I REALLLLY want to go to this show and am going to try my best to get some tickets... the only thing that worries me is that when I tried to get tickets for the Chicago show during the Twisted Logic tour they were sold out in minutes!! If I don't get tickets I don't know what I'll do.... :(

Yeah it's at the United Center, during the XY tour when they came to Chicago I was up in the high seats (upper deck or whatever), although they were way up there they still weren't that bad... I would love to have floor seats or lower deck seats this time around but if I can't I would be happy to just be there even if they turn out to be nose bleed seats...

I, for one, am not thrilled about the show being at the United Center. The acoustics are God-awful terrible and the location is not my favorite.

I would have preferred another show at Alpine Valley , but...at least we get a show!

I am hoping to get decent tickets to this - I was on the floor at Quicken (Cleveland) for the X&Y tour and went to the Indy show...this Chitown show appears to be the only one fairly close to Indy...

I say that the acoustics at the United Center are bad because unless you are on the floor there is a lot of feedback thrown around. If you are in the first balcony facing the left side of the stage, at about the halfway point of the venue, it's like you hear everything twice. Ugh. I just hate it there.

I am sure the people behind us, got to hear them really well. In the pit, I think the speakers were actually kind of behind us. But, it was so exciting to be that close.

For the United Center concert last year, we didn't have really close tickets. But, I thought the sound was better, since the speakers were this time in front of us. But, my sister did complain about the sound, saying it was hard to hear them clearly.

Both experiences were good for different reasons. I got to see the stage as a whole and all the effects for the United Center one since we were on the side.

I have been checking this thread like hourly hoping that the stubhub prices are misleading and that I can still get floor seats for $100/piece

Yesterday the Aug 4th show was Boston or something but it was soon back to norm that night. Now Bestbuy presale says its been changed... Aug 4th really worked out for me since Im a football player and have practice literally 6 days a week

That's what's so confusing about the whole mess, according to ticketmaster there IS no Chicago show, coldplay.com and livenation still say August 4th, but Best Buy and the United Center say the 23rd...I'm guessing the presale will be on livenation but nobody's sure.

I just know I'll be really upset if I have to pay scalper-prices for a floor ticket.

Alright, this is what is on Best Buy's site...if you believe their site, the San Jose and Oakland shows are still happening then there is NO WAY they are going to take the whole tour back to Chicago for a show on the 23rd only to turn around and GO BACK to California for a show on the 25th...it doesn't make any sense AT ALL....

Yah, they were giving them away today in the morning, but you had to have a story to tell on their station to get one.

You had to be married and you had to be a woman, because you needed to talk about how you don't trust your husband with your children...or something like that. Best story won.

Ohh well, after reading about it on the RewardZone Community board, it sounds like people werent even able to get good seats. I hope some are saved for Saturday morn.

I gaurantee that the "normal" ticketmaster user on saturday morning wont be getting floor seats. I did this last year (cant remember if they had a Coldplay.com presale or not) but the best I got was 1st row in the 100 section in the back right corner. Seats sucked for the price, but Chris did run up by us toward the end of the show.

Hey everyone, I'm new, but I just have to tell everyone my story. This morning yesterday morning I tried to get pre sale tickets with best buy..but for some reason when I went to pay for them my credit card would not work. 2 friends of mine were also trying to get tickets and they succesfully did..but they paid $94 (with taxes and everything included) for the 300 level seating!!! (I was not going to pay that much to be that high up..plus I really couldn't afford that as well). So I decided well maybe they are only giving out crappy seats for this pre sale so I will try Saturday with everyone else.

Well yesterday during work I was listening to the radio..9fm weplayanthing. They were giving out coldplay tickets so I decided to try to win some tickets..even though I had never won anything before..I still decided to try. Well around 4:30 I called in to try and be the 9th caller and I was!!!. I was so excited and now I have Coldplay tickets for free...I am not sure where they are located though but I can update you guys next week or so..that is when they said they will be sending them out.:D

I too am a newbie....not to Colplay, but this site (LOL). I tried the presale and got floor seats, but decided that Section 6 wasnt for me...I want to see the Band. So, I tried again and actually got section 101, row 10. Now, I find out that my husband has a golf outing that day, and my other coldplay buddy is on vacation! So, I may have to sell - boohoo! Anyway, just wanted to share....that there was a success story there somewhere.

Did anyone see them on the floor last time for the X&Y tour. How good were your seats? I just want to get an idea if it is worth it to get any seats on the floor. I am on the shorter side.. 5'4. I was wondering if you get a good view of the band even if you aren't in the first few rows.

It's expensive and if I won't be able to see them, then I will go for the best that is available for $50. I have only been on the floor once for united center, but there were no seats. It was alright, but kind of difficult to see ( I was way in the back). Good sound though.


Stevemir....sorry to hear about that. Yah, I was glad that I was still able to make it when they changed the concert date. It does kind of suck that they just changed it out of the blue. I am sure they will probably have more cities to tour in the future. Maybe next year!

Parking will be different, as the Cirque de Soleil (sp) is performing under their "big top" in the parking lot. And they have a show at 8:00 ( show is 2 hrs 40 minutes)...so you can imagine what that will be like!!!!! I am sure traffic in and out will be HELL. I am not looking forward to that :)

I am thinkin even though there may be seats, no one will be sitting down..so you might not be able to see but then again I could be wrong I have never been to a concert at the United Center. Any seats in the 200s are good, but the 300s are pretty high up so I would try to get the best available for there. This is just my knowledge from going to the blackhawk games, I have had tickets in the 100s, 200s and 300s. The 100s are amazing.....not sure for a concert though it depends on where they are

If you are going with the 300s try to get tickets in the 316-315 section or on the opposite side 334-301....but yet again they are pretty high up

Oh yes. The first time I clicked it said 4 for 300 levels, and I was pissed haha. When I tried again, it said there were NO seats, so I panicked. And the third time I clicked, I was going to take anything in the building and it happened to be 4 seats in 101 row 2! for like 95 bucks a seat (I of course am paying for 2, not 4 :)). I think I got extremely lucky.

I overheard what section in the floor area people were getting before me and they mentioned section 6. That was already way too far for 100 bucks for me. The girl before me asked for things in the 50 range and she got something in the back of the stadium in the 300 level!

After three people, when they finally got to me there was almost nothing left. What a waste! I also found out that the only $50 tickets were in the back at the 300 level. You can't even see there and that is all they were selling for $50 dollars! The side 300 level were being sold for 70+ bucks. Are you kidding me? I felt like were were mislead with prices. Coldplay should of just made everything 77 or 100 bucks. And I think that is still overpriced!

But, it didn't matter, because when I finally got to ask for tickets even in the 200 level, she said there was nothing left. At the end, when I told her to keep checking then she kept saying that all that was left was behind the stage! What!? I don't want to pay 50 to not see there faces and have the speakers in front of me. Anyways, I was dissapointed once again. I hate waiting for tickets and then being disappointed. This already happened to me once before with them.

Anyways, I ended up not buying any tickets and being really disappointed. What is sad is that I am a true fan and it doesn't look like I am going to go to the concert now. I almost can't believe it. Coldplay should not be a band that only is for the elite. And why did they sell out so fast? Probably because they market themselves so much now! I go to other concerts in the year other than them, so they are not the only band I spend music on. They should understand that since they love music as much as I do.

Sorry to hear that...It seems like a lot of the tickets people bought are now on ebay or other ticket sites now for a lot of money....maybe there is one last chance..mabey you could win a pair off of a radio station..I know it sounds kind of unrealistic but I was able to win a pair....and I never win anything.

That whole Block Buster pre-sale thing was a waste of time. The codes were done being given out after an hour of being available.

Tickets for the first Chicago show were sold out the day of.

TONS of good seats are being auctioned off! I still dont get this whole auctining tickets off for the show, what a rip off for the fan. I guess if they didnt reserve them and auction them off, scalpers would just get them and resell them anyways.

I'm going to attempt to get tix this saturday but wont be too disappointed if I dont.

I dont even think I am going to buy the album, might just burn a copy.

The sections 300 and above aren't as bad as you may think actually, when the lights go on its kind of dizzying because it is high up, but when its dark it's fine... I saw Coldplay last time at the UC and was in 312 I think and it was fine, the sound quality was really good as well.... what I would recommend is bring a small pair of binoculars if you want to see them that close.

I do think it is odd that they don't have an office messageboard anymore either. Dosn't seem like they want to cater to the fans...it's weird they took it off their new site. I know there is the old one...but it doesn't seem to be as busy and is a bit ghetto. Luckily there is this messageboard.

I think they are overcharging way too much... especially for their 300 and 200 seats. I don't know why it has been so difficult getting good tickets this year. At least the 2nd show didn't sell out as fast!

it's tragic though, what happened exactly. here's the scoop.

My friend signed up for a best buy reward zone card, or whatever, prior to the show, but he signed up too late for it to be valid for the presale offer. So I'm like "woah dude, i've had one for ages! I will get you, your girlfriend, my friend, and I, all tickets to coldplay" and he was stoked, as was I.

So I go online during my lunch break at work, to check out to see if this is gonna work out for us, and all was good until i read about the maximum of only 2 tickets...i was crushed. I went back to work to explain what happened, and i said "well...i'm gonna see if the person i'm going with, if they wanna pay near $100 for tickets for the show, if they dont get back to be by tomorrow morning at 10:00, i will give you the presale code".

So I called, and told her whats up, and she didnt pick up. My message explained the situation, and such. She never called back, so the next morning, in the most awful pain i explained how he and his girlfriend can just take the presale code..

They have amazing seats, and now im stuck in the 300's

I have the choice between two different tickets for one of the concerts. The choices are section 6 row 8, or section 207 row 1. They're both the same price (face) and both are good ticekts. However I can't decide which one to get.

The downside to the floor seats is that they are about 30 rows from the stage. I might not have a problem seeing, but the two girls in our group most likely will. Has anyone had floor seats that can help explain how the view is.

The 200 level seats are nice as well, but theyre almost dead center. Meaning they're the farthest club level seats. Being in the first row will be nice (no one in front of us), but would I be sacrificing a lot of distance from the stage?

Anyone with any advice please let me know.

If they are the same price...maybe floor. The problems is that they are quite a bit back...but if you want to be in the midst of the fans and have that kind of experience you may want to get these. You may experience the effects and sound better. The only thing is you may not be able to see the band as well. I'm shorter, so I understand.

The 200s are still up there..but you have the first row. You will be able to see the band, but they may be tiny if you are directly opposite to them. But, your view will probably be good of the whole stage and audience.

That's my two cents...the only time I was on floor was for U2. At the time I didn't care if I saw the band or not and they had screens...

it was general admission and no seating, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I couldn' see the band all that well...but sound wise, I must say that was one of the best concerts I had been too. I also paid around 25 bucks for them, so I wasn't too picky. Since they have assigned seats now...I wonder if that helps keep people spread apart so that you can see better or not.

I can't ditch my Hubbie! He loves Coldplay & is my favorite person to hang with at shows...He wouldn't go to the Ritz , but HE WOULD be willing to hang around at an exit for a chance to get a picture. Yes, it is fun. Since my hubby is a hater I taught her the names of the boys and their instruments...hee hee...the other day Cemeteries of London was on and I asked her who sang this song....and she said - I don't know, might be, probably Coldplay! HAHAHHAHAH!

They typically play for 1 1/2 hrs (20-22 songs) and come out anywhere between 9-9:30. As long as you are in your seat by 9, it will be fine. Have fun at the concert!

Doors opened at 6:30. 2 opening acts and both sucked IMO. I almost fell asleep during Jon Hopkins' set. Talk about a sleep chant! Coldplay came on stage around 9:20.

Once again the show was just amazing! Coldplay sounded great :D

Chris' voice was just perfect and he seemed happy!

Ok as to the setlist, it was exactly the same as yesterday with one exception. In between the Escapist and Green Eyes. They played a NEW SONG! It was short (about one minute and a half) and I think that Chris said that the song was not finished yet. I couldn't really hear what Chris was saying about this song because the crowd in my section was going absolutely wild. Perhaps someone who was there and could hear better could explain. This new song sounded amazing, it reminded me of Death Will Never Conquer. I hope someone got it on video.

Then something very strange happened. After this new song the boys started playing Green Eyes. All of a sudden Guy left the stage!!!! I don't know what happened. About a minute into the song, Chris kept saying "Guy please come back and finish the song with us"--- but Guy never came back. Chris, Johnny and Will finished the song without Guy. At the end of the song Chris said "we dedicate this song to our bassist Guy-- wherever he is" Then the show ended. So again not sure what happened there.

Finally the crowd was definitely better than yesterday. They were dancing and singing even to new songs like Yes, 42, and Strawberry Swing. Also they performed Lost! twice and Chris explained that it was for there next video.
