Okay ppl, we all know that oasis comes up with the best quotes ever, so i thought it would be a nice idea to ask you...

"What are your fav liam or noel quotes?"

Some of my favs:

"We're not arrogant, we just belive we're the best band in the world." -Noel

"Sure I love Liam, but not as much as I love Pot Noodles." -Noel

"If your fuckin good your good, if your shit your shit." -Liam

"I still love George Harrison as a songwriter in the Beatles, but as a person he's a fucking nipple. And if I ever meet him I'll fucking tell him. And if you're watching, NIP-PLE!" - Liam

Valleyboy

Yea, i've been lookig for em like crazy too.
and then i found this wicked italian messageboard and they posted these links there. And probably they'll post the links to the missing songs when they get em. Man, i wonder if the new songs are good.

But back to the glastonbury topic.. Oasis were really good, as usual. My favourites songs were champagne supernova, stop crying your heart out and my generation.

and oh, the mp3s quality is great too, you'll love em, ryan.

i got the songs a few days ago..not really as good as I expected....
although, maybe it is...coz Oasis have been getting worse and worse...Although, their glastonbury gig was great i thought

Skinned Alive

I missed it on TV (I was in the pub), but I've download the first two mp3's now, and... to be honest, I have to say so I'm not impressed so far. From just listening to it, it seems like they're just not bothered about performing anymore, and they get no enjoyment out of playing a gig.

As much as I love Oasis (and I do), I think their last great gig was at Finsbury Park 2 years ago (I was there on the Saturday and it was great). Even then, it wasn't anywhere near as good as any of their gigs before 2000 (compare their Wembley Stadium gig to Maine Road or Knebworth Park). They've really gone downhill over the last few years - the songs are as great as ever, but the way they play on stage is dull and lifeless nowadays.

Anyway, I'll download the rest of the gig. Hopefully they redeemed themselves as the set went on.

Yea, i totally agree.
But the gig gets way better when they play stop crying your heart out and little by little. And oh, the the who cover in the end was awesome too.

Not the best oasis gig ever, but really good anyways.

Yea, i know, but i didnt download em cos i want to hear the glasto version first. ha yea, i'm stupid, i know.

But hey, did you download em, fifi? are they good?

and ooh, i just found another glasto mp3: don't look back in anger:

http://brunoreb.sites.uol.com.br/disco_virtual/compartilhada/glastonbury2004/dlbia.mp3

ha, they're using a brazilian server to host the files. You people should download this one as soon as possible, cos brazilians servers are pretty lame, so this file might go offline before you can say "liam-looks-like-a-rabbit-nowadays"

fifi
28-06-2004, 02:22 AM

cool, cool.
good to know that, cos i dont think oasis ever recorded a bad song, you know? (okay, lets forget about little james) and i wouldnt like to see em screwing their song list with this new album.

And whoa, fifi, did you download this dlbia live version i just posted? Its freaking awesome, probably even better than the familiar to millions version. :stunned:

Valleyboy
28-06-2004, 07:59 AM

and oh, i think i'll get the glasto cd covers artwork tomorrow. if i do, i'll post em here.

Valleyboy
05-07-2004, 08:45 PM
A bell will ring is the classic oasis track. good vocals, good lyrics, no giant guitar solos by noel. i like it. And i heard that gem archer wrote it. But whoa, that track sounds so noel gallagher. I dunno.

Meaning of soul isnt that good, but at least its different from what oasis have been doing. its a bix of bring it on down and hung in a bad place, i think. good drums. And the lyrics are okay too.

and what do you think fi?

Oasis are good, Be Here Now is the best album. And Noel is the bigger badass, Liam's just funny. The best was on Familliar To Millions when the first words out of Liam's mouth are "Fucking shithole!". I'd get the DVD just to see Liam on stage. But I need to save up for Uni so no can do.

The Glasto 2004 gig was one of the worst Oasis gigs I've ever seen.

Liam sounded dreadful. Noel wasn't putting any effort in. The new drummer sounded appalling. They looked like they didn't want to be there.

I kinda liked glasto 2004. Like, there were some good moments.
Champagne supernova was good, as usual, the my generation cover was probably their best performance of that song EVER, columbia sounded perfect, bring it on down had some good drumming. Their new songs a bell will ring and meaning of soul were really good, imo.
The rest of the gig really was kinda boring though.

oasis is pop??
do you have doubt about it?

don´t ever beleive in what noel or liam says. they just say bullshit or things to catch the press attention. read an interviewn of them is just waste of time.

change music style?

oasis Kind of Are pop, in a kind of song structure & hooks way, not a way in which they wear dresses where their nipples pop out, and they grab media attention. maybe 1 day though... :hat:
i'm interested to hear the new Album and Single, i've bought all since the first album, and Heathen Chemistry i think was the worst...i hope they bring a better one out! just to shut the people up who slag oasis off for little reason :baby:

they almost certainly will

that's what really pisses me off about Noel. every time he does something new, he says it's the best thing he's ever done since Definitely Maybe (which, of course, it never is). then a year later he says it was shit. he does it every single time.

EasyToPlease
11-01-2005, 08:46 PM
Oasis are past it now. The only reason they still sell albums is because of the arrogant bullshit Noel spouts. they have lost their drummer, are producing the album themselves. Unless they shock the world by a change of style then the new album will be like the previous ones. Stuck in the rut of brit-pop, trying to recreate something that is dead and buried, simply cos they aren't talented/can't be bothered to do anything else... :evil2:

heineken
11-01-2005, 11:58 PM
oasis had it´s time. bettewen 94-97 they were a good band. but that´s it.
now they live from the past.. and depending on how the new album came out, i don´t think that they will stay around here for more than 2 or 3 years.

and besides, when they really split, it won´t be very difficult to Noel have a kind of sucessfull solo carrer, with an acoustic guitar, writing and singing that samey poppy songs that he made all over his life.
-
i agree with you. "definetily maybe" is the best of them.

i´m speaking bad of them, but i like their music, or better, i used to like.
i still kind of "supporting" them because they were the first band that i really liked, the band who made me start to like rock... but that´s all.
and if the albums came out as crappy as heaten chemistry, i´m not sure that i´ll buy it.

Reilly

But it IS shit.

Noel also said that 'Heathen Chemistry' would sound more like 'Definitely Maybe'

only one song did. and that was 'Hung In A Bad Place'. and that was written by Gem.

the rest of it sounded like Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants, which is their worst album.

don't get me wrong, I still really like Oasis. the music's still pretty good, and they can put out the odd classic now and again (Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Go Let It Out, Songbird). But they'll never be as good as they were between 1994 and 1998, and the last really good show they played was Finsbury Park - every one since has been predictable, dull and lifeless.

i've had this a few days [7 MB version]...Looks like Noel is still making some wrong decisions when it comes to making his recent records...it doesn't seem to really go anywhere for me...when i first heard it, about 3 minutes later...nothing was stuck in my head from it..not saying that music is only good when it sticks in your head from a first listen...but I'd have guessed that would have been what Noel was wanting...it gets a 2 out of 5 from me

Drinky
29-03-2005, 09:38 PM
Considering, with Albie around, this is usually leak central or at least the place where leaks get discussed...

Lyla, the new Oasis single, was played earlier and a few of us with warning recorded it. It is *heavily* influenced by Street Fighting Man by the Rolling Stones, and takes from other 60s standards. Has a piano line too, which is interesting. Its grown on me from disappointing up to 'alright'. The 'Hey, Ly-la!' bit is catchy as anything.

It's a bit shit really, isn't it?

Nothing happens. The lyrics are boring and predictable. The solo's dull.

And according to Noel, it's "the most poppy thing they've ever done since Roll With It", and it's "annoyingly catchy". What a load of bollocks.

If this is the best they've got to offer out of those supposed 50 odd songs they had to choose from, then I'm extremely disappointed with this.

Calling on the stars to fall
And catch the silver sunlight in your hands
Come for me and set me free
Lift me up and take me where I stand

She believes in everything
In everyone and you and yours and mine
I waited for a thousand years
For you to come and blow me out my mind

Heyyyyy Lyla
The star’s about to fall -
So what you sayyyy Lyla
The world around us makes me feel so …
Smallll Lyla
If you can hear me call and I can …
Sayyyy Lyla
Heaven can I help you catch me if I … fall

She’s the queen of all I’ve seen
And every song and city fall on here (not sure about that bit!!!)
Heaven held my ?????
She rang the bell for all the world to hear

Heyyyyy Lyla
The star’s about to fall -
So what you sayyyy Lyla
The world around us makes me feel so …

If you can hear me call and then I can …

Am I the only one who thinks the lyrics to Lyla absolutely suck ass?

Theyre the blandest thing ever, even for Oasis.

The song is nothing special and would go nowhere if it wasnt by the guys who wrote Wonderwall.

it's shite.

if that's the best they can give us after 3 years, and out of those 50-odd songs they supposedly had to choose from, then I'm worried.

50 Cent * G-Unit, :/ we already have 2 thread about this song
Idlersdream, You've given no reason as to why you think the coldplay songs are crap, plus, you've only heard dodgy bootleg recordings of them...plus, how can't Oasis fans admit that Oasis are going down hill... :P
why can't Oasis write more song like this excellent B-side

I quite liked the video, some people expect them to be like they were in the 90's and thats alot of pressure to give a band, of course everyone will be divided.
