Hello you good people, decided to give up my lurking, and break my coldplaying forum virginity.
Anyway,
With regards to the Brixton tickets, my mate applied for some for me as well as myself, but hes on holiday.
Basically you CAN change the names on the tickets because I have already got my tickets which my friend passed on to me to put my name on them, BUT what this stops is touting outside the venue on the night because you need photo i.d which matches whats it says on your ticket.
Just thought id let you know.
so its kinda bad news on the ebay front :(

I'm up late but I didn't get anything just so you know. Blargh.
It really is heartbreaking to see just really greedy people selling off their tickets and knowing those people who get them won't get in. What a shame.
They should give tickets to us guys next time! But yeah, now I have to wait a loooong time to see them. Until next year... :(

That's shit... I think we should keep a watch for all the eBay scalpers to report them, 'cuz it's really unfair that people have to pay their way in.

Hello all,
I got my email this afternoon and have ordered them through ticketmaster (to the other person on here who won, have you received the actual ticket email yet? I haven't and I'm a bit nervous...)
I however, will definitely be going! I got tickets to the Steve Lamacq gig at the forum a few years ago and it was the first time I ever saw them live. It was amazing and although I've been to several larger gigs since (Earls Court, Crystal Palace, Glastonbury) that smaller venue was the best.
And the bonus is, it is only next Monday! I still can't wait.

i've only joined this forum today, but i seriously don't think we ought to be undertaking any kind of transactions with regards to tickets on these threads.
Besides, most people will have someone to take with them. If my friend pulled out then i would ask another 5 or so Coldplay fans friends of mine before i offered the ticket on here for nothing. Don't assume that those of us on here will suddenly offer our tickets for £100. Of the few i've been exchanging dialogue with today are really not that narrow minded.

There is only one positive that I can take from this and that is the fact the show is live on the radio.
Although saying that, I'll have to record it as I have now accepted two tickets to go and watch some Twenty20 cricket at Lords after missing out on Brixton.

People offering silly money on here for tickets is just a further slap in the face who haven't won, but who would have given their spare ticke to another fan for what it cost (i.e. NOTHING!)
I understand that people will go to any lengths to get tickets but I wish this wasn't the place for it.

The email was sent at 01.27 pm (of today, 10 June))
and it says:
Dear Coldplay fan,
You have been successful in the lottery to gain two tickets to see Coldplay at the Carling Academy Brixton on Monday, 16 June 2008. You will have 48hrs from Tuesday, 10 June at 9am to apply for your tickets by clicking on the above link. Please note, there is a ticket limit of two per person.
Your unique password is: XXXXXXX. Please enter this when prompted in order to claim your tickets.
When you attend Coldplay at the Carling Academy Brixton on Monday 16th June 2008, you will be required to provide a valid photo I.D that corresponds to the name on the ticket. If you have applied for two tickets, the 2nd person must be with you on entering the venue. Failure to comply with these two conditions will invalidate the tickets and entry will be refused.
Doors will open at 6.30pm on the night. The band will be on stage any time from 8.30pm. You are advised to arrive early due to the I.D checks that will be undertaken.

GA means 'General Admittance' I believe. To a previous poster, I went to the Boosh too! Yes, it is seating for comedy downstairs but standing for concerts. GA2, GA3 etc is either different doors or just a way of numbering the tickets.
I must have been to 15-20 gigs there over the years and it has never been seated.

Nick, Jackus, everyone, we have all lost and it's heartbreaking...
I probably won't be visiting this thread anytime soon, if again at all, but just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their camaraderie, funny jokes, and positivity all through this. We won't be going, but damn we've had some fun along the way :) Lurkers have de-lurked to glorious effect and I think many of us have bumped into new people who have cheered our day.
This has been abysmally run imo. I'll certainly enter any comps again, but will expect to lose as I surely will again if the organisation's not improved over this time. The very fact only a few people here won tickets show how many entries must have been received.
I may still head up on Monday on the off-chance, but only if I have a back-up plan to listen to the gig somewhere and enjoy it as much as I can if I don't get in. Which isn't very likely, unless the weather's fine and a ton of us meet up somewhere with a portable radio and a crate of beer for a singalong. Maybe we should start a thread about something like that...?
Wherever I am I will just try to enjoy the new live music as much as possible, and look forward to the BBC gig. Three entries got through for that one in the first twenty minutes, so I'm hopeful. If I get more than four there will be two spare and they will go to some of the fine folks on this thread. We all deserve a little something I reckon.
Thank you so much again to everyone. Let's try still to be positive (hard as it is after a kick in the proverbials like this)

okay, well i have just registered, oddly enough after waiting and hanging to see if i had won tickets for the past week near enough, sadly, my luck has not played well on this occasion, however, in one last desperate bid i would like to say to anyone who has tickets and cannot go, or has a spare ticket, i would be interested, not so the other person can make money out of me (i.e ebayers) but i would be willing to "donate" shall we say, for the kind gesture. i am gutted to see so many people on here have not won, after all, most of you guys seem like the true fans! i have seen coldplay twice, once at earls court 05, and at the isle of whight festival 06, and the third time, well, either at the bbc or it will be in december at the o2 ffor my twenty first birthday!
also, i really do hope anyone who hasnt won on this occasion wins the bbc tickets, or something of similar sentiment to themselves soon, as the fact that touters have their hands on them is morally wrong.....
Peace

Didn't win either, but just wanted to say that it was nice waiting with all of you guys in this thread. Made it a bit more bearable. :)
I guess I'm much more dissappointed now than I would have been last Thursday. Making us wait for so long was way torturous, but what can you do. I'm glad I can claim my life back from the person who was obsessively checking my emails the last few days and wasn't really able to concentrate on something else.
Small hope for the BBC thing, but I guess I won't be lucky there either.

This is the email confirmation recieved for the Madison Sq Garden winners:
Order #XXXXX
This is your order number for your pair(2) of tickets to the Free Coldplay show at Madison Square Garden on June 23rd, 2008. Doors are scheduled for 7:00pm. Showtime is scheduled for 8:00pmYou will learn your seat locations when you receive your tickets in the mail. Tickets will be mailed via US Mail - Delivery Confirmation. Tickets will be mailed on or before June 13th, 2008. They will be mailed from Musictoday in Crozet, VA. You will receive a white bubble padded package in the mail. Be on the lookout! You will also receive a shipping confirmation email on the day that your tickets ship.We know we've told you before, but we're going to tell you again. DON'T SELL THESE TICKETS. We're watching and we'll catch you. Trust us! If you can't make it, email or call us. We'll find some other fan who will go in your place. Thanks again. We'll see you at the show!
now this is exactly the kind of hard headed approach the Brixton gig required. and to make it quite plain and simple that if they can't make it, email or call them so that they can be passed onto another fan. well, at least we won't be seated at Brixton, like MSG.

Feeling a lot brighter today and hope you all are too. If Coldplay don't mind playing to a 3/4 full audience and having some of their best-looking, talented and most-devoted fans not get in then it's their loss not ours, ha! :)
I've reported three sellers to ebay this morning for trying to hawk these FREE FOR FANS tickets, and all three seem to have been removed. I reported that the conditions of the draw were that the tickets are non-transferable and must not be sold on. Let's hope these people who obviously have no intention of going don't redeem their code, and the extra tickets are released back to FANS!

Just a note to those that didn't win, it says on the email that you have 48 hours from 9am Tues to claim the tickets via Ticketmaster. So maybe unclaimed ones will be redrawn tomorrow. You never know.
I am still waiting for Ticketmaster to email me the actual tickets. I am getting a bit worried even though the cheerful man on their helpdesk assures me that they are going to email them to me but they're having a few problems with their system! So close...

I am hopeful, that they will redraw some unclaimed tickets tomorrow. For the NY Show it says: "If you can't make it, email or call us. We'll find some other fan who will go in your place."
So maybe indeed everythings's not lost. :)

Pair of tickets just sold on ebay for £50:veryangry2:
It looks like ebay are dealing with it - the listing's been deleted from the 'completed listings' section. It's either a cover up by ebay or the seller will be in some trouble now :)

I am hopeful, that they will redraw some unclaimed tickets tomorrow. For the NY Show it says: "If you can't make it, email or call us. We'll find some other fan who will go in your place."
So maybe indeed everythings's not lost. :)
Still congratulations to all the winners here!
NOOOOOOOOOO! don't give us hope!!
The last thing we need is MORE disappointment!
I'm happy now, knowing i've lost
and there is NO CHANCE WHATSOEVER of me winning! :P :laugh3:
so I'm going to forget what you just said :P

I'm pretty pissed off. Considering I coded a script that filled in everything for me as soon as the page would load, I am surprised I wasn't in the first 250 :(

Hey Dean, it was never a first come, first served competition. they take all the people that registered and then select the winners randomly.

I entered this competition from the San Jose Marriott Hotel in Costa Rica while on holiday. So technically yes, I was outside the UK (and then some!)
Luckily (or not) I live in Catford and can get the P4 nearly all the way to Brixton Academy - nice!
Here are the golden tickets. Poor quality in case they get forged... For info, Ticketmaster told me this morning that all the tickets are barcode scanned at the venue as well as being ID checked. I'll be interested to see how the touts deal with this outside, the whole sheet of A4 is the ticket.

Hey everyone, know it sounds silly but I am looking for a ticket to Brixton or BBC gig... yeah yeah, me too I am a Russian law student, living here in London for a while. Coldplay are not going to Russia anytime soon, I am leaving the UK in the end of June so this is a unique chance for me to see my favourite band live... To sum up, I would be absolutely happy if anyone could share a spare ticket to any of the June gigs of Coldplay with me
my e-mail is alnimor@gmail.com :drummer:

I already booked flights and bus-transfers so I will be at Brixton Academy but I don't know if I can enter. Maybe there is someone who can enter with me... :)
