I have for sale 2 sets of Coldplay Tickets for the M.E.N arena, 11/12/2008!!!
1 set (i.e a set of 2 tickets) is for the upper tier of the M.E.N
And 1 set (again with 2 tickets) is for the lower tier of the M.E.N
if anyone is interested, please reply to this message!
I have unfortunately been let down by some 'friends' that said that they would come with me, but now it comes to payment time they have bailed and now do not want to pay/come! :(
I therefore have 4 tickets that I do not need and would love to sell them to a fellow Coldplay fan!
So yeah, any inquiries welcome,
many thanks xxxx

slightly odd question, but are there any plans for a big meetup before the gig and or a meet up after the gig in a crazy kamikaze mission to try and meet the band from wherever it is that the band exit is at the m.e.n?
Jenjie
22-11-2008, 10:54 PM
as far as I know, the exit is on Great Ducie Street. and whenever I've been past it coming out of other gigs, its heavily securitied up because it opens straight out onto the main road. the pavement is only wide enough for 3/4 people to walk side by side, and the traffic is usually mental. I can see them either doing a blue-light dash the second the show ends or waiting a few hours for people to clear the area.
if you wanted to try and see them, I'm guessing before the gig would be your best bet. or work out which hotel they're staying at on the 11th.
oh, and I don't know of any meet-up at the moment
busybeeburns
22-11-2008, 11:06 PM
Being right in the city centre and attached to one of the main train stations in Manchester, the MEN Arena is not really conducive for that kind of thing as there are people all over the place all through the day and night, including drunks who probably don't even know who Coldplay are. That is if you haven't been run over by a taxi or fallen mistakenly off Platform 7 and stuck under a train on its way to Bolton Central. That said, good luck! :D

Hi there
I purchased 4 tickets for the MEN concert on 11/12/08. Unfortuneately the other people that were due to take the tickets cannot now attend.
Therefore I have 3 tickets available for Block 104. The ticket face value is £42.50 and I am not looking to make any money and to sell them for face value. I am happy to sell either 1, 2 or all 3.
This is genuine. I am attending the concert so collection can be made on the night of the concert at the venue.
So if you want to see one of the best live shows or know someone that does then get in touch.
Best wishes

Morning all,
I'm new to the forum and thought I'd let you know that I'm off to tonight's show. I saw them for the first time in Sheffield just over a week ago and they were amazing so I thought I'd look on Ebay and try and get a ticket for this one as well, where I've managed to get a genuine one at ticket face value.
Hopefully they will stick with the set list they've been using for the past few shows perhaps with a few additions. I'd like to see Yes included or something from X&Y say Low or What If (that'd be quite nice on the B set). A long shot but it would be brilliant if we had Shiver or Everything's Not Lost from Parachutes.
Edit: I best get relearning the lyrics for Green Eyes, just in case it crops up again!

That Chris Martin, he’s a dark horse. Actually, what are we saying? No he isn’t. He’s a man who usually screams up for what he believes in and uses the back of his hands like portable billboards for worthy causes.
But apparently, he was capable of keeping one little secret – the band’s crush on Take That, and their desire to be the Manchester four piece’s warm up act. “We were in the dressing room yesterday and, for whatever reason, we started singing Back For Good,” Chris told Coldplay.com last month. “We sang the whole thing, word for word, with all the right chords on our piano, without having to learn it or anything. It was great… if Take That want us to open for them, we’ll do it. The only problem is that we’ll have to get down the gym for a bit.” Or, CityLife reckons, just do a few more lengths on that runway he likes to work up a sweat on live…
Truth is, Coldplay are now much bigger than Take That. Since they exploded in 2000 with their second single, Yellow, they’ve sold more records than TT, cracked the US, scored No.1 albums across Europe, Australasia and America, married into Hollywood, secured an unblemished commercial (and, for the most part, critical) record, and even – if reports are true – nestled in near the top in some of the UK rich lists.
Grammy Awards
This week, the annual Grammy Awards announced that Coldplay had been shortlisted in seven catagories – the second largest number of nominations this year behind Lil Wayne and ahead of Jay-Z, who the band has recently worked with – including album of the year for Viva La Vida.
All former students at University College London (bassist Guy Berryman was the only one not to graduate in favour of concentrating on the band), Coldplay look and sound like a group that has always been aiming for international stardom. Martin admits his biggest heroes are U2 and 1980s Norwegian popsters A-ha – influences that Coldplay’s soft indie rock (and aspirational attitude towards the power of music to heal the world) often give away.
The secret to their success, then? CityLife reckons it’s what The Beatles knew: good melodies and timeless tunes. If you want the insider goss, though, you’ll have to keep your eyes on the backs of Martin’s hands...
Coldplay play the M.E.N. Arena on Thursday/Friday, December 11/12. Jon Hopkins, The High Wire support. Tickets are £38/£42. Call 0844 847 8000 to check availability.

Hi there,
i have 3 tickets for tonights show (11th) for sale in block 102, row w. 1st block back from the stage. all 3 of us cant make it tonight as i've had that bad bug thats been going around and ended up in hospital monday/tuesday and my brothers are also now ill too.
gutted i cant go tonight i took time off work to get these tickets 1st day of sale as well.
email me if anyone is interested, of course i don't want to make any money out of fellow coldplay fans and will even waive the £6.50 booking fee i paid on each ticket. so £42.50 each ticket (face value) is all i want.
email me on mikeshaughnessy@ntlworld.com
p.s. cos i'm not fit enough to leave the house, these tickets will have to be collected from my home (sale, south manchester) anytime today.

That was the set, including the usual Gnossienne No1 after Politik and the Back To Good after The Scientist.
Admittedly the crowd were a little slow to get going in terms of standing - the floor appeared to be up at the start and it took a while before the seats got going but by the end most of the 200s, including myself, were up. However, the singing was rather loud and good, with Chris getting the audience to sing bits over and over, particularly the last outro verse in Yellow and the ending of 42. He didn't, like in Sheffield, get the audience to sing the whole of Yellow instead singing the majority himself. Saying all that, Chris appeared to like the noise that everyone was creating (even if it was whilst sat down) and claimed that Manchester is one of the best crowds, were no1 out of 87(?) shows and had brightened up the bands' day.
The band themselves had as much energy as ever, Chris not missing an opportunity to leap around, Will banging the life out of his drums and Jonny and Guy moving around as much as they normally do.
I was pleased to see the return of the yellow balls during Yellow and was rather amused to see some people carrying them out of the arena at the end.
Personal highlights was a chance to see the songs that weren't played at Sheffield - The Hardest Part, Green Eyes, The Scientist (normal version) and Life In Technicolor II. Sadly Politik didn't have the same powerful impact on me this time as it did in Sheffield, where it literally sent shivers up my spine. I would have also preferred having Life In Technicolor II to open and have an extra song instead but not to worry, I enjoyed the set none the less.
But judging that I've just drank two pints of orange since I got in 20mins ago and am still sounding hoarse, suggests it was a good night. :)

You had the fun of trying to get away from the MEN by car. I took the quicker, easier, cheaper option of getting a tram to Piccadilly then a short bus ride back home.
I've got the piano part at the end of The Hardest Part constantly going through my head at the moment.

Soooooooo where to start?
Once upon a time, there was a boy who asked a girl to go to a concert with him. She had never heard of this band called Coldplay so she agreed to go to keep him company. The show opened with a very noisy, bangy song called Politik and she wondered what on earth she had gotten herself into, although the bass player in front of her was quite cute…………….
Think it might take a bit long if I start in 2002, how about this? :D
It was absolutely tipping it down, the motorway was snarled up in rush hour traffic, and there had been an accident. They thought they would never make it to the show. Luckily, the band had realised the weather conditions had delayed below so they started late……………………
Whaddya mean you don’t want to hear about 2005? :P

Half of them was anyway. The security here really stand out, in their bright yellow blazers. It was an odd sight when they all took their positions just before the doors. All these organised yellow dots, covering the arena entrances. The biggest line of yellow, being by the stage barriers. The dots of yellow were far less organised a few hours later. As balloons were thrown in to the crowd by the roadies at the mix desk, by the stage and up in the rafters. Yellow bopped and popped all around the place. Most of them, seemed to gravitate towards the stage. By the end of the song, Chris Martin was beating them away with his guitar, surrounded by inflatables.
It all looks like chaos when that happens. But it’s very well organised really. The balloon-inflating session has become a regular fixture of the schedule for a few of the roadies in the afternoon. I came down to get some t-shirts from the Oxfam case earlier, only to find it covered in yellow balloons!
Not discouraged though, I battled through the balloons, got my volunteers t-shirts, dished them out, and they went out there talking to the fans. Another incredible night for Oxfam and the petition here. 1970 more people made the pledge for Health and Education For All. Those governments will have to take note of the number of people signing up just on this tour, let alone, around the world.
The band are in full flow at the moment. ‘Lost!’ is beating through the Manchester Evening News arena. It’s a massive place. 14′000 people here tonight. That means 1 in 7 of that huge number, signed Oxfam’s petition. That’s awesome. The last time I was here, I came to see the Foo Fighters on my 18th birthday. That was a brilliant day. Today has been too. I like this place.
I wonder if Peter Kay will be at one of the shows. He used to work in one of those yellow blazers and returned for his own stand-up show here. I talked to one of the blazer people here earlier, who said she was here when he started. He’s a very funny man.
The band just finished ‘Green Eyes’ up amongst the crowd, so I should get on with it and get back upstairs. I just want to add one more thing. I hear that Manchester is the home of Coldplaying.com. I also saw the names of Ian and Jenny Betley on our petition earlier. Thank you Coldplaying people!
