the drum bit is a bit weird. i don't know. i thought they wanted to make music that's a bit more complex. instead all their instruments sound a little... cheap. i don't know. i still like it, but i think they have not developed a lot with their instruments.

i LOVE it. i mean, i still like VLV and maybe LIT better, but...this is just exact sort of thing i was hoping for. to me, this song in particular is a perfect mix of the styles of X&Y and AROBTTH...it's what X&Y could have been in my mind (even though i don't hate X&Y or anything like that :P).

but grey's anatomy? REALLY?! you know, i was actually going to watch last night because there was nothing better on, but then i found hot fuzz on cinemax, so there wasn't a contest about what i was going to watch...but GAH! i really need to learn to go with my gut feelings! :P
i don't know what i would have done, hearing this song unexpectedly in the show, though. probably convinced myself it wasn't coldplay, even though it so obviously is.

I'm pretty sure it's an edited version of Lovers in Japan now (2 vs 1), there's no way it's Death and All His Friends anyway.

I think they cut off the Reign Of Love bit and faded it out at the end of Lovers In Japan, and extended it to fit around the episode. If you listen carefully there are some bad edits which the Grey's Anatomy dialouge would've covered up.

i think what's throwing me off about this song, apart from the poor quality (through no fault of those who recorded it, to whom i'm grateful for their ingenious effort of removing most traces of grey's from it), is the way it has been choped and changed to suit the scene in the show. i'm sure it will sound 1000000x better on the album.

Exactly. Debs has always been a source of very reliable information. If she clearly stated that the song on Grey's Anatomy was not Lovers in Japan, then I see no reason to doubt her. Granted, she has not said what the title of the track is, but on the old Coldplay.com forum the consensus is that the track is Death and All His Friends, and Debs has not corrected anyone except a poster who said the track on Grey's Anatomy was actually Lover's in Japan, not Death and All His Friends.

Do you think perhaps some of the track that was on Grey's Anatomy is the Escapist? Isn't it supposed to directly follow Death and All His Friends on the cd?

I'm not trying to be argumentative, really. It's just that I see no reason for Debs to be posting incorrect information on the old Coldplay.com forum. She obviously felt she should correct the person who thought the track was LIJ..... And I'm sure Debs has heard the new cd. ^Well, 18 days, because thats when it comes out here, and it would be all over the internet at that point. I just wish someone would provide evidence for this Debs claim, and since no one has done so (and I can't check myself because i registered to the old forum a long time ago and forgot my username :dozey:) I'm skeptical. And Andrew here, who has heard the album already, says its not DAAHF (which is what most of us think) and that it IS in fact Lovers In Japan... and so does that Locust7 guy, who gave us an early review of Violet Hill and obviously has inside information.
If only Debs would give a straight answer for once. *sigh*.

Personally i really like the song, bearing in mind its been edited for sure, to fit the show. But I'm also thinking it has to be heard in the context of the album to be fully appreciated, so roll on June 12th! (or a leak :P)

Looking at the Q magazine previews, the description of Death and All His Friends does more closely fit the song. Grey's Anatomy just cut out the "exalting male choir", apparently.

Of course they were. I'll take Debs word over them any day. I don't know why there is still confusion if the abc website clearly states the title of the song. This isn't a conspiracy of some sort...

Ok im confused too.But it is a nice song! I was always wondering though in the song i didnt hear any of the lyrics that were under "Death and All His Friends" on the photo with all the lyrics. Maybe they just cut that part out or something.I dont know its all very confusing!!I guess we will just have to wait til the album comes out!

i'm actually happy if this song is death and all his friends. because if it is... we know based upon descriptions that we have heard that there is a big chunk missing (choir, lyrics on artwork). and since right now i just LIKE the song i think after those parts being added i may love it. hmmm this is all so weird.

I know I shouldn't keep the debate going but I can 100% say it;s not Death and all His Friends. I remember thinking during the listening party the start was so abrupt and was the only intro to a s ong that did not flow from the last song. Death started off alot less soft than this which I'm still 99% sure is Lover's... that 1% of doubt is making me second guess it was strawberry swing I've cancelled out all other possibilities. The Strawberry bass line is alot weirder. And I know for a fact I herd this bass line during the listening party. Sorry to keep the debating going but that is my 2 cents

I was just thinking that myself. It just seems like a DRAMATIC drop off from where the song starts. I guess its possible. I'm still with Locust on this. I guess we'll have to wait and see. That just says the voice Debs has in the coldplay world. she will even make me second guess myself.

Yet another reason this album has to leak soon. For my sainity.

uhhh abc paid for the rights to play the song so i'm pretty sure theyd at least know the title. i wouldn't be surprised if they heard the whole album either... how else would they know which song would fit the scenes they needed it for? and theres a possibility debs has heard the album too... right?

errrm, i would bet money that debs has heard and owns the album. it's DEBS. she has a cassette of unreleased coldplay material in a safe. i think she's probably heard VLVOD :P

i'm not sold on it being anything yet. it's in my itunes as "lovers in japan," but that's just because it's convenient. i really wouldnt be at all surprised if this was a non-album track, because it doesn't fit any of the song descriptions we've heard. it does appear in the brixton/MSG unlocked materials, but...so do other songs that aren't on the album.

this isn't to say i don't believe locust/andrew, both of whom i believe have heard the thing...but still. i like to have some hope that it's non-album material :D

My gut instinct is saying believe myself. But Debs?? Song descriptions not so much especially because we haven;t really had a very good description of Lovers from anyone yet

but besides debs being a bit...secretive and sometimes somewhat ambiguous, i don't think she's EVER been wrong. then again, it's easy to get confused. i really don't think it's DAAHF, though, because that's supposed to be the same as "life in technicolor" just with lyrics. i say it's either "lovers" or a non-album track (and as much as i believe you, andrew, i hope it's a non-album track! :D)
