Philly Roll Call..Whose Going?

Hey everyone! I will not be going since the date has changed, but hope that all of you who are going have a great time!

I know I spelled Who's wrong in the title... please forgive me!

Edited: Thanks to my CPing buddy, bta5857, who is working hard to get us the best seats... I actually met throught this board and have shared several concerts together. She is the best! Coldplay fans are the best!!! :) Now in 114 row 1, thanks bta5857... for all your hard work on the auction!! Luv yah!!

Edited: Thanks to bta5857, but regret that the date change has cost me too much loss of money to buy another flight and hotel! Will go to Orlando later. Have a great night... wish I was rich!

Welcome to the thread for the above show which can be used for all discussion prior to, during and after the show.

One thread one show - should hopefully keep everyone organised and up-to-date with Coldplay on the road.

Did you get tickets?
Are you looking for tickets?
Are you looking for ticket swaps?
Need help/directions on getting to the show?
Not sure what the arrangements and rules are for the particular venue is?
Are you just bloody excited?
Do you have a review for the show?
Did you take any pictures... share them here!

I ended up getting lower level section 113. I was actually one of the participants passing out the "USA Loves Coldplay" signs during the last Philly concert, so it will be nice to see the stage from a different view! I hope to see some of you there!

Is anyone else outraged that livenation/Wachovia are auctioning off all of the section 1,2, and 3 tickets for over $400-$600 thus far?

scientist7475
17-05-2008, 05:58 AM
I'll be in floor section 7. The tickets were definitely a little pricier than the last time they came to town, but last time was definitely worth it so I'm hoping this will be too. A nice little birthday present for myself 6 days after.

Considering I paid like 600 for two tickets to the garden up in the 200's section this is like a steal for me.

Check out stubhub and see what these tickets are already going for, the row above me is up too $400 a ticket.

Ill take my $95 a ticket anyday lol

17-05-2008, 08:17 PM
Maxx, I'm in over in 108. I agree about the $95. I saw the '06 show at Wachovia, and I gotta say the venue wasn't the best. I think I paid about $20 less for those tix too. Oh well...

I wonder if Chris will run around during In My Place like last time. When he stood on the box singing he was directly in front of me within arms length.

I just bought a reserved parking ticket... not thru ticketmaster, but redirected to comcast ticketing, the same as the show tickets... this parking was listed as $15, then they charged 2 more taxes and fees, then they did not offer printout like ticketfast, so they will mail it for regular mail charged $3.50!!! Why? It only costs $0.42 for a stamp. total was $24, quite a difference from $15. Well, myself and bta5857 will be in Lot D if anyone is parking in that Lot on Broad Street, we hope to meet you there! :)

I got section 4 row 9 on the floor. I hope that I can see! Are we doing a sign campaign again for the opening act of the tour? I was at the Philly show when you guys did it last year as well as the one in DC for Chris's birthday. We really need to think of something clever. I will havea few people with me that I know will help!!

You guys seriously need another sign campaign. You guys are the first show of the tour right? Start it off right. Do something like, "Last show 06, First show 08, we love you guys!" or something lol. That probably won't fit but you get the idea.

New member here. I am trying to get my parents to get me Coldplay tickets for Philly. I have never been to a concert simply because there was never a band worth laying down 50$ to see. airies lady - its aaron, if you have a rediculously good memory, i helped you pass out the coldplay/usa signs at the last concert. i met you guys in the parking lot before the show.

this being the first show (MSG doesnt count!), philly ended it last time, we should start with a bang this time. im feelin a sign again. like "welcome back" or "welcome home". something of that nature. obviously id love to help out again. email me or...just get at me somehow. cant wait

I think it is a great idea, PM ColdplayJoe on here and discuss the signs, I PM'd them with info for how many needed for each section...one pack of 500 (collated into 20's.. each row aprox.) ...will cover one section... we covered floor and first level all the way around with 12,000 signs. If you get 12 people to make 1000 each, you can do it! ColdplayJoe has designed the template for sign and will email to anyone interested in participating!

So there are enough people here that are interested ... Who wants to make signs? :deal2: Tanks for you help! :D

Both my girlfriend and I have used Adobe Illustrator to design a "USA Still Loves Coldplay" sign with paintbrush strokes and splatters similar to the Viva La Vida album cover. We will be redesigning these signs to read "Viva La Coldplay" by the end of the week and will hopefully have an approved sign design for distribution by next monday.

Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm!

The last show in Philly, I don't think you attended, but there were instructions on the bottom of each sign to hold up for encore. The signs were held up waiting for the band to play the encore. The entire show was sign free until that moment which was pretty dramatic. Their photographer came out on the stage and took pictures or video of us. Before the band started their encore. Nobody complained, they were just impressed and the band sent a message back to us at the very end with one of the signs, on stage they reversed the words and held up "Coldplay Loves USA", sooo cool!

Just calm down, and have a great time! :D

I am disappointed for the posts and enthusiam not shown on the DC thread. Sounds like all the real fans on the board are hitting up the philly show. Anyone planning on hitting up the DC show too? I didn't plan on going to philly since DC is only the second show and its much closer since I live in balitmore (plus I couldnt' get anyone to spurge for tickets in philly too). I would love to see them opening up the tour in philly tho too but I wasn't able to get decent seat at general admisson time (thanks to all you ticket brokers for sucking up all the good seats in the first day  ). Anyone got (1) decent ticket they wouldn't mind selling to a coldplay fan so he can see them opening up the tour? :wink3:

I need advice...

I go to school in Philly, but am in DC for the summer. I would rather go to the DC show, but am going to the Philly one because I have to be up at school the weekend of the show anyway for something. Wachovia, in my opinion, is not as good as Verizon from a venue standpoint, and its right next to my building in DC so I'd rather go to Verizon. Should I stay with my lower bowl tickets for Wachovia and go opening night or go just down the road to the DC show, try and get better tickets and sell off my Philly ones/trade with some of you guys?

Is opening night gonna be that sick with the signs and all that I shouldn't miss it?

yo philly people. the 29th will be here before we know it...i was talkin to a fellow philly concert goer about concerts in this city..see if you agree ...

ah nice, an outa towner coming to philly. i honestly think philly has the best concert fans, and def the best coldplay fans, in the country. ive seen shows from big time bands in other cities, and without bias i honestly think philly is the best. bands literally look blown away when they play here. but yes, i was part of the sign gang last time. should be a great time again this time.

basically, without bias, i can say that philly has the best music fans, coldplay included, anywhere. bands alwayyyys say "you guys are the best crowd" at every show, but in philly they reallllly are blown away and go out of their way to appreciate the crowd. its something special

I hope we get an explanation tomorrow. I'm still most likely going to be able to attend, but for others (Barb, Pam, etc.) they might not be able to make it!

UGH!

Well, I haven't tried to change my flights yet, cause I don't know if this new date is permanent or what! I am going to lose money anyway around it! So will wait this one out a few more days! Cause it just seems strange that this band would travel all the way across the country for this date! And it won't be the first show anymore...which sort of messes up this sign campaign! I don't know if I can get time off from work either! WTF! :(

Hello,
The Coldplay concert was rescheduled from June 29 to July 25. The tickets for the original date will be honored at the rescheduled date. There will not be duplicate tickets sold for seats. If you are unable to attend the newly rescheduled date, then you can call 1877-263-9372.
Thank you and have a great day!

Kind regards,
Tyrone

Subject: Coldplay Concert Date Changed

To whom it may concern,

I have recently stumbled upon information stating that the Coldplay
concert scheduled for June 29 has been changed to July 25. I was
wondering both why the date was changed and what should ticket holders
do with their tickets? Will tickets with the date June 29 still be
honored at the July 25th concert? Could duplicate seats be sold, thus
allowing for two separate tickets to be available for one seat?

Thanks in advance,
Joseph A. Fleury

Hi, Debs. Is there any way you can help me with a question I need answered? Is the LiveNation website the most accurate place for concert dates and locations? The concert for Philadelphia has been changed on LiveNation from June 29 to July 25. I was flying in from NC for that concert, so I really need to know accurate information. Also, it looks like LiveNation has some other changes from the tour dates listed on Coldplay.com. For example, there is no longer an Orlando, FL concert listed in November. Help!! And, thanks for anything you can tell me.

Best to look at cp.com but ...... I'd advise to hang fire til later today/tomorrow

I thought the whole Live Nation ticket distribution thing wasn't going to be used until next year, but oh well. If you go on the comcasttix page, it says the concert's been postponed. It's annoying, but it seems someone isn't very good at planning tours... they are flying from vegas, to philly, back to british columbia in the span of four days. Doesn't that drive up costs and dumb? I also know the philly show wasn't sold out yet when I checked for tickets again a few days ago (that's two weeks after they went on sale). I am still going to the rescheduled date. Also, I am curious why they don't play MSG on another date... Pearl Jam is playing there the two days after the free show, but how about in the fall? Yeah, Bryce Jordan Center is convenient for those who go to PSU!

And that leaves us with the date of June 29th to rely on....... I guess we should call the Wachovia Center on Monday. I don't know what started all this confusion, but I would love to give someone a swift kick in the pants (and that's putting it very nicely :whip:). It seems like LiveNation & Comcast may have jumped the gun by posting a date change that was not 100% firm. It is logical that the Philly concert is June 29, especially now that they're supposed to play Oakland CA on July 25. As Barb has said all along, it never made sense that they would drag their entire tour across the country for one day, and then back over to the West coast again in order to play Philly on July 25. So, after all this confusion and embarrassment, I feel 85% certain that Coldplay will be at the Wachovia Center on June 29th, even though we have e-mails from Comcast saying the date is July 25. I know that helps everyone.... :dizzy:

OK, now I am going to go listen to Strawberry Swing 10 times so I can get in a better mood! :)

OK, I just spent 30 minutes on the phone with Comcast Tickets (1-877-546-7733). They still insist that July 25 is the date of the Coldplay concert in Philly. So, I am officially ready to be committed to a mental hospital. Does anyone communicate nowadays? How can Coldplay.com and LiveNation list the date as June 29 and Comcast state it's July 25? At any rate, I got off the phone with Comcast at 12:30 PM EDT on Saturday, June 7. I even told them that Coldplay was scheduled to be in Oakland, CA on July 25. But, no, they insisted that I should not travel to Philly on June 29, but rather on July 25. So, please don't shoot me if Comcast changes their mind at some point in time next week, but right now they would not budge from the rescheduled for July 25 chant. :wreck:

I just got off of the phone with Comcast Tix as well and they haven't been able to give me a straight answer as to why Coldplay is scheduled for Oakland, CA as well as Philadelphia, PA on July 25th, 2008. They did say that the web development team has been out because of prior commitments and therefore haven't been able to update the website. They also mentioned that the date originally scheduled, June 29, was both inconvenient for Coldplay as well as for booking the Wachovia Center (whatever that means). Unfortunately, they couldn't explain why livenation.com nor coldplay.com haven't updated their websites to reflect the changes. Still waiting for a straightforward answer...

Anyone still interested in the Coldplay Sign Gang, please send me a PM with your email address. We are still planning on distributing signs for June 29 *ahem* I mean July 25!

bta5857
07-06-2008, 07:59 PM
In other words, no one knows what the fuck is going on. What sort of prior commitment could a "web development team" have? A "conference" in Bermuda? Give me a *&^%$! break. I cannot take this incompetence any more. Nothing is listed on the Oakland arena's website for July 25, btw, and there's no link for purchasing tickets for that concert yet either on LiveNation. Somebody somewhere needs a good ass kicking for being 100% lousy at their job. :speechless: :smash:

The number for the Wachovia Center is (215) 336-3600 and the number for Comcast Tickets is (877) 546-7733. I think we should all call each number every day until we get a reliable and verifiable response. Maybe if we drive them nuts with our calls, someone will get off their lazy ass and do their job.

So, there is definitely more than one concert with completely conflicting information out there:

http://www.hppsj.com/schedule/
HP Pavilion's site says San Jose Coldplay concert is July 18 while both
Live Nation & Coldplay say the San Jose concert is July 24.

On top of the fact that Coldplay obviously cannot play both Oakland and Philly on July 25.

ok so I went to Livenation and selected the Coldplay Philadelphia show which still says June 29th. I clicked on buy tickets, and selected 2 tickets (for best available) and it brought up 2 tickets in the upper deck. I went to proceed to checkout and it says in bold on the checkout page:

The Coldplay concert has been rescheduled for July 25, 2008 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Tickets for the original date of June 29, 2008 will be honored at the rescheduled show.

I would be inclined to believe that July 25th is the actual date. I am just annoyed that the official CP site has yet to announce this change.

The only problem with this theory is that Coldplay is on the West coast before and after July 25, AND they are scheduled to be in Oakland on July 25. There are just too many inconsistencies for me to accept July 25 is the real date. I'm starting to be more inclined that this concert will be straight up cancelled before it is played on July 25. I don't see how they can bring their entire tour & support group back across the US for one date, just to turn around, go back to the West coast and play at Pemberton on July 27. It's so illogical that it's practically unbelievable that July 25 is correct. If June 29th doesn't work for either the band or the Wachovia Center, then I am going to predict this concert will be simply cancelled, especially if ticket sales are bad as someone else mentioned.

Yep, it is nearly impossible for Coldplay to have thier stage setup and instruments moved across country in less than a day. It may be possible if they have two stage setups available (as some tours do), but even then, it seems like a very tiring and big hassle for the band and personnel. Also, the Philly date will easily sell out, so I doubt that they would cancel the show, but it may be rescheduled again. Hopefully, Coldplay.com will have an update on the tour dates this week.

ColdplayJoe
09-06-2008, 05:13 PM
On the LiveNation Coldplay tour page, it now says nothing under the ticket column regarding Oakland being canceled on July 25th, 2008. Furthermore, Comcast Tix changed the event date for the concert from June 25th (a typo, I believe...) to June 29th, 2008 (the original date).

Additionally, coldplay.com has not released an official date change announcement nor have they changed the date of the Philadelphia concert from the list of stops on the home page. I hope we hear something soon... the concert is (hopefully) 20 days away!

Cheers to Coldplay's Viva La Vida Tour
Jeers to the concert producers/venues not being able to correctly display the tour dates!

If you click on the link to buy tickets to the Philly concert, you are still led to the lovely Comcast Ticket webpage with the announcement that the concert is rescheduled for July 25. (The one Jasmyne refers to in her post). As of noon on Monday, June 9 EDT, this confusion is still not cleared up. I honestly can't take this moronic bullshit any more. Why can't people just do their damn jobs?

I think there is no way the concert will be on July 25 seeing as how they are supposed to be on the west coast. Also, their MySpace page confirms the 6/29 date. I mean come on, if we can't believe MySpace, what can we believe?

BUT Comcast Tix is the only site listing the concert date as July 25. Everywhere else, including Coldplay.com lists the date as June 29. JBella76, you need to begin your ticket search on LiveNation.com. Since the Wachovia Center is owned/managed/whatever by Comcast, Comcast Tickets is selling the concert tickets for Coldplay in Philly, not technically Ticketmaster itself, though usually Ticketmaster will redirect you to Comcast Tix.

Coldplay cannot play both Oakland, CA and Philly on July 25. This date change needs to be confirmed by someone who appears to have a damn brain in their head. And so far, no one has come forward to explain all of these concert date conflicts and straighten Coldplay's tour schedule out on every relevant website. Could someone please explain whether or not the Coldplay concert scheduled for June 29th, 2008 in Philadelphia, PA at the Wachovia Center has been kept the same or rescheduled for July 25th, 2008? I cannot believe that neither Live Nation, Comcast Tix, nor coldplay.com have been able to confirm the actual date. The scheduled concert date is only 3 weeks away, yet the people who have purchased $200+ have no idea whether to drive to Philadelphia on June 29th (like your website says) or on July 25th (like the official Comcast Tix website says). Please explain how such a large tour could be so improperly managed...

maybe because the tickets aren't through ticket master?

ive found, not just for coldplay, that philly isnt listed. even when theyre a stop. its very strange, so i tend to not look at ticketmaster. but the weirdest thing is that on that comcast tix page...yes, it does say JULY 25 when you actually click to buy the tickets...but on the same page it has a huge picture promoting the concert for JUNE 29. also on their calender its june 29. so...the same site is contradicting itself.

wtf?!

Coldplay Jul. 25, 2008 - 8:00 pm Wachovia Center May 16, 2008 - 10:00 am

This was posted on the see all events section of the Comcast Wachovia Center website. The weird thing is that most dates that have been rescheduled say "rescheduled!" next to the artist's name. Weird...

Coldplay Sign Gang Members,

Please send me an email if you are still interested in distributing signs for either the June 29th or July 25th date. I am currently in the process of compiling the seating assignments, emails, coldplaying.com usernames, and distribution locations for each of the current Coldplay Sign Gang Members. I will be sending that email to you all by the end of the week.

Thanks,
ColdplayJoe (Joe)

P.S. -- Keep sending those emails or making calls to Comcast Tix or whomever so that we can finally receive an official statement regarding the actual date of the Philadelphia show. I know that bta5857, airieslady, myself, and others on this thread have been doing their fair share of calling/emailing. Check the link posted by Ebs to send emails to Live Nation and check out the phone numbers listed by bta for Comcast Tix/Wachovia Center!

From Coldplay.com:

We're very sorry, but unfortunately Coldplay have had to move the dates of some of the previously-announced US shows. The band have experienced some production delays which mean that the show simply won't be ready for June 29. It's very frustrating but they promise you a show worthy of your patience and understanding when they start in mid-July. All tickets remain valid, but refunds will be available from the point of purchase if you're unable to make it to the new date. Click here to view the full revised routing.

Lame about the new schedule..Especially the part of me seeing them in DC on the 2nd show of the tour...which is now the 2nd to last date in America before they go to Canada. Oh well. I feel better now that I was able to get a philly ticket (Section 1 Row 12) for face value :D

We are going to be missing both you and Pam at the show :(

I'm sorry that everything has just become such a big mess. It would be nice for Comcast Tix or someone to partially reimburse you for the Philadelphia show (or your travel expenses) because of the rescheduling. Maybe you'll both be able to print some of the signs for the Orlando concert if you attend together!

Barb, thanks again for your enthusiasm and support of the Coldplay Sign Gang for the upcoming Philadelphia show. We'll all miss your presence at the concert. Keep sending me emails every now and then to keep in touch. Hopefully we'll get to go to a show together sometime!

Just wanted to throw out that if anyone can't make it to the rescheduled Philly show and would like their tickets to go to a real fan (who you hopefully won't rip off), please PM me!

A friend of mine was supposed to come through with tickets for me, but unfortunately, that ended up falling through, so I didn't buy tickets when they went on sale. Stupid idea on my part, honestly. So please let me know! It'd be very much appreciated. ;)

I was able to get it becuase someone obviously returned the ticket now that the show was rescheduled. I have been checking the wachovia ticket office online for one best available ticket like everyday to see what kind of tickets were available. I saw this little baby come up (Section 1 row 12) and I about pee'd my pants. I bought it on the spot. So I'd keep checking the ticket office becuase people/promoters/douchebags return tickets so I was able to take advantage..I get to see coldplay twice in one week. :D:D:D I'm soo flipping excitied.

Comcast Tix still has good offers for Lower section tickets. I would do a search there first.

good seats are available for the upper sections closest to the stage for $77(rows 2 and 4). i got 2 of the $50 tickets this afternoon since they were in the 1st row of section 205A. as much as i enjoy seeing coldplay the bottom line is they will probably only play 90 minutes and after all the fees i thought the other seats were too steep in price. obviously people are returning tickets as different ones are available everyday.

PLEASE PM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!! I really really really need the money back and I want someone to have an amazing time!! If someone doesn't PM me by this Saturday the 21st...I have to go to ebay. :( NJ has stupid laws and I actually loose money if i use stubhub.
( I did win tickets to the MSG show on my local radio station, so karma rules!!!)

why don't you just call comcasttix so they can refund your money? the market on ebay is not much of anything. if you get face plus fees you will be lucky. you're probably better off just getting a refund from comcasttix.

Hey Coldplay Sign Gang members! I've been extremely busy over the last few weeks (including celebrating my birthday yesterday) and haven't been able to work on the seating diagram/distribution chart for the July 25th show. I know that JBella now has the parking ticket, so I will be coordinating a little tailgating meetup before the show with her. I am hoping to get information about the signs out to everyone within the next week or so.

Anyone interested in becoming a CP Sign Gang member, please send me a PM.

Cheers,

Hey everyone!

The sign distribution diagram is nearly complete. If anyone is interested in joining the Coldplay Sign Gang to help distribute signs, we are in need of as many volunteers as possible. Please send me a PM with your email address and I will send you a copy of the sign .pdfs (there are two, approximately 2 MB each) courtesy of my girlfriend. Unfortunately, she might not be able to attend the rescheduled show like several other members mentioned before, so anyone interested in printing and distributing signs should contact me as soon as possible!

Thanks everyone!

I will be printing some signs using the template my girlfriend designed, and will be sending that template out to anyone who hasn't received it yet. Cool I'm from Point Pleasant myself. Only been to the Wachovia center once but Route 70 or 195 are the best ways to get to Philly. Based on Friday traffic though I'll be taking 70 though I don't think it will make much of a difference.

South Street is great fun. And not too, too far from the venue.

Do you think we could get them to play an extra song at the end of the show? Between the signs and everything...if we were to scream for it, it might be effective. Worth a try?

Hey...to any Philly natives, or frequent visitors to the city....

I'll be driving down from North Jersey and planning to leave mid-afternoon to avoid rush hour traffic, so I'll be arriving a few hrs before the show starts. Never been to Philly or to the Wachovia Center, so have no idea where we could hang out before show time. I was thinking we'd get something to eat/drink, but dunno what the area around the venue is, or if there's some cool part of the city to check out, restaurant/pub/bar-wise.

Any ideas, tips????? THANKS!:)

Cooky, unfortunately the Wachovia Center is in the sports complex where there are not too many dining options. The closest option would be McFaddens at Citizen's Bank Park (where the Phillies play), but there is also a Phillies game that night, so the bar will be packed already.

A little further up Broad Street is a place called Chickies and Petes (http://www.chickiesandpetes.com/). It will also be mobbed, but probably less so than McFadden's and you are about a 15 minute walk back to the arena when you are done.

If you are in town early enough, another option is to park in Center City, where you have unlimited dining options, and just take SEPTA's Orange Line (Philly's mass transit system) down to the stadium, which drops you off right outside the Wachovia Center. That's what my wife and I are going to do.

As for a cool areas of the city where you can find lots of restaurants and bars, there is Old City (2nd and Chestnut), the South Street area (South Street from Front Street to 6th Street) or for something a little more "metropolitan" there is the Rittenhouse Square area (18th and Walnut Street). The possibilities are endless because Philly is an awsome restaurant town.

If you are driving to the sports complex and want to make the show on time - leave very early to make sure you get a parking spot, or have time to walk to the stadium. It can be a real mess down there when there are multiple events happening.

Hey. I may as well chime in, too, about the signs. Do you remember, Joe, I emailed you directly over a month ago that I didn't have the time or resources to print signs and be a part of the sign gang any longer regretfully? I will do what I can for my section. To date, I haven't printed any signs. I'll try to print some but I can't promise 500. I spend most of my time on the computer at work and printing them from work won't fly. I'll see what I can do.

And...I will be arriving to the show late. I have to work since we are shorthanded due to someone being on vacation. I work until 6, then I have to pick up my son and bring home, and then get my Dad for the show and we'llbe one our way. I'm thinking I'll get there around 8. Possibly later.

well i am very excited for this show after reading all the chicago show news!

what is bad is our show getting cancelled even it was declared to be a opening show of the tour first.

but any way now i am damn excited and want to see some new songs in our concert apart from the same setlist as chicago.

my seats are in sec 116 row 12 10 to 9 (me and my husband.)

but i think that this section is near to stage.

if the cameras are allowed are i can sneak it in some or some way then i'll definitely post my vids and pics here.

I will be printing off roughly 2,000 to 2,500 signs for distribution. I can give some signs to people who haven't been able to print them off (The Joker, etc.), but if you are able to print the signs, please bring your own! I will post more information tomorrow as to when I will be arriving at the Wachovia Center so that we can all meet before the show. Send me any PM's if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
ColdplayJoe

Get one sign printed, and go over to staples or a kinkos. They'll make copies for you, at a cost of course.

ColdplayJoe
24-07-2008, 12:12 PM
Excellent point Galaxy6013. I know that it might cost a little more money, but if you can't (and you probably shouldn't for the sake of your printer) print on your home printer, take a copy of each of the signs over to Kinkos or Staples. Their prices are reasonable when you print in bulk, black and white, on partially-recycled paper.

The concert does start at 8 PM, but some of the opening bands might play earlier, Robins32.

I am going to be bringing over 4,000 signs to the concert for distribution. I will be posting throughout the day as to the date I will be arriving at the concert. I am definitely going to need help bringing the signs in through security, so please everyone try to meet up with me with your signs as well before entering the concert. Additionally, please remember to bring your own signs as well (500-1000 most people committed to). The signs I am printing are in addition to the signs that you will be printing for the show. I am hoping that we can get the entire floor covered, along with some of the lower level seating (especially on the sides closest to the stage like 113, 114, 123, 124 and the back sections of 102 through 108).

I will post an update through our email tree as well. If you have any questions, either PM or email me!

Thanks,
ColdplayJoe

Hey everyone!

I will be arriving at the Wachovia Center between 5 to 5:45 PM, most likely towards the earlier time. I will be posting my cell phone number for members of the Coldplay Sign Gang so that they can call and check-in with me once they arrive at the venue. Seeing as I am bringing between 4,000-4,200 signs, I will definitely need help bringing them into the venue and checking in through security. When we meet up, I will give everyone some additional signs to bring into the arena.

What I am planning on is for the people with floor tickets to distribute signs to everyone seated in the floor area. Considering that people in specific bleacher sections are not allowed onto the floor without a floor ticket, we will need the assistance of everyone seated in the floor sections to help distribute signs to those areas. For the rest of us, we will be distributing signs throughout the lower level sections until we run out or we need to move towards the upper sections.

For those of you seated in the 200 section, please try to distribute signs to the lower 100 sections first, while saving some signs for your 200 section and the people seated around you.

For everyone in the Coldplay Sign Gang, please send me an email as to when you will be arriving, if possible, by no later than tomorrow, Friday July 25 at 9:00 AM EST.

Thanks again for everyone's enthusiasm!

Sincerely,
ColdplayJoe

Thanks Chavi... the boys loved it the last time we distributed the signs back in 2006 for their final stop on the Twisted Logic Tour. They actually ripped our 'USA Loves Coldplay' sign to read 'Coldplay Loves USA'!

For everyone in the Coldplay Sign Gang:

I have just gotten 4,000 signs printed for the show tomorrow from Staples. 4,000 signs in black and white on recycled paper cost about $145-$175, depending on your corporate discount.

While waiting for the signs, I made a couple of quick estimates for the amount of signs needed just to cover the floor and first 17 rows of all of the lower level seats. They are listed as followed:

Sections A, B, C (Front Rows): 429 signs
Sections D, E (Middle Rows): 504 signs
Sections F-H (Seats around the front of the sound booth): 390 signs
Sections 106A-108A (Back Rows): 330 signs

Sections 114, 113, 101, 124: 1,300 signs
Sections 112-102: 3,800 signs
Sections 115, 125 (adjacent to the stage): 650 signs

To cover the entire floor, and all of the lower section (up to row 17): 7,403

Rough estimate to cover entire floor (with some slack): 8,000

Again, I will be bringing roughly 4,000 signs in addition to the additional 250 signs that I had left over from 2006. Therefore, if everyone else brings at least 500 signs each, we should be able to easily cover the lower level and floor seats.

If anyone has any questions, suggestions, or ideas, feel free to send me a PM or email.

Thanks,
ColdplayJoe

To put our efforts into perspective, the Wachovia Center holds roughly 19,000 - 21,000 persons depending on performance or sporting event.

With the 4,000 signs that I will be bringing into the concert, we will be covering roughly 21% of the entire capacity (equivalent to the entire floor and Sections 113, 114, 101, and 124)

With an additional 4,000 signs, we will be covering roughly 42% of the entire capacity (equivalent to the seats mentioned above as well as Sections 102-112 up to the 17th row)

If we can get 10,000 signs like last time, we can cover close to 53% of the arena, or the entire lower level and floor with enough extra to cover some of the CLUB seats or Section 200 seats.

I know that we can reach the goal of distributing 10,000 signs. Please send me a PM or email telling me how many signs you plan on distributing. As of right now, JasmyneBirch and I are going to be bringing 5,000 signs combined. Let's make this another stop in Philadelphia that Coldplay won't forget!

Sincerely,
ColdplayJoe

Woooooo can't wait for tommorow!!! Its finally here. I thought this was going to be the longest month long wait ever after they rescheduled.

BTW I'm going to be in section 1 so I could help with distribuition of the signs in that section if I get there early enough. Which I should becuase I'm going to be to excited not to drive up to philly super early.

Also, If anyone lives in philly and wants to see them in DC next sunday as well, I have a an extra ticket in section 120 becuase my friend bailed on me. Price negotiable.

If you still haven't sent me a message with how many signs you are planning on bringing, please do so by tomorrow at 12:00 PM! Attention Coldplay Sign Gangers:

Both Ian and I are currently talking with the Oxfam head coordinator to see if they could possibly use our sign campaign as an additional means of promoting Oxfam as well as coldplaying.com. If things work out, we might be able to volunteer as Oxfam members for the evening. While distributing the signs, we might also hand out small Oxfam fliers, pins, etc.

Nothing is certain at this point, so as of right now, our plans will still be to meet in front of the Wachovia Center before the concert or to meet at my seats in Section 113, Row 3 before beginning our sign distribution. I will be in contact with everyone throughout the evening and will post an update sometime tonight.

Thanks everyone for your ongoing efforts!

they have to play some extra tracks for us in the encore because we all waited a long for this rescheduled concert and some one must definitely request it in the audience.

And yeah we are pretty special people because Coldplay always used to play here 2 or 3 times last time in 2005 and 2006.

but this time it is only 1 time they're doing.
