View Full Version : Albums of the year so far
So it's the 1st July, and the start of the 2nd half of the year, so what has been your top 3/5/8/10/15/22 (etc) albums of the year so far?
Simple rules is that it had to be released between the 1st January and 30th June 2007, and no compilations/re-issues/EPs. Officially released live albums are okay.

Maps... if you haven't heard any of it yet, go listen. Seriously. Amazing stuff if it's your cup of tea. Best album I've heard in ages. Best this year for sure. :D
Feist!
The Bravery- oh stop laughing... it's actually worlds better than their first cd believe it or not... better than it deserves to be, anyway. I was shocked when I first heard it. Now I can't stop listening. :stunned: I'd take it over Sam's Town any day.
Was the Klaxons' album actually released this year?
I had never even heard of Blonde Redhead before (although apparently they've been around for a while), but I heard some of the new album and really loved it.
Still want/need to listen to: Bloc Party - A Weekend In the City, Editors - An End Has A Start
Overall, yeah it has to have been one of the bleakest years for new releases in a while. :disappointed: But I'm sure there are still a few gems out there.

I know, but the official release date is in the second half of this year. :D
i dunno...many of this year's supposed exciting releases i found quite underwhelming, bar a couple of albums...
Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Atlantis by K-Os
Fear Of A Blank Planet by Porcupine Tree (although i'm still kinda iffy on the subject matter, musically it's an absolute pure eargasm)
Still don't quite see how people can connect to neon bible...

i personally don't see how anyone can connect to A Weekend In the City, but obviously you (and admittedly a lot of other people) did.
It was better than I was expecting it to be.

Travis or White Stripes for me, and the Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs. I was disappointed with Kaiser Chiefs one at first but it has grown on me over the last month or so!

"It was released in Canada on October 10, 2006,"
It's a 2006 album, even if it might have been released in some countries in 2007.
