I was on ready to buy at 10:00 am and only got section D tickets I figured i would get at least the first three sections. Was i just not fast enough of is something else going on. Last tour I was in row 12 and bought them at least two hours after the sale went up.

Well, it's called an oligopoly, unless I am mistaken as far as the dynamics are concerned of TM and its competitors. Very few ticket outlets. The other feature is that TM has many exclusive contracts with the major venues throughout the U.S. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticketmaster You have to love Pearl Jam. They at least practice what they sing about. However, I've never been a real big fan of their music overall, although I do like some of their songs. I may have to give them a try.

Also, I paid $110 per ticket through the TM auction they had for the Palace show in '06, like the one now and they were pretty solid seats, Section A, Row 10, Seats 1 and 2 (here's a short video http://youtube.com/watch?v=3ULmFbbWioY )

I don't have a job right now so I think I may have to count myself out unless I find one fairly soon. This is just a bit too much money to be borrowing from a parent or someone else and the tickets are rather expensive, regardless, so I won't be upset if I don't see them. Maybe it will send a message if they make less money this time around on this tour. Even the seats in level 200 are expensive at $77.

Also, ticket venues hold onto seats. Keep trying, even up to a week and the day of the show. It's most likely not a conspiracy

How do those people that auction the tickets get them early? I almost did a "buy it now" auction on ebay for a code, but this was Fri and I was worried I wouldn't get the code in time and it would be a wasted $40. I've been to alot of concerts but never really cared about being close until this one. Most of the ones I've been to were small venues, gen admission or lawn, and that's where the fun is!! I was waiting at 10am, but with my slow internet I missed out on some good seats)none in the front three sections. My seats F row 12. Just for the heck of I kept checking for seats and ~ 11 am all the floor seats were sold out.
Has anyone been to the palace? I saw Paul McCartney from the nosebleed section. Worth every penny because it was a dream come true, but very crowded in those damn seats!
Hoping I'm sitting by some wild fans, cause I'm taking my husband who isn't too hip on going.

Definitely keep checking Ticketmaster everyday, especially as the date of the concert nears. They will release more seats....and some of the best ones at that. I've seen it happen time and time again. In fact, that's what my best friend and I will be waiting for...as we didn't bother to buy the garbage that was offered this morning lol:lol:

They're for sure holding back sections....the only blocks of tickets that kept coming up were in 115, 114, 126, 115, and floor sections D, E, and F. That's messed up.

I wouldnt count on it a lot of the best tickets are either on the ticketmaster auction, i also saw some on stubhub and ebay so I wouldnt take the chance that the best tickets are still being sold by ticketmaster it looks like they've already been sold.

Trust me....I've been to over 100 concerts....they ALWAYS hold back tickets. It's just a matter of checking Ticketmaster persistantly, because they randomly release these seats...sometimes weeks or days before the show, or even on the day of.

Yes, Ticketmaster is auctioning off tickets....but not entire sections.

So true. That's how I've been able to get amazing seats for CP's last tour. Bought a 6th row seat a day before the Cleveland date and 3rd row a few weeks before Detroit. But it's usually only single seats. Which I'm entirely fine with. The secret is out.

The reason for the show being pushed back is quite vague.

"We're very sorry, but unfortunately Coldplay have had to move the dates of some of the previously-announced US shows. The band have experienced some production delays which mean that the show simply won't be ready for June 29. It's very frustrating but they promise you a show worthy of your patience and understanding when they start in mid-July. All tickets remain valid, but refunds will be available from the point of purchase if you're unable to make it to the new date. Click here to view the full revised routing."

Personally, if you ask me, they just weren't moving enough tickets. There seems to be quite a few tickets that remain to be sold. I could be wrong though. I admit, now that it was pushed back, I am more likely to go, seeing that it was pushed back three months.

Hey Marisa, I'm just curious and I hope I'm not being too nosy, but how are things going? Still attending school? I think I'm going to settle into a liberal arts degree of Urban Studies--not sure about grad school yet though, but that's down the road.

Also, could someone please give me some insight as to why they pushed the tour back or give me your opinion as to why. I gave mine in this thread and while I still like Coldplay, the price of tickets are a bit steep. I know a sentiment that was expressed by quite a few people in one thread upon release of ticket info was that they like Coldplay, but GEEZ--these tickets are a bit pricey.

EDIT: I see it says here it was pushed back because Chris twisted his knee, but then again Chris himself conflicts that, so something is up here.

I still just can't see myself paying quite this much for tickets but I'll see. There are a lot of great bands out there that aren't quite as well known and hence tickets aren't sky high.

Performing in Coldplay -- performing in the world's biggest band -- could get comfy. Too comfy, even, report Freep.

For bassist Guy Berryman, though, the nightly thrill is intact. Even after all the massive stadium shows, all the mega festivals, stepping on stage still brings a tingle -- that rush of blood, you might call it. "I don't get nervous anymore. But I still get that great sense of excitement," he says. "I love that moment right before we go on, that anticipation of the lights coming down. It never tires for me."

Coldplay will visit the Palace of Auburn Hills on Monday, latest stop in a global tour supporting "Vida La Vida or Death and All His Friends," the British band's fourth album of moody, edge-of-artsy piano rock. In a year of music industry struggles, the album is a big-time standout, having enjoyed the biggest debut yet for Berryman, vocalist-pianist Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckman and drummer Will Champion: In the United States alone, the album sold 720,000 copies its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan -- more than 300,000 of them on the first day.

With sales of the album continuing to pile up, the band has been on the road nearly nonstop since June, including a U.S. summer sprint that initially included a metro Detroit show. (The date was bumped when the tour's start was delayed because of production snags.)

That means the Palace audience will get a Coldplay that is firmly locked into its live groove.

"We've got four records now, so we have to get the balance right between the new album and the old songs people want to hear," he says. "We try to make it as dynamic as possible from beginning to end. It took us awhile -- it took most of the first American tour to knock that into shape. The show pretty much runs in the same order now, because it's working."

A revamped production team has brought a new visual look to Coldplay's stage production, and even introduced what Berryman describes as "a few things people haven't seen before at other concerts."

For the decade-old band, life on the road is low-key these days. Berryman says he has learned to pace himself to endure the rigors of touring, eschewing the high life in favor of stints in the gym and daily jogs. Hopping from hotel to hotel, spending long stretches in air-conditioned spaces, it's too easy to get ill. And "it's not fun having a cold on tour -- you can't call in sick."

"We destroyed ourselves a few times by not looking after ourselves -- partying every night, staying up late," he says, recalling the band's early days. "Certainly, for me in particular, we're really just trying to keep healthy. It's that age-old thing: healthy body, healthy mind. I'd have laughed at myself a few years ago if I could hear myself saying that. But it's true."

Coldplay will wrap up its year of touring with a series of U.K. dates in December. After a month break, the band will regroup in the studio to begin cutting material for a fifth album.

"The plan, in an ideal world, is to have something finished by the end of 2009," says Berryman.

That would mark a notably fast turnaround for a band that's been known to take its time between records, including three-year gaps between each of the band's past three albums. And fans even get a treat in the interim: the Nov. 25 release of "Prospekt's March," an eight-song EP featuring material left over from the "Vida" sessions and a new version of the single "Lost," remixed by fellow A-lister Jay-Z.

Coldplay has been quick to stress that these aren't throwaway tracks. Indeed, says Berryman, much of the material could have fit seamlessly on "Vida."

"We didn't want to make the album too long. We thought the third record was too long, and we didn't want to make that mistake again. But these songs were too good just to be B-sides on singles," he says. "It's kind of meant to be an amendment to 'Vida La Vida.' We wanted people to hear that record as a standalone first, and not bombard them. We're really proud of it."

I'm pretty pumped for this gig. It's been too long since I've last been able to dance like there's no tomorrow and just enjoy some amazing amazing music. I'm going to go spastic. And hopefully if planning goes right.. you'll see exactly where I'll be in my seat. haha. I'd make a sign but they are too much trouble, waving it around to get the boys to see that. Although the pay off is awesome when they do see it, happened to me last tour in Cleveland. *swoon* Eye contact is just so cool!

They are going to hang around at the bar across the street and go back out and see if they can get a glimpse of them arriving.

Well that sucks about security. The Palace definitely has some mean ass ppl working there. Also it's hard to stalk and stand around the venue because its on a SUPER BUSY highway and then a huge median road. Even walking across the street is dangerous. Hope they are safe!

I'd thought for sure they would be in Birmingham down the road doing some shopping. haha. That's where they were last tour and Chris had mentioned one of the hair salon's where he had a trim. I bet the security was lying but hopefully the girls will just wait to see the big black SUVS that shuttle them there.

I just got in from clinic, showered and getting ready. I'll picking up a few last minute illuminating things then off to my friends house to leave. Mandy!!! Are you getting ready?

Just talked to Mel. They met Peter. He's the guy that sets up the band's dressing room. He says the band will be there at around 6pm and he will try to come out and give them a heads up that they are coming. They are having to wait across the street but Peter said the band should be able to see them where they are standing when they get there . They have signs and stuff. Peter said he's going to try and get them some signed stuff. awwwwwwwwwww

When they met Bash, some other roadie named Fat Tony was with him. They have a Roadie banner and told Bash to watch for it during the show. hehe

They are going to try and get a pic of Peter when he comes back out so we can have a new face for the roadie gallery.

She will call me back if something happens or in about an hour which ever comes first. :D

I mean I JUST saw them in Boston and a lot of the Roadies (not Bash though) saw the "Roadies Rock" sign I made for them.

R#42 looked up VERY briefly when my mum screamed his name, so I don't think he actually got a good read of the banner.
But that means that the other roadies probably told him and the others about it later.....
and they did take a picture of us holding it (it was on one of the video-cameras that's in front of the stage... so I really hope they got the picture/video :bomb:)
