the male chorus on DAAHF is the best piece of music ever heard from coldplay!!!!!!!

escapist is actually only the atmospheric introduction of LiT, with lyrics...

I'm just glad the Grey's Anatomy debate is over. And the whole song is pretty good to boot.

I still can't believe Grey's Anatomy cut out like the absolute best part of the song. It made listening to it tonight so much better. Definitely one of the top 3 on the album so far for me. Can't even decide on a favorite yet!

DAAHF's reminds me some of Fix You. Starts out kinda slow, minimal use of interments like the piano and such. Then the guitars come in and everything starts banging and becomes very full and alive. Then once it hits the end it slows back down some, instruments drop out and such. Sorta a trend in many good Coldplay songs as well.

Brilliant song also- like people have said before

I totally agree. I would currently go as far as saying the best piece of music ever written. I have only one other time almost cried because of my euphoric immersion in the music.

This is one of my favorites from the album (maybe even 2nd favorite, but 42 and Yes and Cemeteries of London are all bouncing around in my top 3). When the heaviness comes in...I get shivers. Best album closer since Amsterdam.

The Escapist really is brilliant. It's one of their shortest songs, and it's light on lyrics, but it's one of the most emotional things they've ever done, I think.

I thought it was a great twist that The Escapist turned out to be a version of Life in Technicolor. Of course I should've known! I'd already read way back that the same guy wrote them!

I love the part in Death and All His Friends where the band just belts it out! "I don't wanna follow Death and all his friends!"

DaAHF is, in my opinion, one of the greatest songs they've ever written, if not the greatest song. Just so beautiful and uplifting... ^^

I really like the Escapist, actually - it's a fitting end to a nice album - out similarly to the way it came, but even more dreamlike.

All winter we got carried
Away over on the rooftops
Lets get married

All summer we just hurried
So come over just be patient
And don’t worry
So come over, just be patient
And don’t worry

So come over, just be patient
and don’t worry

And don’t worry

No I don’t want a battle from the intuit
I don’t wanna cycle, recycle revenge
I don’t wanna follow death and all his friends

No I don’t want a battle from the intuit
I don’t wanna cycle, recycle revenge
I don’t wanna follow death and all his friends

:uhoh: if that makes sense.

It feel like they really mean it, in that chorus bit. beautiful!!!

Wow, I must say the song is the most beautiful thing I have heard, and I haven't heard the whole album yet, I just randomly click the song and play it.

Well, as for lyrics, for me, it sounds more like

-----------

No I don't want a battle from beggining to end.

-----------

Sounds more beastly.

I think you put one too many "a battle", but otherwise thats definitely it. Not sure where the "intuit" word came from.

The line after it is "I don't want a cycle of recycled revenge", by the way

This song took my breath away. Both DAAHF and The Escapist make perfect album closers. After DAAHF ended, I felt like I could just, like, totally die. Then The Escapist came on, and it made me all warm and fuzzy that I just had to go around hugging everyone in the room with me!

About The Escapist:

I can't describe exactly how this song makes me feel! It's so strange because LIT is such an uplifting song to me (as I remember they were all very happy playing it in that video), but when I listen to The Escapist I wanna cry! I imagine myself at the end of a Coldplay concert and feel very happy for the amazing experience but the same time very sad because it's ending! And no matter how hard I try to remember myself it's just an album and I'm gonna listen to it again and again I always have this feeling!

I've never been able to choose a favourite song off any of the COLDPLAY albums (either it's too hard, or it's always changing), but DEATH AND ALL HIS FRIENDS/ THE ESCAPIST I can say is my number one. :D

Reading everyone's comments, I understand exactly how you all feel. This is just genius! Clearly one of the greatest COLDPLAY songs ever created.

And all those THE ESCAPIST lovers, head over to 'The Great VLVODAAHF Elimination Game! (http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46280&page=2)' and save it!

ok, I've been going back and forth trying to settle on one, just one favorite from this album and I'm leaning towards Death and All his friends ( for all the reasons mentioned in the pages ahead of my post)

my only complaint? It's too short. It hooked me and while I like the transition into The Escapist, I'd love the song to make a swing back into the slower, piano based beginning....then if they want to segway to The Escapist, then great.

just got the cd today in the mail (a day early!)

and first i must say, this is by leaps and bounds their best album instrumentally and musically. its absolutely beautiful. its daring and everything works. the music alone is ... just extraordinary. im excited to listen another 1,000 times and learn the lyrics to the music.

but this song was moving from the second it started. this was my favorite song through my first listen. touching and beautiful, and...somehow upbeat and extraodinary. i dunno how they do it

Really emotional song... :) I love the way that Death And All His Friends (the song) ends and then The Escapist comes on, its a perfect way to round of the album.

I have to admit, I was listening to the whole album late last night, and when it got the The Escapist, I felt really emotional; and I'm the kind of person that's really hard to move like that!!

I feel the same way as everyone else thats posted here about this song so there is no use repeating it. :P
The choir just gives it another dimension especially when theyre humming just before the 'no i dont wanna ... follow death and al of his friends" part.
Is it just me or are the title tracks the stand outs on this album?

yep...couldn't agree with you more.....far and away the best song on the album

I'm somehow not feeling this song. It's okay I guess, but I think it meanders around aimlessly at times. It sounds like something a band would put together in a closing jam session, where they brought up a few of their other favorite musicians to joing them on stage. It just doesn't flow to me... I don't think it's unlistenable, just not something I would go out of my way to listen to. I think it's easily the weakest song on the album and doesn't conclude it the way I think it deserves.

i might to agree with you there.... i've been a BIG coldplay fan for a few years now. I have probably 90% of their songs albums and b-sides. this is probably they're best song ever. I think it really sums of their career nicely over the last few years. it take aspects of every great coldplay song and makes it into something great.
