View Full Version : Death And All His Friends...

I probably shouldn't be posting this here, but there's no one to talk to right now.
My Ex-Fiancee's father was the closest thing to a father I really had for many years, and he passed away this morning. He was 84, and lived a full, happy life, but it's still hard to say good-bye.
My ex has been making arrangements all day, and has gone to bed (obviously), and our other friends all seem to be out or not checking their email. So I'm feeling very alone right now. I'm not asking for pity, I just needed to tell someone what's up, so I can start to accept it. I've been numb about it, and I know that's not how to deal with it.
I'm lookiing forward to the new album more than ever now, since music is such a helpful part of the grieving process, and we already know Chris deals with some of these themes in the new lyrics.
Sorry for blubbering, but it really helped just to talk about it.

I feel kind of bad posting ot on a public forum, where we hang out to have fun, but it does help knowing someone else is reading it. I really loved the guy, and I'm going to miss him, but at least it was quiet, and he had his son with him.

I'm guilty of writing out what I feel on this board a lot of the time, so feel free.
I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, Tracie :( I hope you can recover from it, and that the new music we hope to get in a few months will help with the mourning. And remember, we're always here to talk

THanks so much. I'm going to buy a copy of the album for my ex...he's a bit of a fan, and I know Chris's own loss has influenced the lyrics and the title, so hopefully it will be a ray of light for Eugene.
It's kind of strange...Eugene never left his parents. THey always stayed together, and ran their seperate businesses out of one home. This makes him an orphan, and it's going to be very strange for him to not have a parent around, even though he's in his 50s.
ohhh sorry to heart that Tracie =(

Tracie, my heart goes out to you. It took me a long, long, long time to get used to my dad's passing on; it's always good to have the memories to hold, but pretty hard at first. Music does make a difference - that's a very profound thought.. For some reason, I began to recall the song by the Beatles "Yesterday" when you mentioned it..
Eugene, I'm sure, is glad to have you're company right now - and it's hard to adjust to living in an empty house, with all the reminders when a parent passes on.. Best to keep busy for sanity's sake - that's about all I could do to cope with the loss at the time; and to spend time with friends and family - social connections really help a lot.
Hang in there Tracie!;)
With All Sincerity,
-Chuck.

Thanks, Chuck...and everyone else too...He's filling his time with the arrangements, and seems to think that keeping busy will keep the grief at bay, but as most of us know, there's a time when all the activity stops, and that's when i fear for him. He'll be ok, but it's not going to be easy once all the activity settles down. Not for any of us.
This just shows me the power of the internet...it's so nice to be able to talk with total strangers when you can't reach your RL friends, and feel it's genuine.:)

I'm really sorry to hear that Tracie!
I find it so impressive that you are looking forward to the new album more than ever now in this situation....it just shows how important music is for every single one of us. Sometimes it can be more helpful than words of friends...and strangers...
so, I hope music (if it is Coldplay or not...) will help you now and that you feel better soon...

Know what you mean... I remember when someone special died, it was easier to talk about it to net friends before I was ready to talk to anyone else.

Thanks again...this thread really got to me when I read all the new replies, but it got to me in a good way!!
Tonight, Eugene invited a bunch of friends over to celebrate his father's life, and our collective lives together. We shared good memories and good music. Funny thing, his new girlfriend is one of THE coolest people I've ever met, and we're on the way to being really great friends.
:)!
It was good to finally mingle with the real-life people who knew and loved him, but until I could do that, Coldplaying was a great shoulder to cry on...I REALLY appreciate it! *hugs Coldplayers*
