anyone who has any understanding of minimalist music would appreciate just how awesome Meg is. no other style of drumming would suit the White Stripes sound.

^ Your comment makes it sound like Meg keeps it simple by choice. While it may work for White Stripe songs, it's not like she really has any other alternative. Meg is not really holding back anything...

well White Stripes style is simple itself  But they are very good at it, Meg may not be the most skille drummer on earth but her drumming fits perfectly the wild riffs of Jack

i dont see why everyone gangs up on Meg. if she was in any other band with any other musician she would be perfectly fine. but since she spends most of her time next to one of the best musicians of our era'a she gets unfairly scrutinised.
Meg is no different to Jonny Buckland, Adam Clayton or even Ed O'Brien, mediocre musicians who found themselves in amazing bands. and happen to be half decent with harmonies.

or what about the edge, just some delay and simple arpeggios, and still for some he's one of the best guitarrist around

When Meg White creates the signature sound for the biggest band over the last 25 years, we will continue this conversation.

No
what no?
there is no way anyone can convince me that the white stripes would be a better band if it was john bonham or keith moon behind the drums. its called chemistry.

^ I didn't say White Stripes would be a better band.
1) She would not do fine in another band. She is not a good musician.
2) She is a far worse musician than the others that you mentioned.
I could play the drums in Blue Orchid, and I don't even know how...

Where did I say I didn't like Meg White? Could you please show me? I think I'll keep listening to what I want irrespective of your advice.
All I said is that Meg is not a skilled musician. Nothing more, nothing less. I like the White Stripes just fine.

1. I do think White Stripes are an awesome band.
2. Meg is hot except for her teeth. I would expect to find those teeth in the mouth of Keith Richards.
3. I am not brave enough to predict a new White Stripes album. I have not read of anyone knowing anything, so I am still waiting to hear something (if there is anything to be heard).

i think alot will depend on how successful the dead weather are. right now i have my doubts over this project. i watched about 20mins of footage of their performance in New York 2 weeks ago and really didnt like what i was hearing. they seem to be going for this really dark artsy sort of led zep feel and it just wasnt working for me. i really hope i'm proven wrong when the album comes out in June. in my opinion Jack White is yet to make a poor album (get behind me satan got close for me but its sooo popular amongst other people) Horehound will be his 9th since 1999. quite the achievement if you ask me, especially in this day and age.

What's wrong with that statement? I agree, White Stripes have good chemistry.
If you don't agree, that's fine. But there is no need to be condescending.

Alright, the Stripes are one of my favorite rock groups. I've been a fan since the beginning, Jack is such a great performer and really knows a lot about music. Also like the Raconteurs, a promising project. Anyone heard the album Jack did with Loretta Lynn?

I just found it here (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/jack_white_unveils_solo_album_plans.html).
Jack White Unveils Solo Album Plans
According to a report by Nme.com, musician Jack White has stated he may record a solo full-length this year.
The White Stripes frontman stated he could end up recording a solo album soon enough but he doesn't know what it will take for him to do so.
When asked if he will ever release an effort by himself, White replied: "Eventually, yeah, for sure." and also discussed the idea of playing every instrument by himself.
"I've never done that [played everything himself]," said White. "I thought about that. That might be the challenge - to differentiate from anything else that I've done."
In regards to all of his projects with The White Stripes, The Dead Weather and The Raconteurs, the musician said he didn't know when new material will be released.
"It would be a mistake for me to premeditate anything, even in the next six months, to say what I'm going to do," he explained. "I honestly could be working on a White Stripes [album] in the next two weeks. I have no idea if that is going to happen. And the same with The Dead Weather. I'd rather live like this without a calendar in front of me."
I post it here, as that's his 'first band' so...

im starting to get over his weirdness, its slowly creeping into "annoying" territory.
but the fact that it only takes him 2 weeks to record a classic album keeps things interesting
