Yay, I finally got a ticket for the show, too!
I'm really, really happy because it actually looked as I wouldn't see them in September due to the fact that by the time I eventually had decided whether to go Zürich or Munich both shows had been sold out... :\
But now I got a ticket for my birthday and I nearly freaked out. Seriously!
It'll be my very first Coldplay gig and I'll be on my own, so yes, I'm excited as hell! ;)
Anyone else attending that gig and having a standing ticket? :)

Hi, I'm a fellow European Coldplay Fan. I live in Vienna and will attend the Vienna concert on 24 September, I'm very excited because I've never seen the band live! :P
I also have a ticket for the Munich show on September 26, but I can't go to the show. :( If someone is interested in the ticket (GA), I'd gladly give it away.
I'm looking forward to the European tour and the fan reviews on this site.

I just notice that the concert in Munich will take place during the Oktoberfest! :D Do you think the fellas of Coldplay will this fair afterwards?
violet75
29-08-2008, 07:47 AM
I know. The Oktoberfest sucks.
Seriously, there are millions of people in the city, mostly drunk, and not one single hotel room to get.
Bad timing for the concert, but it will be great anyways.
Just a shame I can't go. I also have friends and relatives in Munich and wanted to combine the concert with a visit.

I'm going! To the concert, not the Octoberfest, that is.... I have seats somewhere, my friend keeps the tickets so I'm not sure but I think I remember her saying they're good seats!
I'm soooo excited! I've kept away from the forum to not get a Coldplay-overload before the concert...

Phew, been away a while but in the meantime it has become clear that I don't need to give away my Munich ticket because I can go to the show after all! Yeah! The Vienna concert will be my first, then Munich, I'm soooo looking forward. I have GA tickets for both concerts. Everyone who's going to the European concerts: Have a great time!

Competition: http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/music/artists/coldplay/article/3455.html
Coldplay are one of the biggest bands in the world right now, so we thought that we should give you one of the biggest Coldplay prizes in the world!
This is a money-can't-buy Coldplay experience.
On the 26 September, we'll be flying a listener and a friend from a secret location in the UK to Munich... with Coldplay. Yes, with the band themselves!
When you get to Munich you'll be given an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour to see what goes on backstage, have a bit of dinner while you're there, then you'll have the chance to sit in on their sound-check before the show.
Naturally, you'll get to see the Coldplay gig, who have become legendary for their energetic and passionate live acts over the past few years. Straight after the show, you'll then be flying home with the band, rounding off your ultimate Coldplay experience.
How to enter
We want to make sure the tickets go to the biggest Coldplay fan in the world, so we've devised a cunning scheme to find out who that is.
First of all, register here to get your name into the running. You must chose a Coldplay song and a topic.
If you are chosen to go on air, you must sing about your topic along to a karaoke version of the Coldplay song. Don't have a clue what we're on about? Check out Christian and Brian having a go!
All the daily winners will come into the studio on Thursday 25 September for the final Coldplay quiz. Contestants must bring a friend with them to be their 'Phone A Friend' lifeline.
The small important bit: Winner must have valid passport and be able to fly to Munich on Friday, returning Saturday very early morning. Daily winners must be able to travel to London for Thursday's Breakfast Show for the final.
:stunned: *spechless*
I hope a UK fan from here will win!!! Cause we need a fucking report of this!!
Ilione

Aww, what a funny competition! I think it'd certainly be quite a lot of fun to join, but I've already got my ticket for the show anyway. :D :laugh3:
@G o A: No worries about the report as I'll be there. ;)
6 days left!
Yay! Have fun! :crown:
---
edit:
I was looking for Coldplay tickets at eBay yesterday, and I actually had noticed already a few weeks ago that there are quite a few tickets for especially Munich. So yesterday I bid just for fun 20 € for a ticket, and guess for how much the ticket was sold in the end? 40 €. That's 20 € less than the original prize!! Unfortunately I just can't afford another concert (plus the stupid train ticket) ... it really drives me crazy... But I wanted to tell you guys, check out eBay, there are still real cheap tickets for Munich!! *cries* :( :(
Oh sorry, I just noticed when I was editing my comment this midday it wasn't pushed up. So yeah, look above if you still want to get tickets for that concert...

hi everyone,
i'm looking for 2 arena (=standing) tickets. I know there's a lot on ebay, but i thought i might try it here as well. i can pick up the tickets anywhere in munich.
pm me if you have some left. thank you very much!
oh and by the way, does anyone know when they will arrive at the airport, what hotel they're staying at or if the go to the octoberfest? i'd really love to drink a beer with them and/or get a photo :-)

hi,
I would really like to try seeing them at the airport, but I have no idea which terminal and at what time they'll be arriving.:(
Is somebody else going or has an idea?
Thanx
sledgehammer
23-09-2008, 01:44 PM
@picaflor
i'd also like to see them at the airport. I'm guessing they'll arrive at terminal 1, because terminal two is limited to star alliance carriers (lufthansa etc.). most private jets arrive at terminal 1. but i have no idea when they'll arrive, but my guess is on thursday. they have the vienna show tomorrow, so it's likely they come thursday to have an extra day in munich (octoberfest maybe?)...
on the website of the airport is this tool where you can check arrivals and departures, but i dont know if private flights show up on that list.
update: i just called the airport and i was told that there is an extra terminal for private flights called General Aviation Terminal. I'll call them up tomorrow, they might know something by then.

I've been looking forward to it for months and now the day's finally arrived!

I've also found a webcam of the Olympiahalle in Munich. It's quite dark, but one can see the already built up stage:

I am from Hamburg, have seen them there on September 14th and was completely blown away :o
So great that I had to go all the way down to Munich with the train and a waggonload of drunken tourists heading for the Oktoberfest :) ;)
Which row do you have seats for?
We will be sitting row 12, seats 5 & 6 (if I remember it correctly).
Maybe see you there?!

Okay, this will probably be to late for you but I guess they will be flying in to Munich just for the concert.
There's this competition for UK citizens and the winner will win a trip to Munich with a private jet together WITH THE BAND (at least that's how I understand it) and the flight will take place on Sept. 26th, so today.
I guess they will probably arrive around this time now, doing the soundcheck and stuff ...
But of course I'm not sure

Coldplay several gold and platinum awards
Cologne, 18.09.2008 - Shortly before one of her performances have been acclaimed German Coldplay by EMI Music Canada with three gold and platinum awards honored.
Over 300,000 Germans have the world's most successful current album, "Viva La Vida" since the publication in June bought. Chris Martin and his band have been colleagues for this success with a triple Gold Award.
For more than 500,000 albums sold in Germany from their previous studio release "X & Y" was the band 5 times the gold award.
But it still waited a third award for the world's most successful band: EMI Music Canada over the Coldplay-platinum award for the unique DVD "Live 2003".
Still in the gold-and platinum-rush off the superstars on the stage with 19,000 fans sold out Lanxess Cologne Arena. In the past four concerts in Mannheim, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin were Coldplay before frenzied sold-out arenas for their grand show celebrated.
On 26.09. The band returns to its last German being the sold-out concert in Munich's Olympic hall.

Oh my god, it was so amazing! I honestly have never ever been to such an awesome concert! It had everything you'd want. It was really an unforgettable experience and I definitely want to see them again this tour. I'm still speechless.
They rocked the house real good. We were in the 2nd row right in the middle.
I also have some videos but I don't know how to upload them.
I can't believe it's already over :-(
By the way, Albert Hammond Jr was not really in good shape tonight and played just about 20 minutes.

Awesome show!! I'm still finding paper butterflies in my clothes and pockets :)
The band and crowd were all in a great mood, and Chris was very talkative, saying that the show was being recorded for the launch of a new UK radio station (the name of which has temporarily slipped my mind), and also making a few Oktoberfest references.
I have videos of Postcards from Far Away and The Scientist, which I'll upload when I can.

I also have some videos but I don't know how to upload them.
I can't believe it's already over :-(
By the way, Albert Hammond Jr was not really in good shape tonight and played just about 20 minutes.

I was there, too! It was amazing! My personal highlight was the piano version of 'The Hardest Part' - sooo beautiful.
Unfortunately, the sound was a bit crappy at times, as it usually is at this venue... Also, Chris' voice sounded like he has a bit of a cold or a sore throat, but he still sang beautifully. He said that the concert was being recorded for absolute radio, hopefully they'll put the whole thing online soon...?

The famous and big Süddeutsche Zeitung (Southern German newspaper) just published this article:
Coldplay in München

Or: Death And All His Friends."

Chris was very talkative, saying that the show was being recorded for the launch of a new UK radio station (the name of which has temporarily slipped my mind),
Its Virgin, relaunching themselves as Absolute Radio. They had a competition this week, and the winner flew with Absolute & the band to the gig.
He said that the concert was being recorded for absolute radio, hopefully they'll put the whole thing online soon...?
its going to air on Wed 1st October around 7pm GMT. if you've downloaded the Coldplaying toolbar, you can listen to it on either Absolute or Virgin Radio.

Well, everybody, now I'm finally back, a little bit recovered and managed to get "my head out of the clouds" again. At least a tiny little bit. Or whatever. ;) My ears are still ringing, my head, feet and back are still aching, but you know what? I just don't care as I had the time of my life! Therefore I'd happily do it all over again and again and again because it was so much worth it!!
So, what can or what should I say except
IT WAS SO ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!
Well, being honest, I actually didn't expect anything less, but I also didn't expect them to blow me away like THAT, either. ;)
So here's my "little" step by step review, just in case anybody's still interested...
When I arrived at the venue at about 2 o'clock, absolutely no one was there, so I took the chance and used the time for a little walk through the amazing Olympiapark and to get something to eat. I really haven't been away for such a long time, but when I finally came back there were already a few people sitting at the entrances... I guess it must have been because of the soundcheck which had just started. So I sat down at another door and listend to Chris singing "There was snow, white snow..." all over again and again. It was kind of funny because Violet Hill was the only song they practised for a whole while and after that they just played a few bits of VLV and CoL. That was everything.
So after a while a security guy told us to leave the doors and stand behind the barricades. And that was when the very boring and difficult part of the "adventure" began... Because having to stand and wait for about 5 hours in the freezing cold all on your own among not too chatty people who were only fooling around with the security guys wasn't that much fun at all and the time was passing by so slowly...
But luckily, they let us in about half an hour earlier and as I was one of the first ones to get inside, I finally found myself standing in the middle of the first row, right between Jonny and Chris. :D
So I patiently waited for Albert to enter the stage and nearly fell asleep due to the very tiresome music that was played... :laugh3:
At exactly 8 o'clock, the lights went off and Albert entered the stage... Never having listened to his songs before, I was quite curious how it'd be, but being honest, Albert disappointed me for some reason... I mean it wasn't the fact that I didn't like his music, but I didn't like the way he acted - or actually DIDN'T act - on the stage... He seemed very exhausted and pretty lethargic, just like he didn't really enjoy the performance and didn't want to be there... Which was a pity, because I think his songs were quite nice.
Again, the tiresome music was played , but this time the crowd got more and more excited... But at 9 o'clock, there was still no sight of the guys of Coldplay and everybody got cutty... 10 minutes later the song by Jay-Z was played and then it was time for "An der schönen blauen Donau". And that actually was when one of my hightlights of the evening took place... A couple who had seats stood up and danced a waltz to the song! The whole crowd was clapping and cheering for them. It was so hilarious indeed! :laugh3: I wonder whether the guys saw it behind the stage because the big applause at the beginning of LiT was at least half for the couple.
Now my heart started beating faster and faster because I couldn't believe it just began and that they were standing so close to the spot where I was! I think LiT is such a perfect song to begin and it definitely was one of my favourite parts of the evening and I didn't want it to end... VH sounded just absolutely awesome but was over too fast, too. Clocks took me by surprise, I somehow didn't expect them to play it but I really enjoyed it. Chris sounds so awesome when he's playing on the piano! When they played SoS afterwards, I was a bit afraid that they'd put CoL off the setlist, but everything was fine when the magic balls turned blue and I could hear the first tunes of it. I'd have loved to watch Chris and Jonny fooling around on the side stage during IMP, but I couldn't see much of the happenings on the side stages from my spot, unfortunately. But what I could hear was totally lovely! :D Furthermore, I really loved the intro of 42 and the part when Chris wouldn't stop singing "And I will try to fix you..." at the end of Fix you. He also let us sing the end of the song and said it was "fantastic". What a liar. :laugh3: I was very happy they decided to play Strawberry Swing and Chris's little acting parts were just too hilarious! Then they moved on to Guy's side stage and played the dance version of GPASUYF. Being honest, that actually was the only song I didn't really like... It sounded a little bit too weird to my ears. But what I truly loved was the dance version of Talk. That one rocked indeed! :D
After that, the other guys left Chris all alone on the piano, playing THP. And that was the moment I was totally blown away! It definitely was my highlight of the night because it was so absolutely beautiful and really got me and Postcards from far away sounded lovely as well. :)
So now I guess the moment for which everyone has been waiting finally arrived as it was time for VLV. The whole crowd went crazy and sang along enthusiasticly. :) When the crowd eventually had stopped singing "oooohooooo ooo", Lost! was played which is an awesome live song, too! Then our guys disappeard and after a while they popped up among the audience in the back of the venue and played The Scientist and DWNC. It was magical and I had goosebumps all over my body!
As the VLV remix was played while they were on their way back to the stage, it got dark and everybody was singing "oooohoooo ooo" again. Then very bright flashing lights turned on again and I felt like blind while the first tunes of Politik could be heard. Chris then played a to me totally unknown instrumental part as a kind of outro which sounded very nice indeed.
All too soon it was time for the butterflies to come down on our heads and the effect of it and Chris singing LiJ in the background was just phenomenal! I've eagerly been awaiting DAAHF to be played as I believed the song's climax must be so breathtaking live! And it really was! What a fabulous way that is to put an "end" to the show! :o When they'd left the stage, my biggest fear was that they'd put Yellow off the setlist as well, but when the whole venue finally was flooded with yellow lights I felt relieved again but also kind of sad because I knew that this would be the last song... So after one of the best 5 minutes of my life, it was time to say goodbye...
Thinking about it now, I actually think Chris has been pretty chatty last evening. Well, maybe not so much at the beginning of their performance, but he grew into it more and more during the show. He for example told us that he thought it was really kind of us to spend two hours or our precious time at the Oktoberfest just to see them. And once during the middle of their show, he told us he knew about the not-so-good relationship between the British and German people, but that they were trying and doing their best to make it better. And before they started playing The Scientist, he talked for quite a while... About the airing of the show by a new launched radio station called Absolute Radio and also about his drink which was a mixture of water and whiskey according to his account. :laugh3: Chris later introduced us to Will as he told us that he knew that lead singers could be very annoying and that he too believed that they sometimes were "a pain in the arse". :laugh3: And at some part during their performance he also wished us "a happy Oktoberfest" again. ;)
Well, now I honestly can't think of anything else to tell you as I'm still pretty out of my mind. ;) But I'm just about to upload my videos and photos and I will post the links to them as soon as possible! :)
All in all, I have to say that this was the best concert I've ever attended and I'm so glad I got the chance to be there! COLPLAY SO ROCKED MY SOCKS! :) I wish I'd have a ticket for the show in Zürich tomorrow, though... I now want to be there soooo badly... :(

Question: What's Chris' problem with the German language ? Pretty courageous to say "German ist Scheiße" in a German crowd^^ It's probably hard to learn .. and it might not be as beautiful sounding as French :P (plus ..the most foreigners (mostly those who think Hitler is still alive and is the Chancelor of Germany ) relate it to the strict and choppy voices of the members of the Naziregime )...but it's not bad as that.. is it ? ^^

The band and crowd were all in a great mood, and Chris was very talkative, saying that the show was being recorded for the launch of a new UK radio station (the name of which has temporarily slipped my mind), and also making a few Oktoberfest references.
In case nobobdy answered that question before, if I remember correctly it was something like 'Absolute Radio' or so?!?
Did anyone know this station and possibly recorded the concert or part of it or know when it will be aired?!?!
I would be very keen to get a copy of the tape :)
The concert itself was amazing ... as always!
But for me personally, Hamburg was a lot better as it was my very first Coldplay show and because the sound and Chris's voice was also better than in Munich ...
I am already thinking about going to the UK in December.
Anyone got a spare ticket?!?! ;)

Chris wasn't moaning about the language
You probably missed a tiny but very important word as he said 'MY german is scheisse' ;)
Which gives a completely different impression ;)
I thought he was doing pretty well talking german as it wasn't these stereotypes of sentences just like 'Ein Bier bitte!' aso.
I thought he was quite funny when he was talking (in english) about singers usually being a pain in the ass ... :laugh3:

Here's the link to listen online :)
http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/listen/
But you better log in early as I think the site will be very busy and may even crash when everyone from around the globe will log onto to listen online ;)
Thanks a lot! :)
Also, great pictures and videos everyone, I'm enjoying them very much. I didn't take any pictures, but I stood directly at the left catwalk in Vienna and at the right catwalk in Munich. The audience was a little bit better in Munich, but compared to other concerts I went to, the Vienna show was really great, audience-wise. :)
And Chris' German wasn't too bad, though he himself claimed it was "shit". He talked a bit more German in Vienna, we were quite surprised.

Canon Powershot S3 IS.
It's quite big to smuggle it inside the venue, but it makes good videos (and photos) for its price.

Well to be honest it doesn't really look like a "Maß" of wheat beer as you don't see a foam on the top. It somehow looks like apple juice. :laugh3:

lol true... well, he talked about that mixture of water and whiskey, so who knows ;)

Well, when they got back to the main stage, Chris already regretted having drunk it because he sighed and said something like "I shouldn't have drunk that one..." :laugh3:

I had it in my rucksack which they didn't even search. If they found it, I would say it's not a professional camera and hope for their understanding.
While filming Clocks, one of the security guys interrupted me, checked my camera and then left.

Coldplay - Munich - 26.09.2008
Just got back to work after an amazing weekend, seeing Coldplay finish there tour of Germany in the Olympic Hall. What can a say, regardless of whether you are a Coldplay fan or not, it was definately a great experiance. Brilliant backdrops, cool effects and overall a great concert. Only just a couple of days after all the videos are already being streamed on youtube. These are just a couple of my favorite, and its not just because it was where i was standing either.
You can see lots more videos of this concert on youtube but
, thats just a idea of what it was like.
Of course it wouldn’t be right to go to munich at this time of year without visiting the Munich Oktoberfest. Despite arriving at about 11 in the morning, all tents were already full and tens of thousands of people had already started drinking. So if you’re thinking about visiting oktoberfest, the best advice I give is…Book a Table, or you will have no chance of getting in there. Although, as an alternative to Oktoberfest you can always go into the city centre and visit the local brewery which just so happens to be opposite the “Hard Rock Cafe”. The hard rock has a great atmosphere and is a really cool place for a few beers ( or 5/6) with a huge mixture of nationalities but for the evening festivities you really need to jump in a taxi and get yourself to “kuntzfabrik”….and small area of bars and clubs that are a hell of a lot of fun.
well I apologise if this has turned into a bit of a munich review, but if you’ve been already then you will know its a fantastic city and if you haven’t, well you need to get your ass down there and experiance some proper german culture. I guarantee you’ll love it!!!

Coldplay in München
Gestern stand schon seit einigen Monaten “geheimes Geburtstagsgeschenk” in unserem Kalender.
http://www.winzipp.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/coldplay_pan02.thumbnail.jpg
“we wish you a happy octoberfest”).
http://www.winzipp.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/coldplay_03.thumbnail.jpg
Fluffi

I was a real "luckypig" (no idea if this exists in english, but maybe you guys know what I mean :), because I got a ticket on the day of the concert - I was sooooo happy.
And I was standing in the front row although I wasn´t at the entrance before 5 p.m.
It was fabulous, fantastic, amazing, unbelievable. I´m still feeling charmed...
I don´t want to describe the show again, it has already been done.
I just want to mention one thing. When the 4 said goodbye to the fans, there was a guy coming up next to me holding up a piece of paper that said something like "Will, please would you give me your drumsticks ?!" And Will read the paper, turned around and went for his drumsticks givig one to the guy and throwing the other one to somebody else !!!!!!
I was speechless with admiration about this close contact and interaction with the fans - and felt lucky for this guy
