived quite soon after and we surprised her with the fact Chavi was there (she had a feeling but she wasn’t sure) Lauren had a seat and so she was able to stand with Chavi so she wouldn’t be alone.. although I think chavi made a dutch friend in line who was very supportive…
18.30 doors opening awfull security woman held me and my sister up for too long! Made us show our camera’s while other people from behind us were going through!.. but it was okay when we got in… Tim was up at the fence and held a spot for me! My sister was okay standing behind us.
I turned as soon as I got in and tried to climb a bit up the fence waving and yelling CHAVIIIIIIIIIIIIII
At first there was a woman between us and we asked if she could let her trough cause we were together, but she was saying how she should have been there earlier… after a couple of minutes though she realized we really were together and she let Chavi through a bit and she was able to stand right behind me. (so thanks for that!)
I brought some blue and red balloons and Chavi and I decided to blow them up… and write things on it with marquer.. I think we annoyed some people.. so sorry for that but we wrote coldplaying.com and people read it soo that was good! Also wrote: thump a bass, hump the bass player… and Phil is hot! We threw most of them into the venue but kept those I wrote in our hands for the show…
20:30 right on time Albert Hammond JR.. I never heard anything before but I liked it! The bass player was really enthusiastic and encouraged us to clap along.. chavi and I did and he looked at us in approvement… we figured he’s the bass player and tried to throw the balloon with the humping on stage… it made it but only stayed there for a sec (you’ll think who cares.. but it’s important later!)

The Coldplay-ticket I got, I bought from someone else, because due to circumstances I wasn't able to get one myself, but this ticket was sent bij email, so I only have a piece of paper as a "ticket" and not really a "real" ticket. Is there anybody here who doesn't do anyhting with his ticket of 02-10-08 and would like to give it to me? You would make me very happy!

part 3:
We couldn’t get outside fast enough… I wanted to get a tourbook but the line was too big… so chavi and I decided to stalk immediately but I ran into my boss… and then my collegue who were asking about us and my boss saw me on the screen she told me she’d buy my Antwerp tickets from me she wanted to go again so badly!! Cutteee! But then we were like.. we should goo stallkkkkkkk!! Were outta here! My sister and tim came along with us and we met Lauren again at a spot we agreed to before the show… the tourbusses were right around the corner and easy accesable…
I remembered from a R#42 blog that they were driving around in vans with german plates, and I saw I van lke the one I saw at brixton.. so while everybody hung back I went to check the plates.. and they were…. GERMANN weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I went to get Chavi and the rest and I was like we stay near this door and were not leaving until these vans are gone!!! Period! I had my marker and rush of blood to the head cd booklet ready! So now we wait… we saw the afro woman.. ( I think she’s Kelly chief of security that R#42 mentioned before?)
And I told everybody that she was there at brixton when Guy and jonny came out and now I was sure at least somebody was inside! Weeeee!
A lot of people passed us by, also someone with an Oxfam jacket and Chavi said:
‘Tnx for your blogs!’ he turned around and said: ‘what?’ and then I recognized him and it clicked I said:’ you’re Pete right?’
He was in utter surpise and was like.. uhmm yeah how do you know?!?!
So I said you’re famous too! We always read your blogs they’re really great, he seemed so flattered he had some fans! And he came over to us and we chatted for quite some time! He told us a lot of thing, first we asked if he got a lot of signatures and he was very pleased and talked about that.. than we asked about touring with the band.. some security passed us by saying we should leave cause the band had left with a police escort! First I said: don’t lie man I see the van I know someone is back there but he insisted and then I said well doesn’t matter cause were talking to Pete right now!
Then of course we had to ask if he knew anybody wass till inside… he said he wasn’t sure… and I just blurted out: could you check… so rude.. but I took it back immediately! We told him we’d be going to Antwerp tomorrow and he said well then I’ll probably see you there! Then he went to get a shower and left us again..
Some guys from albert’s band came out and we recognized the bassplayer! Chavi told him we were clapping for him and he was like owwh yeah I remember then I told him we’d thrown a balloon on stage for him especially and he said ooh no I missed it! (we didn’t tell him what it said though) and we’d be at the Antwerp show as well, he was really impressed and asked us to bring balloons again so he could find us and hook us up with a guitar pick or a drumstick or something! Soo sweet!
We then asked to take his picture and I said: we don’t even know your name! he said: call me what ever you like…. So chavi.. quick as she was said: Okay Judy! :lol: he then went back in.. and my sister and tim left cause they were tired and it was cold… it also started to rain… Tim gave us a piece of plastic before he left and his cd booklet.. just in case..! we stood under the piece of plastic and waited…. Another security guard kept opening the door and looking at us… by the 3rd time I was like: yeah we’re stil here… were die hard were not going anywhere! He then started talking to us asking us where we were from and he turned out to be dutch so I spoke to him for a little while, and asked him if we were waiting for no reason, he said oh the rest have left, but HE is still inside… what d o you mean he? Chris??!?!?!?!
Also one of the vans left with miller and some woman.. we said hi to miller and thanked him for the blog and the spreadin the love sign… but I guess he was a bit rushed.. Kelli (?) told the driver he needed to come back again for someone else (chris maybe)
He said: yeah I’m pretty sure I’ll go check if you want… uhmmm YEAHHHHH
He came back and confirmed! Weeeeeeeee chris still there! We were meeting chris!!
In the mean time the bassist from alberts band came back and brought us 2 setlists and signed them, said his name was Reno.. he ffelt sorry cause he didn’t have anything for lauren, went back inside and got a tour schedule (VERY HELPFUL L BTW) and so sweet of him to do that!
The van that had gone came back… and so we wait
Then Pete came back out and I said hey pete: are you nice and clean ?(don’t start.. I know…)
And he said Oh your still here! we chatted some more (did I mention how nice he was?) And then the van pulled up to the door… a lotta things happened quickly and pete said: I ‘ll leave you alone cause someone who might still be inside is coming out now and I don’t want to ruin your chance… CUTEEEE! We said bye and then the door opened….

then I asked: I don’t mean to be rude but could you sign this one for Tim? Which he did! And said: oh no it’s okay! We told him the gig was awesome! And I said I loved his shirt about a gazillion times! Lauren asked about his cold and he thanked her and said it was much better he signed her T-shirt, and someone dropped the cap of the marker.. Chris picked it up for us… such a gentleman!! I was like leave it it’s just the cap! Think he handed it back to Lauren (right?) He also signed Chavi’s banner and made a little face!
We asked to take pictures, and Chavi said her battery was dead so I said it’s okay my camera is still working so I gave it to her and she took a pic of me, mine and chris’ face are probably weird cause I think we were talking about Barack and how he should win, and that we got all excited about the shirt when we saw it on the Lyon blog
I took a pic of chavi and the it turned out my battery was about empty as well so I quickly took a pic of him and Lauren and he was getting to the van
We told him we’d come to Antwerp tomorrow and he said I’ll look for you or see you then not sure… either way COOOL
I told him to say HI to the others from us and he said he would, and I also told him to tell Guy he owed me a signed brixton T-shirt and he said: Yeah I know… (he doesn’t but okay)
And that was it.. he got in and they drove off, we waved and lauren said Chris was knocking on the window letting us know he saw us cause the windows were black although I didn’t hear that I thought it was the cutes thing EVER we stayed calm until that moment! We were all WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEE
I could hardly believe I had been that calm I saw the security guy that got us info and knocked n the window showing the signatures and blowing him a kiss… (yeah maybe that was too much)
He came outside again and asked us to go for drinks… but we were so tired, and we needed to take lauren to the station soo we jumped around the parking lot screaming and dancing to my car! Weeeeee! Chris martin Nicest sweetest cutes man EEVERRR
So far Our firt night… chavi and I were in bed by 3ish… :uhoh:
