I'm trying to learn Arabic. Hard language to learn.
chuck kottke
06-04-2008, 04:40 AM
Yes, that is quite the leap in languages... best of luck and skill to you! ..
& Angel Eyes has had to learn a very foreign language as well just to be here - that's quite the feat as well!!
My understanding is that to learn Arabic one must shift one's mind into another gear almost - to go from Indo-European object oriented languages to Arabic verb-oriented languages is really a leap in thinking! From what little I know, it's quite a change in mind-states..
rudy_o
06-04-2008, 09:04 AM

I'm trying to learn Arabic. Hard language to learn.
well, this's good news really!
it's difficult to teach someone new language in front of the computer!:lol:
I know, maybe you find it difficult, but I think you should try maybe you will succeed with it ''really I hope that'' :)
Are there any schools in the US so you can learn the language? ''this will help you a lot too''
I think you need someone to teach you how to pronounce the words in the correct way I know it difficult for you to read the words!...
anyway - I'll try to find a web site or some books it could help you to learn the Arabic language...
I'll post them here and good luck!:)

Angel Eyes has had to learn a very foreign language as well just to be here - that's quite the feat as well!!
I know that - the English Language is very important because it's an international language!:rolleyes:
In the past I thought that learning this language is so hard for me, but because I love this language! thats encouraged me a lot to work hard to learn the language...
Thank God - now I'm able to speak, read, write the English language! and that didn't stop me from learning! so I started to learn more and more about the people who speak this language and try to speak with them and learn from them to develop my language too!
been here not just I'm one of coldplay fans ''well this's the first reason'' but to meet new people and try to communicate with others thats helped me to learn a lot of things. also I've met really wonderful people here from all around the world and thats a good thing too...:cool::):)
and in our life we can meet people from different countries and maybe the only way to speak with them is if we speak their language!
and I have to mention that I love my language and it's really make me happy too, to see the other people trying hard to learn my language!
and all I can say best of luck for them...:)

Isa ruhu-lah 'alalihis-salat was-salam
I just want to know this part... Quite confusing... :confused:
Oh that part, it means "Jesus, pray and peace be upon you." Its a part of a song by a Christian band but the singer is Arabic and likes to sing in Arabic. It sounds awesome.
Maldini helped we with this, i'm sorry but I forgot your real name.
Isa = Jesus
ruhu-lah = Soul of God { ruh=soul, u=of, lah=God }
alaihi = be upon him
salat = pray
wa = and
salam = peace
ya Dhal-Jalah wal-Ikram = The Lord Of Majesty and Bounty { Mean God }
Ya = Characters appeal
Dal-Jalah = Lord of Majesty
wa= and
Ikram = Bounty
ya Halim, ya Qahhar = You The Forbearing One, You The Subduer { Mean God }
ya Muntaqim, ya Ghaffar = You The Avenger, You The Forgiver { Mean God }
la Ilaha ilallahu= No God but him
la = No
Ilaha = God
Ila = But
allahu = Allah
Allahu Akbar= God is The Greater
Allahu = God
Akbar= The Greater
I think me and Maldini are going to disagree on the word Allah, its a generic word for god, like god is in the english language, christian arabs can say allah just like a muslim englishmen could say god. Arab Christians before Islam used Allah for god, as did other religions in that area.

I know, but its not about one god, like god in english language can mean any god you want it to mean. Arab muslims and arab Christians along with other religions that speak arabic also say Allah but are talking about different gods.

well, I'll try to explain it to you when we say ''Allah'' we mean it - all of us ' all the Muslims and the Arabs ' belief in ''Allah'' that's what our religion is about ''Islam'' which is there's only one god ''Allah only'' and there aren't any other gods! I hope you understand that...
and maybe you have a lot of questions about that, but when you read about Islam you will find the answers...

Allah was used before Islam ever came around...thats my whole point. People before muslims, like christian arabs who spoke arabic said Allah talking about the Christian god. Its a generic word. The Koran has nothing to do with a language made before it. I know arab christians who use Allah but are talking about the Christian god. So a Muslim will say Allah talking about the god of the Koran, while a Christian, Jew, or other religion arab who speaks arabic will use the same word talking about a different god. The koran nor muslims did not invent the word.

It can mean whatever god you're talking too. Just like in english someone praying to Ba'al could just call him god or someone praying to Jesus could call him god.
allah=god are the exact same word, it depends on the person for what god it represents.
Perfect example, the Christian and Jewish God's real name is El or YAWAH, but many just call him god because its a generic name. I don't know what the actual name is of the Muslim god or a direct name was ever given in the Koran. I know the bible and torah use the generic God, but also use his real name too.

But like anything, each culture influences a given religion to put a unique regional influence on it. For instance, isn't it true that those who worship Islam in Egypt blend a certain influence of older traditions with Islam, as Christians in Ireland do in a similar fashion having the Celtic traditions in their culture? The roots run deep.

Hello fellow arabian coldplayers :D
I need some help from you here...
A long time ago, in times of great boredsome, while searching for things of interest, I found a website with interesting finds on Google Earth. And there is a lot of interesting stuff there indeed.
Amongst other things, there is one that was left unexplained. Apparently someone found some signs and arrows (huge arrows) in the Jordan desert, but there was noone there who could translate what the signs were telling. Infact, I'm not even sure that they are arabic letters, but they look like it to me.
So, if anyone could decypher or translate, it would be much appreciated :)
I made a couple of screenshots:

well, about the signs you were right it's was written in arabic letters...
and about the translation well in the first pic there are three words. the first and the second I couldn't read them, but the third one I'm really sure about it (it's Allah means God)
in the third pic there's an arabic name called Ali...
