definately going to this show. i looked at our school schedule for next year and although this show is on a monday night we don't have school the next day for some reason. i'm so pumped. even though i got pretty good seats for hartford i want to get even better seats for this show just because i care more about a show in my hometown. ive never seen them in boston either because when i saw them in 06 the closest one was in manchester, NH so thats where i saw them.. ahh im soo excited for this but it's still so far away!!! who else is gunna go??

TracieMorgan

THe first time I ever saw them was in Boston on '01 at River Rave. Still one of the best days of my life!!:D

what's river rave??? a festival? a venue?? never heard of it!

It was a festival in Foxboro. I'm not sure if it's even still going since I haven't seen anything about it on XFN's site this year. It was one HELL of a line-up...Live, Coldplay, Lifehouse, Greenday, Aerosmith, The Cult, Tantric, System Of A Down, American Hi-Fi, Dropkick Murphey's, SEvendust, Everlast, The Black CrowsNewfound Glory, Eve 6, STabbing Westward, and Maralyn Manson was the headliner...it sucked because they were running late, so they cut Aerosmith's set to 4 songs so Manson could do his full set. Great day though.

this is a late response but... holy crap thats a ridiculous line up. yea i've never heard of that festival so i dont know if it's still going. there are never any good festivals around here really. last year we had download fest which had modest mouse, guster and yeah yeah yeahs but thats still not GREAT. but im dying for tickets to go on sale for this show. im so nervous i won't get good seats. i neeeed to have amazing seats for this show.

looks like this date has been changed to august 2 now.

Collee
05-06-2008, 05:57 PM
I'm not even seeing a Boston date on the Offical Coldplay site anymore.

Please someone, tell me I'm mistaken!!

^Edit^

**whew**

I must have been looking in the midst of all the date changes. Can't wait now to see them August 4th!

Living in Boston for the Summer so i'm mega happy right now to see this!!!

ticketmaster say there isn't a GA floor and its all seats.. can anyone confirm this?

Mug Costanza
14-06-2008, 06:06 AM
^ I'm not too sure what to make of that. My friend just got himself and I two floor seats (he can get pre-sale tickets through some Best Buy thing?), so I can assure you there ARE floor seats if that's what you're asking...

BostonSportsTD
15-06-2008, 11:35 PM
so... who else ended up getting tickets? i kept getting really crappy seats but eventually i got club seats so i settled for those. this was much harder to get a good seat at than hartford. where is everybody sitting?

guitarplay3r
16-06-2008, 12:22 AM
yea well the website was giving me a lot of rubbish and then eventually blocked me... so i used my buddies computer and once it was "sold out" i gave it one last shot and wound up with loge seats in section 15.. so i was pretty pleased... but it was tough.

Collee
16-06-2008, 12:54 AM
Not happy with 'em , but I got tickets.
Section 301, row 9, seats 3 & 4, nosebleed seats.

Ticketmaster was not playing nice. I was online waiting and as soon as they were available I put in for tickets. First set up were crap, upper section 320, 1/4 way behind the stage. I'm thinking, WTF, that's best available at a minute into the ticket sales? I know they release tickets in waves, but geesh.

Next two time I got none available ( I was searching specifically floor and loge). Then the site got wonky, firefox kept saying the connection timed out. I guess ticketmaster servers were loading down.

Fourth time I actually got in I got some balcony seats decided to try again because they were way at the far end.

Everytime I tried for a specific level I got " no tickets available". Hell, twice when I clicked best available I was behind the stage.

So finally, when sec 301 came up I just sighed and bought them. I was getting nervous they would sell out.

Between the crappy way they handled pre-sale and the changing dates this has been the most stressful concert experience to date.

LaurenVA624
16-06-2008, 01:13 AM
I really wish coldplay would have sold tickets on THEIR OWN site..I am so fed up with ticketmaster, as i'm sure everyone else is also. I should have just kept the tickets i originally got in the pre-sale (even though they were not the ones i clicked on, so i got my money back) i wrote about it in the pre-sale discussion post. ANYWAYS, i was finally let back onto the ticketmaster website today bc they blocked my ip on the 15th after trying too many times...sooooo now when i click to search for tickets, it says "the tickets you are looking for are not available", no matter what i put in!
:cry::cry:

I don't know what to do now.

BostonSportsTD
16-06-2008, 01:15 AM
i just checked and i'm in section 137 (club) row B. they are OK but i don't care because i'll be on the floor 2 days before this in hartford. so i can't really complain!

ps. did anyone else notice there is no seperate seating chart for coldplay? on the other concerts (hartford chicago etc) coldplay have their own seating charts that show their different stage setup. but for boston it's just the generic 'endstage' seating chart. do you think boston will still have the cool stage setup?

guitarplay3r
16-06-2008, 02:12 AM
alright... if anyone wants loge tickets... i have a couple extras i'd be willing to part with just for what i paid for... let me know.

the reason i have extras is i kept wanting better seats but was too nervous to let these tickets go. the ones i have available are loge 10 and loge 2.

guitarplay3r
17-06-2008, 04:32 AM
i don't know.. i seem to think loge 15 and 20 are pretty decent... right by the stage... but i just dont' understand how the 300s are sold out but they couldn't sell those? they're not obstructed... i've sat their before.

LaurenVA624
17-06-2008, 04:55 AM
ehh 15 and 20 seem to be beside/almost behind the stage , maybe they'll release more in the next couple of days

ok I DONT GET TICKETMASTER. i just randomly decided to search for tickets (even though i already have them) and i came up with 10th row in section 13 which is SICK. but since i already have tickets i couldnt buy them. then i searched again and it said it was sold out. i dont understand. it's frustrating because i was on ticketmaster the second they went on sale on saturday and the seats i got werent even near as good as those. ugh.

19-06-2008, 02:33 PM
now they're sold out, or ticketmaster isn't working correctly.

this is so ridiculous. my choice yesterday was nosebleed BEHIND THE BAND. now nothing.

if anyone has 3 tickets to the show, i would be more than willing to buy them off of your hands. I don't want to pay the auction price ticketmaster has up ($250 for a ticket to a coldplay show? gives me that awful, "coldplay's-a-corporation-now" kind of feeling)

Please get ahold of me if you've got something. I don't care where it is, just preferably not behind the band.

Would be cool if they had the two run ways out each side of the stage like I am seeing on other venue maps. Who knows, maybe the garden just didn't want to tweek their site mapping script.

Ill Be going to this show. I cant wait. It will be my first Coldplay concert ever. I wish i was going to the Hartford show but im going to Marron 5 at the tweeter center august 2nd. Im in lodge 3 Row 10. And i did notice the seating plan was a general endstage pchart for coldplay in boston but with the heartford show it had two catwalks coming out of the stage on the left and right. See link at the bottom. And does anyone know who is opening for this show?

Seating plan for heartford: http://www.ticketmaster.com/seatingchart/237575/23427/

Seating plan fot boston: http://www.ticketmaster.com/seatingchart/8337/16495/

I guess boston dosent get the cool catwalks. everywhere else seems too. i hope we get to see the magic balls. :-D

Nose bleed seats, Section 301, row 9, seats 3 & 4 ... But that's ok, I just wanted to be there.

I've seen them live twice before, have gotten to do the floor thing and the "good seats" thing so this time I'm just happy they have settled on a date and it's near enough to me here in NH to go.

So y'know how they've (Coldplay) said that there going to have minor tweaks in their setlist as the tour goes on, some varying by city? I think Boston would be a great place to play "Cemeteries of London". As far as I can remember, they haven't played it yet on tour.

Think about it; there are plenty of revolutionaries and such buried in Boston, Samuel Adams and John Hancock just to name two.

However, Chris should have to sing the line as "...and all the cemeteries of Boston" instead of London. :P

That'd be pretty sweet in my opinion.

Hello all

I'm in boston (malden actually) and I soooo want to buy tickets at a reasonable price but I can't find it at craigslist (no one answer me)

Do you guys know if I go there around 5pm 6pm I could find tickets from someone? (still at a reasonable price)

Thanks

I'm so desperate!!!!

GO ON CRAIGSLIST. select boston, find tickets at the bottom under "for sale". Then type in coldplay at the top of the page and it brings up all the listings for people selling coldplay tickets in the boston area. hope this helps!

Oh and I agree with you BanknorthSportsTD about the Boston fans. I bet we'll be intense for Coldplay. Manchester, NH fans were so much that Chris actually bowed down to us! very funny.

ADVICE FROM SOMEONE WHO WAS IN HARTFORD LAST NIGHT:

1. Go to the bathroom before the concert
2. Bring at least 1 water bottle
3. Eat light beforehand
4. Don't kill your voice on the first song, youll need it for DAAHF;)
5. Don't expect an encore, just enjoy every single song
6. Get a t-shirt
7. Take some pics if you must, but dont worry so much about it, just take in every single minute
8. Don't mind people around you, if they are sitting or being jerks, that's their problem
9. If you're in a lower section to the right of the band, get ready cause they might come running at you
10. Have fun!

Won't elaborate too much but it was a fantastic show. Crowd could have been into it a little more at times but overall great night! I was at 2 shows during the X&Y Tour and those were equally as great but what was fun to see was that this was 100% different and still just as much fun! Plus, Jerry Seinfeld, Steven Spielberg, Giselle and Tom Brady (not to mention Gwenyth) were all in attendance tonight...

it started off so well, loved it thru Fix You, which might be the best one in the lot, Yellow too was in it's place as well. think the X&Y tour was better, good crowd interaction and singing. about my 2 cents.

ok so.... here it goes.

we got to our seats right around the end of santogold's act (great timing!) and then we were just sitting around waiting as you do at any concert. so then the girls next to us start taking pictures of a lady behind us so i asked who it was and they said kate bosworth. so i'm like... that's cool because she's famous but i don't really know her. so then these people come out from behind the stage and again the girls next to me are pointing and one of them yells GWYNETH! and then the whole crowd in our section and everyone in that corner of the floor stood up and gave her an ovation and she just kept coming closer and closer to me until shes sitting directly behind me just two rows back. i was shaking that i was in awe so much and right when i thought about shaking her hand and talking to her... the lights went down and my focus was completely diverted to coldplay. life in technicolor had so much energy tonight and i could tell right off the bat the show was going to be incredible. the crowd went nuts during violet hill and at the end chris said 'now this is gunna be a REALLY GOOD ONE!' i got the biggest chills when he said that because i know he only says that if he means it. clocks seemed a lot better tonight because he did more with the vocals... went higher at some parts... it was great. the sold out crowd was IMMENSE during the chorus of in my place. viva la vida was better and i don't even know why. but i just enjoyed it a lot more. yes was the same. a little bit of low energy but the jam sesh at the end is just SO INCREDIBLE. i could watch that over and over there is just so much energy in it. 42 was great. i looked at gwyneth during it and she was singing all the words! fix you was like... hartford times 20 (2732 aka nick... you would have died). the crowd LOVED it and chris did his hopping on stage and sang the end of it SO BEAUTIFULLY!! chinese sleep chant was dull again. i know some people out there like this song but i just don't get it! really i dont get how they play this live and not cemeteries!! but GPASUYF was cool again and he added in some lyric about 'playing down in massachusetts' (anyone remember it exactly??). the one area of the show that was worse than hartford was that they replaced square one/hardest part with speed of sound. it was nice to have at least one change but i was really looking forward to hearing square one again!! Lost! was great... crowd knew it really well. chris put a great ending on it. i think it was before this song that he talked about all the monday night TV we were missing and he mentioned home improvement and SEINFELD and everyone in my section looked back at him and laughed and i swear we made eye contact!! scientist was beautiful... bigger crowd = more amazing NOBODY SAID IT WAS EASYYYYY. before death will never convquer chris wouldn't stop talking about how amazing will was and then he said 'ok now i'll shut the fuck up' it was hilarious. back on stage politik was INCREDIBLEEEEEE. like FUCKING INSANE!!!!! i like came close to getting emotional during OPEN UP YOUR EYYYYYES. the piano solo as usual was stunning. lovers in japan was just as good but a tad less for me than hartford because i was on the floor at hartford so i got the confetti. but at one point he came down the ramp in front of us and pointed to gwyneth!! after LiJ gwyneth and her crew left. then chris dedicated death and all his friends to tom brady!!! haha at the beginning he messed up the lyrics and said ah fuck. crowd went nuts and he started again. it was BEAUTIFUL. he added so much to the vocals and the instrumental build up was crazy yet again. i couldn't even breath during the NO I DONT WANNA BATTLE... becaue i was jumping up and down so much. chris said a long goodbye and then they left. the lights stayed down for awhile and i was really hopeful for another encore but it never came! i'm really not that disappointed and i thought i would be but that shows how amazing the show was!

other thing i can remember:
chris said the boston fans were better than all the other shows combined!! :D
after the scientist he talked about how his harmonica playing was pointless and didn't sound good.
chris said before the scientist that he wrote the song after spending a steamy night with condeliza rice!! it was hilarious!
when the crowd was singing during either in my place or fix you chris said "you can HEAR all the Irish blood out there!!"

ahhh that's it for now! i'm sad its all over but i'm still in such a buzz from the show. amazing amazing amazing and that's all i can say!

where were u sitting?
on the left side of the stage, 6 rows back from the ramp on the left side. not floor but like 6 rows back in loge. really great seats. every time they came out on that ramp i could see like every detail in their faces. i could tell a few times that chris was scanning our section for gwyneth. another thing that was weird was everytime i looked down at the people on the floor i could see at least 10 people looking up in our direction just staring at gwyneth. i felt kind of bad for her. it must be hard to really enjoy the show when about 30 people are staring at you at ALL times!

For all the Facebookers out there, here (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2015097&id=1232910307&ref=mf) is the best of the best of my photos.

I also got videos of Clocks (partially), Viva La Vida, 42, Strawberry Swing (absolutely HAD to get these two), Fix You from the guitar solo to the end, the techno God Put A Smile Upon Your Face, Death Will Never Conquer (including the banter beforehand where he said fuck several times and then added "Don't put this on the Internet!"), Lovers In Japan (which I'll admit kind of sucks because I had floor seats and was very distracted by the confetti), and Death And All His Friends (including the "Aw, fuck!" bit).

I'm a little embarassed because I didn't realize how much of my own singing it would pick up, so there are some instances where you can barely hear Chris because myself, my friend, and all the people around us just overpower him, but regardless, I'll try to get those on YouTube soon.

Not only was gwyenth and her mom there, jerry seinfeld was right next to them along with kate bosworth, Tom Brady and his girlfriend Jazelle. I was front row in section 13 and they were about 10th row in section 13, right before coldplay took the stage, everyone got on their feet when they all walked up together. Also stings wife was there along with spielbergs wife. The crowd was incredible also, best time ive seen them and it was my 6th.

on the left side of the stage, 6 rows back from the ramp on the left side. not floor but like 6 rows back in loge. really great seats. every time they came out on that ramp i could see like every detail in their faces. i could tell a few times that chris was scanning our section for gwyneth. another thing that was weird was everytime i looked down at the people on the floor i could see at least 10 people looking up in our direction just staring at gwyneth. i felt kind of bad for her. it must be hard to really enjoy the show when about 30 people are staring at you at ALL times!

Awesome! I'm so happy for you!:D:D:D:D Great review in your other post too! Were you on the left when looking from the crowd (Jonny's side)? Or left when onstage (Guy's side)?

Did JB go down Guy's ramp on his own during either the Hartford or Boston shows (especially during In My Place)? Or just down his own ramp with Chris like usual? Thanks!

So far I've only uploaded "Clocks", "VLV", and "42", and already they've all had views. Nothing too huge, though. It is 3 AM EST, after all. Right now Clocks has 9 views.

If you want to watch the videos, my YouTube name is the same as my CPing name, but without the space between Mug and Costanza.

Also, BostonSportsTD said that he just doesn't get Chinese Sleep Chant. Honestly, at first listen, I thought it was kind of a dumb song. I straight up just didn't like it. But right from when I woke up this morning, the song that was stuck in my head ALL DAY was Chinese Sleep Chant. I was really happy when they played it. I'm more than willing to give it another chance. :)

Coldplay closed out the North American leg of its tour with an exclamation point last night.

Befitting their status as radio kings, thanks to the success of their fourth album "Viva La Vida," the quartet gave a big performance on a big stage with a big audience singing along to the big choruses. (Speed-dial friends U2 would've beamed with older brotherly pride).

Whether it was the presence of front man Chris Martin's famous wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, and mother-in-law, Blythe Danner, with special guests Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld at the TD Banknorth Garden or the hero's welcome the band received, the British hit makers signed off with a giddy, high-energy performance that seemed as much for their own enjoyment as for the hyped-up, sold-out crowd.

While the obsessively self-deprecating Martin joked about being a "soft rock" band, drummer Will Champion - the band's true MVP - gave the entire affair a welcome brawn from the very first downbeat of opener "Life in Technicolor."

Songs such as "Speed of Sound" and "In My Place" that sometimes come across as more placid and pleasant on record leapt off the stage thanks to the mighty efforts of Champion and his similarly uncorked band mates.

Martin flailed about with his lunatic wobbliness during such stompers as "Viva La Vida" - taut and soaring with timpani and bells - and rocked like a madman behind the piano teasing out the curlicue riffs of "Clocks." In all his gadding about he managed to keep ahold of that valuable falsetto for the night's biggest ballad sing-alongs including "Fix You" and the inanely simple but irresistible "Yellow." He took it lower for the slithering, Eastern-tinged rhythms of the hypnotic "Yes."

The band took to a smaller lighted stage halfway into the audience for an oddly insular, techno-fied interlude that felt like they were playing in their own tiny nightclub. Large orbs, some which obstructed views, descended, beaming out images to those farther away. More successful was a later two-song acoustic bit way up in the right-hand corner of the arena that included the Beatlesque sing-song gem "The Scientist" and Champion handling vocals on a sweet version of "Death Will Never Conquer."

Those aspiring to be the biggest band in all the land would be wise to heed the example of their oft-name-checked predecessors in one way: Play longer shows. Given that they have four albums of material to choose from, a 90-minute set, as energetic as it was, felt like not enough bang for the sizable soft rock buck.

Santogold put her heart into the groovy, electro-quirk rock of her critically lauded debut but wasn't quite the right fit for the large crowd that showed up early enough to hear the buzzy charms of tunes such as "L.E.S. Artistes" and "Creator." And if you're going to have a hipster-cred building opening act, provide her with a better sound system.

Victors in an online contest, judged ultimately by Coldplay, Boston rockers the Luxury took the stage with confidence for a short set that should draw a few more fans to their gigs around town.

It seems that Coldplay is still searching for their niche among the world’s major rock acts.

That might explain why the British quartet experimented with so many different styles and formats at the sold-out TD Banknorth Garden last night - some successfully, others not so much.

The night of massive sing-alongs and fist-pumping anthems began with the dark, brooding “Violet Hill” and the pounding chords of “Clocks,” during which lead singer Chris Martin almost fell off his piano stool with enthusiasm.

That set the tone for a night of Martin swaying, rocking, doing awkward versions of the running man, dripping with sweat, occasionally convulsing, dropping a few F-bombs, flubbing lyrics, and often convening with lead guitarist Jonny Buckland and bassist Guy Berryman for impromptu emo huddles.

During “Fix You,” Martin stumbled around as if from a love hangover, and towards the end of the transcendent “In My Place,” he ventured out to a side stage to fall to his knees and writhe.

Even after four albums and massive success, the husband of actress Gwyneth Paltrow (who was present along with her mother, Blythe Danner, and Jerry Seinfeld and Steven Spielberg) clearly isn’t too big for his retro-military britches, and it is this lack of pretentiousness and raw emotion that drives the Coldplay engine.

Occasionally, things got a bit dull, however. After the anthemic “Viva La Vida,” a mid-set lag took hold with “Yes,” which featured Martin in his lower register and fans the closest they’d be to motionless all night.

Fans wanted the band to stay loud, bright and center-stage, but they took to a small side stage for what you might call the U2 interlude, an electronic-inspired “Chinese Sleep Chant” and “God Put A Smile Upon Your Face.” Later, the band took to another side stage - this time in the rafters - for an underwhelming acoustic version of “The Scientist,” which didn’t capture the song’s considerable emotional power.

But the band was frequently brilliant throughout the night, and never moreso than on the piano-driven masterpiece “Politik” during the encore - which was followed shortly thereafter by a quirky shower of confetti butterflies.

About the only thing Coldplay has in common with opener Santogold is the nebulous designation of “alternative.” Born Santi White, the New York native blends too many styles - rock, punk, hip-hop and reggae among them - to be placed into a singular category, and with vocals that soared up to the rafters.

Once you are very front row or near it you are never happy again with any other seats! I was lucky to be front row at a GA show way back in Sept of 05. And then I was so close at the Today show. All I want are front rows seats now. I was thinking of getting nosebleeds for the Izod Center show in hopes that the same guy who was upgrading seats would see me and take pity :laugh3:Lori we gotta get seats Like BostonSportsTD had for this show!!!

Okay so last night WAS AMAZING!!!!!! I cant belive all the celeberties that showed up! I cant wait to see Coldplay again! My sign didnt end up glowing in the bark because it was too dim bebore the show. I held it up during Fix You but didnt hold it up too long because i didnt want to block the peoples view who where behind me. :) They where very nice about it and good neighbors :) Someone next to me reconized my sign from here (i wish i got her name). As far as merch goes i got the VIVA LA VIDA artwork tee and the tour program both well worth it! (im ordering the mug) The show opened with two acts The Luxery and Santogold (in that order) They where both good, but i wasnt sure what to think of Santogold at first. THEN COLDPLAY they where truely amazing. I was a little far away but i had a blast non the less. The people aroud me where GREAT. My favroite part was when they went into the loge section. I loved the Scientist! And it was funny how Chris listed all the things that Will could do "....He can seduce..." :laugh3: And it came to an end with Death And All His Friends! It was just AMAZING! He even dedicated it to Tom Brady. The crowed cheered untill the lights came on, Coldplay at the TD Banknorth Garden was a truely amazing night!

-Jesse-

PS - lets all hope that stadium tour rumor was true because COLDPLAY at Gillette Stadium would be AMAZING!

good show, definitely, but a couple of things bothered me - that boston crowd was tearing it's throat out for coldplay, absolutely going bizonkers, and they still didn't give it anything extra. I'm of the opinion that when a band's got 30.000 people giving them a standing ovation and shaking a concrete building with their yelling, they really should come back out and do one more.

also, i just moved to boston, and i found it incredibly disconcerting the extreme vitrol and anger people had towards Santogold. People around me were shouting at her to "shut the f&^* up" and talking about how she sucked on every song. I understand people having different tastes and such, but Santagold's just pop hooks over interesting beats, and I cannot see a reason to scream obscenities at her for putting on a decent opening in an arena.

it worries me sometimes that my fellow coldplay fans are closeminded, one-sided, very judgmental people. I really hope that's not the case.

The show was good, though. To be honest, I think I might like the Twisted Logic tour better - it seemed paced better, and on this tour I just got the distinct impression that the band was trying to hustle through the set list. That said, Lost! was outstanding, the clocks lightshow from where I was sitting was incredible (for the rest of the night, my apartment mate kept saying "lasers.... lasers..." over and over again while he fell asleep on the T.

Good show, just weird that a top selling band with 50 or so official tracks and god knows how many b-sides can't play for longer than ninety minutes. I remember on the offical msgboard someone was ranting about how they only played 90 minute shows, etc, and debs said it was because they only had two or three albums. No longer a good excuse, I think.

It worries me as well. The fans in my section did the same thing to Santogold at the Washington DC show.

I have to admit coldplay are a good band but for almost 100$ per ticket and there catalog they could have played at least 2 hours and not 1:30 mins.

My only gripe was square one wasn't played really wanted to hear that and a very annoying guy behind me that wouldn't shut up and sung over in my place and a few others so loud it wrecked the song for me I mean come on its fine to sing along but i am paying to hear coldplay not the fans.

this will prolly be my first and last coldplay show.

Here's my Boston review!

A REVIEW FROM THE BACK!

First off, I'm going to vow that I'll never see another show in the balcony. My seats were straight back, third row up in 309. I stood the whole time, but most people around the balcony stood only for the big songs: I'll get to that.

I volunteered for Oxfam! Got a shirt and recruited about 4 sheets of people! I highly suggest doing it, it's very fun! I didn't do it for tickets, instead I sent them an e-mail explaining how I have a ticket and would love to help! Being part of Oxfam also gives you a noticeable boost of authority; the ushers who check tickets (once inside the venue) never asked me for mine yet stopped people behind me! This came in handy when I walked right in after people had cleared out to get myself some confetti off the floor area!

Five minutes before the lights went out, a mass cheer erupted when Gwyneth entered the arena. At the time I didn't know who it was, and neither did anyone around me, we were simply too far away to see! From reading some reviews and talking to some people, it was quite the star-filled night!

A compiled list so far:
Gwyneth Paltrow
Blythe Danner
Kate Bosworth
Tom Brady
Gisele Bündchen
Jerry Seinfeld
Jessica Sklar
Steven Spielberg

The concert was fantastic, though no surprises from the slightly varying set list. Square One would have been nice, or Cemeteries of London, which I guess they just don't want to play at the moment! But I digress from the unique purpose of my review.

It may had been the fact that I was a VIP for the Today Show (Thanks again Ian!) having them between 4 and 20 ft away from me at all times, but balcony seats, and those who inhabited them, were less into the concert overall. However, EVERYONE, even the handicapped, stood strong for Viva la Vida. From what I could see, all of the Floor and Loge sections were standing all night, but only about half on the balcony inhabitants stood and sang! The view was nice, but you couldn't see the band well and there was an audio/visual lag which made it somewhat difficult to watch; Will would hit a drum and you would hear it half a second later. The lights were spot on, it was just the lag from band members to speakers. The balcony view was more of an overview, which was nice because you could see everything that was going on, but almost in a distant, removed way, when compared to Floor or Loge seats. Also the balcony sides might be nicer because you're closer to the stage and the side Loge next to the stage (where BostonSportsTD was) is CERTAINLY where it's at!

Some notable moments:
In My Place was amazing, I kept wanting them to play it again.

Right before Viva la Vida, Chris said "lets turn this one up a bit"
The boys walked up to the Loge area for their acoustic bit and Chris introduced himself to a man on the balcony behind him, who shook his hand and cheer him with joyous disbelief.
Chris talking about their drummer Will for a long while before cutting himself off by saying "Will's gonna sign this one and I'm gonna shut the fuck up"
The Talk remix video which showed a bunch of politicians dancing which went directly into Politik was breathtaking. Singing "OPEN UP YOUR EYES" never felt so powerful! The ending piano riff was the best Politik ending I have ever heard.
*Benefit to being in the balcony!* The lazers from Clocks, Chinese Sleep Chant and the God Put A Smile Upon My Face Remix, seemed to be right above our heads!
Chris was so genuinely taken aback during Fix You; the crowd sang so strong and as one.
Chris messed up the lyrics at the beginning of Death And All His Friends, explaining "Gah, Fuck." After a huge applause and he stopped giggling and adjusting his mic, he picked up with "All summer..."
Death And All His Friends was by far the most amazing song of the night, (people really freaked out when the big VIVA banner fell down to be displayed behind the band) followed by The Escapist, played as they waved their goodbyes and left the stage.

For seeing Coldplay once at Manchester, NH (Twisted Logic Tour) from a medium distance, at the Today Show at a very close distance, and this time in Boston sitting just about as far away as I can, I can safely say this: Coldplay knows how to entertain a crowd, wherever they sit!

This gig was awesome. I've seen them just twice before, in 2005 and 2006, and this time the boys seems to be enjoying themselves immensely! The crowd singing and cheering was deafening. I don't know how the boys could hear themselves or each other. I know Master Craig said the balcony crowd wasn't as into it but they sure were in my section. Everyone stood from the first song on and every one was singing along and cheering LOUD.

We got there early and I was really hoping that we'd see Roadie 42 or some other staffer because I'd read about the ticket upgrades. So I was watching and damn if I didn't see someone with tags on come up TWICE to our section (Balcony 301) and upgrade two groups of fans. One was a group of 4 twenty somthing girls, I watched the floor and saw them come out and get an escort right down to the floor, SECOND ROW FROM THE FRONT, right nect to Jonny's catwalk. The second time a different staffer came up and picked a pair of fans from behind us and got them floor seats too, center stage, row 2. Imagine being that lucky eh?? I thought it was the coolest thing, the band upgrading early arriving fans up in the cheap seats.

Like I said, my seats were way up in the nose bleeds. We were probablly 10 rows shy of the roof. but we were about 1/3 way back from the stage on Guy's side so the line of sight was great. The lighting and video was technically brilliant. The biggest video globe in the center of the arena was about eye level for me so we got the full benifit of that.

If you've read any of this thread or the articles Ian reprinted you'll know there were a lot of celbs there, including Gwyn and her mom. That had the crowd cheering like crazy when they seated them in the loge , near the right side catwalk, just minutes before the boys came on. Jerry Seinfeld and his wife were there and when Chris talked to the crowd after the first song he said to us"What else would you be doing on Boston on a Monday night, watching Seinfeld reruns?" That got a big laugh.

The banter between songs was a combination of your typical Chris randomness, some fun comments about all the irish in Boston, and the use of the "Oh F*ck!" a lot. At one point after he'd said f*ck about 3 times in a row he pleaded, "Please, please don't put that on the internet!"

I was expecting a more stripped down version of Yellow but the whole band came at it full force and I was surprised how much fun it was to hear that old nugget yet again. I also had no idea the butterfly confetti would be all glowing under black light. It was cool to watch everyone frolic in down on the floor.

Was hoping for a second encore but wasn't surprised when they didn't come back out. The whole band looked physically wiped. They have been pushing hard since Toronto and I imagine they were really glad to have their last US gig prior to leaveing Japan neatly wrapped up.

I was there... and I'm so sad and depressed that it's over. Does anyone else feel this way? It was my first Coldplay concert even though I've been a fan for years. I felt like it was a dream. Just amazing... truly amazing. I wish I could see them again soon.

yep - you're not alone... and its been almost a week here since they played :(

I feel so silly for being so upset over this... I mean, I'm going to be 26 and I'm acting like such a baby. I keep replaying the concert over and over in my head. I just read on the Oxfam blog that there are volunteers who have been touring with the band, and I became so jealous. I thought you could volunteer for one or two concerts if you lived nearby... I had no idea you could tour with the band.
I think I need some sort of intervention... I need to stop feeling so sad and depressed!

Does the band ever let anyone backstage? I read on their blog that they basically fly out of the building as soon as the lights dim... and they're gone.
I'm going to try for tix in NJ. I bet their London shows are going to be the best ones... but that's one heck of an expensive trip!

check out the Chicago threads July 22 and 23

Chris saw our sign the first night that said REIGN OF JONNY stopped what he was saying during the show to SAY something about it...so all the guys saw it. Then the next day we waited at the venue holding the sign and when their SUV pulled in they saw it and decided to stop. Jonny and Guy came up to chat with us and take pics and sign things for about 10 minutes....greatest day EVER!:smug:

First post here, came through here looking for pictures of the show and such and have been browsing through the thread. What an incredible show as everyone well knows.

I was looking through some of the pictures and saw BostonSportsTD's and recognized they were Emma's. I'm Mike (AJ's friend from last night) so thought I'd say hello.

Yesterday came about prettyspontaneously and I guess some kind of karma was paying me back because my friend gave me a free ticket to last night's show (I had to offer at least some money a few times). Believe me I was shocked and a half. Coldplay's always been a band I've loved but I didn't want to spend $100 on a ticket, so when my friend offered me the ticket I was stoked beyond belief. I got off work and we headed into Boston.

The whole show was fantastic overall but some of the standouts to me included the video spheres and general lighting effects. Nothing quite like a stunning audio + visual combination. My favorites were probably Politik, Yellow, In My Place, Life in Technicolor, Yes, hell the whole show, just an awesome selection of songs. I would have liked to see Square One but oh well. Politik was the song that got me into this band, I remember watching them play an absurdly passionate performance of it in the 2003 Grammy's, so I was definitely glad to see it played in front of me.

Around the end of Lost!, I say to my friend "hey look what is that guy standing on?" It looked to be like a mini-stage of sorts. Then I saw a guitar, and a few more and I knew it. We immediately started walking down and could hear the crowd gettign louder as the band ran up. The next few minutes were unreal. They played the Scientist and the whole time I just couldn't believe how close they were.

I found this picture on a Flickr page.

My friend and I are off to the left, I'm in the white shirt.

After they left I couldn't even in remember the song that they had just played, was just amazed that a band of such status was right in front of me like that. Definitely something I will remember for a very long time.

So there you go, I am one lucky and thankful fan, and needless to say, would easily pay $100 of my own if they came back to town.

Coldplay rockers dedicated to Tom Brady

New England Patriots QB/QT Tom Brady took a pass on practice yesterday probably to rest up from the rockin’ Coldplay show he took in with glamazon galpal Gisele Bundchen at the TD Banknorth Garden!

Tom, who is reportedly a HUGE fan of Chris Martin & Co., blew out of a late practice at Gillette Stadium Monday night to join Gi and her GFs at the Garden shortly after the British rockers took the stage at 10 p.m.

In fact, Martin dedicated the last song, “Death and All His Friends,” a cut off the new CD, to Brady. Perhaps Chris’ good buddy, Bono of U2, told him a shout-out to No. 12 always brings down the Boston house!
http://imagec08.247realmedia.com/RealMedia/ads/Creatives/default/empty.gif (http://oasc08024.247realmedia.com/RealMedia/ads/click_lx.ads/bostonherald.com/1422349803/Position2/default/empty.gif/577375767430695a50544141426c5037?x) http://oasc08024.247realmedia.com/RealMedia/ads/adstream_nx.ads/bostonherald.com/@Position2?x
“I don’t want to do this really because it’s cheesy . . . but we’re great fans of his and he’s probably left the building anyway,” said the Coldplay frontman. “We’d like to dedicate this to Tom Brady - your quarterback. We’re big fans of his and very honored he came to the show, and I hope to goodness it was worth it.”

And then Martin flubbed the lyrics to the tune. But no biggie. Brady wasn’t on the floor at the end of the show anyway!

According to a music blog called meanspeed.com, the Pats QB has an iTunes playlist that starts off with Coldplay’s mega-hit “Speed of Sound,” and he’s been a “fan of the band for years now.”

Brady told the meanspeed blogger that he can be caught “patiently waiting for every album. Each has been better than the last.”

Also making the scene at Coldplay’s Garden party were Mrs. Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow, and her actress mom, Blythe Danner. They settled into seats in the third row of the Loge 13 with director Steven Spielberg and wife, Kate Capshaw; funnyman Jerry Seinfeld and wife, Jessica; and “21” star, Cohasset homegal Kate Bosworth, who played pingpong backstage before the show.

BTW, we don’t have any snaps of the celebs since LiveNation forbade the photogs covering the concert from shooting the stars. Apparently, they aren’t used to having cameras in their faces all the time.

Anyway, our spies in the primo seats said Gwynnie was “gazing lovingly at her hubby” and “singing along with him” while Gisele never stood up during the show. Ditto for Jerry.
“He didn’t move all night,” said Casey, a fan from Lynnfield who sat behind the comedian. “Might have been a statue, actually.”

Perhaps Jer was peeved when Martin poked fun at the crowd, congratulating them for coming out on a Monday night when they could be home watching “Home Improvement” or “Seinfeld” re-runs!

Not that there’s anything wrong with that . . .

Also mixing it up backstage was Toro chef/owner Ken Oringer and wife, Celine, who talked Spanish food with Gwyneth. No, she wasn’t hungry for some of Kenny’s authentic tapas. She and Chef talked about her soon-to-debut cooking road show with Mario Batali called “Spain . . .On the Road Again.” It’s supposed to debut this fall on PBS.

After the show, Coldplay was quickly escorted out of the arena, so there wasn’t a mob scene. Chris and the boys open the Asian/European leg of their tour in Osaka on Saturday.

Coldplay
TD Banknorth Garden, Boston
Monday August 4th, 2008

Yep, that title says it all. They were that good, and somehow made spending $120 to not sit all that close to the stage seem completely justified. From the laser show and confetti to the surprise mini-set they played at the top of section 10 and their terrific rendition of of “Death and All of His Friends” to end the show, there wasn’t a second of their 90 minute set that I wasn’t completely impressed by, to put it mildly.

Opening the show were two acts, a local band The Luxury, and hip-hop group Santogold. We missed most of the Luxury’s set, but did have the misfortune of sitting through Santogold’s half hour on stage, which wasn’t all that enjoyable. It was obvious that this nigh would belong entirely to Coldplay, undeniably one of the world’s biggest and most popular rock bands.

After a transparent black screen was lowered in front of the stage, the band walked out to a huge roar from the sold out Garden crowd and tore into an arena-worthy version of instrumental Viva La Vida album opener “Life in Technicolor.” From there, the screen lifted and it was on to “Violet Hill,” the song which, when I first heard it, made me step back and say “wow, this new Coldplay record is going to be amazing.” Throughout the entire show, Chris Martin jumped and shook his way around the stage, working up quite a sweat and making good use of the ramps which extended out from each side of the stage. After “Violet Hill,” a piano was wheeled out and the band played crowd-favorite “Clocks.”

The next two songs turned out to be, in my opinion, one of the huge highlights of the show, as the band played an enormous sing-along version of “In My Place,” which included Martin at one point walking to the edge of one of the ramps and simply admiring the thousands of people singing and swaying along in front of him. Then came “Viva La Vida,” which I think is pretty much one of the best songs ever. One of the great things about this show as the fact that every song seemed to leap off the stage and out of the huge speakers in a way they don’t on CD, and I was amazed at how arena-ready the band’s otherwise more mellow songs sounded in this setting.

Coldplay would then go on to play equally great renditions of “Yes,” “42,” “Fix You,” and “Strawberry Swing” before moving to a small stage set up at the end of the ramp at the right side of the stage. Here they would play acoustic-ish versions of “Chinese Sleep Chant” and “God Put A Smile On Your Face.” I would have rather seen a full electric version of the latter, but it was interesting to hear a different take on the song and it didn’t sound bad by any means.

The band would then return to the stage to play “Speed of Sound,” “Yellow,” and “Lost!” During this part of the set, a rather amazing visual display took place on a giant screen behind the band, at times showing images that related to the songs, and at other times showing live shots of the band. One camera angle I especially liked was the one mounted on the side of the keys on Martin’s piano. Also, live shots were somehow displayed on giant white balls hanging from the ceiling, another nice touch.

After “Lost!,” the band suddenly decided to run down one of the ramps and though the crowd assembled on the floor. They then ran up the aisle of the section where we were sitting, passing about ten feet away from us to the next section over, located toward the back of the first level of the arena. While this expectantly drove the crowd around us wild, the band went on to play an amazing version of “The Scientist” on a small platform about 30 feet from us. This was possibly one of the coolest things I’ve seen at a show (and it’s also pretty high up there on the list of coolest things I’ve seen, period). After Martin explained how useless attempting to play the harmonica was, the band played “Death Will Never Conquer,” with drummer Will Champion handling vocals and Martin on the useless harmonica.

While there wasn’t a great deal of between song banter from Martin, I was surprised by the fact that the things he did say were always amusing, and while many would consider them to be “rock gods” the band never seemed to take themselves too seriously, for Martin was often too busy making fun of himself or thanking so many people for coming out on a Monday night and missing Seinfeld reruns (Jerry Seinfeld, along with Tom Brady and Gwyneth Paltrow were apparently in attendance).

After their section 10 set, the band disappeared from view and readied for the encore while some type of political video played. I’m not really sure what it was about because I was still trying to catch my breath after all that excitement. The band then returned to stage and began the encore with “Politik” and then “Lovers In Japan.” This is where a huge amount of glowing confetti was dropped from the ceiling, always a welcome addition to any show. After this, the screen in at the back of the stage dropped to reveal a huge “Viva” backdrop, and the band broke into “Death and All of His Friends,” undeniably the perfect song to close both a record and a live show. Following the song, the band took their bows to a thunderous applause and left the stage, ending the North American leg of their “Viva La Vida” tour.

While Coldplay’s amazing performace made the night great, it was the crowd that made it so memorable. While I wasn’t around when the Celtics won the NBA championship in June, I’m guessing that the same level of euphoria was felt by the thousands of people streaming out of the Garden that night. A bunch of my friends were at the show, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen them so excited and so happy. The energy in the building before, during, and after the show was unbelievable, easily making this one of the most memorable concerts I’ve ever seen.

The dream is a familiar one for anyone who has ever picked up a guitar, switched on a keyboard, or plugged in a microphone: the chance to open for one of the biggest bands on the planet, in front of ten thousand screaming fans, at a sold-out arena. Boston-based OurStage band The Luxury got that chance when they they were chosen by fans on a local radio station to open for mega-stars Coldplay at a sold-out TD Banknorth Garden. The Luxury, with their thick layers of driving piano, swirling guitars, and anthem hooks, sound like they’ve been ready for a show like this for quite a while. Frontman Jason Dunn talked with OurStage about The Luxury’s gig of a lifetime.

http://blog.ourstage.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/laminates.jpg

OurStage: How did it feel to find out you guys were going to be opening for Coldplay?

Jason Dunn: When I actually got the call that we’d won, I was at work hauling around AV equipment in hotels I can’t even afford to stay in, so the whole situation was pure comedy - I had to get permission to go hide in a storage closet so I could call them back and accept a gig at Boston Garden. Crazy. Made it hard to concentrate on setting up projectors, for sure.

OS: What was the experience like for an up and coming band to play such a huge show?

JD: The show was great. The sound crew were absolute professionals and everyone had their own tailored monitor mix with exactly what they needed, and from audience reports we sounded unbelievable, and obviously that’s what matters. The crowd was about half-full for the local opener, so, you know, only about 10,000 people or so? The response we got was fantastic. It was huge. But it was really comfortable, I mean, these are my boys and this is what we do, it was just projecting to a big arena instead of a mid-sized club. We didn’t feel out of place. In fact, I think we should just play arenas from now on.

http://blog.ourstage.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/perf.jpg

OS: Any interesting moments from the night?

JD: A couple - Coldplay left us four bottles of champagne with a hand-written note, and that was really classy and nice of them. Good champagne, too. We ran into Coldplay in the hall behind the stage and chatted for a bit - I’d actually met them a few years previous at a bar in Allston, I was a bit drunk and was going on about wishing them all the luck in the world with their music. I think “Clocks” came out two weeks later. I told Chris Martin about this at the Garden and he said, “Oh! It seems you wished us very well, then.”

http://blog.ourstage.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/coldnote.jpg

http://blog.ourstage.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/champagne.jpg

Another great moment was when Steve (our drummer) gave Chris a copy of his “Christmas Chickens” record for his kids - it’s an album he made of Christmas songs rewritten about chickens. Chris was reading the song titles and was like, “I might have to run back to the dressing room and learn a cover real quick…”

http://blog.ourstage.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/w-chris.jpg

OS: What’s next for The Luxury?

JD: Well, right now I’m focusing on pushing this AFAM (Advocates For Autism of Massachusetts) we’re playing on Saturday, August 9th. We just had a massive amount of good will and good karma come our way, and I want to bring as many people into this show as possible and give some of that back as fast as I can. Then in September, we’re going to California for a week to tour around the LA and San Francisco areas. I’ve never been there before so I’m thrilled. After that I think it’ll be time to focus on finishing the next album - we’re a good 8 or 9 songs deep into it right now, with another 7 or 8 in pieces or awaiting lyrics. We did the first record ourselves and it did very well for us, and I’d like to have a label involved on the second one if they’re a decent label and know what they’re doing, and they plan to really work with us.

Found this page looking for Coldplay concert reviews. I can't believe I hadn't seen this site before! Anyway, I was on the floor, section J row 6. The show was unbelievable!! Can't wait for the next one!! The opening acts were pretty good too. I for one thoroughly enjoyed The Luxury and am even looking to get their CD. Santogold was good too but didn't really flow with the rest of the show.

I uploaded a video to Youtube that same night after I got home and one the next day. I took some others, but they are really short (less than 15 seconds).

The pictures you've all been sharing from the Boston show are great! I'm just depressed that the show has come and gone.

I almost wish that the November date was still happening, so I would have something to look forward to!

This may seem to be a very obscure question but I figured I'd ask anyways.

Did anyone recognize the tracks being played on the speakers just before Coldplay took the stage? (AKA between Santogold and Coldplay). I recognized it and it was a very nice tune but couldn't think it up, its still killing me

Hey Everyone!

Coldplay recently performed at the TD Banknorth Garden, but did the show live up to standards? And what celebs were found enjoying the show? Read all about the concert here in Boston Music Spotlight's review:

Coldplay wrapped up their North American tour with a high energy, star studded event at the Garden on Monday night, proving that the London based quartet are indeed contenders for the title of the ‘best band of the new millennium’.

Touring in support of their recently released fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, Coldplay hit the stage with instrumental “Life in Technicolor” and quickly transitioned to “Violet Hill’. With the crowd clearly under their spell, front-man Chris Martin took to the piano for “Clocks”.

“In My Place” from their 2002 album A Rush of Blood to the Head, complete with guitarist Johnny Buckland’s trademark chords, worked the audience into frenzy, nearly drowning out Martin’s vocals on the final chorus. With everyone warmed up and the sell out crowd on their feet, the band performed brilliantly the title track “Viva la Vida”, followed by “Yes” and “42” both from the new album.

Next was the highlight of the show, “Fix You”, featuring Martin both at the piano and dancing around the stage like a man possessed. The ballad not only showcased Martin’s passionate voice, but both the breath and depth of the band’s musical talents. Every element of the song was perfectly executed and it was truly a performance that was impossible to top! Unfortunately, the song was in the middle of the set, and although they tried, they could not surpass that performance.

While the balance of the show was solid, parts of it seemed almost forced, including the ill placed “Chinese Sleep Chant”. Instead of retaining the energy level in the arena, this song actually seemed to have the opposite affect. In fact, most of the crowd was back in their seats by the time a techno version of “God Put a Smile Upon Your Face” finished.

But thankfully, they did not stay there for long, as the crowd was on their feet again for “Speed of Sound” from their 2004 album X&Y. Martin then addressed the crowd, saying “It’s about time we said hello to everybody”, and then in his characteristically self-deprecating way, said “We are not even Irish or American and you are still being nice to us, so thank you!”

Before taking to a side stage in the middle of section 215 (lucky fans!), the band performed “Yellow”, complete with cheesy yellow lasers, and their latest single “Lost!”. After making their way thought the crowds, the band treated fans to an acoustic version of “The Scientist” and then closed out the main set with drummer Will Champion on lead vocals for “Death Will Never Conquer”.

Back on stage for what would be a quick three song encore, the band performed “Politik”, “Lovers in Japan”, where confetti unnecessarily fell from the rafters and the “Death and All His Friends”, which was dedicated to New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady, Martin saying, “Thank you for the shirt and I hope it [the show] was worth it”. I am pretty sure that Tom would agree that it was worth it!

While it was not an outstanding show, it was a great performance by a band that appears to still be evolving and defining who they want to be when they grow up. During the ninety minute set there were moments of absolute brilliance and there were moments that seemed both forced and uninspired, creating a tension between what could propel them to the rank of mega-stars and what could ensure they never graduate beyond cult status. They clearly have the talent and the fan base to hold the title of ‘best band of the new millennium’, but only time will tell which path they choose.

Opening the show in support of Coldplay was the Santogold. The Philadelphia based singer blended a number of different sounds including techno, hip hop and rock sounds (think M.I.A.), but did little to hold the audience's interest, who were eager to see the main act. And, in an opportunity of a lifetime, winners of an online contest which was ultimately judged by Chris Martin himself, Boston based Luxury took the stage for a short yet solid set.

I will confess to being a Coldplay fan since I first heard “Yellow,” and their sold-out concert at the Garden in Boston did not disappoint. They played a 90-min set that included their newest hit “Viva La Vida” and favorites such as “Speed of Sound.”

There were two opening bands: the first was The Luxury, a local band who had been picked by Coldplay during a contest earlier this year, and they were followed by Santogold, who was entertaining – her backup dancers were straight out of a Devo video, but she didn’t seem to fit the audience.

I have to start with the fact that my seats were behind the VIP row which included Gwyneth Paltrow, who received a standing ovation, Kate Bosworth and Jerry Seinfeld. Despite being star struck, I made my way down to the floor to join the throng of photographers allowed stage side. When the band took to the stage behind a curtain to play “Life in Technicolor” the crowd was electric. I’ll give Chris Martin credit for continuously encouraging the crowd, who was already singing along, to “finish it for me” for such songs as “Fix You” and “Clocks” during which Martin played the piano.

Halfway through, the band did a two song set on a small lighted stage set down into the arena, that included “Chinese Sleep Chant” and “God Put A Smile Upon Your Face.” Although a little underwhelming, they made up for it later when they exited the stage to play half-way up the arena in the rear corner. Here they did an acoustic version of “The Scientist,” followed by one of my favorite moments of the night. Drummer, Will Champion, took over the vocals for “Death Will Never Conquer” while Chris Martin played the harmonica. This was all shown on large, spinning orbs, suspended from the ceiling, which were either surreal or annoying, depending on where you were sitting.

All in all, the band played both loud and bright and small and quiet, keeping the audience on their toes. They could have made even a non-Coldplay fan appreciative of their unique feel. From Chris Martin almost falling of the piano stool during “Clocks” to the shower of fluorescent butterflies during the encore performance of “Politik,” the experience was fantastic.

^ It was not as clever and hilarious as your's, Angie's, and Mel's sign but I tried :)

I made two signs. The one i was holding up in that pic said "Reign of Coldplay Lovers in Boston" and I painted butterflies on it and tried to draw Chris' caricatures of the guys.
The other side of Sign #1 read "VIVA La Guy, Will, Chris, Jonny-Boy" with hearts for Jonny's O's

And Sign #2 side 1 read "Miller Rocks  Roadie #42" Sadly, he was too busy setting up on the stage to look my way when I went up to the stage, screamed "MILLER!!!!" and waved the sign around
Although I think Matt McGinn and some of the other Roadies may have noticed! :dozey:
The other side of Sign #2 was a picture of a drawing I'd done of all 4 of the boys. I wrote "Boston Loves Coldplay" on it!

. . . .I'm still in complete shock/amazement/bliss from the concert and that entire day. . . .

Ok, this has been really bugging me for awhile now....
I've been (VERY HAPPILY) watching Vids from the AMAZING Boston show, and am soaking up everything Chris said, because a lot of it is extremely funny/clever.

However, I cannot decipher what exactly Chris' saying between 3:44 - 3:56 of God Put A Smile Upon Your Face...
All I can pick out is: "God gave me style and ______ . ___ ____ ____ ____ to Massachuuuuusetts."
Anyone know what he said exactly? :inquisitive:

Sounds to me like "God give me style and give me [either "rest" or "bliss", or something...], God bring me down to Massachusetts."
